This is a marvellous place, with a great ambience. We had first visited the inn in July and when we were in the area again last week, we could not wait to go back again! It is a genuine English pub with a local clientele who clearly are regulars who go to enjoy a drink and a natter with their friends and the staff. The really lovely thing about the place was that they welcomed us and drew us into their conversations, so that we did not feel strangers or unwelcome. And then there is the food..... Steph, the landlady and chef is a wonderful cook! The menu was varied and the food was excellent, the service was good and all the staff are really friendly. Definitely a place to visit again and again... Thanks are due to all, staff and locals for making us so welcome.

This is an absolutely wonderful local pub, which serves an eclectic community and is well known for good, homemade food and well-kept beers/drinks. I am not one to leave reviews, certainly not for poor service as I find that faceless and distasteful. If there is an issue it should be resolved personally as it's the only way to make improvements and move forward but I feel very angry about "diet-coke"-gate!! I was also very kindly invited to this wedding and found the buffet to be top-notch and well-above par compared to if one was to order similar from a high-end supermarket. It was spot-on for this informal celebration and quite delicious. My husband did ask for a cup of tea for me later in the afternoon, which they very kindly provided when they were less busy. I really hope the Bride and Groom drop this person from their Christmas card list, at the very least! On a positive note though - the pub will not miss the return of this particular person, nor that one wanting as "Gastro-pub" - what a plum !!!

This is a traditional English pub, which is rarer than rocking horse droppings these days. We were there for a wedding reception. The staff were friendly and efficient, the food was varied, very fresh and beautifully presented, the beer was flawlessly kept. The interior decor was typical proper pub decor, the toilets were spotlessly clean and the outside space was just the right blend of open space with a good choice of light and shade from the sun. In all this was well placed in a peaceful village centre. In all a delightful venue and a very pleasant change from the plastic country pubs one tends to find these days. In all full marks all round for a great pub for which the management should be rightly proud.

If you are looking for a nice friendly locals village pub - with a great food menu, excellent selection of local beers, with friendly attentive service and good value, then you can’t go wrong with the White Horse Inn. The Pub is set in the sweet village of Westbourne in the South Downs, very welcoming, with a nice size garden at the back too. Parking is a little tricky but thats village life and if you park down by the church you shouldn’t have a problem. The previous low rating review was, to say the least, harsh and unfair towards this pleasant friendly country Pub, and the staff team worked very hard on the day referred to in the review - and in my opinion, such review was rather rude towards the lovely couple who held their very personal happy informal wedding event.

The service was ok, a little insecure, the food did not taste of much but was ok. We had the best lemon dessert after and I must go home and try it my self! The cook was friendly and nice. The only thing that troubled me was that everything was so shabby and dirty so I was almost on my way out in the beginning. The table had old food on it, the spoons were dirty and we could see rest of sauce and fingerprints on the salt and pepper! But otherwise it was fine.

Hi every one my very 1st post!. Normally poor service ect is water off a ducks back to me. But enough is enough. Booked a table here and that was probably my 1st mistake .the service was very very poor to say the least we received 6 apologies during what should have been a quick pub meal that took two and a half hours to complete. We went to the bar twice to collect drinks ordered. My guest went to get menus promised. When a member of staff didn't return we wrote our order down and took it in ourselves. Someone came and asked if the order was to be served at the same time yes was our reply 20 minutes later one of our items was unavailable. Part of meal arrived after another wait . Remaining items a considerable time later. To be completed fair the food was ok but by now we where very hungry. Asked for the bill and asked for a consideration on it due to the problems. 2.5 hours for a simple pub meal and a free garlic bread and the replacement of the meal unavailable free. On what would have been a bill of over £100.00 with tip. Not good. And the landlady was to busy to see me!

Me, to landlady: “Hello” Landlady: “You’ll need to sign in” Me: “No problem. How’s it going?” Landlady: “What do you want then?” Me: ..... I get that it’s weird and stressful in hospitality at the moment, but the bare minimum I expect from a pub is an actual hello. This was possibly the least warm welcome I’ve ever received in any establishment. The younger landlord actually seems a decent chap, but the landlady seems to consider customers an inconvenience. Such a waste of a great location and a very characterful pub.

Had a disappointing experience as a member of staff would not stick to the 2 person at a time rule that she had asked me to abide by, letting a customer jump me in the queue. She then took a strong overreaction to the fact that I queried this and took it upon herself to search my friend on fb to inform him that I had been barred from the pub the next day. Complete abuse of the track and trace system put in place and feel quite disgusted that they would disregard customer confidentiality!!

The food was great a nice selection for dinner. We were a table of 6, the food came out quickly, it was hot and fresh. Only 1 disappointment was that the bar staff gave us our G&Ts without any gin in it, a different staff member was at the bar and she insisted it had gin in it...she made us feel foolish...we then spoke to the staff member who made it and she smelt it, apologised and straight away corrected it.

Having recently moved to this part of the world my wife and I are keen walkers and sometimes we stop for a refreshment at random pubs/inns on our treks. We have stopped at this pub quite a few times and have always found the place very warm with a lovely roaring fire and is always a very clean establishment. The female staff and landlady are always welcoming, warm and helpful. It’s a cosy Olde World style pub with a good selection of beers and the wife tells me the wines are lovely and chilled. There is a lovely garden out the back which we generally vacate to on our walks weather permitting. It notably even has a small car park “rare in this area” and caters well for smokers with a covered seating area outside. We have eaten here on a few occasions and can recommend the Sunday Lunch which is delicious, plentiful and is value for money.

We were staying in Westbourne for the weekend and were immediately drawn to this Fillers Pub.Our first visit was on Friday evening and we quickly saw that this was a middle class locals pub which suited us perfectly. The first thing I'll say is that I would have normally given it a 4 star rating because of a couple of very minor points - a mistske on my final bill and I sometimes felt a bit ignored at the bar when trying to order a round while the girls were 'chatting'.It qualifies for that Fifth Star however because .... Hoorah!!!!!! Sanctuary ... there were no TV screens to be seen - absolutely wonderful.Anyway... the drinks on Friday were superb for Ale drinkers and my wife found the white wine 'lush. We went back on Sunday and had a delicious lunch there; roast pork for me with all the trimmings and a chicken dish for the wife - both meals came with generous portions and loads of vegetables. We finished off with a crumble each (with a choice of custard, cream or ice cream). The meal was excellent, service was good and it only cost £36.90 total for the 2 of us, inclusive of a small Coke each.

A long overdue revisit. Firstly I love the location. The welcome is great, but best of all is the food and drink – turns it into a wonderful place to be. The toasted sandwiches are labelled by cyclists - I had the Wiggo – kale, pesto, cheddar and onion chutney. Delicious! And the coffee was superb. Another part of the attraction is that I am really looking forward to being there again!

We came to The Crown Inn for a Sunday roast as we were staying at the caravan park nearby. Unfortunately by the time we arrived the restaurant had sold out of roasts so we had to order from the normal menu. We were not disappointed, the food was delicious and we would recommend it to anyone staying nearby.
