Great place to go, food is excellent, freshly cooked , service with a smile. Very reasonable prices. They keep a very good pint and there is plenty of choice. Regular entertainment. Quiz nights are great fun. Atmosphere is good , the pub cat is very friendly as is the dog, dogs are made very welcomeand the fires are just what you need on these cold ,dark evenings. Highly recommended

Decent pub with a few cask ales. Quite small inside but staff are really friendly and good choice of drinks. Very limited parking particularly if having an event there.

Popular village pub with decent food and large beer garden with many tables, occasionally has live music on Sundays. Beer garden and inside the pub could do with a bit more tlc. the beer prices are high.

Nice beer garden we sat at the top on two very old rickety tables (hopefully the ones in the garden were better.My other half had to give our details in the bar which is the right thing to do .As a cyclist sitting outside is normal to us

Theakston, Black Sheep and Ossett Brewery Ale on tap friendly welcoming atmosphere with activities going on, air ambulance sponsorship and dog friendly, must call again to get a more detailed view.

Quiet village pub with food liked it

I don't even think it's worth 1 star. Ordered a Sunday lunch. It took 1 hour to serve. No mash on the plate. Defrosted and microwaved food which was flooded with water and soggy. The gravy was watery . It was fathers day and we were thoroughly disappointed with everything about it. We left the food and won't be going there again. It is under new management and they aren't doing much of a job.

Everything about it is fantastic

We had a baby shower here Over a year ago and decided to hold our little girls first birthday party here due to how amazing they was. Both events we have held here have met our expectations and beyond. The staff are so friendly. Food is lovely and fresh. The drinks are reasonably priced. Lovely indoor and outdoor areas. Will definitely be visiting again :)

The easter entertainment was brilliant! Our children thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely friendly staff, and the food was excellent too. Will be going again. 😊

Have not been In the Cross Keys for yrs but really enjoyed it this evening. The owners are really nice and like to have a chat. Brilliant!

Good local pub, good beer and good for watching football/rugby

Quick visit only had 1 pint but sat in front of a log burner and watched athletics but noticed there was beer garden and a nice country view the staff was verry pleasent but didn't serve stout 'my personal choice ' but pleasant music playing .

Welcoming pub doing Sunday lunches. Seems to be under new management as the pool table has gone replaced with tables. There is also a conservatory area. A couple of real ales on tap as well as a large selection of gins and wines.

5 star good place beer spot on but no food Monday Tuesday try later in week

Visited at late lunch time, we waited around an hour for food to arrive after ordering which wasn’t great, a table that ordered just before us had finished and had their table cleared by the time our food arrived. When it arrived, the food was nice and home-cooked so the wait didn’t seem too bad. Portion size was average, I had fish and chips and the fish was pretty tiny for the price I felt. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly.

Welcoming landlady who serves really good beer. What more could you ask for.

Hidden gem of a pub, thoroughly enjoyed a random Sunday afternoon in the beer garden. A real diamond in the rough. Definitely recommended.

Visited Cross Keys today & received a very friendly welcome. Strongly recommend the Chicken & Mushroom pie, home made & delicious.

Called in for lunch. Friendly and welcoming hosts. Ordered sausage and mash which was declared delicious but the three large sausages were one too many. Also ordered steak and Theakston pie. This is a very large, free-form pie, completely encasing the meat inside. Personally, I don’t want herbs sprinkled over my pastry, but that aside, the meat (although fairly well cooked) was lacking any gravy and was extremely dry. The tiny jug of gravy brought with the meal was nowhere near enough to compensate and extra gravy was required. Larger jugs of gravy would be good. If this pie was made the traditional way with just a pastry lid and some gravy to keep it moist, it would be a real winner for me and more cost effective for the pub. The chips were a real cause for celebration though. Proper, old fashioned fried chips. All they needed was lashings of gravy. I’d visit again just for the chips!

New owners prices for drinks are expensive

New People taken over and they are still getting things sorted out. Still a friendly pub in a nice location. The beer was very good.

A nice place to sit on the balcony and have a drink while taking in the sun and watching the kids play on the swings. My kids love the chickens and the pigs here

Stayed overnight in my motorhome. Made to feel very welcome, old fashioned Yorkshire hospitality at its best. Good choice of beers and lagers, food limited to pizza the evening I visited, but very enjoyable nonetheless. There seems to be music on the last thursday of every month. I liked the warmth and laughter of the staff and locals
