Another fantastic Sunday lunch at the Seal. Kiki and the team offer great choice of meals including the Sunday roast. Always served professionally by the team. Great value for money and excellent tasting experience. Good choice of wines and beers

Disappointing Experience I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to express our disappointment with the recent experience we had at your restaurant. During our visit on Sunday 10 March 2024, Mother’s Day. We encountered several issues that significantly impacted our dining experience. First and foremost, the quality of the food served was below the standard we expected. The dishes were poorly prepared, the quality of beef used for the roast dish was chewy and stringy, there was not enough vegetables to be shared between two people and the vegetables were watery, the beef lasagna was oily and little to no beef in the dish, and the toffee pudding had three big date pits in it. Additionally, the service was inefficient and inattentive. The staff appeared overwhelmed, as there were only three females overseeing the restaurant and did not attend to the tables promptly, leading to long wait times and a lack of follow-up on our orders. These shortcomings were disheartening to experience. I believe that constructive feedback is necessary for improvement, and I hope that you will take this into consideration to enhance the overall dining experience for your customers. I would appreciate it if you could address these concerns and take the necessary steps to rectify the issues I have highlighted. I value the reputation of your restaurant and believe that with the right adjustments, it can continue to thrive and provide exceptional service to its patrons. Tasty hot food with a nice atmosphere. Nice choice of music too, the staff seemed happy singing along which is nice to see people enjoy their jobs to be honest

Traditional pub with separate restaurant. Good old school roasts, delivered hot to the table with a smile. Service good and overall cost was reasonable.

Came Sunday 4th feb for food for the first time as have heard the Sunday roasts are to die for and your not wrong they are so delicious and tasty, plates are full and hot and to top it off the staff are great thank you to chenise I think that was her name she was great thank you very much I will be returning.

Shenice has served us twice now a couple of months apart and both times she went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. We had the Sunday roast and it was lush we will definitely be back

I visited a good friend and ex-neighbour who now lives in Selsey on New Year's Eve. The Seal was booked for a 'nice end of 2023 meal' at 3.00 pm. The Sunday menu was quite limited. We shared a bowl of whitebait as a starter .. these were overcooked with a solid breadcrumb coating. The roast dinner mains consisted of very dry meat, waterlogged vegetables ( I do like soft vegetables but these were almost liquidised) with a strange, claggy cauliflower cheese. I have never had such a bad roast dinner in 70+ years including many school roasts ! We did not stay for dessert as furniture was being shifted around ready for the evening entertainment. The staff were obviously stressed. Maybe they should not have accepted bookings later in the afternoon.

I was on strict business with Kieran (who does bouncy castles) when out of nowhere I was greeted by the lovely Andy who served us our food with the biggest smile. The food was delicious the staff friendly and Kieran and my date went so good, I guess you could say we sealed the deal. Will definitely be back

Very nice place at the center of Selsey. Various type of draft beers and other drinks. Good food, service and friendly staff.

I came here for my 65 th birthday 🎂 with all my family 14 of us the service was excellent the food was excellent so good we have came back today for a family roast so thank you the seal for the excellent service and I would recommend it to anyone

Really welcoming restaurant. Good menu. We had Express Breakfast and Greek Yogurt with Homemade Compote. Hot toast as well. The service was prompt and friendly and the breakfast was delicious. We were down in Selsey for two days and came on both days as it was so good. Nice decor very relaxed and classy! I bet its nice to stay here!!

Our first visit to The Seal. Separate bar area and tables outside, good choice of beer and other drinks. The best pint for a long time, bright and lively. Friendly staff and good food in the restaurant. My husband had the belly pork and I had the mussels. Both beautifully cooked and delivered to our table hot and fresh. I had the panna cotta for dessert, also worth a try, very good. We will certainly visit again and take our friends. Thank you.

Good honest pub food. Very well cooked, piping hot and delicious. The white at starter was crispy and hot and the tartare sauce chunky and I assume homemade The modules marionettes were moist and the portion size very generous. I asked for chunky chips instead of fries which was no problem and they were crispy with skins on and light fluffy middles. Friendly staff and good beer completed the experience

Friendly and fun bar staff and excellent food (baked Camembert, soup, lasagne). Good gin selection too.

An adequate pub accommodation worth about £75 per night but charging beyond the value. However don’t leave credit card details with them as they will try to debit additional charges after departure because their administration is a shambles. I paid for breakfast prior to leaving and they tried to take the money from my card four hours later because they were in a muddle. No apology just self justification ! A small pub in the middle of nowhere trying to charge above it”s value and competence.

This place was lovely. The food was fantastic, the service was so friendly and made it extra special. The children really loved it.

