Great pizzas. They're huge - be prepared to share. Get a starter pizza and then a large to share per 2 adults. I prefer the simpler ones - the ham and mushroom is divine - my wife prefers the Moroccan lamb. We took some American friends and they loved it. The manager/owner came out to say hello too, always a nice touch.

Great choice of pizzas and they tasted fab. Really different toppings. I also had home made slaw which was also really good. Will definitely go again.

We arrived at the pub with very little information other than it was close to the river, where we had moored for the night. We were a little surprised to be handed a pizza menu, and initially concerned as one of our party has a dairy allergy and pizza is usually a red flag for dining. The staff were really helpful and accommodating, making a dairy free pizza with vegan cheese and also regular pizzas for the rest of us. There was no mention of this on the menu, so you do need to ask. All of the pizzas were delicious but enormous and the staff kindly boxed up the leftovers for us to take away.

Have been visiting this place for a year or more. Discovered one weekend coming back from a walk. Pefect for a pizza and pint of Tribute after nice north downs way walk. Favourite pizza with anchovies or sausage with mushrooms.

Quite simply the very best pizzas you will ever have! They are extremally huge so you can easily share a pizza. They have a very interesting and unusual selection of toppings, highly recommend. The pub is dog friendly too, highly recommend!

We visited on a cold January Friday evening, there were 6 of us for a mates catchup over dinner and a few drinks! Upon arrival, there was a warm friendly buzz, a toasty fire and comfy spacious environment in a stunning traditional pub. Clearly nice clientele. I was a bit wary of how the food would be, only because I'm not a pizza lover and a vegetarian - all personal preferences, granted. Importantly, a vegetarian would be fine here, plenty of veggie pizza options, and a non-pizza main on the menu (albeit with Parmesan, which is not 100% veggie). The important thing to note is that the food is exceptional quality, the menu is compact and specialist in pizza, but that gives the opportunity for the kitchen to focus on producing top notch food. The build you own option really expands options beyond just a pizza. I opted for the non-pizza veggie main, Aubergine Parmigiana - absolutely cracking. Really tasty, home made, piping hot, served with a delicious fresh flatbread. I also ordered the refried beans and garlic bread - just great. The rest of my party ordered an array of different pizzas from the menu. All were enjoyed, the portions were just right, catered for everyone's appetite (options to box-up remaining pizza). The fries were great, as were the Olives and Bread we ordered to nibble. Often olives and bread can be disappointing, but these were quality, plump olives and enough to share, served with warm chunks of bread to dip in the olive oil. Drinks were great, wide variety. The staff were switched on, diligent, friendly, communicative and welcoming. No pestering and willing to accommodate. We also had a dog with us who was quite happy lying by the fire nibbling on the Bonios provided by the pub. The toilets were clean and tidy, and two doors away from the eating area. All covid safe - the tables were well spaced, all staff wearing masks (and some customers who weren't consuming). I also emailed the pub in advance just to see what the veggie options were. I received honest, quick and friendly responses from Jeremy. All service was quick and accurate. To Jeremy and all the staff: thank you.

This is our favourite pub in Guildford, hands down. The food is amazing (huge, delicious pizzas as well as assorted other staples and specials) and they’re really child and dog friendly, with colouring and dog treats freely available. Lovely twinkly heated garden outside, with undercover areas, and cosy fires indoors. We’ll be back soon!

Went with a friend for an impromptu visit. Great staff, drink selection m, sat outside & ordered a green pizza! OMG, one of the tastiest pizzas , as a vegetarian it’s not always easy to get a great pizza. Service & friendliness of staff exemplary for a local pub. The team were absolutely lovely with such a friendly atmosphere. Great pizza (as always!) especially the Mexican which has just the right level of heat. Good selection of beer as well.

The pub is cute and traditional looking, but that’s where the hood experience ends. I’ve been there a couple of times and I find the customer attention quite poor and the food mediocre. On customer care, they objected to me closing the open back door leading to the garden seating at 9pm in when a cold draft was hitting me straight in the face. They said the waiters needed to get out; in the meantime we froze indoors while outside they had heaters! The arrogance was astounding. Also the other day when I last visited, they didn’t serve the clearly adult son ( he said he was 29) of a family out to celebrate his birthday at the next table because he had no ID. Clearly ridiculous, and they refused to get the manager to give a second opinion. The arrogance was shocking , especially as the guy, we reckoned, looked over 30!! Appalling customer service, reminiscent of what one imagines the Soviet era served up to those poor Eastern European’s! We couldn’t believe it. The family unfortunately had to leave and go elsewhere so that they could order a drink to celebrate! They were furious and we told them the waiter he was unbelievably arrogant. Now to the food… they make an effort to make it look good on the website, but really it’s cheese on toast, loaded with garlic and a couple of basil leaves for sophistication. This is pub pizza, not pizzeria pizza. Need to try harder guys, sorry :-(

Popped in whilst visiting friends, hadn't been back for a number of years. Nothing much has changed, pizza is still tasty and they have a good selection of beers and wines. Car park not huge but there is deregulated parking in the lane opposite.

Hemos estado en el barco varias veces desde que el día de Año Nuevo con amigos. que siempre ha tenido buena cerveza y sidra de barril, el fuego crepitante y el servicio amable. También nos gustó mucho la comida, en particular la pizza.

Pedí un puttanesca que parecía prometedor pero había 2 rodajas de salchichones y 2 anchoas y el resto fue aplastado pimientos secos y un poco de ajo (pulverizados?) y el queso capado fue recocido. En general no tiene una buena relación calidad-precio a £9.50 . En un punto positivo es un pub tradicional, el personal es amable y con una estufa a leña, chimenea abierta, es muy acogedora, con un buen ambiente.

The ship is an atmospheric pub just outside Guildford. If you're looking for a nightclub environment you're in the wrong place but it's a great place to enjoy a drink with some good food.
