Excellent FOH & a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect prawn cocktail & a juicy, charred on a grill, medium rare steak. Baked cheesecake to finish, with a glass of blanc de blanc Nyetimber. Summer was lovely in the garden. Now the weather is getting warmer in 2025, still a lovely pub.

We went here for Sunday lunch but although the food was tasty a few things we experienced which I hope helps - - Roasts - only options were pork and beef (over £27!), no chicken or vegetarian options and never offer chicken apparently. This we were surprised at because not everyone is that keen on red meat (including me) and love a roast but would rather chicken or vegetarian option - Over priced. I think this is the most expensive roast I have ever seen on a menu - Serving size of the roasts could have been bigger really especially given the price - Roasts - lukewarm - Only 3 x small roast potatoes included - Lime and sodas £3.50! - Waiting time from ordering to receiving the mains were long - Sausage and mash £18.00 and rather small, more of a children’s portion. For the price one would expect either a bigger portion or some greens to be included We felt it was rather disappointing, however the carrots and red cabbage were especially delicious. The beef was soft and it was tasty but very overpriced.

As a rare treat I brought my family for Sunday lunch, which we had all been looking forward to. We left thoroughly underwhelmed. The service was prompt which we appreciated. The menu was limited and contradictory; 8 main meals online, 6 in reality. I love a nice roast (as you are about to find out), but I didn't go for it as only 2 veg were listed online and none were listed on the physical menu. In the event, my partner ordered the roast and it came with a just-about-acceptable 3 veg, which was a bit galling for me. As there were so few options I went for the meal most onerous to make at home; fish and chips (stinks init). I regretted it. Even my work canteen does it better and that's the first time I've bigged up the work canteen (and probably the last). The oven chips were horrid - I say oven because who in their right mind would hand make chips to be exactly like oven chips? See you never.

We came to stay in Bray for 2 nights as a break with my mum and my 10 month old. We came across this gorgeous gem of a pub for some lunch and so glad we did! The staff were so friendly and accommodating with us and gave us a great table by the roaring fire. We had the fish soup which was fantastic and the prawn cocktail which was so delicious! We couldn’t resist trying the chocolate mousse for desert which was also amazing!! The atmosphere was great and we had such a nice time and would highly recommend coming here for lunch or dinner!

£4.50 for a slice of garlic bread is honestly taking the mick. I ordered the crown burger and sadly, I did not enjoy it. It was burnt and the bitter taste spoiled everything else. Was not worth nearly £20. My children had the same and left more than half as it was just really really not nice. The pub is really nice and cute, staff nice, but the food, for the price, not worth it.

Overpriced and stingy portions. My girlfriend ordered a veggie option and for £20 received 2 carrots and a bit of kale. I ordered the burger - the bun was overcooked, burger was overcooked and the raclette slice was so small that it might as well have not been in there. Thorough disappointment. The venue itself was the best part, but stingy food portions, overpriced menu and staff not solving our issues adequately means I would not recommend unless you just don't care.

It’s a lovely, welcoming pub. Fires were lit and good service. That is where it ends. I had turkey (that is how they described it on the menu). What I did get were just scraps of turkey, not a slice to be found anywhere, a hard small slab of stuffing, far too much broccoli and some carrots. The gravy was too thin and the roasted potatoes, well, they were just indifferent. My turkey was not eaten, except for one tiny, fatty scrap. Nothing said when it was cleared from the table. I was with friends so did not say anything but in any other situation, I would return my lunch. I know that opinions differ and whilst some people may not say anything, I have to. We were told they needed the table back by 2pm, that’s fine but at 1:30 , we were reminded that we had 20 mins left. I said 30 mins but reply was 20 mins as the next reservation was coming in at 2:00 pm. I guess they might have had to wait for a few mins until we got up. Starters were just ok, scallop not worth the money. No desserts ordered, considering the mains. I cannot stress how awful the food was, no taste in many of our chosen dishes and I must not forget the overdone Yorkshire pudding. Enough said. Will I return? No. I am glad if some of the reviews on TripAdvisor were enough to make you want to have lunch or dinner there but there are always two sides to every story. Sad and disappointed as ambience is lovely and the staff are always keen to help but, well you know the rest.

