Lovely location and friendly staff. However, the GF option I had was not good. It just seemed no effort was made to try and make the dish look appealing, and it was lacking in taste. However, I would go back again in case this was a one-off. If only for the coffee and view.

Having enjoyed some lovely summer meals at The Deck I wanted to support the new owners so have twice popped in for coffee. First time was great. Second, not so much. I'd suggest not chastising your customers for being two minutes early particularly when there are already a large number of customers inside and also I would respectfully suggest that pointing at a customer and telling them where to stand in a queue is not really the way to keep the locals coming back. Because it will ultimately be the locals who keep the place going over the coming months and a harassed/slightly snappy welcome from a stressed-looking manager is absolutely going to drive them away when there are places down by Emsworth harbour which offer a much friendlier welcome. The Deck seems to have lost a lot - its new identity is as yet unclear. Bad selection of cheap-looking cakes. No proper lunches offered (yet - I realise that this is probably going to change over the spring/summer). From a friend I heard that the tasting menu was very disappointing too. 'Bowls of mush.' However, there were positives. The coffee is very good. The young guy serving is personable, calm and pleasant. It's still a lovely building in a stunning setting. I just hope that The Deck can somehow get back to what it was - a lovely place to sit out and enjoy fresh fish with friendly, welcoming staff.

Came in for breakfast after a walk. The Deck was warm, clean and welcoming. Very dog friendly. Limited menu and our food was delicious, particularly the Breakfast Bap BUT the service was unbelievably slow. We waited over half an hour for both food and coffee. I’m happy to wait if somewhere is really busy or food complicated but the wait was ridiculous.

What a turnaround !!!!! We are regulars to the Deck and the last time I wrote a review with previous management it just wasn’t a great experience but my goodness, now under new ownership it’s is brilliant . The prices make it affordable to go and have an amazingly tasty lunch which doesn’t break the bank and you look forward to going back . Great to see it buzzing again and queues . Lots on offer in up and coming events … bring your own take away , burger nights , Thai nights , pop ups I have to give Kate the manager a shout out , always there to greet you with a cheerful smile. I very much recommend the Celeriac and cider soup , I was really hesitant but it was the tastiest soup I’ve ever had having been kindly offered a ‘sample ‘ we went for it - out of this world in flavour Jacket potatoes at £6.50 ! Up the road in the other Cafe they are double that in price . The homemade sausage rolls are massive and just look golden and out of this world. Well done to Tom and Team Deck !

New management, same fun location. Early days. I'm sure they'll do a great job. Just a brunch menu at the moment. You can't reserve a table. Service was friendly but ordering at the counter was very slow. Dishes are variable. We felt that we should have said something at the time as helpful feedback but decided to do that separately. Coffee was great.

As this place may be coming under new management am hopeful it will be a better visit next time I go. Our Christmas outing was not so good. Mainly due to the time we waited & my pet hate is sitting bang in the middle of a restaurant, that was unfortunate, we were a party of 6. Just felt awkward. The staff were over run, but lovely. I was disappointed. Food could have been hotter,or rather the plates. We had to ask for two drinks, ordered but not forthcoming. Good luck in the future. A great location 😍

All a bit of an underwhelming brunch. The 'loaded croissants' weren't loaded with the avocado as promised on the menu. The service was sloppy and 10% was added to the bill. May give them another chance but maybe not when there are several other options in Emsworth.

It's a beautiful location, but be warned if you've never been before that it's very dark at night and you will need to trust your sat nav to drive here. I go running around here but it was the first time I've stopped to eat. The staff are very friendly and the food is very good. I tried the slow-cooked pork belly with crackling skin and it did not disappoint. Being located next to a fishmonger and the water, it's a seafood experience. I should really have tried the seafood but that'll be next time. I thoroughly recommend this place if you want to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the urban eateries.

Like The Deck very much and have had some nice meals sitting out during the summertime. However, today's roast was something of a disappointment. It was topped with a charcoal Yorkshire pudding, and I use the word 'charcoal' because it was burnt to a cinder and actually impossible to cut, let alone eat. What a very obvious error - you could SEE it was burnt - and not good to just blithely serve this to customers and expect them to eat it. The error was rectified and some better ones were brought, but we saw several other people's plates around us also topped with a dry, burnt Yorkshire. Need to do better, The Deck, because there are a lot of better-cooked Sunday lunches within a short distance. I do have to say though that the staff serving were very pleasant and quick to replace our food when we put in a quiet complaint at the desk.

