Deze pub wordt gerund door de dorpsbewoners. Heel enthousiaste bediening en lekker eten voor een geringe prijs. Bij mooi weer ook buiten eten in de beergarden.

We ate here twice on our recent stay in the area. Once for just our family and again for a large extended family meal. Both meals were excellent. The atmosphere is lovely, and the service is friendly and good. We had 3 small children, and their children’s menu is excellent. I just wish I didn’t have to cross an ocean to eat there again!

Family night out we live local to The Royal Oak & have had mixed experiences over the years, we heard that the old chef was back in the kitchen so thought we would give it a go. The food was excellent there was no waiting time unlike previous visits the portion sizes were good value for money all of the family enjoyed the night out. We took a chance as we can only afford 1 night out a month it paid off for us hopefully they have turned a corner now. Drink prices were fairly reasonable too not like some other pubs in the area that think we are in London. We will be heading back to pub soon as it is walking distance from our home & a good time was had by all. The only slight let down was the bar staff liked to be on there phones quite a bit just looked a bit unprofessional bit it didn't affect the quality of the food or our night out in general.

Called in for a impromptu Tuesday night on a warm summers night. We ate on the front and enjoyed the view of the village and the sounds of the church bells nearby. We ate off the Tuesday Night 2 for 1 burgers menu and had the the most moist well cooked burgers in a long time that obviously use quality meat. The staff were welcoming and we had a quality Firebird pint and an excellent Aperol Spritz…Will visit gain soon

Shocked to be told to move tables part way through my meal because someone seemingly more important than me had shown up an hour early for their table. To add insult to injury - they tried to charge me for a dessert I hadn’t received at the time I was told I had to move 😳

We had a really wonderful visit to the Royal Oak today for Mother’s Day! The setting, service and food (delicious roast dinner with all the trimmings and sticky toffee pudding) were all perfect. All the staff are so friendly, welcoming and attentive. All Mums were given a plant to take home, such a thoughtful touch! We would thoroughly recommend the Royal Oak and we will definitely be back.

Really lovely food; so enjoyed the cashew nut roast which was delicious.. so often the vegan/vegetarian option is not considered enough but this was excellent…friendly server and both mains and desserts for all four of us, including three meat eaters, were excellent.

For many years The Royal Oak has been on our list of frequented 'post MTB ride' pubs so we have experienced it in all its guises. Last Wednesday we dropped in for drinks and dinner and were met with the usual warm welcome including the log fire. A good choice of beers and as Wednesdays are 'pie night' we all chose the pies. Nicely presented, tasty and great value. I have since picked up from FB that they have a new (returned) Chef Richie, so I am looking forward to more regular visits to this great pub.

Good location and friendly staff, however in comparison to other nearby pubs I would say it’s quite overpriced for the quality of food. The staff are all attentive and polite, but unfortunately the men’s toilet is in dire need of a refurb. The ceilings were covered in mold, the floor wet and sticky, the toilet itself was filthy with a broken seat hinge. I left a similar review on google but it seems instead of acknowledging the problem instead my review was deleted…. strange way to approach the issue.

Lovely pub. Staff really attentive and accomadating. We turned up Christmas Eve with the hope they could serve lunch (we had made no booking)They had room for us. Food was good, however we waited a long time for our food to arrive, and between courses. I can forgive them though as they made up for it with the service, our young waiter was amazing.

We were accommodated as a group walking for a Charity Schnauzerfest, and the pub let us have the terrace outside to have a drink at the end of our walk. Then a few of of us stayed on for a supper- the fish and Chips, chicken burger and beef burger were all cooked to order and absolutely delicious. Thee staff are so polite and friendly- and of course dog friendly. The pub is clean, 💙 the sinks in the ladies bathroom and the garden front and back are really well kept. Great pub thank you 🐾🧡

I went with a group of friends, 12 in total. I put in a food order straight away; most of the others waited to order. The barmaid told us they would bring the food orders individually. 45 minutes later nothing had arrived and clearly they had decided to keep everything to serve all together. I asked the barmaid what was happening but she seemed like she couldn't care less. It really spoiled the occasion for me because all the time I was wondering when on earth the food would arrive. I really don't find such an experience to be acceptable and I won't want to repeat it. I shall have to campaign for us to go elsewhere in future.

Stopped here for lunch with a buddy. Nice location by a tranquil village green. Courteous service with a smile. Good beer at fair price. However, the food completely ruined the experience. We both ordered the 6oz beef burger. The food arrived reasonably promptly. No effort made on presentation, with a small handful of chips scattered on a canteen-style dinner plate alongside an insipid beef-burger in a soggy-bottomed bun. Awful at any price, let alone £16!

A rare find in the Surrey Hills - traditional pub with great food, friendly staff and reasonable prices. It was a family lunchtime meal out for 8 including two veggies during the Easter break. The local feedback on the pub had been improving for a year or two but we hadn’t been in to eat yet. The menu contained the pub staples you expect plus the odd surprise including confit chicken and a veg arancini. My son’s french girlfriend loved the confit chicken. Extremely reasonable price (sub £200) and really friendly welcoming and attentive service. We will return!!

