Our visit was a mixed of good and bad. We were very disappointed because on the day, pizza wasn’t available and that was what our children wanted to eat. Other items were not available from the menu and it was quite confusing to decide on something and then be told it wasn’t available. After we finally ordered, we asked for a chicken burger to be completely plain, just the bun, the chicken and lettuce but instead it arrived with a jam/ketchup and we had to send it back. This was quite upsetting for the child that ordered it because at this point he was really hungry and ready to eat. Also, the pies were described as steak and kidney but what arrived were chicken and mushrooms. When we told our waitress she wasn’t aware that there had been changes on the menu. The crab cake and the vegetarian burger on the other hand were quite nice, although unfortunately there was a wait of nearly one hour between the starters and the mains. Our waitress was really lovely and kept checking on us and apologising when something wasn’t right but this didn’t stop our experience being less than ideal.

The reservation system failed. Anyway, we turned up and got a table, not busy. Nice restaurant and layout, good decoration. Three real ales were off. The food choice was excellent, and our food was good and timely. Service was good, but they forgot the kids' crayons. Looked like a lovely setting outside. Beware the River, and keep an eye on young kids.

Staff are very good here, the waitress that served us was absolutely lovely and the atmosphere is also really nice. However, the food we ordered was disappointing. There is room for improvement with the food to encourage a continuity of customers, as we will not be returning to eat. We had seen mixed reviews and thought we would chance it, perhaps it depends on your order! We had the steak and a chicken burger, which we would not recommend. The steak was practically inedible, it was so tough and chewy, I don’t think I’ve ever tried such a bad steak. The prawns were nice. The chicken burger was ok, but again overpriced for the poor quality produce and cooking. Chips for both meals was cold. Very disappointing as this has a lot of potential to be a very nice place to go for a meal. I overheard 3 other tables around us that were also disappointed. I appreciate the need to make money from a business, but I would recommend focusing on improving the food quality because then people would actually return.

We were a large party on good Friday. We pre ordered. This was checked on arrival to ensure our order was correct We had an additional guest who ordered on the day which was no problem. Cheryl our server was exceptional. Cheryl created a warm and inviting environment. Any request wasn't to much. We had a wonderful afternoon. Thank you Cheryl.

Popped in on the off chance we could be fitted in as there was 8 of us and one dog, lovely round table away from everyone else, lady taking our orders was so lovely and knew her job well. Food and drinks took a while but it was a Sunday afternoon. Kids ordered the turkey and sausage roast, no sausage to be seen on either plate! Also a different waitress started clearing the plates away before we had finished, clearly a big no no in restaurant etiquette but she carried on. Anyway food was lovely and the place was lovely, just a shame about the missing food etc.

Thank you to Longbridge Mill for making our wedding reception so special. Everything was just perfect, the service from Sophie, Lauren, Lesley and Anna was excellent they made all our guests feel so comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. My son Ethan (1yrs old) took his mummy for a Mothers Day Meal yesterday (10th March 2024). I was also invited along being that I was transport and finance manager for this outing, I'm also known as Daddy. I can not compliment the food, the staff, the service enough. We arrived a little early, our table was ready for us, we were given a high chair as requested (for Ethan, not me). The services was spot on, long enough for us to browse the menu's whilst keeping a 1yr old entertained. We had the set Mothers Day Menu, which in itself was sensational. Top marks to the chef. I had the chipotle chicken to start as did my better half. I then had pork belly, whilst Mummy had the beef. We were sat looking amazed at just how good the food was, the place was rammed yet the standard of the food was so high. Portion size of the main was spot on, I'd go as far as to say it was more than I had expected, with extra veg coming out separately and most important a decent amount of gravy. No one likes stingy portions of gravy. We were both feeling very full at this stage, Ethan was on the floor by this point playing with a chair leg (kids hey?!). We pushed on through to dessert, I went for the sticky toffee pudding and the wife had the chocolate brownie. Again, we were not disappointed, the puddings were delicious. All in all it was a magnificent visit made perfect by the quality of the food prepared by the chef and the perfect service from the staff. Very rarely do you ever come away from somewhere and not have one single thing to complain about, we 100% will be coming back. Special mention to Maddy, she worked tirelessly all through the time we were there, although very very busy she was always happy to help people and had a smile on her face. She is a compliment to your business.