Had dinner with my friend whilst over from Spain, they have just started a new menu which all looked amazing we had squid to start was delicious and I had pork belly was melt In the mouth and full of flavour my friend had the special halloumi burger again faultless, great service and lovely location will definitely be back Hasta proxima.

We had looked to go to the Seal for an evening meal but due to other visits we took the opportunity of lunch, the restraint was fairly busy as we arrived at 12.30 expecting to be first in, I assume this is a locals go to as the food was very good. I had the Pie of the day Steak,mushroom and Guinness an individual pie that was lovely, my wife had the crispy belly pork that was also very nice. Desserts were a bit of a let down, my Chocolate Orange Cheese Cake was not set and had no Orange flavour, my wife’s Sticky Toffee Pudding had very little taste and very little sauce. Overall for the mains and service we were very happy, desserts require attention .

We havd been looking forward to this special evening celebrating the legend Sir Patrick Moore. With many guest speakers, and a film to watch. Great food and a great sevice. A truly fantastic evening.

I could not stay for breakfast due to work and without asking or promoting I was asked if they could provide a sandwich to take with me in the mornings Handmade, fresh and without fuss: plus the sandwiches were massive. The food; it must be home made it was simply too good not to have been; the beef and Stilton pie yummy and so were the fish and chips. The rooms were clean and tidy; they made the room everyday which in these times was very unexpected and I thank you for that small detail. The Seal Pub is a lovely establishment and you all should be very proud. Thank you for letting me stay.

We were warmly welcomed into the pub which is really nicely decorated. Drinks were served promptly and the menus brought over. These made such a refreshing change to the usual, run of the mill menus although they did also contain the staple favourites like steak and burgers. I had falafels followed by coconut chicken curry,both absolutely delicious and would highly recommend. Great value for money too.

Booked in with a couple of friends. All the Covid stuff explained but not laboured. Good sized roast pork for £13.95. My wife had the beef for the same price. Friends had the pie of the day for a couple of quid less. Happy well fed people all round!

Bite to eat came a cross this little gem of a pub in selsey called the seal wow what a fantastic experience very helpful friendly staff the lady in the white top what a gem very polite most helpful I don’t go in till about 220 this afternoon I had the seafood sharer £12.95 you got white bait quid tartare sauce sweet chilli dip which was a sweet and not a hot dip the pub warm very welcoming from the out side and wasn’t let down on the inside so if you find your self in delay or near by you have to try this place out po200jx it’s fantastic so thank you to all the guys and girls for a fantastic experience this afternoon love mr cheeky in Kent

Went to the Seal twice on our trip after reading reviews they were spot on had sea bass second time it was excellent staff very attentive and very good value.

Visited here with a friend and an acquaintance. From the second we arrived the level of service was fantastic, the staff were so attentive I felt I was the only person in the restaurant and they were my friends. The menu consisted of a list of meals and my acquaintance advised me that the number of items on the menu meant it was a world class restaurant regardless of how the food tasted. Thankfully the food was gorgeous, it was beyond belief. Especially when it got to dessert time! My friend, the waiter, wrote down my order and within minutes he delivered it to my table. The baileys and white chocolate mousse was to die for, and given what we’re all going through now that was a welcome relief.Stay safe guys.

We booked this fairly last minute and were happy with the size of our room and the cleanliness.Friendly welcome from all the staff - check in, bar and restaurant.Food was plentiful, however perhaps too plentiful as I could not get through it. Mussels very nice, if a bit gritty. That cannot always be helped though.The Air Con was a helpful touch. However, the blue light over the bed was a little like having a torch shone in your face. The very comfy bed and a good nights sleep made up for this small annoyance.I would recommend this pub with rooms to everyone, with just a very short walk to the sea .

We spent 2 nights at the Seal during very hot weather. We booked at short notice so the only option was a de luxe room that was a brilliant choice as the room was large and airy with very effective air conditioning. We had dinner on one night that was very good with a huge menu to select from. Breakfast was excellent on both mornings with numerous choices. The staff, especially the breakfast waitress, were all delightful. Definitely recommend the The Seal as the place to stay.

Pie of the Day ... Steak and Kidney on a bed of mash and perfectly cooked veg plus real chicken goujons for our grandson followed by delicious rhubarb and apple crumble. Delicious!

I love this pub and always visit when we’re in Selsey.I felt the Covid regulations were being adhered to without making me feel as if we were eating in a lab and had to book ahead. Food great, the prawn and monkfish curry was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful as ever. See you next time.

