Stayed in the hotel. Paid $65USD/£50 in cash (ONLY CASH). No internet, no showers, no laundry facilities. The toilet was broken so I had to take off the back to manually flush. The beds were super uncomfortable but the sheets seemed clean and the comforter was fine. There was an old dusty fan in the room, but barely cooled it down. Not an ideal option, but the receptionist/bar keep was a nice old man.

Dreadful food . Not often myself and my husband go out in a Saturday night but decided we would try the priory plus had a band on bonus !! Oh no so wrong. The food was truly awful I went for the “ home made” steak burger not steak not homemade on a “buttered” bap wtf who does that with the cheapest of cheap frozen chips. My husband had lasagne and garlic bread which was a slice of toast with a vague hint of garlic. The lasagne was a very very cheap ready meal and inedible. And yes I complained to the pub to no avail so this is why I’m now writing this

A very traditional pub with food and live entertainment. you can be sure of a friendly welcome by Eric the landlord and his team. Very busy in the evenings but ideal for travelers as next to the station. I had a great lunch.

This is a basic down to earth pub. If you are looking for somewhere to go for a proper meal out, this probably isn't the place for you. What they offer is a basic pub, serving basic food at a very good price. The staff are friendly and the beer is good.

I love this pub... Down to earth great staff! There’s not many pubs like this anymore. It might look a little tired but you will never find anywhere in Dover that puts on great bands like Eric does! Total respect to Eric and his staff

First off, if you're the stuck up kind of person who thinks that paying £50 a night entitles you to be waited on hand and foot then please avoid for normal people's sake. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, absolutely nothing is too much trouble. Good beer behind the bar and the food is unbelievable value for money and bloody lovely. There's a sign behind the bar that says "come in as strangers and leave as friends" that sign describes this place perfectly.

While waiting for the train back to London we went into the Priory hotel for a pint. After looking at the menu we ordered fish and chips and a meat pie. Although we have had better both were good and the price was very reasonable. The place was clean although old and the staff were helpful and polite. A good place to wait for your train

Immediately across from the train station...yes, the place is gritty...in a most wonderful way. I would put it in a “must do” list. This is very much a local folks spot...and the people are real....When we walked in...it was like one of those scenes from the movies...all eyes on us! That said, we showed up with two young children and they treated us with warmth and great hospitality. The bartender, the cook and the locals took time to really welcome us! We ordered food which was actually quite fine...the point is...if you want an antiseptic environment....stay home. If you want real people and a real experience...stop in, have a drink and experience real traveling hospitality!

Thisi is a rough and ready pub which used to be a nice friendly pub on the way home from the train - sadly it just caters for rock groups and put a lot of families and commuters - bit of a shame really. Landlord is friendly though.

Waiting for the train back to London we had lunch at The Priory. it is conveniently right opposite the station. It is impossible to get closer to the station than here. The wine was served promptly and the lasagne was home-made and new to the menu. You must try it. It was delicious. The toilets were clean, the prices reasonable and the service friendly. A lovely pub.

Couldn't board the 1am ferry with my Flexi ticket so drove around Dover and surrounding area looking for a hotel that would accept my dog. Stumbled across this gem at about 2am and they were so kind to take me and my dog in! I'm a young female travelling alone and didn't feel comfortable sleeping in the car on the street on a Saturday night! Also, I had been driving all day. Very friendly and helpful staff - next time I'm passing through I will definitely drop in at a more sociable hour for a pint! Thank you Priory Hotel for your kindness and generosity! Thanks to you, I slept safe and sound :)

Showed up late afternoon for beer and grub after a great day in Dover. Food signs in the windows and on sandwich board out front. Was told the kitchen was closed. The food may or may not be good. The service certainly was not.

I have visited this pub on a few occasions and each time I have enjoyed it, the pub is well situated near the train station so it is ideal whilst waiting for a train. They have well kept beer and have a great atmosphere. Sunday is a great day in here for bands.

By far the most tatty; smelly and dirty place we have ever been into. Middle aged ( Landlady ) if you can call her that was bedecked in shorts and vest like a teenager and acted like a very crap one; surly; unfriendly; judgemental; if she smiled once she would have cracked her face! People were smoking inside....staff did not stop them.....décor was crap; just awful!!!

Old time local pub feel to the place, livly locals and lots of banter, lots of bands playing in the evenings, foods good and inexpensive, right opposite Dover train station, makes a refreshing change from most of the regimented pubs now days (wetherspoons etc), well worth a visit day or night

Lunch July 20, 2013I'm hoping that I am reviewing the wrong place because the other two reviews couldn't be more opposite than what I experienced at this pub. But I kept a very detailed travel journal and it appears by both pictures and name that this is the place. Directly across from the Dover Priory Train station, my girlfriend and I stopped at this particular establishment as we were famished after hiking the White Cliffs. This pub was run down, far more than any other we have experienced in Europe. We both had cheeseburgers as the menu was extremely limited. The burgers were lacking. I'd say that they were from a box and frozen, something I would equate to a Wal-Mart burger back home. The food took an amazingly long time to arrive. Though I had drank Guinness at nearly every pub/restaurant, I opted for diet coke here. The pub was also frequented by the shadiest group of men I ever have seen. All in all, Dover was an 'interesting' part of our trip but when I imagine a scene out of "Mad Max" or "The Walking Dead", I often think of the Priory Hotel Pub. Sorry.

My wife and I had the English breakfast. It was huge and was well prepared, a great value. great value. The Priory is very convenient if you're arriving in Dover by train. We didn't stay there so we can't comment on the rooms. We highly recommend the breakfast however.

Stayed here for a family wedding. Lovely venue with nice outside space. I was staying in the courtyard room, I was sad that unlike the main house the bathroom wasn't as fancy with a rolltop bath and for the price of the room expected toiletries to be somewhat better than a large pump action bottle. Breakfast was included but baked beans were an extra surcharge which for a full English I would think was as standard from my experience.

Had a fantastic meal! Had the steak and we was told it was supplied from Preston Butchers.. guess where our next meat order is coming from! Proper dinner and fairly priced! They don't do ale on draught, but understand why. Just ask. Kids were more than welcome to play on the play equipment outside and not sure why people would say otherwise! More than enough signs saying please be respectful with regards to age appropriate. Owners more than friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make us welcome Current owners been there over 12 years, must be doing something right despite the few bad reviews in my opinion . Give this place a go. You wont be disappointed.

Jamaican street food at amazing prices. Ruby, the barmaid offered a great welcome and was on hand to iffer advice about the awesome food. The chef's were receptive to food intolerance issues and a coctail, two starters and two mains came in at around £50. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

The shabbiest Costa that I have ever been in. All the chairs have rips, holes or stains. With so much competition they need to sort this.

It's was clean and tidy. Staff very polite. Prices on the other hand, not good. £4.80 for a can of orange and a bottle of water. Very expensive.