About a year ago i had a bad experience on fathers day. The food was not very good. The service was very slow and they run out of most things. But before that i used them for a year with no problems. I decided to give them a go this year on mothers day. I have never seen a place so packed with long queues. We did have to wait a little while even that we booked but they handled this superbly. We did have to wait a little while for our food and drinks which was to be expected. I will say the food was excellent the waitress service was good and we definately will be going back again. The only little fault i would pick at is they did run out of some starters. But all in all well done longbridge mill we woll be going back.

We, a family of 4, went in for lunch. About 30 min, we were really disappointed as no one had come to take our drinks order (!). But once they realised they had missed doing this, the manager and the staff did a real turnaround. After apologies and offering to give our drinks free (yeah!), they really sped up the order and brought the smiles back. Clio did a stellar job in getting thing moving and winning the customer back. The food portions were excellent and we all really enjoyed the afternoon. We surely will be back!

Mothers day, a total fiasco, food ok, staff excellent, unfortunately the management thought more of getting as many people through the door as possible, which obviously didn't work. The kitchen couldn't cope. Our table was booked at 2.30, my disabled patents had to sit awkwardly next to another families table, for ours to become available. FOR 25 MINUTES. So table booked at 2.30, our meal finished at 6.30. Ridiculous. Thought more of money and covers than, families trying to treat their mothers. NEVER AGAIN.

Food was OK, Service could be better it was busy so maybe on a quieter night it might improve. Good settings.

Myself and my family had a wonderful lunch at Longbridge Mill today. Our waitress was excellent. Her name was Amy and she could not do enough for us. She was particularly efficient and polite. Quite nice. It's a nice big establishment with plenty of room, and I imagine come summertime it would be lovely to sit outside. The menu is pretty good. The food was nice enough but nothing amazing if I'm honest, I had hoped for a little better. All in all though, pretty good. Worth a visit if you're in the area and want somewhere for lunch.

We had lunch in Longbridge Mill on the way home from Reading. Services was quick and good and all food tasted lovely. They have a very good for value lunch menu at about £18 for 2 courses. Only down side is pub is surrounded by garden and water there might be flies/spider on the window sills.

I think that the menu wasn't that good this time . The service was good. But there wasn't enough food on the plates apart from the roast dinners . Also I tried to scan the barcode yesterday and it didn't scan or work.

A local for one of our grown-up children and a regular for us. Good food and nice outside seating areas in the summer.

We had private dining for a birthday meal. Yazmin and her team were fantastic, start to finish. The space looked absolutely beautiful, And we all had a fantastic evening. Maddie, who was assigned to look after us was brilliant. That was a large number of us, So a couple of small hiccups, which were all rectified quickly, when it came to food, so thank you so much for this. Will definitely be recommending Longbridge meal and the gorgeous private dining!! Jade

Delicious food in a lovely atmosphere. Located by the river. The lamb duo was presented very nicely and cooked really well. Two of us asked for it cooked two different ways and this was done really well. A mini pudding and hot drink finished off a great meal served by Clio. Will definitely return.

I had not been here for a while and popped in as we were passing and to be honest, I wish we had gone somewhere else.The hardly creative menu and with a number of items not available with the need to pump up the heating a couple of degrees should have been a sign. The place itself is nice and the staff were friendly enough but the food is pretty uninspiring and looked like something you would knock up at home without making too much effort. We had two meals, the chicken burger and a mixed sharing platter. The chicken burger was actually ok but it was pretty basic and I could not sense the butter chicken taste the menu claimed it to be, this was like a takeaway burger you enjoy purely because you are hungry. It was complimented by the derisory portion of chips in a cup, what is it with this obsession of serving fries in odd things to make it look like you are getting more than you actually are ! The second meal was the £20 sharing platter, as soon as we saw it we just looked at each other and thought, is that it ! It was served on a large plate with a big empty space in the middle of it, presumably where the rest should have been. Each selection was spaced out on the plate exactly as if the portion control technician had been doing it to make sure they get their 70%+ margin. 3 half size koftas in a large bowl of sauce you would need at least 10 for, dry tasteless flatbread, some bland sticky chicken,a few fried prawns and hummus which to be fair had a nice taste it. This was a really poor dish that smacked of its too late now, we've got your money. We passed on dessert. Another disappointment was when we went to pay , we had downloaded a voucher that day and when we went to use it, it would not work as apparently you need to wait 24 hours, which I suppose is just the way it is but what I didn't like was when terms and conditions are brought into the conversation even before I had had time to reply. In that situation, and if the customer was really my priority, I know what I would have done It was not all bad, despite the above the staff were friendly and attentive, the drinks were reasonably priced compared to other similar restaurants and it is in a nice location. I may return here in the summer for a drink but not for food, there are better options within a short driving distance.

