*update* been back March 2024 and Sophie is back. It's back up it's glorious great value roast. Wow! A stunning Sunday roast at unbelievable value can be had here. Booking is advisable as it was very busy. The roast beef, was restaurant quality. Amazing. Perfectly cooked. Up there with the best roast beef I've ever had. The vegetables were also good. Potatoes and parsnips nice and crisp. Lots of gravy and a great big Yorkshire. Everything was piping hot which is a rarity in many places. Plating and service must have been very efficient. If I'm being picky, the cauliflower cheese could have done with being a bit more cheesy and was screaming out for a bit of nutmeg and more seasoning. However, it was only a tiny gripe because it was included within the price of the meal,and not sold as an extra (like most other places). It is a well cooked roast made by a very good chef that loves their food. I can't believe the price, as I've paid much more locally for far less quality. Highly recommended.

Had such a lovely lunch, my wife had just lost her mini golf tournament final and everybody was so lovely and thoughtful. Food was perfectly cooked and we’ll be back there in no time at all. 6 stars if I could!

I've just returned home from a fabulous Christmas lunch with a friend at The Admiral, Ash Vale and felt compelled to write a review. I arrived a bit early and was met with a friendly welcome from Charlotte and Ian. Charlotte showed me to our table which was set up with festive napkins and crackers. My friend arrived and we were asked if we'd like our food straight away or like some time for a drink first. Due to time constraints we decided to go ahead and have dinner straight away. We'd both pre-ordered the two course meal, and both chosen turkey and all the trimmings for mains. This was brought out to us, served piping hot with a generous jug of gravy. The meal was a delight, I can't fault anything on the plate, even the red cabbage was delicious even though it was not something I'd usually go for. The part of the meal that stands out the most was the roast potatoes.....oh my gosh, they were amazing, beautifully crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside.....Jamie Oliver would be jealous of those. We were told that Sarah was the chef responsible for the roasties.......well done Sarah, they were the best spuds I've ever had. For dessert my friend had the Christmas pud served with custard and I had the kir royale sundae. The sundae was delicious, a mixture of ice cream, sorbet fresh raspberries and crushed meringue, topped off with whipped cream. We also took advantage of the free fizz offer which was a wonderful addition to a fantastic meal. All this for £19.99, incredible. I would thoroughly recommend The Admiral. I'm not local to the area but I wish I was, I'd be there every week for Sunday roast. A huge thank you to Ian, Charlotte and Sarah for an amazing Christmas lunch.

Realllllly good food and amazing atmosphere, Sarah and Ian are super cool and run the pub with accepional standards. They are very warm and welcoming. I almost feel like we are family,she treats me like a sister, which always makes the place feel like a second home. The second I step out the door i miss the admiral already. Ian pretty fun and gets me a good glass of water, super fresh and always very friendly. I would defo 100 and 5 % recommend coming here it really has great food and people!!! #IloveTheAdmiral

Just had my first meal here with friends and was amazing love the decor and the staff extremely welcoming the new owners are the loveliest and clearly know what they are doing, all the best to them.

I have been here preciously a few times, although good never great. Went today for a roast and I have to say they must have a new chef as the food was amazing! I had roast beef and it was cooked perfectly, the roasties and yorkshire puds were obviously home made and delicious. Veg came in a side dish and was piping hot, asked for more gravy and it came out straight away, again piping hot., Will defo be going again.

Just had a great roast, best for some time. Proper gravy and real Yorkshire puddings. Kids eat free Monday to Friday so will definitely be back during the week.

The Admiral is a quaint little pub! Was nice and quiet with lots of places to sit. Nice and clean pub. Staff at the bar were very friendly too. Ample car parking spaces however this is a Thursday lunch time. A little expensive in comparison to other pubs in the area £36.88 for two burgers a larger top and a tomato juice, still not bank breaking but I think a lunch menu works good was really nice! We had the ranch Reaper burger and the signature desperados nacho burger. 10/10 got to day! Overall a great experience-I bet it is lovely on a sunny day to sit out in the garden. Strong recommendation 🙏

We visited yesterday for father in laws birthday which I ordered hunters chicken when baught out looked all lovely but cutting into my chicken and it was like jelly and had a few blood vains going through it which put me off as I'm really funny when it comes to meat. Took it to the lady serving and she took it to the kitchen and was told they couldn't refund me due to the chicken being precooked and probed which I think is wrong shouldn't matter weather the chicken is pre cooked its how they served it to me!!

