Old Bell in Tandridge

The Old Bell provided a very enjoyable setting for an early evening family meal. The service was attentative and welcoming, and the setting is excellent. Thanks to Gillian for looking after us.

Very tasty food, lovely service and friendly welcoming environment . Would definitely come again and highly recommend a visit.

It was quite busy so probably better book your Sunday lunch. Server Gillian was quite helpful and friendly. Food was good and portions were spot on; not too much not too little. The additional gravy boat was very welcomed.

Visited at lunchtime with a friend on a Monday. We were surprised at how busy it was m, but after having had the food , we both thought it was excellent. Our waitress was very good & attentive too.xx

This was my second visit and I will be going there again I'm sure as my daughter and son-in-law have recently moved to Oxted. Welcoming, good food and very friendly and efficient serving staff.

Was served by a lovely lady called Gillian, service was really good and food was amazing, I believe the chefs name was Sophie on this day. Perfect portion sizes and came out in a timely manor. Would definitely return

Took my 90 yr old Mum out for dinner as she was staying with us for a few days. Food was lovely and all the staff were very attentive. Gillian, our waitress, went out of her way to make my Mum feel welcome.

Came for a lovely meal with the family, we were treated amazingly by Jacob and Gillian who were both sensational. When we come come back again soon we hope to be served again by them.

Lovely pub and nice lunch here with our kids. Service was friendly and really nice with our little ones but got very busy near the end so a bit harder to pay when we were ready to head off. We arrived earlier as website says 9:30 opening on Friday but I think it didn’t actually open until 12 so it would be good to update hours! :)

This quaint pub, with beams, is worth visiting. We had an excellent lunch with good beer and the staff are so welcoming.

Beautiful pub built in 1500s. Welcoming staff. We missed the breakfast brunch and were too early for lunch but they got us in anyway. Wonderful waitress. Definitely need to stop in!

We booked for lunch today , we had a lovely starter of garlic mushroom on sourdough bread. This itself was very nice, we then ordered the roast beef , quite possibly the worst roast dinner wev ever had in a pub, the beef was extremely thick cut , as thick as a steak! and very fatty and tastless the description of this roast did not match up to what we recieved, the potatoes were tastless but apparently cooked in goose fat and rosemary , the yorkshire pudding was like cutting into dust , completely empty! The veg was flavourless , so basically all we ate was the potato's even though they were devoid of any flavour , and the stuffing which was ok ish. Being typically British and not wanting to upset or make the waiting staff feel awkward when asked if everything was OK with our meal we said yeh its fine thank you. There was also no time between the starter and the main , we needed a little break, the staff however were very friendly and attentive but they need to up their game on the roast beef , can't comment on other meals offered but not a good food experience for us, hence we won't be returning any time soon .

Lovely atmospheric pub. Worth visiting.

Good, friendly pub with decent food. Much larger than it looks, with a decent sized car park for a hungry traveller to get to off the tedium of the M25! Oxted is worth a look too.

A group of us had a very nice late Saturday lunch in April, after a longish walk. We were really impressed by the friendliness and how the pub accommodated in a relaxed manner our shifting group numbers between the date of booking and our arrival and also the fact that we were rather later than we expected. Gillian was really helpful, and she and the chef were very assiduous in making sure my coeliac intolerance was safely catered for. We had a lovely time. Thanks you all - very much recommended.

5 of us were booked for a lunchtime meal. There was a food range of options and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The only slight issue was the undercooked squash in the vegatable meal, inside was fine outside to hard to eat. Drinks were good and the service excellent. Gillian was helpful and provided excellent service. Car parking is good, and we will come again

6 of us went for dinner which we really enjoyed. Food was very nice and portions were good size (pie was huge) and we all left full. Service was quick and friendly from Gillian. Only 1 negative was kids mains (Mac n cheese) were very small although dessert was great.

A last minute detour brought us to the Old Bell on a very rainy bank holiday Monday! The bar itself was very quiet but restaurant seemed busy. Staff clearly working very hard and our waitress was extremely warm but possibly it was the position of our table that made it a bit of a thoroughfare and as such we didn't get to take advantage of any nice views, we didn't feel particularly cosy etc. so we could have been anywhere really. Food was good quality and tasty, just lacking in atmosphere for us.

