Brilliant for people watching. Some right characters. Staff slightly slow sadly.

Nothing too memorable, but no complaints.

Normally come here for drinks, staff are always nice

Nice place, cosy and relaxing. Staff are always around and happy to help, the food is good as well and the beer selection also includes lots of choices.

Mediocre to say the least. Slightly untidy. No draught drinks. Alcoholic or soft. Steak night at £11:50 x 2. Asked for a glass of wine instead. Final total over £27:00. Because they served Shiraz not merlot?? One steak tough. Disappointed. Will not be back.

Typical Wetherspoons shop conversion, an older type. L shaped and no windows, aside from the frontal area, which is always hogged by the hard-core drinkers and smokers. Good service, efficient staff. Sold out of cod on my 5:30 Friday evening visit, but the Scampi was my alternative choice. 10 min walk from the station. 👌🎱🇬🇧💯🍺✔️

Been coming here for a year my assistance dog . On the 21st of January I was told my dog is counted as a emotional support Dog and don't count. I said my dog is not a emotional support Dog. And the new staff members demanded in a aggressive manner that I tell him what my dog is for I said i don't have to. ( seizure dog) Later on I felt bit unwell down to the man getting in my face and I felt I could fit. My dog is trianed in this and done what he was taught. Witch is bark 1 time and jump on my lap and start licking me . 5 minutes late the man came up and said because of my dogs behaviour I got to leave. I am going to take legal action

Was there for a drink with my best mate an we got kicked out for ppl saying we was being loud but all we did was talk abit loudly but there was other ppl in there banging on tables but yet we got kicked out the staff was really rude didn't ask want to know are side the manger just come up said he don't give a f just go so we did leave without coursing a problem

Poor customer service and very busy as the establishment is very small,

I went in on a Saturday night, the place was buzzing with several groups.. went in for a meal with a colleague after a long day, i was expecting the food to come in a bit later after ordering.. usually about 30/40 minutes in similar places on a Saturday night.. i was pleasantly surprised by being served within 10 minutes! The food was well prepared, at the right temperature. The staff were very polite and friendly.. they came in a couple of times to ask if everything was ok.. i enjoyed my experience and left after letting the kitchen staff know i had enjoyed my meal. Quite busy, but still managed to find an empty table..will come back at some point

Poor service even by Wetherspoons standards... Value for money, dreadful service and, in places, unclean and in need of refurbishment.

I love the Wetherspoons concept, great value for money in a usually friendly and welcoming environment, but a recent visit to the Eight Bells has changed my mind. The pub was only a little busy but with only one person tending the bar, it took a good 10 minutes to be served. When the food finally arrived it was cold so I felt it reasonable to inform the member of staff that I wasn't happy with both meals. She was apologetic but said she couldn't do anything about it. I asked to speak to a manager but she said he was too busy to speak to me. I persisted and a manager eventually approached me but instead of dealing with the issue simply asked me to leave and " don't even think about ever coming back here again". We felt a bit intimidated and decided leaving was the best thing to do in the circumstances. As we left the manager called me a " fat C ****". This was simply shocking behaviour and I suggest the Wetherspoons leadership team take a look at how this pub is operating. Don't worry, I won't be coming back. Ever.

Great food as always even better prices at lunch time. Served quickly and efficiently

Beer cloudy as it was the first pint pulled but was changed with an apology. Pint glass tankard is a bonus unlike the Noman Wisdom in Deal that has only half Pint ones. Overall nice friendly pub.

One of the better spoons that I've been to.

The food was great, the staff was friendly. The app didn't work unfortunately. The service was a bit slower than what I used to in Wetherspoons. In general, it's a Wetherspoon, you can't go wrong with a Wetherspoon.

Terrible place don't arrive at 8am when it's ment to be open because kitchen will he closed for putting order's away. If it says 8am open should be open at 8 people walk for miles to be told there putting order's away no kitchen till 9am

First time visiting "the 8 bells" didn't realise how big it was, staff were very polite and helpful, the meal was good and you get any drink in the price, company was good as well. Good time 🍻🍺

Have to tell you. Its not changed at all in here. Still excellent value. Good food, had breakfast. Nice and hot. Excellent prices. Was not as busy in there today managed to find a table. Service was quick. Everyone friendly. Toilets spotless. Coffee is such a bargain, limitless. If you haven't been, I can't understand why. They do vegan and vegetarian also. All good.

Was shocked when o ordered Steak and Kidney Pudding main course and within 10 minutes the meal was in front of me. Sad to say it had been Microwaved and the middle was cold.

Grim Dark 09.00 in the morning and Dovers finest collection of toothless inbred benefit dependant near do Wells are sprawled inside & outside in the sun guzzling weatherspoons finest selection of cheap beer uncontrollable feral brats can be seen running around inside occasionally kept in check with the odd shout of " Mercedes Tyrone " get here your foods cold a dark not very welcoming place staff are ok happy to chat and provide good service the food itself is nothing to write home about usual luke warm uninteresting offering I'd say avoid it if possible it's cheap and that's the only good thing about it

We ate here two nights in a row while visiting Dover. You order and pay upfront and your food is delivered to the table. The pricing is good and the atmosphere was nice and cosy (if you are away from the casino type machines near the entrance). The food was good and served hot. You might need to clear a table to the side on a busier night but this is a more budget friendly pub, so you might expect this. The pub was clean, even if there were sometimes glasses on a table when you arrive (they are cleared quickly).

Can't beat a wetherspoons for great value for money; great choices on menu , a small breakfast for £2.25,

Is this the friendliest Wetherspoons? Certainly the friendliest I've ever been to. What a great bunch of people. Even got asked if all was OK? Building exterior was far better than the inside but there were features such as the 8 bells. Quick service, hot food and a lovely sticky toffee pudding with a great portion of ice cream. Although the price of tea/coffee has risen over time, hasn't everything, it is still the best value I've ever come across and the fact everything has a decaf alternative is a big bonus, one in the eye McDonalds.

