Went in to play an arranged pool

We turned up for a drink and waited for 10 minutes for a drink. No one turned up so we left. Shocking that nobody was there we will not return.

Nice pub to relax not too loud, have tv for sports, jukebox, cheap(ish) drinks, darts and pool, most of the servers are very polite and helpful, will be back for more =)

Staff ATTITUDE NOT WORTHIT it. Asked to leave because my foot smelled. Had walked from the bus in the snow. Still respect Dee, though, if only they knew, at Halloween I had LIVE maggots in my shoe 👞 and eating the dead flesh from my bones. Double hard Jon www.jragaming.co.uk

Cool bar clean and bright inside staff were lovely and I hear they are partnering with @smokingdrumcaribbean soon too so will definitely be back for that.

Don't do food, but didn't come for food, reasonably priced.

There is something quite lovely about this pub. Very friendly, lovely staff and very reasonable. You could play pool, darts, plenty of screens for sport.

Becareful. Ashford town centre has taken a dive in recent years. Good chance of having your drink spiked in this pub.

Left early music started to late

I love this place, Dee is great as are her staff. Warm friendly with lovely food beer games, etc.. just a great laugh. The odd pillock is to be expected. Doesn't detract from the overall experience.

It's not too bad of a venue. Great customer service. All the bar staff are lovely the new manger is great and friendly. The new owner is a great guy

People should give this venue another chance Chris is owner and Dee is manager and she great and summa the bar maid is the beat and the rest are very polite

Honestly gone down hill sooo badly. Used to be a great place to go but at 10pm on a Saturday night there was hardly anyone in there, there were barely any beers on tap, fridges almost empty. And considering it's a sports bar and the was a boxing match on, they didn't have any sports on! When we got there there was golf on the telly. They came and turned it off after 10 minutes even though we were watching it! Only giving it an extra star because they had a great deal on the few bottled beers they had.

Nothing has improved. No food, bad to mediocre beer. I know staff are having to wait weeks for pay. Premises especially the toilets in need of maintenance

Was just passing on my home and saw an acqaintance so popped in for one Service brilliant but stock on not (really boring real ale - Doombar - its gone out of favour long ago - so had Red) - have just left the premises Trying their hardest to get it back up to what it was - stock improved but products haven't really (the staff are lovely though) can only afford the odd one in there now and again - too much competition on price locally === New quetion "Has it changed?" No - staff really good: now have a 'Happy Day' till 18:00 when prices are lower then it goes up after that Rely too much on soccer in the season - so could they have a bad time till early August?

Needs some big changes if people are going to drink here going forward.

OK at least you can watch the football as a group in comfort without too much hassle

this pub was taken over by a new owner about 5 months ago since then the food side has been open about 4 times on a sunday and not during the week. the pub constantly runs out of beer, on one occaision of 16 heads only 4 had beer to them so 5 or six options of beer were unavailable

Most beers were unavailable leaving the best choice of lager at Carling!! The locals were not the most welcoming and there were two rather drunk individuals sparring in the pub!

Staff more interested in talking and then served regulars rather then other people who were queuing.

Good banter between rival fans when sporting events are shown. Cheap beer and food as you watch the entertainment. Sometimes understaffed at the bar, but they do the best they can.

Two pool tables that's what drew me in and it's large layout loads of tvs showing sport nice polite bar staff

I had my party with just over 20 guests on the afternoon/early evening of 10th Dec 2021. All the staff were very helpful and polite. Fiona the new General Manager sorted out everything, the food was great and enjoyed by all and at a very reasonable price. I really could not fault the service and the trouble Fiona went though to make my afternoon with my friends go so well. Jean.

Friday's and Saturdays, interesting. 1 pool table and plenty of seating. Good section of alcoholic drinks, including water.

My daughter was out in the town on a Saturday evening when she was separated from her friends and her phone died. The staff allowed her to sit in safety whilst her phone charged. Fantastic job guys, thank you so much ! very grateful Mum xx

Sticky bar, tables and floors, but does have a good atmostphere

Great to watch footy, once volume increase has been requested. Food very poor. Really must increase quality of food.

Typical sports bar not my scene

Sadly a noisy crowd in last night. High spirits from both adults and children. Impromptu karaoke on the next table which wasn't appreciated by everyone. Food order was very slow to arrive.

Doorman wrongly accused me of taking drugs and even though the manager had no idea what was going on they kicked me out and called me names even though I was sober and didnt swear at them. Worst experience I've ever had out in my life. I'm so insulted

But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised food was quite nice I'll give you 8 Out of 10 it's just basically bar food but slightly better quality food beers nice and lucky enough we went there where they went lot of people there so even better I would like to go there when there was a match on and people will the people there but when we went there was very quiet and it was reminded me of one of these bars in a holiday camp

Called here for a beer after eating in the town. Quite bright lighting, average surroundings and middle of the road prices. Came on a Tuesday night and it’s probably a lot more lively on a Friday or Saturday.

