Me and partner had Rye Special breakfast and it was well presented and delicious, good portions too. The drinks were also very nice and each came with a Biscoff. One suggestion for improvement: We thought there was too many carbs in the breakfast, it had chips, hash browns and bread... Maybe allow an option on the menu for customers to swap chips/hash browns for something else? An extra sausage? Just an idea for those who dont want too much potato.

Homely. Fresh cooked food. Just love the feel of this family run eatery. The brunch was so good we went back for afternoon tea.

Excellent food, swift service considering there were six of us, good coffee. We were amazed by the quality of the food and generous portions for the money. Nicely presented. Although we didn't have any cake, there seemed to be a good and delicious looking selection. Straightforward tables and decoration Would strongly recommend.

Great food portions, very tasty. Very busy. We sat out side; it’s a lovely location and a little shady which is good in oppressive heat. I’d recommend their omelettes! Very impressed.

Great food and good service but could do with a heater in the room although the welcome was warm.

Middling fare but great for the price. Broad range of choices. Toilets could be nicer, didn’t have boiled eggs for kids. Nothing memorable but does the job.

A good pub with typical British food. Nothing out of this world but it complies. I don't recommend the sandwich but I do recommend the jacket potato. It has tables outside for good days.

This is a great little place to eat -it has a really relaxed, quirky feel. The man who served us was genuinely warm and helpful. Only knocked a star off as the menu wasn't very well presented, allergens, veggie/vegan options very limited and not marked on the menu so we had to ask what was what which felt a bit awkward. Portions were a good size and the location is brilliant. It just needs a little finessing!

The service was very courteous but this does not make up for the poor standard of food. Highly priced for what you receive, the chef forgot to put crisps with our paninis and when we stated this he went to the shop to get us some aha! I asked for my eggs over easy and got some hard dry fried eggs, would never return

Lovely atmosphere food meh found four hairs in our breakfast aswell as the bacon was undercooked. And staff oh don’t get me started didn’t speak English told me I could have a takeaway then another member said I couldn’t. Then they gave our food to different customers. All round needs a bit of improvement

We visited here twice during our holiday. The Halloumi wrap was tasty and good value. The veggie breakfast was huge and lasted us all day. One of the better places for coffee.

Came here for lunch on a bike ride. It was ok but should have been better. I had a ploughman's. Service, atmosphere and presentation were fine, but it was let down by the quality of the ingredients. If I order a ploughman's I hope in particular for plenty of tasty cheese. In this case I only got a piece of very mild, rubbery cheddar, and a piece of basic ham (although the other stuff was fine). Put that right and I'd be a happy bunny.

Stopped for a quick milkshake/smoothie break on a sunny weekend and felt quite refreshing. Strawberry milkshake was so yummy Also took a side of chips for the way!! I noticed many vegetarian options as well. Staff welcoming and friendly! Lots of handmade trinkets to buy, but wasn't sure of the price...plz consider having price tags!

We have been here once before and were really impressed with the quality of the food so we went back when wanting a nice sandwich for lunch. Sadly this time around the experience was not as good yet this place is still worth a visit. The bad: - staff were smoking outside (which is good) but did it right at the entrance so no getting away from it when needing to go in or out - staff were having lunch when we were there and decided to sit at one table speaking their own language whilst an English colleague was left to eat and was only spoken to right at the end which I find rather rude - the establishment is also a shop for some curiosities yet not everything has a price which makes it feel like they can charge what they want - my other half ordered a burger which was cheap and greasy The good: - lovely location right in the middle of beautiful Rye - staff are always polite and friendly to customers - sandwiches are amazing : good quality bread and generously filled - the coffees are really nice

We ended up coming hear in search of veggie English breakfast. Staff was welcoming and food was great especially granary bread. We ordered two veg English breakfast, panini with chutney and caramelised onion and some hot drinks to go for 4 and we were so full. They served generous portion which was good quality.

Nice friendly welcome, but the food was average, spoilt for me by an interesting variation on scrambled eggs, which looked like fried and then cut up. A bit disappointing.

Popped in for breakfast a couple of weeks ago, and was very average. Staff not overly friendly, I had a large breakfast which was just OK, chips with a cooked breakfast quite random! My wife had salmon with avocado, which she said was just OK. Disappointing after some recent glowing reviews, which contributed to us popping in. but poor value for money for the quality of food you get

Popped into The Old Grain Store today on a ride out. Ordered and Lamb wrap with chips and garnish, and a pot of tea. It was delicious. The lamb was cooked beautifully. The garnish was a good size with the best pomegranate dressing I've had in quite a long time. When I'm next in Rye I will definitely be spending my money there ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Food was delicious, especially the cherry and marzipan cake, so moist, and I’m so sorry, no photo. I wolfed it down before I thought about taking a shot. You’ll just have to take my word for it. And the strong tea washed it down perfectly.

Well what else can I say about this place apart from the fact it's brilliant, it's really quirky, staff are friendly, the food is lovely and hot and good value and you get huge portions also they had a huge range of home made cakes which were divine and the most heavenly ice cream, that's the only negative is knowing what to choose for pudding and the best thing for me they allow dogs in there as long as they're well behaved they can sit under the table or next to you, mine was elderly and in a little pram and they also sell little pots of doggy ice cream. We stumbled upon this place purely by accident and I'm so glad we did, my dad and myself were staying in camber sands and we ended up coming here every day for lunch as it was only a 15 min journey plus there is a car park right next door. Well worth a visit whether you're just passing by or staying at a near by holiday camp 😊

We had a lovely breakfast here - portions are generous and the pricing is reasonable. This is a standard setting however what they do, they do very well.

Very clean and tidy, only had 2 teas and a bowl of chips but reasonable prices and quick service.

Had a flat white here today, which was basically a latte and my partner had an orange juice which tasted like orange squash, not impressed.

Gorgeous food, even better coffee & perfect service. I live in London but visit Rye a few times a month, and we keep on coming back - sometimes twice in one weekend. Highly recommend!

Popped in for morning coffee and the advertised gluten free cake. Sadly they had no gluten free cakes . A simple sugn saying they had ran out would have been useful

My husband and I returned to visit rye and the old grain store after two years. We were not disappointed. Yesturday we had scampi and chips for lunch. The portions were generous and the food was tasty. Today we returned for a cappuccino and a piece of cake, again the service was excellent and the food and drink just as we like it. Will return again in the not to distant future.

Been for breakfast twice in as many weeks. Great selection at a great price and large portions. The first time I had The Rye breakfast. Second time The full English, the Rye comes with Hash browns and chips, the Full English comes with bubble and sqeak. Choice of white ,brown or granary bread. Both excellent. My partner had the smoked salmon ,avocado and poached egg on brown bread . Washed down with a nice pot of tea. They also do lunch which I've yet to try. The premises is also licenced to sell alcohol. Well worth a visit.

Called in here while put cycling, nice food and drinks, and the service was very good, nice friendly staff. Worth a visit.

Another place that have no clue about making coffee

I have had a breakfast there on one of those sunny but chilly mornings, and the generous portions would satisfy a very hungry bear. I am not a bear, so I get stuffed till dinner (no need for lunch that day). The coffee is really good too. Staff is friendly and welcoming.

Surprisingly large menu for this smallish cafe. Food was excellent for two hungry cyclists and service was good. Indoor and outdoor spaces. Clean toilet facilities.

Had a nice cream tea for £10.50 for 2 including a large pot if tea. It would probably have been difficult to get a mobile scooter inside if it had been raining but fortunately a few tables outside with umbrelkas. Mot too busy and quick friendly sevice