One of our favourite places since moving to the area, it’s got even better under new management, whilst retaining the original lovely staff who can’t do enough to help you. It’s great to see the new owners being hands on and always present and approachable. The food is exceptional with a brand new chef producing a new and varied menu - where else can you get a croque monsieur when you pop to your local for lunch! The Sunday roasts are fantastic, as is the baileys cheesecake. Thank you to Neil, Kizzy, Mattie and Joe for the work you put in to provide such excellent service and for your lovely welcomes. My family and I have just visited The Royal Oak Holmbury St Mary to be told I couldn’t redeem the voucher due to being under new management although they are still advertised on Morgan pub co website as being part of their company, I have also used some of my voucher there before, back in January. We ordered two roast lamb lunches then after we had ordered the waiter came over and said we don’t have any cauliflower cheese so we can have some extra “roast” potatos . The food came and it wasn’t hot enough the potato’s weren’t roasted they were like boiled and undercooked! The lamb was on the dry side too. So overall just seemed slopped together and rushed! Called in for lunch today as food usually good here. Friendly welcome and varied menu. I went for the macaroni cheese and my friend went for the ribs. OMG the ribs looked and were amazing. Massive portion and very tasty. My macaroni was delicious, plenty of thick cheesy sauce instead of the usual thin watery one . Best pub in the area. Keep it up!

We were a group of nearly 20 walkers. The pub was extremely accommodating (they knew we were coming). Lovely friendly helpful staff. Food was served very quickly & was all very good. Plenty of choice for snacks or full meals, including vegetarian options. Great pub, highly recommended.

Food - We popped into this pub for a light lunch and I was certainly impressed with the quality of the food we had.... We were left with watering mouths looking at the other food that was coming out of the kitchen. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Roaring fire and cosy atmosphere. The only disappointment was that I wasn't hungry enough to order lunch for myself (my family enjoyed their food immensely)We will most DEFINITELY be going back Thank you for your hospitality watering mouths looking at the other food that was coming out of the kitchen. Really nice proper pub in a typical Surrey village. The food was very good - in fact this was almost a 5-star review. No pretensions, good, friendly service and an excellent ‘Specials” board. Definitely worth testing the SatNav for.

Just had a great Sunday roast - really good food, well cooked and plenty of it. We sat in the bar which was busy with family parties and dog walkers like ourselves. Good value for money and friendly service.

We have been really looking forward to coming here after driving past and seeing lots of lovely looking food on their facebook page. The setting was lovely , roaring fire and cosy corner reserved. Unfortunately the food was extremely poor - many options weren't available and the fish dish hadnt the skin removed and was so overcooked it had curled back on itself! Venison meatballs were very dry and accompanied by an extremely average plate of pasta with a bland tomatoe sauce. A shame as wont be returning to what seemed like a lovely pub.

My friend and I popped in here with our dogs for the first time after a long walk and found it to be very cosy and welcoming, especially sitting next to the fire! The staff were very pleasant and guided us through the lunch menu. It was my friend's birthday which was brought up in conversation with the guy behind the bar - before we knew it he brought over an unordered starter that my friend had shown an interest in complete with a birthday candle. It was a lovely gesture and utterly tasty. Having seen some unfavourable comments about the food in other reviews, I can only say that what we ordered really was top notch. We both live about half an hour's drive from the pub but will definitely go back with our families to enjoy the lovely surrounding area for a dog walk and another pub lunch.

Stopped off at the Royal Oak during an all day walk with our dogs. Pub was very welcoming and no problem taking the dogs in with us to eat.

The bar area looked friendly enough and they had a fire going, which was very welcome as it was cold outside. The restaurant was empty apart from one other table. So in total there were 12 people dining in total. As a group of 9 we had pre ordered to take the strain off the kitchen. Seems we may not have needed to do that though.

Whilst the village and pub is well worth a visit for a drink, I cannot recommend eating at the pub...

Very nice lunch. As there was a large crowd in, service was a bit slow, but we weren't in a hurry! Have been several times recently and always enjoyed the good food. Hope to come again soon.

So always served quickly and food is good however prices have gone up a bit and they only take cash??!!! Is always busy at the weekends but they are closing all of august WHAT ??? It’s the only place to grab a descent bite to eat in the daytime around here. Improvements would be better quality of red and brown sauce they do use the cheaper versions which in my opinion ruins the breakfast.

Was taken to Cyder House Inn last weekend for lunch and had the most fabulous afternoon. Susan was our waitress and she was amazing. Food was the best I have eaten since moving to the UK a year ago. The chef is South African and we loved the menu! I would definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone looking to have a wonderful experience!

Sunday lunch, for family 2 adults and two children. Only Sunday roast available, Turkey or beef. Asked for gravy on the side , all came smothered in a thick dark brown gravy and a jug of gravy on the side. Very poor presentation and the quality of the turkey was poor but the single slice of beef was the toughest I ever had. We didn’t even consider dessert ! Not to be recommended, AVOID.