I have been using this pub as my local for many years. Always liked it here, it’s had it’s ups and downs, but once again currently it’s being run very well and has a new lease of life to it.

No online booking and nobody answered the phone (midweek) BUT turned up Thurs lunch and it was great. Good value, basic pub grub. Beer selection limited.

Great food at Great prices. New landlords gave really turned tjis place around

I visited this public house with my wife and other family members on the recommendation of a friend and we had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. The atmosphere was great; the staff were very friendly and efficient; the food excellently prepared and served.

Called Sunday morning to pick up 3 roasts to drop at our 100 year old uncle. It was a bit of an unusual request but delt without any problem. Thank you so much. He couldn't find anything to moan about 🙂

First visit to this great pub! Such friendly welcoming staff especially Sophie the landlady. The whole Sunday lunch menu was excellent. Service was prompt and my choice of roast was perfectly cooked and presented. Really good value too! Will definitely return.

Great little local pub in Ash Vale. Excellent selection of beers, friendly staff and warm inside. Was there for a funeral wake and the food buffet that they put on was good quality, plentiful and well cooked.

I sometimes meet friends at the Admiral as we always feel comfortable there. The landlady is very welcoming and friendly to everyone, as are the staff. If you choose to eat there, the food is well presented and tasty, cheerfully served and excellent value for money. They go the extra mile and they don't mind dogs being brought in. There is a nice lawned outdoor eating area for when the weather is nice. The Admiral is one of the nicest pubs in this locality; they really deserve to continue to do well - I wish it were near enough to be my Local!

Under new management this pub has transformed into a really friendly, cosy pub with really friendly, bubbly staff who are very efficient with great tasting food and a Sunday roast I would put in my top 2. Sophie and the team have really done a great job here which will see us frequent regularly.

Delicious Sunday roast for our party of 4. We all had beef, which was very tender, and cooked perfectly. Delicious roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, gravy and fresh vegetables. Did not have to wait long - service very friendly and efficient. Landlady very welcoming. Will definitely be going back.

Tried to book for Sunday lunch, but they dont have that system available, I sent an email, and 2 hours later I got a reply, saying booked, having read previous reviews saying Sunday roast was wonderful, plenty of meat etc, so was looking forward to our meal, on arrival ordered a drink, went to our table, place was empty, looked at menu, no Sunday roast, asked waitress behind bar about Sunday roast, told they used to do it, and will in the future, but not at present, looking at there menu, anything which has an egg, has been crossed out, apparently the manager has an allergy to eggs, ok, so alter the price of the meal, dont charge for items, not being supplied, we left, and had a wonderful Sunday roast, eat as much as you wanted for £11.99. This pub could be a gold mine if they got there act together,

Sadly burned scampi & cold chips. When hot chips arrived, they had a strange after-taste. However will try the place again as this might have been just one of those days in the kitchen

We stopped here on our way to a Unicorn Birthday party nearby. So glad we did. We had a really lovely lunch. Lovely big airey pub

Nice place, lovely staff.. had gammon, chips and peas, gammon was cooked too much very dry and chewie. Have had many other meals there and been really good

I will not visit again. Booked prior to arrival, allocated a table only to find other people were sat at it eating. Food order arrived incorrect, main meals turned up before starter dishes were cleared. Dogs were allowed in the dining area, with one particular dog (not on a lead) running around under tables. Food was good, but the dining experience was very bad.

Don't serve eggs with there all day breakfast or mixed grill because the land lady is allergic. No price reduction is offered for the missing items and they have just scribbled out eggs on the menue's, little bit low quality tbh. On a more positive note However I gave 3 stars because otherwise it's a great pub nice staff and the chef can actually cook a steak medium rare. Which alone is a pub miracle. Seriously re print your menue without eggs on it and put a note on the menue as to the reason why it's not served.

The landlady is brilliant and that is despite the lack of eggs on the menu! Not serving eggs because you are allergic is more than acceptable. Cracking pub.
