A lovely pub, we came in for a few drinks. A very dog-friendly staff and good array of beers on tap. Didn’t get to sample the food, but the menu sounded lovely!

Very popular pub. Full of all age groups having a night out in pub. Had band but would not really call it entertaining.

The open mike night (Thu) was brilliant. Some really entertaining and lovely music - a range of styles. Felt honoured to be part of it. The host was both extraordinarily talented and funny. A session with violin and guitar was emotional and exceptional.

Right by the sea great service good atmosphere

We had a great lunch here on a wet September day, landlords were both very attentive and so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back 👏👏

Nice place on the seafront, good atmosphere and the live music a nice touch on a warm sunny day. We ordered a seafood platter and it really wasn't to my liking sadly. I think the pub was quite busy so perhaps the food was rushed, as every seemed to taste the same. The prawns seems very undercooked and the calamari was tasteless and tough, the so called skin on fries weren't too great either. We left most of the food, so were rather disappointed, as we had been on an 11 mile hike from Dover and were famished. All in all a nice pub, but as others have said, a bit messy but worth popping in for a drink and if you are going to eat, have a look at what others are having, as the sea food platter made me for a short time, not want to see food.

Happened upon this pub when having a little trip to Deal for the day, a lovely large outdoor area by the sea. We had the sea food platter, a lot of food and very tasty. Service was speedy, not too busy but we arrived early-ish.

Friendly pub right on the seafront with good selection of gins. Also quite a few beers on tap including one of my favs, Neck Oil IPA. Worth popping by after 6pm so you can park for free at the Seafront parking area.

Went to the Port Arms on a Friday night when they had an amazing singer called Emma Black, her performance was stellar. Great 👍fun evening, friendly fun people. This place was buzzing, again singer brilliant.

Well-placed pub for lunch by the sea, with a view on the other side of the pretty white-fronted houses with flower boxes. The Port Arms and the King's Head share the tables (and I guess are connected) but have different food menus.

Poor service, expensive and litter in the outside seating area. Went in tonight and asked for a Cabernet Sauvignon, charged an eye-watering £10 for a glass. When I was given a glass of bog-standard WHITE wine the young barman said it was because he didn't have what I wanted. So he just fobbed me off with any old drink! I said he should have told me first, but I don't think he agreed. He then said he wouldn't charge me for the drink, promptly changing his mind and reducing his offer to the difference between the price I paid and the price of the Malbec he replaced it with. Very generous! Outside seating is in a nice location, however it's let down by large, open black bins overflowing with rubbish and lots more on the floor. Nice location but some attention to detail and training is definitely needed here.

We had the sea-food platter and it was OK. My parents traveled hours to come to Deal and we wish we had sea-food somewhere else. We know other businesses that do lovely sea-food however they weren't open round 3pm so we came here and sat outside. It was all deep fried, and probably frozen. I wish it was all fresh. The barman had an attitude, young lad with blonde hair especially. The decor was nice and modern. We moved to Deal recently and we've been to a lot of local places, but not sure if we will come back here again as the attitude was very off putting.

Been here a couple of times but ate here on Saturday. Food was good and service was great again right on the seafront adjacent to The King's Head and a great place to visit.

Had a fantastic night here last Thursday, Open Mic night. Great pub, great entertainment and they sell good wine (unusual for a pub). We'll be back

Nice comfort food. Very well located in Deal! Outside or inside, it is nice to have a tap beer (good choice) and some nachos or pint of prawns 👌

Good atmosphere. Musicians were excellent on 22nd July. I definitely want to visit The Port Arms again.

Beach view setting is lovely, nice beer selection but food portions are inconsistant and waiter couldn’t care less. Nachos were nice. Expensive and not worth it. Much better off next door at King’s head.

Location is great but food was awful, the menu is fairly limited and we ordered whitebait which they had run out of, so suggested calamari instead, which wasn't even on the menu, when it came it was grey, rubbery and pretty in edible. I ordered chicken wings which were burnt so dry and again in edible. At no point did anyone ask us if our meals were OK. The staff are trying but too few of them as is often the case. Drinks were good and it was busy.

We stopped here for some lunch and the food was amazing. Definitely go and try this gem out if your about .

Chef serving the carvery roast was great. Very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Carvery was very good and tasty. Would happily recommend this venue. Location was great too. Right on the seafront. We had a wonderful family afternoon, celebrating Father's Day.

Came for Sunday carvery. £14.95 each. Very good. Meat excellent. Veg a little al dente but we like al dente. The gravy was great. Very good quality. Would come again.

The timeless Deal seafront on a sunny day, perfect.

We visited at a very quiet time but it seemed like a nice pub.

Nicely located near the sea front with a shared outside area. Live Music and a great rustic feel, definitely worth a try.