We visited on a Saturday afternoon, there were just a handful of other people there so service wasn’t too bad. The guy behind the bar friendly and working hard to wait tables and keep everywhere clean etc. Disappointed that there were so many TVs everywhere! We just wanted a quiet meal for the 2 of us, but they have more screens here than Curry’s! I don’t think I’d like to have a meal here if football on. The other disappointment was the toilets! It is clear they get quite a few drunk people here at weekends because they are in quite a damaged state. The first cubicle I went in the lock was smashed in, the next one had no toilet roll! As I went to wash my hands the first tap I went to didn’t turn on either. As I said, food was fine, but I’d avoid this place if major sporting events on or on a Friday/Saturday night.

Went to have cold one to cool down from the heat, big que of 6 ppl waiting stood there waiting for 20min, ppl infront left due to the long wait staff to be seen or heard of, gave it 5mins then we left as still no show of any staff, may as well do self service as nobody is working, 9 out 10 i see staff smoking out the back door or gone out to get food, so the place is poorly managed, I can see it closing if this keep up

Half an hour to get a watered down drink. Rough people. Crap music. Tables not cleared properly. Just don’t bother

Understaffed at the bar, took forever to be served. Served friends before others. Ordered same drinks every time but got charged different prices.

I been here while playing pool with mates Takes 20mins to get served to busy waffling ot smoking outside, seen ppl leave from the long wait, I just over heard a guy requesting food at the bar, then told kitchen not open till 5, when ppl where just served food prior to that person's order, on there menus it clearly states food served btween 10 and 9 nothing said about kitchen being closed at certain times. Previous visit I asked for one there big set meals on back of menu, was told they don't really do it that false advertisement, no wonder the place is dead

Been here twice now, a month apart, and I can honestly say it’s the best pub in town. Sport on large screen TV’s, sport on TV’s in every booth, pool table and reasonably priced drinks. And if you like large bottles of hooch, this is your place!Food is rubbish though, even 2 meals at £13 is overpriced for the quality.On a plus side, last time we went there was a Jessica Fletcher themed pub quiz on which made for a great night!

Travelled with work and found this bar to get some food. We were treated like locals and went in 2-3 more times. Great food and good service. Would defo go again

Beer prices good Sky and BT sports available good screens and atmosphere Food is ok for the price and service is quick and good.

Wanted to watch the championship game with a bite to eat and a beer. Well the beer is good and cheap but don’t eat Ordered a platter starter Scampi and curry mains. All came together and were average at best

Visited on Sunday afternoon to watch the football and have some food with friends. At 5.15pm they stopped serving food, staff taking the menu off the table whilst we was looking at with no explanation and no pre warning even though they advertise on their boards outside as serving till later. Don't know if this is a regular thing to stop at short notice but won't rely on making plans to do this again. They could have at least given everyone notice that the kitchen was closing so we could have ordered in good time

I first reviewed this pub on the 10th August last year, and I have to say there's been a 100% improvement since then.

When going out I like to look at a drinks menu so once I had chosen my drink my other half went to get the round... clearly on the 1st page of the menu it has cocktails so I ordered a cosmopolitan or 2 for £7.95 as advertised. However upon ordering they said they don’t have the jars anymore I said it doesn’t matter what glass it comes in really! When the barman then says sorry we can’t make cocktails anymore.... then why is it on your menu? So after refusing to make a drink that’s on the menu I went without... loss of money there! I believe it was the staff Christmas party that night as well the staff where sat drinking and jumping up when someone wanted serving god help if there was a fire or anything... ‘sorry the staff are even more useless now because they are all drunk!’ So at 10:45 they turned all the TVs off and kicked everyone out no warning and clearly didn’t care about the business at all as they all rushed out to go clubbing. Not a good impression, will avoid as much as I can!

Truly dreadful customer sensitivity.

Up until recently we have been avoiding this bar as on our previous visits we found it dirty, unwelcoming and badly run. Its the complete opposite now. Friendly helpful staff, clean pub, good basic food and a great atmosphere and for a sports bar my female companion found it comfortable.

Fancied a Steak. Not bad. Good portion size. Couldn't clear the plate. Nice background music. Nice Shiraz.

Such a shame about this pub because it really does have Potential, the location is perfect, it has a great selection of beer if you only like Lager and not Real Ale...( Hint for you get some Real Ale's ! )

Just rude rude rude. The guy behind the bar needs customer service lessons... or his manager needs a strong word with him. Rude won't return.

