Visited on the 12th November it was our 19th wedding anniversary. Such a lovely venue and restaurant but food offering needs a lot of attention. Firstly we were the only people in the restaurant section. We both had a starter & main course. What we were presented was very disappointing. The presentation was absolutely shocking. My wife had mushrooms on brioche, literally x2 slices with minimal amount of mushrooms dumped on top, no effort to jazz up the presentation. I had 3 chicken wings which were tasteless with no salad onions as per the description or honey and dill dressing, only a few drops of honey out of the jar dropped on top. We both had steak both medium, my wife’s was rare and mine was ok but the triple cooked chips were McCann oven chips and the steak was ok but very minimal for the prices being charged. Literally came steak and chips dumped on the plate, with no vine tomatoes but a tomato cut in half and cooked to death. This place has so much potential but management need to get on top of what food they are offering in the restaurant. I’m a chef and would be very concerned if my restaurant was as empty as this. Whole bill inc coffee and drink £95.00 shocking. Sadly won’t be returning.

We hosted our wedding reception at The Red Barn and we couldn’t have been more thrilled with how it went. The event ran smoothly thanks to the fantastic team. We opted for the BBQ buffet and All dietary requests were met. The space is beautiful and well decorated. We couldn’t be more grateful to everyone at The Red Barn for making this the most memorable event.

The menu was full of traditional meals which had been tweaked in unfamiliar and strange ways, and everyone's being charged too much for the privilege. The ladies toilets all had doors with broken locks except for two, one of which was dirty. No individual hand towels and no nice toiletries or infusers. We won’t be visiting again.

A lovely pub with such a lovely outside area. Waiting staff were young and not the most experienced and a little slow. The Sunday roast was nice but not as good as we were expecting as had been recommended by friends. Was disappointed with my pudding which was a Bakewell tart, a very small portion which did not look appetising but did taste good. As it is a fairly expensive place to eat, we did expect a little more!

I thought I would let you know of our experience of our recent visit to the Red Barn. We were booked in to the restaurant. After a wait of 25 minutes a server came over to ask what drinks we would like then asked what food we would like, my wife asked for the chicken burger but was told that they had ran out of the chicken, at that point I had enough, so I said scrub it and we left. The server was polite and apologetic but I felt it was insincere. It was a shame as it was the first time we had been to the Red Barn and was impressed with the building and the interior but the service we received let it down

Nice food, poor service. Booked for 9 people for a birthday lunch. Were given menus, we went to order only to be told there wasn’t any roast beef or chicken burgers left. Would’ve been nice to have been told what options weren’t available when given the menus. We ordered a whole chicken and was told it was going to be a 25 minute wait, which was fine. They bought the chicken out first but with no plates. The other food was drip fed slowly. Placed at the end of the table for us to slide up to the relevant person. We kept asking for plates for the chicken but these were bought out last. So the chicken sat for 10mins getting cold. Raised with the waitress, who told me it was nothing to do with her, it was the kitchen….. Very poor. Then went to order dessert - no chocolate brownies and they ran out of coke at the bar. Would not return.

Poor experience at the red barn, a lot of menu options were unavailable, forcing the waiters/waitresses to come outside multiple times telling us we needed to get a refund for specific items and re order something else. All the dishes ordered came out at different times and was mostly disappointing. Also didn’t have any straws or butter for bread (surely just go to the shop and buy some more if you’ve ran out of such basic stuff?) a drink was spilled in the wind and instead of just cleaning up the spillage and offering new drink, the waiters were stood there umming and errring with no clue if they could actually replace the drink (just poor service, not very helpful) lastly after a poor experience I asked for a full refund as our appetite was lost. When I did this, instead of apologising and offering any help, a couple of the bar staff tried to argue against me. Only positive note was that the bar waitresses were friendly and only one of the bar staff was helpful. It’s almost like they forgot that they were running a bar/restaurant. For an upmarket and pricey pub this was pretty terrible. Wouldn’t recommend

Nice venue but 2 items unavailable on the menu. Table booked for 4 people was laid for 6 and no effort made to remove the extra place settings (second time this has happened). Had a shared Camembert for a starter. No plates or spoons provided. Our guest’s haddock was nearly burnt and was removed from the bill but still very disappointing. Service was very slow. The waitress was attentive when she appeared but very hard to find anyone when required. Best to go for Sunday lunch. However we will not be returning.

Restaurant was very quiet yet I find it difficult to get the attention of the staff. I mentioned to the waitress it was quite quiet and her response was she hope it stays quiet. Obviously doesn’t like to be busy. I can’t on-site management feels the same. Quite good food and will go back. Menus of starters not very appealing so didn’t order any starters. Menu on the whole is very limited. On a Friday night at 7pm place should be buzzing.