Cheap beer and cheap food is always a bonus, great meeting place for Dover locals, the various real ales are always changing and being updated which attracts a lot of real ale drinkers to the place!

Delicious fish and chips with the whole family + a drink. £40 for 5 people! You can't find it for that in the Netherlands! Good food in a real English pub! Recommended!

Wie die meisten Wetherspoon Pubs ist auch das Eight Bells recht groß und nett eingerichtet. Die Auswahl an Getränken und Speisen ist groß. Die Preise sind in Ordnung und auch die Fish and Chips waren gut.

Beautiful pub with many advantages, e.g. the large selection of beers, they even have Leffe on tap. Plus the usual large selection of food. But what's really great is that it's not the usual blaring music that's playing here, but rather none at all. This results in the rare case that you can have a conversation without writing to someone. Unreserved recommendation.

New experience having to go to the bar to order. The food was delivered to our numbered table hot and tasty. We had the small fish & chips. Had to go to self serve cubby for tartar sauce etc.

Been to a lot Wetherspoons and The Eight Bells is one of the best if not the best, I live in wales and every now and again we go to dover and we spent most of the time in the eight bells in the evenings and had a fabulous time, lovely meals and great service and atmosphere, will be going again 💯% 👍.

The staff at The Eight Bells posted a bag I left in the pub to London free of charge with next day delivery. I couldn’t be more thankful for these wonderful kind souls. Absolute legends. Thank you so much 🙏

Normally a great pub and would be at least 4 stars, based on my previous visits.However I was very disappointed today both the med salad or basic side salad wasunavailable on Steak club Tuesday.Many tables needed clearing and cleaning at 5 pm.A lot of food was dropped on the carpet near meand still there when I left.The wi fi was very slow but to be fair when it finally worked and speed of drinks to the table was okay.

Visited here after a day at Dover Castle. The food was lovely, prices excellent and the service top notch. One of the best spoons been to.

I found that the the regulars get served quicker than others but the meal was nice but tight with the chips but all in all nice

You get kicked out if you complain about your food! Not just you, but everyone that you are with.

Lovely place but very busy when we went .Long wait at the bar faster ordering via the app.

Stopped by with the family to get a full English. The food was delivered quickly and was delicious to the end. The eggs perfection, bacon crispy, hashbrowns not soggy and not too many beans. The bar girl was so nice and helpful, really made the place feel more welcoming and knew her stuff about the menue items.

Having ventured in two weeks ago for a lukewarm large Full English breakfast I decided to test the consistency and return for a second round. I have to confess this time was better - the food was hot and fresh, providing excellent value for money coming in at under £8 with endless refills of lattes. I noted some very minor scruples - only three tabs of butter (as opposed to four last time) and no tomato (I think venues opt out of providing this notoriously difficult to get right option). The staff were excellent,friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was fairly genteel, the TV was merrily lighting up one corner, whilst the occasional impromptu belch emanated from denizens of the booths. Keep it up spoons you are brilliant VFM!

All the staff are lovely they all work there socks off. Really good with the customers and all the food is nice.

Average restaurant and nothing special about it. My friend ordered burger 🍔 and it was very small and clearly frozen and not fresh. I ordered the small size pizza 🍕it was ok. No Tabasco sauce which’s very strange on the same-level restaurants. Chairs are not so comfortable, tables are not clean, we had to clean it ourselves!! I would not recommend going to it if you have the choice to somewhere else. We were visiting on Sunday, maybe that’s the reason we did have so many options.

It's a wethies but great staff and the food ok

The Pizza was horrible. I don't like it sloppy. But this one was like crisp bread with burned vegetables on it. Very disappointed. Normally I say something but we were in a rush, so I didn't complain. The best pizza at Wetherspoons I ever had was in Blackpool Seaside. Nothing came near this one. I can't really recommend a pizza at Wetherspoons anyway. Pizza is for Pizza Restaurants 🍕 Sadly the staff never read the bits you take out or into your order. No recommendation here!

Really nice traditional English pub atmosphere with reasonably friendly service. The food was ok, nothing special, but I wouldn’t have any problems eating there again. The pepper signs indicating spiciness should be taken with a grain of salt. I had the madras curry, which has four pepper signs, and I wouldn’t have known it was meant to be spicy otherwise.

What a lovely Wetherspoons.. The staff were super friendly, attentive, talkative, polite and very nice. (Especially, the man and woman behind the bar, who I think said they had known each other 9 years) they were so welcoming, to the point before heading home we had to return for another drink. We were so surprised to see a pint of Doom Bar for £2.10 and free refill Tea/Coffee for £1.04. The ladies toilets were up a couple of stairs and clean. The overall bar was clean and as with most Spoons a little dark inside. The bar was clean with a great display of drinks. There were some great pictures and frames etc on the walls. We also tried the new Mozart White Chocolate Cream Liqueur.. totally recommend this drink. All in all a lovely Wetherspoons, we would definitely visit if back in the area. The ales poured & settled well and tasted great. We could not have asked for more.

Nice location,food is fantastic

Very noisy on the Saturday I visited and filled with rather young people who clearly weren't used to drinking! The food was ahem, middle of the road, but the table service was fabulous.

Do NOT accept £50 notes here. Absolute shambles. Was told after ordering at the bar that £50 notes were no longer accepted in any Wetherspoons in the UK. Odd that 3 days ago in Deal, Kent, 8 miles away from this branch, that they had no problem accepting my hard earned currency. Shame on you Wetherspoons. Please stop treating us all like criminals. Some of us work hard for our money rather than illegally printing it.
