Kino Cafe in Rother

Sat outside Kino in a lovely setting at 2.30pm for late lunch. Good choice of what we were looking for, placed our order and was promptly delivered by a charming young man. I have got to say the toasted ham and cheese sandwich along with the great salad was one of the best I think I have ever had….delicious. Great bowl of clean water for my dog to enjoy too…. Thank you.

Rye Kino has the best cakes, all homemade locally I understand, and lots of varieties of tea and coffee. We popped in after being caught in the rain and are now big fans. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. The food was great..Next time we will have lunch. A real amenity for Rye.

Usually very nice and friendly with delicious cake and a joy to visit but just lately we have found a huge change in staff attitude. We just feel like a nuisance, no welcome or even a smile and one member of staff just down right rude! Such a shame.

We found this when walking to the church. Was a little chilly outside and we stopped here for a lovely coffee and a tee. Was a nice calm atmosphere.

Whilst the service seemed a little "disinterested" the snacks were fine and the setting (outside) was very pleasant

Hi recently went to the Kino Cinema Rye where there is a lovely little Cafe and Bar coffee was excellent and snacks for the cinema with good too .lovely toilets and a beautiful little place and the cinema is excellent too

It was busy in Rye after Christmas and difficult to find an available and comfortable spot for lunch. I had seen the signs for the cafeteria in the cinema. We went there and had a nice light lunch and were comfortable.

Nicely prepared, healthy food, hot and cold drinks. Dog friendly in warm, weather. Excellent place for a snack lunch before a film.

I love the Kino regardless of the cafe but I love the different food and drink offerings you get there compared to the juggernaut cinema chains offer. Lovely coffee, cakes and nice dinners.

Called in for a coffee and a very good coffee it was served by very friendly, efficient people. Only problem is it's not dog friendly, so if you have your four-footed friend with you, you have to sit outside. This is a nice sitting area, OK when the sun is out but don't know how good it would be with a cold wind blowing

Stumbled on this cafe but it was well worth the stumble! The coffee was the best we had had all week and the scones were delicious and served by delightful people.

The Kino has come about by the Herculean efforts of a group of local people who had the vision to turn an old historic building into this unique place. We love seeing films in the beautiful cinema, but also the cafe and the courtyard are great places to spend time and relax.

Gorgeous soup, really nice food and very good service. With the extra visit of little sparrows getting really close and friendly.

It's lovely to visit a cinema and have some more sophisticated options to the normal cinema fare, i.e. lovely coffees and cakes etc.

Found this cafe and cinema as we were walking by St Mary's church. Tiny little cinema would have been good to try but didn't have time so stopped for a light lunch. Food was delicious and very well presented but be armed they are small portions.

I only fancied a very small, simple lunch and asked for a child's cheese sandwich with no garnish and, boy did I enjoy it. Accompanied by some crisps and an apple juice it was all I needed before going in to enjoy "Rocketman". My husband equally enjoyed his smoked salmon on a gluten free bagel

But the cafe and terrace are lovely. Have been there 3 times. One day will go and see a film too but we don;t live in Rye, so we come for the other attractions.

Everything about this cinema is perfect. The chairs as super comfy, you can take a glass of vino in with you and they offer a fantastic range of films not just the box office hits. We are so lucky to have a cinema in Rye and I go every time I get the chance.

Really love this place.....Staff are great. Cinema smallish but just right for me as the volume of the films shown just right...defo be back soon!

Didn't realise this was attached to the Cinema, which was showing a good selection of Films. Morning Coffee and Cake sitting in the sun what could be better!

From the moment we stepped into KIno, we felt welcome when visiting Rye on holiday.

Had a few good hot chocolate drinks here . Good place to meet friends and watch a film. The toilets are very clean.

Excellent service, good choice of cakes and goodies, great coffee, wonderful terrace. Highly recommended

We came upon this lovely place by chance. We wanted a light lunch and we were not disappointed. I had smashed avocado and feta with chilli and lemon dressing on brucetta with pea shoots...divine! My husband had a quiche type tart which was also tasty. Definately worth a visit...and you can see a film too! Great place!

Stumbled upon this one evening whilst looking for a cafe for a coffee (didn’t fancy a pub) they had a lovely courtyard we could sit with our dogs and chill out during our evening walk. The cakes were good too and prices reasonable. The indoor bar area looked like a nic3 area and the cinema seemed popular. Friendly staff too

Such a cool place to hang out, especially on a warm day when we could sit outside. LOVED the cinema, small and comfy, modern and cool.

Every town should have one of these! Great cafe that also sold lunch and dinner dishes for before or after the cinema. Spotlessly clean. Good service. Loved it and the film we saw was good too.

The Kino Cinema is a great asset to Rye and the cafe looked very promising. We had considered having dinner there after reading their menu but the food finishes at 7.30pm. I am glad we didn't! My 'lunch' was so small and mean in content it was ridiculous. I had had the same dish in another cafe and it was so great there that I wanted to eat it again. I sent it back but it came back with a few more 'sprinkles' of cheese on it. The waiters word, not mine. A good place for a drink and a film but there are so many fantastic places to eat in Rye I would eat elsewhere.