My husband and I are at the Red Barn last night and it was a very disappointing experience, despite previous visits which had been lovely. Where to even start... When we arrived we stood waiting for awhile to be seated, despite the waitress and bar staff seeing we were standing there, they made no attempt to make eye contact or reassure us that they would be with us soon. They simply walked past us and pretended we were not there. Eventually, when we were seated it was a frosty welcome. At this point we should have probably left but I decided to stick it out as we were both pretty hungry and didn't want to have to go find an alternative restaurant! I had mentioned we were celebrating a special occasion (our anniversary) and had asked for a lovely table. Instead we were given a table right next to the till and next to a table with children who were crying a lot. Not exactly a romantic setting, but we wondered if maybe the other tables were already booked. Throughout the evening the other nicer tables remained empty so we were just given a table without any thought or consideration. Throughout the evening, the service was abrupt, unfriendly and unattentive. The starter which was a £20 sharing Camembert arrived with one slice of bread cut into 4 pieces for two of us to share. I asked the waitress if we were really being charged £20 for a small Camembert and a piece of bread and she offered to bring us more bread of which we gladly accepted. 20 minutes later we still hadn't received the bread. The cheese was now cold and hard. When the bread did arrive we had to send the cheese back for reheating and that took another 20 minutes! Mains, I had the Mac and cheese which was very bland. My husband had the haddock and chips, his fish was so overcooked he really struggled through and he is not a fussy eater. We had tried to flag down the waitress to mention it before he ate it but again she pretended she couldn't see us, so he just ate as he was starving. When the waitress collected the plates, he mentioned the fish was very overcooked and she just said ok sorry. Nothing else and didn't seem to be that genuine of an apology. As we were seated next to the till we then heard the waitress tell another couple that because they were celebrating their anniversary she was giving them 20% off their bill and followed up with "we don't do this for everyone, you are one of our favorites". As another couple also celebrating our anniversary we felt like we were not valued as we weren't "favourites" having received no discount on our bill like the other couple and even with the issues we had faced with our starters and mains hardly an apology or real attempt to care that our meal had not been enjoyable in the slightest, it left us with a bitter feeling! Last but not least, when it did come to paying the bill we could not for the life of us get the waitress attention to come take payment. At this point there were only two other tables in the restaurant and both waitresses seemed very occupied with clearing tables. We tried for half an hour to make payment and they walked past us each time not once acknowledging our attempts to catch their attention to pay. We got up and paid at the bar on our way out, safe to say we will not be back and will be sharing our experience with as many people as possible as we have a lot of friends and family locally. Such a disappointing experience.

We ordered our food and drinks arrived fairly quickly however the starter s arrive which were shrimp and they were very dry and tasteless. We asked for some mayo and tomato sauce as they had on Marie Rose sauce. Ordered another round of drinks we were forgotten and had to chase up the wait staff. Mains arrived. Burgers were lovely but chip over cooked. Ordered pudding but when it came to ordering another drink no one around for ages. Ended up having to go to bar for the bill. I have eaten here before and has been really good but last night food and service was not great at all

Having lived in the area for 30 plus years we have always found The Red Barn very much hit & miss. We tried again on Saturday and it was simply appalling. The steak tartar was bland to be polite, cheap mince meat mixed with parsley, no onions or capers! Avoid the potted shrimp, not good, came with what we think was toasted sourdough bread but was as crispy as a rivita. I went for the fish and chips, as I've always found it to be superb, when it arived I asked our server if it was a child's portion as the fish was tiny and was told this was the standard company portion. I imagime that it was put in the frier and forgotten about as is was dark brown and dry this was served with mushy peas that were solid, my wife picked up them up and rolled into a ball. We have been married for 24 years and my wife said it was the worst meal she had ever had, I commented that if I had not gone to India 35 years ago I would agree. The Red Barn is great for drink with great staff just don't eat there.

It ranked as the worst meal we have had for a long period The menu is misleading and the food sub standard although not cheap. Would suggest that the fall in the share price of the owner is a fair reflection of the food quality. Stick to just having a drink. It got one star for a well made cocktail.

We had high hopes for our meal but left very disappointed. Things did not get off to a good start when the lady serving decided to log each of our orders direct into a nearby terminal, leaving us having to call back snd forwards- it didn’t feel very personal. Then a bottle of wine arrived where the cork was broken in trying to remove from bottle. The lady decided to wipe her finger over the top of the bottle, to remove bits of cork before pouring a taster to sample. We were all a little shocked. And then the meals. The starters were expensive at £8-£10. The potted shrimp was inedible and the terrine lacked any taste. The fish and chips was very good but the trio of roasts at £26 was far too expensive- I had assumed there would be more meat, but one small slice of beef, one small chicken leg and a piece of pork belly that was mostly fat. And to cap it all, a bottle of Chocolate Block wine that sells for £19.89 in Costco was sold to us at £50.50. Of course there should be a mark up but 2.5x is excessive. £225 for 4 people for a two course meal and a bottle of wine. If you want to charge that price for a basic Sunday lunch it needs to be a lot better. We left quite shocked and feeling very let down.

