An unbelievable experience, the sole barman working a quiet evening could easily have spent his time staring at his phone or watch waiting for the time to pass (as many often do on a slow night). However, this was not the case, we were treated as if we had hired the entire venue for a luxury event. His wine knowledge was second to none, his craic was equally exceptional and he entertained our mediocre wine knowledge with expert finesse. Having now read the negative comments on this fine establishment, I can only assume it is the fault of the classic Surrey customer, rather than the venue, should anyone fail to have anything but an exquisite evening in this place. We love you and will be back (sorry not sorry to Surrey natives)

What a great place to unwind, relax and explore! The wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to help you find exactly what you are looking for. Three of us visited with very different preferences and were served something new and exciting by our host. A buttery white wine that isn't a Chardonnay? No problem! A jammy, smoky red? Here you go! Wines from all over the world that you can enjoy and all in a very friendly, welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere.

Excellent wine shop with a very extensive range. Very knowledgeable staff can help you choose with the added bonus of the option to drink your wine in store for a £10 corkage charge, hence the name. Light snacks of cheese, charcuterie and bread available. The tasting evening that we attended was superb.

Lovely bar with nice concept. The service however was horrendous. The waitresses didn’t have a clue what they were doing and lacked basic experience.

Visited here yesterday for drinks with a friend. We were allocated a table at the window looking out onto the road and church. Was a very pleasant atmosphere and the staff were very accommodating as always. It’s a place we like to visit when we’re in Guildford and we will be back again soon.

Spent a lovely hour or so here today with a friend after a day of shopping. Welcoming staff and a wide variety of wines to choose from. Although a few tables were reserved we were never rushed and left to chill with a few glasses of champagne in a very sociable atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

Such a great litte find! My sister and I stopped here for a glass of wine before dinner elsewhere and we could have stayed all night! Such a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the guy serving us was very helpful. Lots of choice and varied price ranges. Highly recommend stopping in if you are in the area!

Enjoyed a bottle of wine pre dinner for my birthday with olives. Great service and no issues with distancing etc.

Wine selection is excellent and staff were friendly and welcoming. But it’s overpriced - £40 a head for wine and some nibbles is about what I’d pay for a restaurant meal with wine elsewhere.

As a shop, there’s lot to pick from but as a bar, they only have 5 medium quality wines available by the glass in red & white. Shame you can’t pop in for a really nice single glass 😔

I love popping in here for some great wine and cheese - it’s as nice during the day to pop in for a glass of fizz and plate of cheese after shopping as it is in the evening, good selection of wine and nice to have somewhere for “grown ups” to go and have a drink and catchup

Very nice people, great wines reasonably priced + tapas not so reasonably priced but who cares! You are not there to eat, it's a wine bar, and anyway the tapas was really good! Recommend you and your partner drop in for a bit of "us time"

Lovely wine bar and shop run by a friendly, knowledgeable and passionate team. Always a warm welcome all helped by the top selection of wine and nibbles! Gets busy on Fridays and Saturdays so do get there early, but it is one of the best spots in Guildford so not surprising! Recommended!

Really good choice of wine, with clear pricing on all bottles. can drink them here and they do good sharing charcouterie boards and cheese boards.

This is a real gem. A lovely wine shop / bar with a wide selection of great wines from around the world (at all budgets) with a modest corkage charge if you drink in.What sets this place apart is the amazing knowledge of everyone working there. It is really good to be able to describe the types of wine you like and have great recommendations for things you might never have tried. The service is excellent and everyone is friendly and willing to answer any questions as well as help with selections.We went back for the Christmas wine fair which was an amazing event, with 18 wines to sample as well as vintage port. We will definitely become regulars here and I’m sure we will sign up for more events. You don’t have to be a wine expert, but they do also have fine wines for those that really know their stuff!Recommended.