We went to the SEAL as a family in the beginning of August. This was our favourite place when we come to Selsey and my kids were really looking forward. After months of lockdown, this was my first dining out so I was even more looking forward to the dinner there. My husband had a text from the restaurant “please text “here” when you get to the restaurant. We’ll come and get you” after booking a table on phone. I had a impression from the text that they were regulating the number of people inside as COVID response. We got there and texted “here”. No response. So called them directly but their answer was like “sorry? Are you coming?” When we went in, there was a hand gel stand. But the gel was so slimy and never disappeared even we rubbed our hands for so long. Simply disgusting one. All the staff in the hall / restaurant were not wearing any masks, any sort of face covering, or gloves. A waitress came to our table and talked to us from our head without any face covering, which made me feel so uncomfortable. A table next to us left and one of the staff was cleaning the table. I watched it but once again it disappointed me... just so quickly wiped the table only and went. What about chairs where people usually hold? I went to the toilet and there was a sign “one in one out”. With 2 opaque thick and heavy doors, how would I meant to know if anyone is in? I went in anyway but of course someone else came in.. I wanted to wash off that horrible gel but there was no hand soap in the ladies... I couldn’t believe it!! I had to use the sanitiser again. I didn’t see a single time that any waitresses/waiters used hand sanitiser during our stay there. Staff were all chatting and laughing while serving food without any face covering. Kitchen staff were also not wearing any face covering or gloves. It’d be fine if there was no virus going around. But now? One of waitresses was even cradling a dinner plate to her stomach before putting something on the plate... touching all cutlery before serving.. seriously? I’m sure they’re all fine and not infected. Their food was lovely. My family enjoyed it a lot. But I just couldn’t feel relaxed at all but so nervous looking at their appalling handling to the coronavirus situation. Masks might be not comfortable to wear all the time while working but I’ve seen people were wearing plastic shield or biser kind of protection in a different Cafe kind of place. My first dining out after lockdown was so so disappointing.

We stayed at the hotel for one night, had an evening Meal and breakfast. Wanted a shirt break away and came across The Seal. The hotel is spotlessly clean, staff as so helpful and lovely atmosphere. They allowed us to keep our car in the car park after we had checked out so we could spend the day at the beach. Would love to have stayed longer. We felt so comfortable and relaxed. The food was fantastic, both the evening meal and breakfast. Thank you all at The Seal fir making us feel so special.

They had done their best to make themselves as COVID secure as possible with tables more spaced and plenty of hand sanitisers on show.Good choice of meals available on menu. Slightly disappointed with my fish chips and peas, far too much batter on the fish. Chips were OK but a bit greasy. Wife enjoyed her chickpea curry.Nothing I would wish to complain about, and the staff were nice. Just not quite good enough for me to think I’ll eat there next time I’m in Selsey

My wife and I ordered a set meal for collection on the 23rd of June, our Wedding anniversary. Whilst ordering the meal we let slip about our anniversary. Lo and behold when we picked up the meal, which was ready on time, excellent value and extremely tasty, we found a wedding anniversary card in the bag from the staff at the Seal. Lovely touch, great service , as always. Please note that this was a pickup due to lockdown.

We have had two takeaway meals delivered so far. They were both superb. The chilli con carni was delicious and so was the curry.

We order “Fish and Chips with a bottle of Fizz” as the pub is now closed. Easy to order, arrived on time, lovely and hot, left on doorstep by a very smiley driver !

Attended this excellent pub and restaurant for a 461 air cadet reunion coupled with the usual pie and pie night. Food excellent, service excellent. Would recommend a visit

We had some friends stay for the weekend and visited The Seal on Saturday evening. The restaurant was booked in advance (always advisable). On arrival we were pleasantly greeted and taken to our table. Our waitress was friendly and advised she was fairly new. I mention this as we had to remind her a couple of times that we are still waiting for certain items. The options on the menu and specials board were good.We ordered some bread and olives, whilst we pondered the menu.Starters were Moules Mariniere, Baked Camembert, Salt and Pepper Squid. All very tasty.Main courses consisted of Chickpea and butternut squash curry, Home made pie, Swordfish steak and lamb shank. Again all very nice.The Box of Frog ale was very good.

We have just had another great meal out in The Seal Pub and Restaurant. This is one of Selseys top places to eat as far as we are concerned. The menue is always changing and adding great new dishes. Four of us had the Selsey crab linguine, and very nice to it was. Service is quick, staff are good. What more could you want. Cant wait till we go back again.

Managed to get a booking for lunch on New Year’s Day. Don’t be put off by the dated appearance of the restaurant as the food and service more than make up for it. Two had fish and chips, one a bowl of muscles and I had a steak. We all loved our meals and drinks, would dine there again.