This was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve ever had. Not even cheap at £26!! I opted for the “apricot stuffed roast leg of lamb” Sunday lunch. Everything on the plate was completely tasteless, even the watery gravy. The meat was two thick slabs of tough lamb, not roast with apricots. I gave up trying to cut into the second one. My daughter’s roast beef was equally tasteless. I emailed the manager afterwards (too awkward to complain at the time) but no reply - that was a week ago.

A truly enjoyable dining experience, plenty of food options and does not disappoint. We had the charcuterie board with the most amazing caper berries and meats, the bread was a little dry to eat but we asked for some butter and it was delivered to our table with no fuss. Steak was cooked to perfection, seasoned just right to still be able to still savour the meaty taste and it simply melted in the mouth. The lamb pie was one of the best I’ve tasted in a very long while, peppery, buttery and full of flavour. For pudding we had the rhubarb frangipane and clotted cream, I had the apple and plum crumble with smoked custard…, plenty to eat and share and again both were delicious. Really worth a visit for a great dining experience, friendly staff who are well informed and incredibly helpful too.

Lovely staff. Lovely ambience and decor inside the pub and out. Food prices are high because that is the way of the world now. 1st visit to this rural Venue, to meet up with friends, nice to see a very big Car Park & well kept gardens, sitting areas & surroundings, inside did not disappoint, lots of tables but well spaced. Service was good, we all chose the Roast Beef , which was tender & a generous portion with enormous Yorkshires & all vegetables included. For dessert we made a variety of choices & all happy with them , nice to see Affogato with Amaretto on the Menu, which was very enjoyable. Overall a very nice Sunday Lunch but we did not appreciate the 12.5% service charge being added to the Bill so had it removed and tipped the Waitress as we wished to do. We do eat out regularly & considered the prices for drinks very much on the high side, apart from these 2 issues we have no complaints

A very welcome surprise for our first visit. The Red Barn at Blindley Heath may seem a little remote but it has more than ample parking, a covered outdoors area and a spacious interior that caters to a range of needs. We were particularly impressed with the warmth of the venue, especially given the size of the building. Although larger than the average venue, the ambience remained cosy. The menu had a range of options so we plan to return for another evening meal. The only (minor) downside was the portion size. While my haddock was larger than expected, the chips portion could have been larger. Service was polite and friendly and, as noted, we will be back.

On arriving for lunch booking, we were offered a table next to an open fire, we ask the waitress if there was another option away from the fire, she showed us to a table in the bar area which was fine with us, she said I’ll get you some water ! We sat there for about 15 - 20 minutes and no water materialised, so we asked another waitress if anyone was going to take our order only to be told we don’t serve customers in that area you have to go up to the bar and order yourself, we were not told this by the first waitress. If I wanted to go to a self service restaurant I’d have gone to a McDonald’s. Needless to say we left the Red Barn very unhappy and food less, nobody seemed to care, and it will be a long time before we return.

Second visit to this pub and can confirm it is definitely awful.I would give it a big fat 0, but trip advisor doesn't allow that. Some of our table ordered the roast chicken, very average. And some of us ordered a snack, mushroom pate with...

The Red Barn is a lovely gastropub venue in the countryside. I attended with a friend on 28/10/23, Rugby World Cup final weekend. It was a winters day and the car park was flooded by the time I left - be mindful of this if...

The food wasn't up to the standard of cost, very mediocre, very expensive. Better value and food at a harvester in my opinion.

Always enjoyed the Red Barn took friends Friday night and was sadly disappointed. The waitress could have been more friendly and seeing as only a couple of tables being used there was no excuse of being busy. Food was good but menu is now quite...

Beautiful setting and decor, limited food choice, mediocre food, a couple of plates were not that hot, most mains were under £20 but a ribeye steak was £42 which I thought was expensive for a village pub. The wine was great but wouldn't go back...

Great service, great Sunday Roast and staff really friendly and attentive. The bar had a fab variety of real ales and wines. Dining area was spacious I noticed the black board had details of upcoming events such as Sea Shanty evenings. Car park too which was really handy for our small children and walking distance for my mum. Will be returning.

This is a lovely coffee shop with friendly staff. I visited a few days ago and our server, georgina, was amazing. She was knowledgeable and answered our questions, helpful and generally all you could ask for when you don't really have a clue about coffee etc