Wr went to the Deck for Sunday lunch with high expectations. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. Everything was tough and leathery - and some vegetables were black and burnt. Both meals looked and tasted as if they had been ready to serve a few hours previously and had been put aside to keep warm since then. Neither was it cheap at £50+ for two main courses and one glass of wine. The staff were lovely and the venue is attractive, but overall a big disappointment and we won't go there again.

From the moment we called to book our table, we felt like stepping into an ocean delight, we were enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu with expert recommendations and a genuine enthusiasm for the dishes. It was clear that the staff takes great pride in their work, creating a welcoming environment that made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table. Overall, The Deck offers not only a stellar seafood experience but also a level of service that is truly remarkable. I think the picture with this post speaks volumes about the presentation of our breakfast and we can certainly vouch for the quality. However, this review is more about the service we received. We had a booking at 0930 but arrived very early at 0900 to a very warm welcome from Georgie. Karen delivered our menus and took our drinks order. Karen was a joy, smiley, happy and professional. We placed our breakfast order and not long after the food arrived. One thing we noticed was even though there were only a handful of covers, the staff were busy, clearing, cleaning, squaring away, prepping, and checking on diners. It was very obvious that the staff were a well-trained team, quite rare in the client facing service industry these days. The food was brilliant but paled into insignificance as the customer focus and attention to detail was so exceptional. After I settled my bill, I gave a cash tip which Karen at first refused as she felt it was too generous. I respectfully suggested that the level of tip was equal to the service received and was well deserved by all. As we left all the staff said thank you and wished as a great rest of our day, a perfect goodbye. Downstairs I had a brief chat with Georgie who was a little overwhelmed, but I reassured her that great service should be recognised and that's all I did and that we will be back again and again. Georgie, I found out was the manager! I wouldn't call her a manager but a Leader, managers work with goals, objectives and resources. Leaders, inspire, develop, hone share a vision and most importantly lead the way. The cohesive team I saw today have been shown the way and I think that is down to Georgie. Thank you, Georgie, Karen and all the team you made our day by going above and beyond. One grumble for the owners! You have a premium venue, a premium product, which attracts a certain level of clientele. I guess that some of us would like to pay using American Express. I understand card fees may be higher etc but just a thought for the future.

Extremely unwelcoming, this not only experienced by myself but also a neighbour on the same day. It has recently changed hands and they have clearly made some changes. My opinion it has come rather pretentious and are clearly looking for a certain clientele which is fine if that is the direction the new owners are going. My partner and I went to the newly owned restaurant in Emsworth, The Deck, last night. It was only the 2nd night it had opened in the evening, under the new management, and it did not disappoint. The staff were exceptional, making a special fuss of my partner who was celebrating her birthday. We shared a delicious starter of hummus and flat bread, and I had the rib eye steak whilst my partner had the pork chop. The quality of the food was incredible. My young daughter and her friend have just visited the Deck and spent over an hour awaiting their order. What should have been a pleasurable experience was in fact not so nice. They left having witnessed the adjacent table being reimbursed for their wait. Yet they waited longer to be served. They paid the bill without saying a word as embarrassed youngsters do (15 & 17 year olds) As teenagers I’m sure that you’ll agree that money is hard to earn and precious to them. But the service is also a key factor irrespective of age. Really disappointed that what was to have been a special treat, which they had saved up for, ended up being a long wait and more expensive than planned as they ended up buying extra drinks to fill in the time. No response from the deck when I emailed them to advise them our dissatisfaction!

Sadly, the Deck has downgraded from a fine restaurant, almost always full, to a café under the new management. The food choice has been severely reduced. The fish and chips, whilst good, was a very small portion. I had this because their famous burger is no longer on the menu. The wine choice has also been much reduced to 2 whites, 2 reds, a rose and Prosecco. If you go, its a fine café and location and you will probably enjoy it. If you remember it as it was , you won't. The fact that on the hottest day of the year it wasn't even half full speaks to me that the regular clientele have left.