Went for lunch today and had Maddy serving our table she was very attentive and made sure we got everything we wanted promptly whilst being very kind! The food and drink itself was amazing and we loved everything that we got would definitely recommend coming here and would come back again!

The night started at 7pm and it was a very special evening. We ordered mains and starters which were limited but it wasn’t that big of a problem. We received our starters which came out cold , over cute and not very nicely plated. We let this slide and hoped that the mains would be better. We did mention this to the young waitress that served us. Our started were clears and main brought out straight away. It was clear that they had been sat under a heat lamp for quite some time as the fish was no longer crispy, £35 steak was cold and chewy and chips were cold. I told the young girl to bring the manga her over , no fault to her. The “manager” who was clearly not the manager and was just the most senior girl in the restaurant came to the table and took them away. She said do you want new hot ones… rather odd for you to ask us when clearly we would like hot ones. She said “it’s been a long day for us” which really isn’t an excuse as we are paying for a nice meal and experience. Anyways, we get our new food which is hotter but unfortunately my sisters meal was still cold. The clearly had microwaved her peas and not stirred them as they were cold in the middle. We just got in and ate now as it was 2 hours in to our sitting. We ordered a mature bottle of red that was just dumped on the table , didn’t even pour it or open it… we then got the bill. The bill came to rather a lot and we were nit happy as they didn’t even offer to give us a free drink after sitting in the restaurant for 3 hours and a bad meal! I was actually more shocked about the fact that even after this the “manager” failed to mention that they had a 40% offer on which we already knew about, but after a bad meal I would expect her to say we have this deal on so let me take that off for you . She was going to charge my elderly father double the bill knowing that the offer was valid…. I spoke to her about the bill and she offered 10% off. Not even the cost of the wine we had… to clarify that’s £15 off after having an awful meal. She told me that I should just “ask”. Really, if you have had a bad meal and experience I would expect the manager to just do these things and offer something as good will… not have to ask. Pretty shocked to be told that . I really wouldn’t advise coming here as they don’t know what they are doing , waitress was sweet but all staff was very young and felt a little un experienced. Food wasn’t great and atmosphere was dead - 2 tables when we were there.

Absolutely lovely waitress Cheryl who was informative and helpful. She was the lone waitress today 29.2.24 lunchtime and I counted at least 50 covers. Poor lady, she was cheerful and friendly, even made our desserts herself to save us a long wait. An appalling way for her to be treated by management.

Went for a Sunday Roast and used a loyalty stamp on the Vintage inns app. Have previously used The Cunning Man when having a Sunday Roast but found the atmosphere better and the portions good. The meal was presented well and our waitress Cheryl was very friendly and efficient. Also no 'canned music ' to spoil the occasion!

The Longridge Mill boasts a menu that caters to all, with delicious fish and chips and a wide array of vegetarian and vegan options. The beautiful location and ambient atmosphere make it the perfect spot for a relaxing meal. Plus, the service is great!

The service was excellent the food was horrible, I was served a fish that was over cooked and had no fish in it, was basically just skin and batter. Other people's fish looked nice I must of been unlucky. Not sure why they served it to be honest it was flat like a pancake.

Not booked, but turned up when passing by for a late lunch at 13:45. Got table fir 2 straight away. Good menu, both starters & main. The grilled prawns on both menus were very good so was the chicken. Skipped dessert as we were full Pleasant setting & plenty of space & room around. Will come again now we know what the L Mill has to offer.

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch with the family. Everything was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully, well done Chef and team. The plates were hot, the gravy was excellent and also hot ( amazing how many places serve a roast on cold plates and like warm gravy). They catered for my elderly mums appetite with a children's portion. Great service from the whole team. 👏 plenty of parking on site and also ramped access on the stairs to cater for less able.

The whole afternoon was perfect celebrating our sons 21st! There was 21 of us and to get all our meals out together and hit was incredible! The service was also outstanding all the staff were lovely especially Maddy who was our waitress. She was on top of everything and very attentive! Was so happy with the food service and the venue! We were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff, both behind the bar and at our table. Our waitress was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for her. We didn't have to wait for our food to arrive and what we ordered was divine. Our empty plates were proof of what we thought of the food! Everything was served beautifully. The ambience of the Longbridge Mill lends itself to a warm and welcoming visit there and is definitely the best pub in Sherfield.