One to AVOID Had one of the most surreal experiences Friday night. The 'service' we received from the girl working was appalling. At first we were surprised and thought we'd misread the situation but her disgust for us was so consistent that it just became laughable and then embarrassing. I guess I should have paid more attention to the reviews on this site as there is a consistent theme of rude service. We were spending money, and would have spent far more if when asking for recommendations we weren't pushed towards the house wines, had our food literally thrown in front of us and then ultimately felt we had no option but to leave. We could only assume that we were not the desired demographic as she seemed to be fine with other customers. If that is the case then maybe you should make that clear when taking bookings. I thought I'd let the owner know and their response was 'fine, don't come back'. There are plenty of other places in Guildford that value ALL customers - avoid this one. RESPONSE There is no impasse, I’m simply reviewing my visit and making a recommendation. I think your regret is that I have made my comments public as when I expressed these to you privately you told me that I am not welcome back. You seem to be implying that rude service should be forgiven if it happens during busy periods, just quite how you could not predict being busy on the first pay day of the festive season is surprising. I am suggesting that plenty of effective managers are able to deal with busy periods and issues that invariably crop up. They do this with grace and good humour and don’t take out their frustrations on their paying customers. Smiles are free but seemed to be in shorter supply than the water that night. I am also not so naive as to believe only expensive wines are good, but, when visiting a bar such as yours and asking for a recommendation I don’t expect the closest bottle to be slammed down in front of me without a single word justifying this ‘recommendation’, especially when there is an extensive array of wines just a few steps from the service area. It’s worth noting this happened for each of the recommendations I requested, one Malbec and one Rioja. If, as you are very keen to suggest, this is all just a ‘misunderstanding’, it seems to be a significant one.

Staff were so rude. From the minute we walked in we were spoken to rudely and given no help when asked to recommend some red wines. What's the point of a wine bar if you get your food slammed on the table and don't even get your first sample of wine served. £35 a bottle you get a better smile at Tesco local and for £6. Never going again and I would recommend you save your money for another bar. Plenty of other good locations in Guildford.

Awesome wine bar and shop with lovely staff.

Excellent choice of interesting and good quality wines. Really friendly service in a cosy environment. My first visit but definitely want to return to sample more wines.

There aren't many wine bars in Guildford, so if you like wine, this is the place to come. They have a small but good selection of quality wines by the glass and an impressive selection by the bottle that you can purchase and drink there. The sommelier will give good advice too.

What a great place to meet friends and try a few different wines. We didn't eat but they do have cheese and meat platters available. We had great fun selecting the wines we wanted to try from the shelves and then trying them for very little corkage. Definitely a great place for wine lovers.

If you'd like a really good interesting glass, or bottle, wine from the amazing selection of wines at this wine bar (and shop). All the wines on show are available to buy and take away but more importantly to drink with a small corkage charge in the cosy modern wine bar at very reasonable prices. A group of us went through 3 different lovely Iberian white wines that you would only find in a specialized wine merchant but had them here chilled to perfection at about the price you would pay for dreary entry to mid level wines in other bars/pubs/restaurants.

Excellent wine and the perfect setting to enjoy. Great service and knowledgeable staff with good wine recommendation. We will be back.

Waiter recommended two 'dry' wines that were in fact sweet. You expect knowledgeable staff at a venue that promotes wine courses and niche wines.

AMAZING WINE BAR... Claire and Sophia are DOLLS... so welcoming and personable.. we could sit there for hours. The bar is fantastic, so many varieties..even the way you choose wine..by the glass, by a bottle from their universal wall, or buy a pass, load with credit and self serve at a station in the back,..which I have never seen before. Their passion and care is evident here. A MUST GO for any wine lover. Super atmosphere to hang out on a date or with a huge group of friends. Cant wait to come back!!!

I originally popped in here for a Christmas present and decided to come back for some drinks! The wine and knowledge of the wine is good, the only thing I didn't like was that the seating was high tables and bar stools, which I didn't find very comfortable. Relaxed atmosphere but with a smartness to it.

Good concept fora town lacking in interesting venues but the front-of-house is rather lacking. Needs more professionalism and attention to customers. Rather put off after a few visits.

A great, simple idea. Buy wine to take away at shelf prices; or save yourself the washing up and drink the bottle in the shop for an extra £5.

Small and friendly bar wine a great wine selection.

Lovely place for a quiet drink, with some good wines in stock. Friendly and welcoming staff and no smoking in their outdoor space, which for me is a plus, especially if you want to taste the wines.

We visited here last Saturday. We selected a couple of bottles of white wine during our time here and also enjoyed some antipasti which was delicious.

Wine Ok but manager was a bit annoying with a loud fake laugh. Seats uncomfortable for more than 15/20 mins.

A very cozy wine bar, ideal for small groups who are looking for an excellent selection not winrs. Very pleasant staff, reasonable prices. Perfect for a pre-dinner meet-up. Probably best to reserve but if you go early you be lucky to find a free table. Very nice experience.

Enjoyed a couple of really great bottles of red wine last night at corkage - loved the fact that you choose the wine and they add a 'corkage' charge to drink in house. My husband didn't realise that he'd left his wallet there and the very kind owner dropped it off for him this evening. That's going the extra mile!

Great cheese board. You are best off buying the wine by the bottle and paying corkage.