I had booked online and specified that one of the party was gluten free and vegetarian. Our lovely server, Gillian, brought a tablet to our table to provide the necessary information on the allergens in the menu, and the menu options that would be appropriate. She was attentive and professional throughout, patient and friendly. The food and drinks were enjoyed by the whole group. There is a good range of gluten-free and vegetarian options, including an extensive dessert list beyond ice creams and sorbets.

Had the burger and turkey roast dinner. Food was delicious! Really impressed. Also happily served by Gillian who very pleasant.

The food was excellent. Real food cooked by a real chef. Real meat (not reconstituted). Wide choice. Look out for the national chain "Chef and Brewer" if they are all this good, this will change your attitude to eating out in the UK.

We went in for a roast dinner while out and about, the place itself is very run down and the seats are very tatty!, the food was quite nice but not much off it, we went for the mixed (3 meat) roast dinner, however they had run out of beef, so we were asked if we wanted to double up on the pork or turkey that was on offer, we both opted for the pork, but we're very underwhelmed when our meals arrived. We had 3 slices of meat on our plates! And small slices at that!, 2 x pork and 1 x turkey! The roast potatoes were tiny also. We both left still hungry. I don't think we will be rushing back I'm afraid.

Lots of dialogue I could go in to, but the bottom line is the staff are incredibly rude and the food is at best average. Save your money and give it a miss.

Roast was absolutely amazing…. BBQ chicken was enjoyed by my 13yr old son and Puddings were delicious. Highly recommend, we are definitely coming back for more.

Clearly not the right day to go to a chef & brewer as it was the day before a seasonal menu change… so basically half of the menu was ‘not available’. Would have been good to know this before hand as I would not have booked for our birthday lunch. When we did decide on what to have to say it was ‘ok’ is being kind. I could have done it better at home. The fish finger ciabatta wasn’t pleasant. The ciabatta was rock hard and the fish cooked to within an inch of its life. I had to take the batter off. The scampi seem to actually have no ‘scampi’ inside! It was comical. Someone needs to turn the fryer down. And I think we shared a portion of chips between us at best. Chef & brewer should not be dishing up food like this… thoroughly disappointing.

We came here for breakfast as a family with 2 young children. The staff were friendly and accommodating, it was clean and the food was absolutely delicious. It was served quickly (but not too quickly) and portions were generous, even for the kids and their pancakes went down a storm.

Brought my mum for Mother’s Day and we both thoroughly enjoyed! Superb Sunday roast - good portion size and a very reasonable price! I roast sirloin of beef and my mum loved the slow roast beef on the bone. Unfortunately we were both too stuffed for desert! Exceptional, friendly service with a smile. Definitely worth a visit and highly recommend!

Sunday Roast & Veggie option Me and my family were lucky enough to get a cancelled booking and I'm so pleased. We were served by Gillian and what a breath of fresh air. She made us feel.so welcome and gave us our space but was also attentive. All the staff were friendly regardless of them being super busy. I had the turkey roast was it the best I've had? Not really it was slices rather than a cooked turkey but it was no way a bad meal. I would score it 7.5/10. Good portions and I clearly found it tasty as everything was gone. I tried my mums veggie (mushroom) wellington and that was delicious. Now desert mmmmmmmm absolutely indulgent. I ordered the brownie as a chocolate fan and it was mind blowing. I highly recommend this place 👌 and will be returning just book in advance and the atmosphere was busy but calm setting. Please go and enjoy for yourself and while your there say hi to gillian from Sunny 🌞

Waitress Gillian was very helpful with menu choices to cope with one of our party following cancer of the tongue and where she has limited saliva. The light lunch of salmon with poached egg suited her well and my chicken ciabatta with bacon was very enjoyable. We were looked after by Gillian very well.

We had a fabulous time and Jacob was an excellent server. The food was great, everyone really enjoyed the sunday roasts.

Saturday night. Not too busy and could hear the conversation around our table. Table had plenty of space around it. Plenty of choice on the menu but we all chose starter and mains from the specials. Attentive waitress. Would highly recommend. A couple of drinks each. Bill a touch over £30 each. No service charge so could tip as we wanted. Prefer that.
