Gracias.

This pub has so much character, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Can't fault that - but the food we had was very disappointing. The chips were so greasy and oily and the food was generally a bit bland. For the money - £22.50 for a steak - I wasn't impressed at all and again cements the idea for me that it's better to cook it yourself!

As a regular visitor to this pretty place, it was a big disappointment to be met with the rude and arrogant, male bar manager, who did not seem to care at all about his customers, their comfort or their welfare. After coming here for several years, sadly I think the impact on my family from his attitude, is enough to prevent us all from ever returning. Good food served by a souless crew - with the exception of the young man, who is kind, polite and tries to be helpful - but it’s obvious that this young lad is up against it. The owner/manager really needs to sort his head out. How can such an inhospitable man be in hospitality?

Arrived here Sunday afternoon. Totally unwelcoming staff (two older people- one male, one female). Rude, sarcastic and unpeasant- it’s like they didn’t want us in there/ or any other customers for that matter. Bar flies everywhere. On fly flew right into my eye and the man behind the bar (middle aged guy, very direct), made a sarcastic joke instead of trying to help. Made me feel stupid and cleverly turned this round on the customer. It seemed like after the food service is over, there is zero customer service. The ladies toilets were dirty and clearly hadn’t been cleaned. You really have a captive market here but my advice to you as an establishment is this - you never know who people are, what business they may bring you and ultimately- everyone should be treated with respect. We are giving you custom and the way we were spoken to and treated by both the male and female middle aged members of staff made us feel so uncomfortable that we decided to leave. Totally unprofessional, unpleasant and unnecessary. What a shame to treat people like that. We will not be returning and we will be advising our friends and family of this too.

Food tasted great. Service seemed a bit clueless..one particular young man had no idea what sides were meant for whom. General vibe- a bit hectic- lovely views, tables just too close together upstairs. We asked for a couple of changes to dishes that could not be accommodated- apparently the kitchen is super small so things have to be as they appear on menu. Food quality great.

Lovely pub to sit and watch the tide come in or go back out. Limited selection of beers but good enough and nice to have the option of the beer garden or the terrace on the front - which becomes a sea view if you're there at high tide! Great location, and very popular. Seems like you find a table that's not reserved and they will come and serve you (drinks and snacks can be ordered at the bar). No paper menus, so look at the blackboards. Not much choice for vegetarians (and none I could see for vegans). Service was good and friendly. Food was good, but had too much salt added. (At least half a teaspoon per plate). I recommend the flower pot IPA, a fantastic brew..

We were there for lunch on August 15th. Sounds like a different pub to the one some people below have been reviewing. Bar and service was run by three sisters. They could not have been more attentive, polite and efficient than they were. We have been going to this pub for years but it has never been as good as it is now. Much cleaner and better organised. We'd made a table reservation by email - luckily indoors as the weather was unusually 'fresh'. Food was excellent and there was no attempt to rush us. Ignore the moans. As long as these three ladies are there you will not regret your visit.

Good food, but unfortunately the unwelcoming/unprofessional staff let it down. We pre-booked this pub a few weeks before, for a special reunion with friends. On arriving at our table the staff member changed the name and time displayed on our table and told us bluntly that we had the table for two hours. This is fair enough, but it would have been nice to have been warmly welcomed first! We then ordered and were told there would be a 45min + delay on the food. I very politely commented that obviously this would be added to the two hours. The staff member said ‘no’ but said they would check. They told us they were understaffed in the kitchen and bar. Without trying, we had clearly heard our request being discussed and the staff talking about us and other guests. The tone of the conversation was not nice and for a short while it seemed like they had forgotten that they actually needed customers and that we had all chosen to come here. The server returned to confirm that this time was added and we thanked them. The food did take 45 minutes, but we didn’t need the added table time in the end as we moved on somewhere else for coffee after. Staff continued to talk about other customers throughout our meal both at the bar and close to tables and this just didn’t feel very kind or professional. The food was good and hot. The setting is lovely.

