I would love this place for location and garden but every time I go it disappoints massively. Service is very amateur - young people who don't care - service is very bad and unprofessional - sorry but it needs an overhaul, such a waste of a place - staff sitting around drinking the owners profits - such a shame

I've been here maybe 2 or 3 times and always thought of it as quite a nice pub. So when a friend suggested we meet here for a dog walk and have a pint afterwards, I thought that it was a great idea. But we didn't stay long. Just had a really unwelcome feeling from the staff. Very slow service. We kept being told she was just coming, and then she'd disappear off and do something else... not serving other people who'd arrived before us but tidying up, which was a bit weird because there wasn't a queue behind us. She could have easily served us and then tidied afterwards. Then, when she did show up, she had to change the barrel. OK - can't blame the staff for that, but then after the barrel was changed she took my half poured pint, filled it up and then tried to give it to her friend who'd arrived after us. Because her friend was an honest person, he obviously refused and insisted that the drink poured for me was given to me. Her response... to tell her friend that he was very kind and to turn her back to me. Then we sat outside and I kept a close eye on my dogs who wanted to eat the cigarettes butts on the floor, of which they were many, and none had been tidied away, which is ironic when you think about her earlier behaviour to do with tidying being more important than serving. I'm completely baffled. Most pubs are very welcoming, without cigarette butts all over the floor (I've not seen that since the 90s) and they don't try to make their customers feel awkward. Maybe she was just having a bad day, and I should give it another try, but I don't feel that way inclined currently. I'm not normally moved to leave such a negative review for a pub and will either leave a positive review or just no review at all. But having had a night to sleep on it, I'm still aghast at being treated with such disrespect. I'm not used to it, it's not how I would ever treat anyone else and I feel it was completely undeserved.

Took 90 minutes to get our main courses. Happily served other tables who had arrived after us. Served one of us and then other two had to wait a further 5 minutes. Same waiter put food on another table inbetween without a comment. No apology for delay. Food served cold, but surprising was still ok. If you are thinking of going, get 3 rounds of drinks in to start and prepare to wait.

Monday bank holiday: we booked a table in the barn. The music was literally pounding, not background music at all. We asked for it to be turned down at least twice. There was a much reduced menu which we were disappointed about. Two of our party chose the tuna and two the pork ribs. The meals came on paper plates which again was disappointing especially as we were sitting at a table inside, we weren’t outside. The tuna was £25 which is a lot but to be served on a paper plate, ridiculous. There was so little meat on the ribs if I had two small mouthfuls that’s all there was! We left hungry. We weren’t offered any sweets. We decided to leave and get an ice cream in Marlow.

My booking was made on the day, and despite it being after 3.00pm, the place was heaving with people along with damp smelly and noisy dogs. That was quite off putting. It was just two of us and a toddler. At an average cost of £25 for a roast, I was expecting something great. I ordered lamb, but was brought beef. It was returned and I told my daughter to get on with her pork roast. She said her potatoes were hard and the pork skin was soggy. Overall it was too salty. No real fresh veg. We ordered £5 worth of Yorkshire puddings, qty 3 which came with a mini jug of salty gravy. My lamb dinner was inedible. Two slabs of tough bloody lamb. Long stem broccoli that was impossible to cut or chew. Hard potatoes that were not fresh and swimming in gallons (literally) of extremely salty gravy. My daughter had almost finished when I decided on soup as I thought this would be quick as to plate up another roast (they suggested chicken) would take at least 20 minutes. The soup took a fair while and didn’t taste remotely like leek and potato. Again too salty and awful flavoured wet croutons. The staff were pleasant and tried to help but something was definitely amiss in the kitchen.

The establishment is now under new owners and management, and, WOW, what a terrific place!! From the exceptionally friendly welcome to the bill-paying end, and the first-class food in between, this is a top drawer place to go. Wild garlic, leek and potato soup, and fish carpaccio got things going for starter, and a seafood pancake (10/10) and fish and chips (done perfectly, not a whale and half a field of potatoes) were brilliant main courses. A very well-priced Gavi washed everything down rather nicely! Service was punctilious without being intrusive, and the new ownership team seem most friendly and engaging. In a Dickensian theme, I’ll be back soon!