I had the misfortune of living above this dump for 15 months. They have a live DJ until 2am on Friday and Saturday night, which we could hear two floors up. Had to go down there many times to tell them to turn the music down, which they did for all of ten minutes. Fights outside, staff are rude and don't really care. The chef wears dirty overalls and they just lost a star rating, so no longer advertise it. Manager gets rude if you complain about the poor quality of food too. Patrons pee down the alley at the early hours of the morning.

A couple of friends and I were in the Phoenix at 5 in the evening. The Manager Aiden came over abrupt and rude asking for one of my friends. She said 'yes' and he asked for her ID. She said she was not drinking, not even a soft drink and that she didn't have any ID anyway because she was 16. He said he saw her at the bar ordering drinks, to which we all said she didn't and he then changed what he was saying, saying that he's the manager and when he wants to see an ID he can. She then again said she didn't have any because she wasn't 16 and wasn't drinking to which he said she needs to leave by 7pm. Not only was the service disgraceful but the 'manager' made a 16 year old feel uncomfortable and upset. Joke of a pub.

Waited an hour for food even though it wasnt busy at all. After waiting 50 minutes were told they didnt have any panini's, which we could have been told before. Also ordered sweet potato chips with cheese and bacon, which had about 5 chips in so sent them back, 20 minutes in still no chips! I have eaten here before and its been nice but after this time i will probably never eat here again! Am very disappointed

Great atmosphere to meet friends for coffee and food. Not too expensive two meals for a £10. Food nicely presented well cooked and yummy veg breakfast. In the evening transformation to Google bar, disco once a week and beer and cocktails.

Have been twice for lunch since it reopened. 1st time waited nearly an hour for food & when it came out it was cold. It was newly opened then so came back to give it another ago as it was more established. Big mistake 2 bar staff weren't friendly or engaging ordered food for 5 of us was quiet & only a1 couple in front of us had also ordered. Still took 45 mins for our food to come out & only because I presume it was the chef came down & shouted to the bar staff who seemed more interested in their mobiles that food had been sitting in the lift for 10 minutes. No apologies when it was finally bought over. Won't be back

Went in with my husband around 3.30 pm, place was empty, ordered sausage and mash and an all day breakfast, sausage and mash came with peas like bullets, breakfast came with over fried eggs and chips that tasted of chemicals don't think oil had been changed for a while! None of the staff came over to check everything was ok with the meal, they were too busy gossiping loudly about other staff members, which included the use of foul language.

Excellent visit went with children grandchildren and great grandchildren they were really good and food was good.

Went in for a cheap lunch and that's what we got, but did take some time to receive the meals (about 30 minutes) which were meals such as cod and chips and ham, egg & chips. Biggest downside was the kids meal which was some fish fingers took almost an hour to get when that should have been the priority to get out and we weren't informed on it being a long wait or a reason for it.

I am very much a regular at the phoenix since it reopened. The food, the atmosphere, the staff are all great. I happily come in with family for food and with friends to drink. The DJs they have at the weekend are amazing and certainly keep the crowds entertained. Feel safe whenever i am here.

Being a Spurs fan, there was only one place to go to The Phoenix. Wow what an atmosphere, it seemed everyone came here. The staff were flat out serving (I think they underestimated how busy it would be! ) But I was served quickly. There was one little scuffle that started at the bar but what looked like the manager, was straight away in the middle of it and cleared the problem. (Well done I have never seen 2 guys walk away like naughty school boys.) This is a site where on my own in a male dominated atmosphere for football felt completely safe.

If you want fine dining, don't eat here! If you're looking for cheap and cheerful then the its perfect! Its basically the same as it used to be, but to be fair that why I like it!

Good choice of drink, but another chain with a lack of community atmosphere. I did try the haloumi wrap which was nice, but the sticky floor by the bar was not on a Saturday afternoon.

Looks the same as it did before it got shut down, very dull and gloomy, nothing's changed, Went for lunch then chicken was tough, won't be going back again! Iv been sick all night and morning with a bad tummy because of there food! Seemed dirty and grubby, Who knows what state there kitchen is in!! Very disappointed!!!!

Ventured here for a quick lunch on Monday. It was our first visit since reopening but it looked like they had literally just closed their doors for two years and then reopened them again with no effort whatsoever. The decor was exactly the same - dull and lifeless. It also felt rather empty. The service was very slow considering there were very few customers and the lady who served us also didn't seem to have a clue what she was doing. There was also a man who worked there who kept singing 'I love my job, I love my job'! I'm guessing he didn't really love his job as this came across as VERY rude!! The food was okay when it came to be fair. I wouldn't recommend!!

We were so excited to hear about the Phoenix re-opening, but we get here and not only is it exactly the same as it used to be, but...no ice on the opening weekend?? No lemon, no lime?? Really??! Come on!