Upon completing a job in the marina where the Deck is situated we decided to go for breakfast on the final day before we left. In all honesty I think the price is a little steep for what I received. £50 for 3 small breakfasts with 2 teas and an orange juice is just outrageous especially when the black pudding was barely cooked. We were staying nearby in the fisherman’s cottages on a break from London, this place was recommended to us. Info about the menu was limited on their website that I could find, but we booked it on recommendation. It’s located above the boat club, and is elevated with some lovely views over the boat area, with some seats on the decking outside also. It’s super lovely inside, simple but very bright. The menu was small but had something for everyone, the specials board looked delicious. The lady that took our order made us immediately feel at ease when she explained how they could chop and change everything for the kids orders, and helpfully suggested a smaller order than planned for one of the children which was great advice and the portion was still large. We got there in time to order the muscles off the specials board, and they were genuinely some of the best I’ve ever had. Drinks were lovely with some fantastic mimosa’s. What a lovely, friendly tasty find! We’d love to return one day. We would absolutely recommend as well!

So why not 5*?..well ( & I understand the cost saving rationale), the move away from a commercial booking system to an email booking system has it's pitfalls if you are booking a table less than 24 hours before your intended visit, which in our case, was an email sent at 21:00 the night before requesting a table at 11:00. It should be noted that I made 2 attempts via the phone number too... These are just thoughts.. We will of course return 😊👍

My dog is very well behaved and after a long walk, he would have happily napped under my seat while we enjoyed brunch but unfortunately we had to leave. Have used this place before and the food and service is always excellent. Good atmosphere in a really nice setting. the brunch menu is very comprehensive and in particular the smashed Avocado really tasty. A good place for informal business meetings - I will return.

What a fabulous bottomless Birthday brunch we had today. We felt so welcomed by Kate and the rest of the team. The food and drink were first class, we definitely felt very happy by the end of our time at The Deck.Thank you to everyone especially Kate. I know the birthday girl had a wonderful time.

Brilliant food, excellent staff, fab location. Able to easily accommodate access for my Nan in her wheelchair. We really enjoyed our first time experience there and will for sure be back.

Visited for the first time based on a recommendation and the reviews on here, it’s clearly popular. Service was excellent, food very good, tasty and piping hot. My only observation, is I deleted some of the breakfast options. I wasn’t asked or offered a replacement. So I ultimately ended up paying more for less. It’s been a very long time since I wasn’t offered a replacement when deleting an item or 2.

Walked past lots of times but never ventured in but the rain clouds were a gathering up above so we dived in for drinks. Glad we did as the heavens opened and we found a lovely friendly place for drinks. Just a tea and an oat milk hot choc which was the best oat milk one in some time. We sat outside but sheltered from the rain. Will return.

We were staying in Chichester and decided to drop in here after my wife saw it mentioned in "The Peoples Friend " magazine. Dropped in for a coffee and decided to stay for lunch. My wife uses a wheelchair and was pleasantly surprised that there was a lift to the first floor. Sat outside with lovely views of the marina. Staff were friendly but professional. Will definitely come back in the New Year. Thank you.

It was booked for a private 30th birthday party. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the paella was superb. Highly recommended.

We are lucky to have such a lovely restaurant and bar in the marina. Service is personal, friendly and flexible. custom menu and does cater for vegan dining. Has both inside and outside dining with great views of the marina.

Lovely location, not been for years seen to and served drinks right away but disappointed with long wait to take order food fairly quick to come out though. A prawn and salmon salad which was overwhelmed with lettuce and only one slither of cucumber which I would have expected more of as it was stated on the menu. Overall disappointing for a main meal cost.

We stopped here for lunch during Easter weekend. We were lucky to find a table and although it was really busy, the staff were amazing and we managed to get our orders really quickly. They were very friendly too and the food was super. Best fish and chips we've had in ages.

Staff are very friendly and attentive. Food was prepared to a very good standard of both presentation and flavour and had no criticisms of a very good job done all round. Will return no question.

Nice garden centre. Cafe seems popular, although I've never been bin there.