We went here after our registry office wedding which they were aware of and it was awful. No champagne available and only about 3 options for things to eat, we had a lunchtime menu. Food arrived and fish was so over fried it was unpleasant and beef dish was overly tough. We were left with dirty glasses and plates on the table for over half an hour to the point we had to ask a member of staff to put his phone down to help. He was on his phone several times where we had to ask to have orders taken etc. There were a few over fried bits removed from the bill and we were given a complimentary bottle of Prosecco which was lovely but certainly won’t be going there again, definitely not for the lunchtime menu anyway. An important note to add is that we were the only diners in the restaurant and there were only two people at the bar having drinks, they weren’t exactly rushed off their feet. We expected much better service for the money and the establishments reputation.

If you want good availability of food that arrives at the table all together, try another establishment. From sitting to 1 starter arriving at the table took 1 hour. 1 platter of veg brought to the table for 6 adult roasts. Asked 3 times where the 2nd one was. Eventually came 15 mins later when a few of us had finished. 2/3 dessert options were unavailable as was the kids vanilla ice cream. Repeat drink orders were never taken, had to visit the bar each time. They did remember to add the £40 service charge on though.

Disappointing.... Went here for a meal with the family on Sunday 18th Feb 24. The pub itself looks great, is nicely decorated and is big, the staff are pleasant but... We all had roasts, which came to approx. £24.50 a head for just that part of the dinner, they were served on small plates, the roast potatoes had clearly been cooked at some earlier point (possibly the day before) and then reheated, as they were soft, not crispy and had that reheated taste. To the uninitiated, believe me if you reheat a roast potato there is a certain taste. The belly of pork had crackling but that was no longer crunchy. The portion size against the cost of the meals were poor, sadly despite the friendliness of the staff they were almost impossible to get hold of as they were very busy, but due to the amount whatever they were doing it was almost impossible to get anyone's eye. We were sitting in the main part of the pub and were jammed up against a table made up to seat 10 people, fortunately for them and us, only 9 had turned up as otherwise someone would have had to sit on my knee to eat their dinner. So the good bits, the pub itself looks lovely, the staff when you can get hold of them are friendly and polite, but they need to get more staff, have less seats and bigger portions, and when charging a premium which £24.50 is be cooking everything from fresh on the day. This was our first time visiting, and sadly our last, final insult was when a 12.5% "service" charge was added for little or no service. We paid in full, but won't be back. Sorry....

This pub must have new owners because the whole vibe has changed. Although on the surface it looks nice, the garden furniture feels like it's going to break when sat on and the prices are crazy. We bought a shandy, a Doombar and one pack of crisps and was charged £12.50?!? I'm not sure I've ever had a shandy I haven't enjoyed, especially a Rebellion one, but this wasn't tasty. My brother had a pint of Doombar which again is usually easily well kept, but wasn't nice. We were considering having lunch when we arrived but when we saw a vegetarian roast was priced at £20 we looked no further. Seems crazily priced. At least they have a vending machine for dog treats though (?!?!). It was such a sunny Sunday afternoon, I think we would've been easily pleased but left feeling like we wish we hadn't bothered.

Firstly we had to get our own high chairs and then ask for the heating (in May) to be switched off, then they had a reduced menu 2 being fish dishes, 1 vegan and 1 burger to which they were sold out. No children’s menus available and £10.50 for a luke warm (probably the worst) sticky toffee I’ve ever had. Only thing this place has going for it is a lovely garden. Pizza disaster!!! Run out of mozerrlla and more. They had an issue a few weeks back with quite a few ingredients we made the mistake of going to pick them up and waited for another 30 mins ish after a 20 min wait at home. The pizza bases were still very good but the mix of ingredients was bad. We ended up paying the more expensive premium price for the pizzas and a glass of wine each why we waited for another 30 minutes. From a customer point of view after 20 mins of I guess trying different combinations they should have given us a refund and said apologies for the wait but you should probably go to another pizzeria. We went for the Margherita and the Thai one. The Thai one was very different so they must have run out of lots of stuff. …......….............................................. Went back in with my Dad. Waited 45 mins for our main which seemed like a long time. Had lamb with dophonaise potatoes which were both really good. Green stuff was nice. Although my Dad was not so keen,. Although that may have been because they were vegetables. Just popped in today - pizza is still the best in Maidenhead and you can take it away. ------------------------------------- The Thai prawn pizza is delicious. The fresh half lime on top really gives it great extra fresh flavour. Bravo. We got take away :-) ---------0lder review--------- Just grabbed my first pizza here in some time,. It was delicious 5/5. The peppers were slightly sweet and tasted great. Can't wait to try out the full menu again. Oh there is loads of covered outdoor seating. ...... older review below ........ Well have been back and they have the normal 3 courses on which is great. Starter was great with Moules Mariniere with parsley, cream and white wine sauce. Really nice. With I had a cloth to wipe hands though rather than the Napkin. The main was a 8oz ribeye with peppercorn sauce which was very good and medium rare which was great. Wish I had had some green beans rather than the salad though. And the lyonnais potatoes were good as well. I forced myself to have a desert which was sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream. Loved the crunch of the caramel but wish there was a bit more ice cream as I ran out towards the end. It wasn't cheap but then the prices are on a par with similar restaurants in the area. The Pizza is still delicious and in my view the best in maidenhead and it is also take away. Crispy flat crust the works is great. Get extra mushrooms. It's still nicely done up and the barn out the back is actually more luxurious than the main pub. Would we go back, - Yes

