We had a really lovely meal at the Queen Inn, from the warm welcome on our arrival, the friendly and attentive service from Izzy and of course, the delicious food. There is a good variety of choice on the menu and the specials board tempted us all. This was our first visit to the Queen Inn and we will definitely be back.

A group of 4 of us booked in for dinner. It’s a convenient halfway location for us to meet up, just off the motorway. We had a really lovely meal and the service from Izzy was great. The menu has some good staples but there were also specials and the dessert board was very pleasing! It’s a cosy, traditional kind if pub with welcoming staff and very good food.

Came to the Queen Inn as a half way point on our travels with high expectations as previous reviews were good. We arrived and were instantly greeted by the most loveliest women who couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful! We ordered the roast beef and omg is all I can say! From the crispy and fluffy potatoes to the beautifully tender beef, everything was exceptional, full of flavour and the generous portion sizes and lashings of gravy was great. Despite not living locally, we would 100% travel the hour from home to come here again!

Met with an old friend for a long overdue catch up, and can honestly say one of the nicest pub meals I've had in a very long time. I chose something I wouldn't normally have, sausage, mash & veg, my friend chose steak. The sausages were very flavoursome and the veg were cooked to perfection, only drawback were courgettes (I don't like them) but my friend was happy to take them from me. Lovely little place with a lovely village atmosphere, we will definitely be back

After just one dispointing meal here out of so many we went back and were so pleased we did, Liz the lovely manager greeted us with open arms and a drink on the house as the last meal we had there wasnt up to their usual mega high standard, due to change of chefs. we were treated like royalty and the food was incredible, so much so we went again the following week and again, were more than over the moon with the choses of specials, the service and wonderful food as always and cant wait to go back and indulge again in my fav place to eat in Basingstoke !

Since moving to Hatch Warren 3 years ago, the Queen Inn has always been our go-to pub for celebrations as well as informal catch ups with family and friends, and we’ve always had a great experience. The food is always spot on (the pies and roasts are particular favourites!). It’s reasonably priced for the quality, it’s incredibly cosy, and the staff are always so friendly and welcoming. The only thing I would comment is that I believe tips are currently only accepted in cash which has caught us out a few times as we’re notoriously bad for relying on cards, and we feel bad for not being able to offer the staff the reward they deserve!

I never normally put a review in on Tripadvisor but wanted to say how amazing Liz and her team are at the Queens. I visit every week as the food and service are amazing and to see just how hard the team work to make everyone’s experience perfect I feel they deserve a mention. The food is always amazing (good portions and always hot) and they cater for vegetarians and also make our dog welcome (he treats the bar like his second home and always waits for his treat 🤣) I just want to give them a mention as they deserve some credit for how hard they all work!

The atmosphere is lovely and the food is delicious but as someone with a gluten free diet the menu has become quite limited over time. First time ever having a bad meal here was very disappointed - we went for sunday lunch which is always my go to love it here but the meat was undercooked and the chicken skin was fatty the veg was rock hard the potatoes were massively undercooked and got 2 of them ! yorkshire was sloppy and burnt - we did mention it to the staff but little was said other than sorry and considering we are regulars here would have thought it at least deserved a drink on the house or discount but no ! we usually recomend this place to everyone but wont be returning for a roast again - such a shame

Roast Turkey was perfectly cooked, moist and great flavour with a generous portion size, together with attentive and polite staff, a selection of beers and wine it really was a Sunday lunch to remember. Before lockdown this pub was a favourite for dinner having great food and ambience. We were surprised at how the place had changed. The food was good but run of the mill pub grub with a few specials a real change from the past. But the real shocker was the stare of the place, frankly it was run down and cold. The walls and fairy light cables were festooned with cobwebs, the fire unlit and the only apparent source of heat a plug in oil filled radiator. So different from the past. The staff were very pleasant and as we said the food good. But the place could do with clean and given the time of year, some decent heating.