One of the best Carveries I have visited. The Port Arms and Kings Head have a close link. Initially booked for Kings Head, we were seamlessly transferred to the Port Arms for the Carvery. Excellent service and Excellent food. Quite affordable. A pub Deal can be proud of.

He was cutting and eating the meat with his hands which is very unhygienic. Telling me I’ve put too much on my plate and saying if he had of known I was coming he would have cooked more which has made me even more self conscious.

Been hers a few times for pizza and wine at lunchtime. Lovely menu, great pizza! Staff are always lovely. Really well kept bar and clean facilities. Would recommend for families, groups of friends and couples. Huge outside space to people watch and catch the sun :)

Ein richtig gemütlich eingerichteter Pub direkt am Wasser gelegen mit einem hervorragenden Blick auf einen Steg. Das Personal war sehr entspannt und schnell in der Bedienung. Die Nachos mit verchiedenen Dips zusammen mit einem lckeren Bierchen haben uns den Regen draussen vergessen lassen. Wir hatten eine gute Zeit dort !

We visited for lunch on a bright but chilly Sunday in March. Very much a tourists pub serving reasonable if unadventurous lunches. Staff were good. One cask beer was available: Harvey's Sussex and if have preferred a more local choice (Gadd's? Time & Tide?). Advertising live music three nights a week). Good views across the channel to France

We came in here as we were due to go to the kings head to celebrate our friends anniversary but the rugby was on so the Kings head suggested we eat at its sister pub for the quiet. Unfortunately my friends steak was not cooked as requested and was very sinewy which put her off eating it. My husband had asked for no veg with his pie....and got a plate full of veg ! And my cheesecake (which sadly was not homemade) came with ice cream and I'd asked for cream. 🤢 Everything was carried , uncovered (!) , from the Kings Arms to the port Arms...and where as they did deduct the steak we felt the evening, sadly, was not as it should have been. The dj came in at 6 to set up his set, to start at 9 !!! And tables were being moved around us which made us feel awkward. He then was playing / testing it really quite loud to the point we couldn't hear ourselves talk ! Sadly, we will not return. What should have been a special evening for our friends....was not.

Great service and friendly service

The actual pub is nice with a nice atmosphere and staff are friendly but the food is mediocre at best - we found the value for money not great in comparison to the quality of the food. I’m unsure at this stage whether I would return to try a different menu option.

Just went there for drink, after Sunday lunch at the Three Compasses ,had a great time music was really good. Good end to a nice day.

Nicely decorated pub that looked like it served great Sunday carvery , however we were unable to sit at a table to chat as tables had been pre booked for Sunday roast . When one did come available , nobody came to clear/clean the table . That said , it was a lovely place to visit .

We had the cheeseboard for two which was quite nice but no crackers and only two very small rolls each, when I asked for couple more was told would have to pay!!! Was very disappointed as thought cheeseboard was enough at £20

We tried several years ago and was not impressed. So after looking like they have had a revamp, looks very good , we entered . We WAITED AND WAITED . Eventually a stressed lady came out from the back . I asked for a menu please. WE WAITED AND WAITED yet again ,it may have been her first day perhaps . It seemed like more of a sandwich ,certainly unappetising menu . So with nobody else within we left and went to our favourite and highly recommended The Kings Head opposite . Have tried to refresh what the menu was but the web sites not working either .

Booked this for Sunday lunch during our visit to Deal. We had the Carvery and it was excellent. Tender meat, vegetables excellent, just right seasoning, could not fault it. Not the overcooked presentation you get at others, even parsnips were perfect, crispy on outside and soft inside. Roast spuds to die for. Very pleasant staff, attention to detail and am confident this place will succeed. New owners certainly have got a winning combination, good food, location (right on seafront) plenty of seating inside and out and very good value for money. Would highly recommend.

We had a Mothers Day lunch at The Port Arms. The food is served from a carvery and it was delicious! Everything was well cooked, there were generous portions, a huge choice of vegetables and it was a reasonable price. I was really impressed and will return.

Aweful food. Deep fried - no taste. Gravy cold, clearly everything frozen and fried or microwaved. Nothing fresh.

Visited as tourists to the area, had to wait ages for the food, way over 30mins for a simple hot dog and pizza. Food wasn't warm when it arrived, the pizza had gone stiff. Also very expensive for what it was, the young bar lad was really nice but don't go buying food here.

Met up with the family great meeting place,needed food, Kings head was a 40min wait so Port Arms was quicker..the food was not the best ,fish finger dog was so over cooked ,as was the chilli dogs and the steak sandwich was chewy !!! The chips were fine !!!! I know it's fast food but easy food to cook !On a happier note the beer was very good as was the wine .

Called in for a drink in the late afternoon. Staff were friendly and helpful and the service was quick and efficient. They had obviously been busy on the day we called in, but the tables outside were being cleared and cleaned quickly so that other customers could use them without too much delay.

The food was amazing but the service was bad we waited 50min to get served and then had to wait 35 min to get our food. We understand they were understaffed but the service was terrible and no apologies for the wait.