We recommended meeting friends at the Crown for Sunday lunch. We had to ask for our drinks order to be taken , then waited 45 mins for our starters . Another by us had waited over an hour for their main course next to us . Food really poor. Sunday roast came with a dollop of brown looking stuff which we were told was veg all chopped up to look like purée. We then ordered green veg which we were told was an extra cost but our meal was almost finished by then. Truffle fries tasted only of Parmesan on top, no truffle . There were flies all over the restaurant, which we mentioned to the server, she apologised . The staff were apologetic, undermanned and over stretched , no attempt to communicate or ameliorate issues . There didn’t appear to be anyone on charge . Heard other people complain too. And all for a very expensive price for a roast . Such a shame . Used to be so good . !!

I was treating my family to dinner, and I chose the crown. We sat outside as it was a nice evening. The waiting staff were very nice, and took our drinks order. The menu was OK, and I was finding it difficult to choose a main, as nothing jumped out at me. We started with snacks, which were OK, then some of us ordered starters. I went for the bubble and squeak, which again was nice, but not amazing. And the other 3 starters were very basic. The staff were very accommodating for my niece, but we all found it strange that there was not a chicken dish on the kids menu or the adults. My niece will only eat certain foods, and chicken being one. The service I cannot fault, but the food was very underwhelming. The bill came to £300, but we all agreed the food did not justify the price. I will not be returning again

We went to The Crown as we had previously visited and had wonderful food. Sadly on this occasion the food was far from wonderful. It is overpriced and oversalted I had a prawn cocktail and the last time I ate there it was delicious this time it was weirdly very salty and just not great. A lot of the food was greasy too like the fish and chips and all of it lacked in flavour compared to previous visits. I also had the steak priced £27 (for a cheap cut of meat flat iron!) it was so chewy a definite one to avoid!! My daughter is autistic and is a very fussy eater (my own fault but I assumed all restaurants would have chicken breast or chicken nuggets on the menu somewhere…. But we were surprised to see there was no chicken on the children’s or normal menus!! So I asked incase, but no they didn’t have chicken breast let alone nuggets. However they did accommodate my daughter making a plain pasta for her. The staff were polite and helpful. But another thing we found strange was it was a warm evening , almost everyone was outside dining and as it got dark there were no lights just one outside light. So eating food was tricky!!! Eventually as we finished eating some tea light candles came out on tables but it was too late for us. I found it strange they were no lamps or lights around the garden area. I fact my nephew hit his head on a wooden plank as he ran in the garden due to the lack of lighting. Overall we were disappointed and decided not to try any dessert. And we won’t go back again sadly. As we feel it is far too overpriced for the food that was presented. If I am in bray again I will be going to the hinds head as this is by far streets ahead of the crown I’m Afraid.

Disappointed with the Burns night supper, although the food was nice, the haggis was such a small part of the occasion, portions were smaller than expected, considering haggis, potatoes and (lumpy) swede are all so cheap this dish was not the main dish? The area we were sat in was ruined by a couple of tables shouting across to each other about the joy of being Scottish. We had champagne and water which were both left on our small table, maybe I was presumptious to expect a wine stand for the ice bucket? Staff were pleasant, atmosphere was not. Worryingly, there are two tables situated by a door that leads to the ladies toilet and is the fire escape, so women were having to sidle through the four men mansplanning the whole area. Unfortunately I am not inspired to plan a return visit.

We had, between us, for mains - the fish and chips (huge, chunky and delicious) to turkey (magnificent meat, gravy and all the trimmings) and confit duck (superb dish - just the right amount of meat on the bone with sauerkraut, potato and carrot). For dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding (looked magnificent), the pannacotta with heritage orchard fruits (turned out to be lovely quince and truly special) and the Black Forest pot au chocolat (beautifully made, delicious and not heavy at all). I want to thoroughly recommend the food, the impeccable service and the beautiful venue itself. Don't be put off by the negative reviews; we nearly were. It is a pub, a proper low-ceilinged, beamed, comfy pub with proper beers. It just happens to serve amazingly good food. Not "gastro pub" food, but straightforward pub food with good size portions of beautifully cooked fresh ingredients. The fish and chips was outstanding. Service is friendly and accurate; if it was a bit slow with the first drinks it clearly prioritised getting food straight from kitchen to table.