Three adults and one toddler booked here for a Sunday lunch. The booking process was easy and we managed to get a table last minute so v.happy. Staff were friendly on arrival, advised they'd had to move our reservation from the barn to front restaurant (which was absolutely fine) and we were served drinks quickly. Taking our food order took a little longer than expected and then it took at least 45 mins to reach the table. We didn't see any staff after placing our food order so no opportunity to order more drinks or ask for an update on food. We all had roasts - very good portion sizes and the vegetables came separately. I'd say the beef roasts do need a steak knife as the normal knives are just a little too blunt. Children's portion was huge. The food was good. We found a few flakes of something looking like foil or paint (not shiny hence why unsure) so with that, the long waiting times and forgetting to keep us hydrated (even after asking for more drinks), we decided not to stay for desserts or tip - which we're sorry to say. The garden looked amazing, it's very dog friendly and the food was good enough to give Pinkneys Arms another try. Next time we'll be a little more proactive (as we were too busy chatting this time) and will request the toddlers food to come asap / bring snacks as it's normally them that starts to get impatient before us adults!

Don’t eat here if you suffer from allergies!!! I asked the waitress if part of our meal could be made dairy-free as my daughter has a dairy allergy. She seemed confused by this. So I clarified ‘not cooked with butter’ and ‘no cheese obviously’. When it arrived it was clearly not dairy-free and also covered in cheese. I called back the waiter to say we asked for this to be dairy free. He went to the kitchen and came back and said it is dairy free. When we pointed out that it clearly wasn’t he shrugged and said that’s what the kitchen say so there’s nothing I can do. We had to insist that he took the plate back to the kitchen to check again. Again I explained it was an allergy and so important to be sure. Eventually he came back, plonked the dish minus the cheese on to our table muttered ‘sorry’ and sprinted off. At this point we had so little faith in the whole place we couldn’t be sure it wasn’t cooked with butter so my daughter didn’t eat any lunch at all. My daughter has complex allergies and carries an EpiPen. I don’t usually leave reviews but the way this place handles allergies is frankly dangerous and worrying.

A good informal dining pub. The outside tables in the garden are inviting. In this area of the country, there are high end pubs serving more ambitious food, but we found the food here perfect for a slightly more relaxed lunch or dinner (than the high end pubs). Friendly and attentive service. The Truffle Snuffler pizza was lovely. For us, the Pinkneys Arms was a 90—minute walk each way. We will be back.

Lovely environment. Parking was a bit tricky. Staff could have been a little more communicative. Great food.

Good quality food for a pub. Plenty of outside seating. Inside seating too. Parking is difficult so we drove along the road and walked back. Good service until we wanted to pay so we ended up queuing at the bar to get our bill.

Went for my husbands birthday. We only wanted a snack so had the charcuterie board for two. Really great quality food and fantastic service. The bar and loos were spotless. We have told all our friends that they must visit as we definitely will be 👍👍

Snug, cute pub. Friendly servers. Disappointed with fish and chips; batter little thick for tempura, not much mushy pea. Burger had good quality, tasty meat but lacked good quality bread bap. Desserts stars; really tasty, large portions.

Lovely, cozy pub with roaring fires and welcoming staff. It's mainly set up for dining but also caters for walk-in drinkers

Nice setting. Portion sizes small for the price. Posh fish and chips had an ice-cream scoop of mushy peas and about six chips!

The break I needed. After 2 and a half years of constant upheaval I knew where to come. Originally booking for the Wagyu I espied the specials board and went for the delicious apple and coriander soup, followed by a fantastic Beef Wellington, which I recommended to other diners and they did not need a second invitation. The pastry fell away from a beautiful cut of meat, and this all with super mash and so tasty gravy. Full, I thought, I needed a little time before I could tackle the 5 cheeses board all accompanied by appropriate red wine, LBV port and a liqueur coffee, Superb preparation for my 4 day holiday in Devon - I could not have asked for a better preparation. Thank you!