Went twice within a week, Sunday lunch, very busy and Tuesday lunch, a little quieter. Probably the 6th or 7th time my extended family has eaten here and ALWAYS thoroughly loved our food. The Sunday lunch girls worked their socks off and were absolutely brilliant. This is my second 5 star for this pub. Always try and visit when I visit my mum in a nearby village when we come down from Grantham. There is one very annoying niggle I have and I hope the management can change their policy. They will not let you add a tip to your bill when paying by card. Society is becoming more cashless, and I wanted to tip our superb waiting staff well. Unfortunately, they got far less with the few quid we could, (embarrassingly,) coddle together. I get there is a minor charge, but crikey, please consider a change!! Nomatter what, we will always return to this beautiful, proper pub, nestled in a quintessential country village. Thanks again.

The Queen Inn is as special an English pub that one could find. It is nestled in Dummer Village, a place that dates back to 1087 and is full of thatched roof houses and was often visited by Jane Austen. The pub is run by a lovely woman who has a keen mindset toward service and good tradition pub food. Don’t miss the bangers and mash, and the specials on the menu add a very nice touch. It’s a reasonably priced menu and the food portions are great value. Do not miss it if you are anywhere near the area. It’s a real find! Easy access off the M3 motorway.

Great meal on Sunday ... Beautiful roast, great service, and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately it was completely ruined by the table of 5 that turned up. 3 women with the loudest screeching laughs, 2 guys bellowing over the screeching .... Everyone in the restaurant was turning and staring. We were almost unable to hold a normal conversation over their shrieking! Totally unnecessary and unfortunately out of the control of the staff. Pre booked a table for two to have a meal with a friend. The table we were shown to had been put up against a bench type seat with us both sat side by side looking on to the end of a table that had been arranged for a party of 6+. There was no way one of us could sit facing the other to talk. I felt like we had been shoehorned in and were spectators of the large group on the table opposite us! The food was delivered swiftly and was good. Once we had received our food the waitress checked back to see if everything was ok. After that we couldn’t get the attention of any of the waitresses as they moved from one large party on one table to the next. In the end we got up and went to the bar to ask for our bill. We would have had further drinks if we could have gained the attention of one of the waitresses but decided to move on as that was not going to happen. I have had good service and food here on a number of occasions previously but was very disappointed this time. It was a shame as this is one of my locals pubs. Not sure I’ll be rushing back in a hurry now.

What a shocker! Stopped on a way to the hospital, wanted a treat and , as so many give good reviews, I expected a lot. The service was dire. Nobody came to check if the food is ok and the pub was not even half full.., the food was bland and poorly prepared, served. My new potatoes were replaced by … chips??!!! For a salad??? The salmon tasted horrid and tasteless. There was not much of the beetroot either… just random veg thrown together. “The sauce” did not have any brie - it was just a splash of cheap mayo! “The crispy” pork was NOT crispy, it was bland and “the sauteed” potatoes were just some old roasties… the gravy was also completely flavourless. The place is dirty, cobwebs handing behind the seats , around pictures and on walls and , even around the radiator standing in the corner . The tables were so sticky my arms stuck to them??? Even if they cover the tables with something that looks like a toilet paper(??!) . When I asked to take the remainder of the salad with me the waitress returned with a shocking old container (???!) obviously I am not going to eat from some stained old overused plastic takeaway container..looks older than my grandmother. I have wanted a treat before the hospital and all I got was an overpriced , bland and not fitting the description on the menu food! I wanted to try the roast many praise but I will avoid this place now for sure. Shame for my wasted time and money

Lovely atmosphere, and very full, perhaps due to the Mothers Day weekend. Great pint of beer (Tommy Taylors). As walkers completing the route from Reading to Southampton, part of the pilgrimage journey, Camino Inglés de Santiago, it was a shame that licensee's attitude was clearly that of someone 'slightly irritated' by just lunchtime drinkers 'taking up space', however temporarily.