Overpriced pub food. £40.00 for a steak. I tried to catch the eye of a young waiter to order food as I thought he was about to walk away from the table next to us. I politely said “ Excuse, when your free, may we please order “ . He looked upset and said “ I’m serving this table at the moment “ which wasn’t necessary. It felt like a telling off. A simple “ I’ll be with you in a moment “ would have sufficed. The fish and chips were average. The Mushy Peas ( which had no flavour) came in a tiny metal container that looked more like a thimble than a serving dish and the tartare sauce ( which was incredibly bland ) came in a similar sized container. I would estimate that the portion of Mushy Peas was about two heaped teaspoons full only. I wonder what they would charge if I requested another thimble of Mushy Peas? Probably a couple of pounds. We ordered a carafe of tap water which when finished was never topped up. Overpriced, overrated and pretentious. Never again thanks.

The Australian in-laws loved the experience. The photos and decor is great, love the exposed beams. Food is good but it is getting expensive for a "normal pub". (I know it's a Heston pub :))

The pub recently underwent a change of management which we only found out on arrival. Food is decent, not spectacular. Service was attentive and prompt. The interior seemed a bit tired.

Nice pub in Bray. Have an outside beer garden at the back through a courtyard type thing. Recommend going outside when weather is nice. Food was good too... had snacks... Black pudding Scotch egg was delightful

Very disappointing. Ordered a burger, well done, nothing unusual. Burger came, cut it in half, still pink in the middle, asked for it to be changed. Same burger returned, it had been reheated, cheese on it burnt and returned to me in original bun, was disgusting. Requested the item be removed from the bill which it was then bill arrived with service charge added - Really? Shame, food has gone downhill since our previous visit!

Perfectly adequate pub food - a bit pricey. Lovely 16th century pub

Fantastic garden, very helpful and welcoming staff, food was lovely but the main was very small. Four of us ordered the same meal as it looked delicious, unfortunately mine was but portion was tiny and I left hungry even after cheese and crackers, although the others were a fair size. Next time I'll try something different as what I had tasted so good.

This restaurant has gone downhill. We decided to spend an evening at the crown as a treat for ourselves. We go to this restaurant from time to time over the years. After our cocktails which took a long time to come, we had to then prompt the waitress to take our order. I went for the Prawn cocktail and steak whilst my wife went for the breaded whitebait and steak along with a bottle of wine. The wine took a while to come, before our starters arrived. The Prawn cocktail was very disappointing, the prawns were extremely small and thin and of poor quality, I was expecting a thick, good quality prawn as I had experienced in the past. The cocktail with the prawns was a poor taste and low quality too. The whitebait was acceptable but nothing amazing. The steaks were of 2 differing quality, my wife’s steak was tasty but thin, whilst mine was chewy and seemed to be cooked more rare than medium rare. We had sticky toffee pudding and builders tea brûlée for dessert. The sticky toffee pudding had several sugar lumps in it, we weren’t sure if it was meant have or not, whilst the crème brûlée seemed to be cooked well but the tea flavour was not to my liking. Overall a shame that this Heston pub has gone down hill so much. Maybe we should have said something but we felt we it would have taken from our evening, although we were never asked what we thought.

I would love this place for location and garden but every time I go it disappoints massively. Service is very amateur - young people who don't care - service is very bad and unprofessional - sorry but it needs an overhaul, such a waste of a place - staff sitting around drinking the owners profits - such a shame

Just been around this store and saw the manager or owner or staff intimidating others that are minding their own businesses and abiding by the law. Is this costa person targeting marginalised racial groups? Well our community knows the answer.
