Nice little local cafe. Can't really comment on food as we only had 2 flat white coffees - what can I say? Coffee was nice & hot, lovely service but coffee taste? ....cannot recommend...a 'nothing' taste - definitely needs a re-think. Loved looking around the shop, lots of interesting things to tempt if you're looking for unusual Xmas gifts, & plenty of soft fluffy sheepskins & lovely sheepskin slippers, gloves etc Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Pulled in off the road for a lunchtime snack, attracted by a sign promising 'Crab Sandwiches'. Inside, the place has a lovely atmosphere, and - at the time we visited - a shrine to the Rolling Stones (close association with nearby Witterings). A lifesize cardboard Mick Jagger even greeted you in the 'loo! Wacky! Oh, and the crab sandwiches were excellent.

I saw this place advertised, looked at their website and it looked very promising. We decided to give it a go and stopped for some food and drink. The initial impression is a bit daunting with piles of pallets all around the yard. The shop is a strange mix of products. It's very dark and dull and did not have the sheepskin range that I thought I was going to see. There were some lovely items but the general range is very limited. The tearoom is lovely and like a different world from the shop and we were very pleased with the crab sandwiches. Service was fast and polite. My friend was unhappy with the cream tea as she felt the scone was dry though and it was a supermarket brand jam. If I had read these reviews beforehand I'm not sure that I would have visited. It just feels that with a little effort and a lick of paint in parts this place could be so much more. Appearance is important. I understand from reading previous reviews that mine will be ripped apart and that's not a good look either.

Arrived about 2:45 (website stated open to 4:00 even the menus stated food served to 3:40) no customers in cafe. We got the distinct impression that staff wanted to leave. Table was not clean. Wipe clean (!) menus were sticky. Staff started sweeping floor around us whilst we ate. If you want to close at 3:00 don't advertise open to 4:00! And as for the 'farm shop' I did not see any local produce that you'd expect in a farm shop. Not the best of experiences.

The staff were warm and welcoming and we got shown to the table in front of the flowery Old Piggery wall for plenty of photo opportunities, The afternoon tea was delicious and generous, we were pleased we were all hungry ! A member of our party has a nut allergy, they took particular care to put her food on it’s own 3 tier cake stand. After tea we all had a browse in the shop and bought gifts to take home, a thoroughly enjoyable experience all round. We will be back to try different dishes on the menu.

The Old Piggery Farm Shop and Tea Room is a nice place to pop in for a bite to eat. The farm shop had a nice selection of goods and the tea room had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and felt like a cosy place to retreat amidst the wet weather outside! My only feedback is that we expected more pig-related food and products, given the name of the place, yet we found the tea room leaned more towards crab as it's USP menu items, and the farm shop had lots of sheep skin products. Otherwise a lovely visit, and we enjoyed the food, shop, and general atmosphere. We'd recommend and would likely return the next time we're back in the area.

I had been told that their hours are erratic. The cafe open sign was still prominently displayed outside, as it was when we went past again after 5 pm. I had arranged to meet friends there so it was not just disappointing but inconvenient. What a shame. The owner (?) said they closed early because it was so quiet. I wonder why!! This could be a successful business if it was better run. It gives me no pleasure to send a bad review. I would have been a regular visitor.