Disappointed charged for 6 glasses of sparkling wine when I could have bought a bottle, this was not explained on arrival

This is a lovely small friendly wine bar,staff are very nice,and helpful , there’s a small courtyard with patio heaters or sunshade in summer , no loud music so ideal for a glass of wine a chat and some nibbles.perfect for couples 😊

My husband and I recently attended one of the wine tasting evenings. It was a lovely evening. Great wines, informative and friendly staff, and lots of interesting people to talk to. We learnt a lot too. As we live in Guildford, we'll definitely be returning and recommending to friends.

We went here last night, my son & daughter having booked a month ago as a birthday surprise for me! The reason for that being that this was the closest friday to my birthday in october that they could accommodate 11 of us. That's fine but having asked for a table so that we could have an evening of wine & cheese we were a bit put out when we were told by a very abrupt woman that our 'area' was standing in front of the bar! We found 4 chairs and bought a few bottles of wine before trying to close the door leading onto the outside terrace as the temperature was only a couple of degrees above freezing. We were reprimanded for this as apparently the grumpy staff needed to have it wide open to enable them to take drinks to the 4 or so people sitting under the heater outside...don't worry about us then!!

Like a rebooted movie franchise from the 1980's the eponymous "wine bar" has resurfaced full of 21st century style...

We've been twice now and it's a nice wine bar. They have a good selection on offer with bottle prices ranging from £10 to >£60. If you drink in there is an additional £5 corkage fee.

Visited for the first time on a Sunday afternoon, enjoyed a lovely glass of silent pool rose whilst sitting outside in the sunshine. Did not try any food, but menu looked good. This could become a regular escape from shopping 🍷😀

Finally, a very good wine bar in Guildford. Sophisticated and rustic at the same time where it is possible to have a conversation without the need for shouting and having to endure listening to cheap music.

This very well run establishment is the best thing to happen in Guildford. It's a Mecca for the wine enthusiasts and for people who who love to meet other folks who are also on a wine journey. The sommelier Claire is very knowledgeable and will happily assist you on your preference. Andy the manager who is a keen charity cyclists will welcome you with open arms. Try the meat and cheese boards they are a perfect match with the fine wines.

We decided to go in this place as a recommendation to enjoy a glass of wine and spent some time together and this place was perfect for the occasion. There was a extensive choice of wine from all the world and it offered a good sellection of cheeses and meats they were good. Although the tables were all booked the staff let us sit if we leave in time. Really enjoyable experience. Recommended!!!

A cool wine-tasting "shop" where you can buy wine to take out,or drink in, with a mark-up. I large range of wines in terms of locations and prices. Free nibbles, plus snacks are available to soak up your tipple. Great location in the back streets.

All the way from the Midlands on the recommendation of a friend, absolutely bowled over by the choice, the decor and the fabulous staff. The owner is incredibly welcoming and the fantastic machine is an inspired way to be able to taste a wine by the glass that you wouldn't generally be able to. Looking forward to a return visit.

Staff not friendly whatsoever and would not serve us another drink with 15 mins to go before closing. Did not state they closed at 10 pm or ask if we wanted another drink before closing. With the lack of customer service we went elsewhere!

Tucked away down a side street this fabulous little wine shop is a great find and the perfect place to relax, they offer a good selection of small plates which include some very nice cheeses along with choice of quality wine and help is at hand with informative advise if you need it for choosing, good wine with good cheese made for a very enjoyable visit for us.

The wine, of which we had only one bottle (valpolicella) was really nice. I just would have liked to understand the selection a bit more, the staff offered no recommendations and I think talking though what's on offer would really help, as much, as is possible with a full bar and a relatively large selectio to talk through.

I've stopped in here twice in the last week for early evening drinks and cheese and it's really lovely, the staff are very friendly and happy to chat about the wines (and cheese) and there's a great selection - such a great idea to be able to choose any of the wines in the shop and pay £5 corkage though there's also a great selection by the glass too!

I booked a private wine tasting experience to celebrate, together with 25 friends, a significant birthday. The selection of wines was very good. The staff made us feel very welcome and guided us through the evening with their experiences. They quickly gauged that the aim of the evening was to celebrate. We all had a great time and will definitely be back.

Fabulous selection of wine and really delicious tasting board of charcuterie. I recommend the tasting samples from the wine machine.

Popped in for a quick drink whilst shopping on a Sunday. We were the only customers so it was a bit soulless. However the wine was very good, albeit quite expensive but that was made up for in the quality. Not sure what it would be like when busy but generally thought it looked good