Came for an excellent small lunch here today, just two of us. We had the crayfish salad (as a main - £14.95) and the crab thermidor tart w/ salad and new potatoes (£15.95). Really delicious, well presented food. My only gripe is that the crab tart could have come with a slightly larger amount of salad, and I'd expect, for the price, the less tastu parts of a tomato to be removed and uses for sauces and stocks (as there were quite a few white/less tasty parts). That is a very very minor issue, the meal was excellent. Great range of beer, and wine, and the beers I had were fresh and clearly well kept. Will come back again as soon as I am back in the area. Beautiful spot, right by the water.

Don’t normally do reviews, but had an excellent experience at this pub today. There were ten of us and we all had a great time. The food was good, lovely atmosphere and we had tables at the rear of the pub on the veranda overlooking the estuary. The main reason I’m leaving a review is because of the excellent service. The young man looking after us was a consummate professional in terms of attentiveness, knowledge of the food and drinks on offer, and recommendations, this coupled with his personal demeanour served to make it a memorable experience for all of us. Visited Bosham and came across this pub as we walked. Was crowded on a Tuesday lunch which was a good sign but meant our choice of table was limited to one nearest the Loo. But, while I recommend the sea facing restaurant room upstairs or the wonderful bar, I must say the food, service and atmosphere was 10 out of 10. My partner is a vegetarian and was a bit sceptical about the vegan fishcakes but she was so happy, excellent was her judgement. Really recommend and will most certainly return. Delicious meal at this delightful pub; a lovely atmosphere right on the sea where the road outside floods every high tide! The menu was quite quirky and interesting ‘kelp, samphire … seacakes’ and ‘Mediterranean couscous with hummus’ as well as pie of the day, etc. Despite being really busy on a sunny day, the meal was served quickly by friendly, smiley staff - in particular the funny, patient guy who must have been driven mad by our inability to decide between chips (fat, crispy crunchy skin-on fries with sea salt) or new potatoes. When we initially got there at 5.30pm on pie night for our booking, the guy behind the bar and who took our order was friendly but it turns out he was the pubs downfall! It’s only because the young guy who took over from him was so fantastic that this review isn’t a lot worse. He really saved it! We were told when we ordered with the first guy that pie comes with chips or new potatoes. We asked for mash but was told that’s not an option. After we had eaten we noticed the man on the table next to us had mash! We asked our new server what pies come with and he confirmed it’s either chips or mash! 2 people really wanted mash but was told they couldn’t have it which isn’t ok! The second issue was that our original server forgot to put the 2yr olds meal through! This resulted in tears and tantrums while the 4 adults had food in front of us but the toddler didn’t. The new server rushed the order through as quick as possible and to his credit removed it off the bill without hesitation. The third issue was that all the bowls of chips had to go back because they were cold! The carrots under the top layer in the veg bowl were not just cold but fridge cold. To be fair, we didn’t mention the cold carrots because by then the poor server who had already gone above and beyond to deal with the previous guys mess ups, had apologised so much that we felt bad to mention anymore issues to him. Not good anchor bleu!

A 16th century pub with plenty of character in a superb location. Staff are brilliant, friendly and helpful with great advice on food and drink. The food was of high quality and also appealing as "home made" in terms of preparation. Specials are very good Highly recommended

This is a lovely pub in a great location, very friendly, great food and service. My only criticism is that the vegan option has not changed in several years so there is never any surprise or variety. Our latest visit was February and it was the standard sea cakes with salad. Where is the warming winter stews with chunky bread? I’d even welcome a curry or chilli for a change. The treacle tart is amazing though and lovely to have a vegan dessert option, thank you.

It's a beautiful location, but be warned if you've never been before that it's very dark at night and you will need to trust your sat nav to drive here. I go running around here but it was the first time I've stopped to eat. The staff are very friendly and the food is very good. I tried the slow-cooked pork belly with crackling skin and it did not disappoint. Being located next to a fishmonger and the water, it's a seafood experience. I should really have tried the seafood but that'll be next time. I thoroughly recommend this place if you want to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the urban eateries.