I recommend most highly. We arrived 2 hours before the film we'd booked on a freezing cold night and had a splendid curried parsnip soup. Very pleasant people served us in a lovely cafe area. The whole place has a good, slightly Bohemian atmosphere and the small cinema was a joy. A splendid night!

I love the Kino, had some lovely food and wine before heading into a very comfortable seat wine in hand and watched a film. Great experience

Sometimes life surprises a hand can brush against a hidden gem Kino Café is that diamond, had a snack in the cafe before watching a film the food is varied and drinks are available including alcohol comfortable seats in a mezzanine layout good for food and a movie

We visited for a cup of tea & a cake prior to going to see a film. The weather was cold & snowy & we found the cafe to be very snug.

came to see "The man who invented Christmas" and had booked armchair seats with a footstall, was absolutely lovely. Everything was spotlessly clean and the staff were a delight, very polite and friendly. Ordered alcohol to take into the cinema which did not break the bank. Although we did not eat here, what we saw people eating looked lovely. Highly recommend and would revisit.

The 'Kino' German for cinema is unusual. Very nice cafe immediately when you walk in, so you can drink and eat before seeing a new movie. The two cinemas are smallish so you always have a good seat. Sound and picture quality is excellent. I enjoyed watching the Murder on the Orient Express. I went to an afternoon showing which was perfect to then meander of to somewhere for dinner.

We had lunch here before watching a film and it is a great little place to have a pre film bite to eat. A good choice and well presented

Popped in for lunch and very nice it was too. Efficient service and good value food. A nice spot to sit out on a sunny day.

Good staff, Very friendly, had the tea and sat outside in the front yard , it was quite no cars. Very good place to relax while sight seeing.

We only called in to get out of the rain as we were heading somewhere else for lunch. Once we were there we decided the food looked good and so we had lunch there. Very good. We will go there again.

HAd a totally delicious smashed avocado salad today , thoroughly recommend it , fresh , perfectly ripe and seasoned avocado with peashoot salad , yummmm !

Have used the Cinema on numerous occsions. Met with a friend for tea and cake, in the afternoon. The weather was fantastic, so sat outside.

Lovely cinema, lovely cafe/bar. Food a tad pricey, but wonderful. Tasty veggie biryani, small but perfectly formed. Soup & a panini. A nice treat to be able to take drinks into the cinema. As they get busy the food coming out of the kitchen can slow up. Sit back, be patient and enjoy the surroundings.

One of the best before a film cafes around , not to mention the best place to watch a film around. Good coffee and drinks and very good snacks.

Lovely, cosy little 'kino'. Sweet from the outside and you wouldn't think it was a cinema. Can take in beer or wine which is a plus- staff are lovely and friendly Wish every cinema was like tis one

I had a lovely lunch with friends here. Menu is very varied and the food was really fresh. Will be back.

Coffee has never let us down, but food can be variable eg too much mustard in the salad dressing. Still, a cafe we return to.

absolutely the best panini in rye, and possibly east sussex !, with side salad of fresh salad leaves and very light dressing,perfect for a pre or apres cine experience with a glass of chilled rose' ... thoroughly reccomend !!!

We just dropped in for a coffee.... couldn't resist the cake either. People enjoying the late October sun sitting chatting over coffee outside. The design of the interior was modern but relaxed and very comfortable. The coffee was probably the best we've had in a very long time. I drifted off over a copy of the Guardian in a reclined armchair and woke feeling very mellow sometime later. A real jewel. Staff were helpful and good at their job.... interesting to hear about the cinema.... a treat for a rainy day.

We love Kino! A digital cinema in the most gorgeous surroundings of a thoughtfully restored school. Huge comfortable seats and they allow you to take wine and nibbles or tea and cake into the film.

Very friendly staff, good furniture, good coffee and very clean. It's part of the Cinema complex and yesterday, August Bank Holiday, played it's part in hosting a live band for the 4 day Rye Jazz Festival.

Didn't see a film at this independent cinema but loved the yummy cakes, fantastic scones with homemade jam & clotted cream...this place was open when other tea shops were closed..and had comfy sofas.....try it!.....Don't miss the Hollywood mirror in the Gents....Camp!...

Well hidden. Dear little courtyard to sit in sun or shade, without traffic. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely and imaginative lunch menu. And the cinema has a constantly changing programme too.

We regularly visit the café and sit in the courtyard for a cuppa. Great coffee and always service with a smile. Had lovely lunch the other day with a friend - paninis very tasty

We popped in here late afternoon and there appeared to be a limited selection of cakes however we made our choice. We asked for a pot of Earl Grey for two. Unfortunately they do not serve pots and use Teapigs tea bags so it is only one cup per person.

This was my 2nd visit to Kino and the food, coffee and service were all superior to most cafes in Rye. The courtyard is a fantastic spot to bask in the sun and enjoy a glass of wine.

Great place to enjoy a light lunch before going to the cinema (you can even enjoy your wine while watching the film!) Changing menu based round quiches, salads, paninis etc. plus home-made cakes, scones and biscuits. Pleasant efficient staff

This is a great place to eat and chill out. The decor is bright, modern, interesting and relaxing. The food is delicious, the coffees are good. The staff seem to enjoy working there.

I popped into Kino' initially being half term it was heaving with children so I went out for lunch and returned an hour later when the film was showing and there were only 3 patrons over two floors.