Decided to go here last minute for lunch and the food was amazing and excellent service !! Such a nice location on the beach :) we had the steak open sandwich and the fish finger sandwich which were both very yummy !

The Port Arms shares a large outdoor seating area with its neighbour, the King’s Head. There is a lot of space between tables, so it feels quite safe. You can order drinks and food from either at the same time, which is a little confusing,...

Stopped here for lunch today after long walk from St Margaret’s. It was great! This pub has seating indoor and out and is right on waterfront, close to pier. It is dog friendly and family friendly. We had a ploughman’s, a jacket potato and tuna...

Popped in one Saturday afternoon for a meal....hardly anyone else was eating at the time we arrived. Before ordering food I asked what was gluten free on the menu. The barmaid explained that gluten was wheat, and she was advised yesterday what was gluten free...

We had a Ploughmans and a Burger on a sunny Thursday afternoon and have to say the food was very very good. Probably the biggest & best Ploughmans I have ever had. The Burger with BBQ pulled pork was also very good. No way could we finish either of our meals. We did seem to wait quite a long time considering it was a quiet time, but the food was definitely worth the wait.

The food that is served is great and could not fault that side of it. Hence the 2 star review instead of 1.

It is amazing how reviews can vary so much. Saturday saw our second visit to the Port Arms - almost a year apart. This time, as before was an excellent experience. Sat outside in the warm sunshine. Lovely food ( my Mother-in-Law said it was the nicest fish and chips she has ever had). We sat inside on our previous visit as it was chilly and raining. Nice pub, good food. Will be back again one day I am sure.

Stopped for a coffee and a pint of Stella. Nothing wrong with that. Sitting outside is very nice whereas the decor inside the pub is not my cup of tea.

Stopped for a drink here whilst taking our dog for a walk, friendly staff, water available for dogs and our dog was even given a dog biscuit.

Uncomfotable at its best. In there tonight and an older woman was being recorded by a set of imbeciles. Poor lady. Nice staff let down by unfortunate cretins who would not even get a place on Love Island. I hope that people grow to be nicer to others not like the youth in there. Disgraceful.

My parents had a meal of lasagne which was inedible. They also ordered a bottle of house red Shiraz which was charged at £16. It was actually a Koolibura Shiraz which is made/selected for Aldi only. Costs £3.99. So don't bother wasting your money on cheap wine and bad food. Lots of other great pubs on the seafront.

Visited here on an early Friday evening, amazingly place was empty, but service was very friendly and a good choice of beers and wine for my partner. Did not eat here as we had a reservation elsewhere

We visited here one Sunday afternoon and sat outside as the sun was shining and we had a dog with us. We ordered 2 x Roasts, 1 x Mussels and 1 x Scampi.

Vi kom forbi for at få fish and chips og det var hele turen værd ! Sikken en stemning og god mad ! Fisken var sprød i sin dej og god sauce tartar.

Unfortunately although the location is good, however the beer is just far too expensive £5-00 for a decent Lager and even £4-80 for Heineken is not good value, I do understand its summer and they want to make money but between £1-50 and £2-00 above other pubs within 500 meteres means we will not be going again.

Has been a couple of years since I was here, as our coach pulled up near here we stopped in for a quick bite. The tea they brought out for my wife was very well presented, I had a pint of cider while waiting for our food order. My wife had a Gammon ham & salad wrap and I had the cod & chips both came served hot and both were very filling and enjoyable.

We had lunch of sandwiches and baguettes. All was nice, fresh and tasty. Grab your table number before going in to order as I had to make two trips from sitting outside as I did not realise how the process worked (order all at the bar). Service was pretty quick so can't complain.

The weather was lousy but the pub was snug and the small meal I had was tasty but probably a bit costly for what it was. Located directly across from the beach, I imagine it would be nice in fine weather.

Me and my boyfriend have come down to the port arms(visting family), my boyfriend had gone into order a round of drinks for us all and he was waiting a good 15 20 mins to get served and was completely ignored! People were coming in after and coming out first! I felt awful bringing him to my hometown to feel like that the people here were racist! We will not be going here again!!

Having been to the Port Arms to eat a couple of years ago & enjoyed it, we returned today with our Daughter & Family. What a disappointment! My 12 yr old Granddaughter has to eat Gluten Free and since our last visit the Gluten Free menu had disappeared and we felt a 'nuisance' arranging suitable food for her. My Daughter ordered a Chicken Burger for herself and when it arrived it was a big bun with just a strip of chicken covering less than a third of the bun! Ok there were chips etc but this was NOT a Chicken Burger. We did show it to the waitress and she could only agree! I could not believe it when the bill came that we had been charged full price for this! We will certainly not be returning! The waitress was very pleasant and we did leave a tip for her but not for the food nor the 'strained' atmosphere in the place.
