Had a deal on over the 6 nation's One being a sausage roll for £5 No sausage roll at mid day. So in the end, a packet of crisps and a coffee.

Every part of my meal was good.

Looked at all of the most recent reviews looked quite promising, it didn't live up to its reviews! 8 eating, 3 meals returned, the other 5 were ok but only warm, seemed like everything was ready 30 minutes before it arrived at the table, they were busy but no excuses, get more/better staff, won't be returning

We only had drinks but it was a nice atmosphere and interesting lay out with lots of small rooms.

Just popped in for a drink. Ale in excellent condition.

Nice place, but was a bit chilly yesterday and I had to keep my coat on. Also, would be really helpful to know how many calories each item on the menu contains. Quick service. Nice staff.

This is a beautiful building, but the food is mediocre. It is nothing more than shipped in microwave meals, same as Wetherspoons. It is good for a drink, but nothing more, especially with the choice nearby. Staff are very friendy..

Four of us came for drinks on a sunny Saturday and were lucky enough to get a table outside. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Table service was fast and staff friendly.

A nice traditional place amongst the fake restaurants that outlet shopping places are full of. But expensive but decent beer and food and a nice relaxing atmosphere without all the young idiots.

Fab. Wanted to go to The Banana Tree, but were told they had no tables, even though the place was empty! Turns out that we were the lucky ones, walked across the square to The Old Customs House, got treated like royalty, and had a fantastic steak and ale pie with triple cooked chips. Top drawer! Good Guiness too.

Food was tasty, but we did wait a while! Staff were friendly and plenty of tables and dog friendly.

Visited as a group of 7. We sat upstairs. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was tasty and had a nice selection on the menu, the burgers were a highlight from family members. Would visit again.

If you can reach the bar, recommendation is that you buy both your current, and your next round. Small bar can get quite overcrowded. Staff are really nice, food is pretty banging, however we had an area booked for a function and there was no duty of care to block it off, members of public spilled into our paid section which dampened the mood, However the building was massively overcrowded. Atmosphere was pretty festive.

Embarrassed that I took family of 9 there on Boxing Day food was so bad.Starters were ok but the rest was abysmal.turkey dry braised beef was shredded dry beef in a circle with minimum amount of gravy .Salmon dry and tasteless . Two dinners uneaten .Desserts the smallest Xmas pud you’ve ever ever did see in runny watery custard— vanilla parfait the size of half a sausage —so called amaretto bread and butter pudding was not as described and had no amaretto flavour at all .we went last year on Boxing Day and had a decent meal .this year restaraunt almost empty .staff at a minimum .decorations poor and ambience non existent.!! After a challenging year for all of us what a disappointment !!!!!!!!!!

I had the chicken kebab and salad. Nice enough food but very small portions and seemed expensive at £18. I was still hungry after eating! Nothing wrong with the food as such, but due to the portion size and cost, I won't be eating there again.

(Sunday lunch @ over £28 ) the table was booked for 4 o'clock. we sat and waited and 2 people hadn't pre ordered so they ordered and their food arrived and we asked 10 mins later about our food and we're told they had forgotten and it wouldn't be long. 30 mins later at 5 o'clock our food arrived!!!! virtually cold!!!! fatty meat and hard roast potatoes, not happy!!! we complained and received a 25% reduction. the place was cold uninviting and grubby. definitely definitely not good.

Manic 5 days before Christmas however good beers and a lovely location... Perfect for a post shopping pit stop.

The food was very nice. But it took a very long time to come out. There were many tables that ordered after us receiving the food before us. So we felt abit forgotten about. And there was minimal support or help from any of the staff. So we found ourselves chasing people around abit to track down our food

I came here with some friends from uni for drinks and a chat. Each of us had something different and we enjoyed it overall. The place is self service and we had to find a table to fit us all by ourselves, which was kind of difficult seeing how busy the place is during the holiday season. The drinks came in quickly, and the food followed shortly after. Overall good place for a drink.

I visited for a Work Christmas Lunch. The service was like attending school dinners. If they could have done less, they would have done. The food was over salted and overpriced. I've had better school dinners. The room was cold, and despite there being no other patrons, the seating was cramped and awkward. I'd ordered online and accidentally given a generous tip. If I wasn't with colleagues I would have asked for it back

THEE INTERIOR IS LIKE STEPPING BACK INTO THE PAST.. TRULY ORIGINAL YOU CAN ALMOST GET A SENSE OF WHAT LIFE WAS LIKE IN THE YEARS OF OLD.. FANTASTIC VENUE GREAT PLACE FOOD IS WELL ORGANISED AND DELICIOUS STAFF ARE DELIGHTFUL

Saturday lunchtime, service was very slow - took half an hour from ordering our starter to getting it, then a further 20 minutes for main. Menu options were limited and steak was overcooked (asked for it medium rare but it was more medium/medium-well) texture was more crumbly than it should have been, and the chicken and vegetables were very dry, with no sauce. Tasted like it was just heated up in a microwave - does it really take nearly an hour to do that? Prices were very expensive for the quality of food. I'd rather have gone to a Wetherspoons. We were placed on a table in the middle of the path to get to other tables so everyone walking by us had to squeeze behind our chairs and we were constantly having to sit uncomfortably tucked in. We were also there for a birthday and whilst they put a balloon up that was it. Not a single acknowledgement or happy birthday etc from the waiters, which I feel like should be the bare minimum. The only positive was the location and the look of the place inside.

Visited for the first time on 09/11/23. Arrived around 12.15pm. Ordered soup from menu asked for Leek and Potato, which was on the menu. When it arrived it was tomato. We asked if there was Leek and Potato available and were told no, and that they had just decided to replace it without informing us. To be fair the soup was OK. We then order an Apple and Blackberry crumble with custard. Bowl was nuclear hot when it arrived, but we were not warned. Unfortunately one of us burnt their fingers. Custard was almost non existent and like vaguely Vanilla flavoured water. Not enough to cover top of pudding. Staff were friendly but very very slow. All in all, would go elsewhere next time we visit Gunwharf.

Wednesday evening not that busy waited long time for fish and chips, not a problem but when it arrived chips Luke warm, fish not much better. Sticky toffee pudding arrived really quickly, same not as hot as should be. Disappointed.

Visited at lunchtime on a week day and there were plenty of tables. Very nice staff and good food. Also visited on a Saturday evening and it was about 4 deep at the bar. Absolutely rammed. Outdoor seating available with nice views. A great pub.

Do not bother going here unless you want to be ripped off! Worst Sunday lunch in the area - making the word 'Traditional' in their marketing ploy an absolute joke. Possibly the worst run Fuller's in the area!

After a couple of drinks outside on Friday last week I dropped my driving license. Didn’t realise until Saturday morning. Called a most helpful member of staff who after carrying out due diligence checks confirmed the card was safe. Not only safe but she posted the driving licence to me to save me the trouble of driving into Portsmouth to collect. How fantastic to know The Old Customs House employs such amazing staff. We were a large group of people dining for a work function. Kudos to the servers, they did their best! Starters were okay, loved the mains and desert.

I was here on Saturday for lunch and I had the Tandoori lamb kebabs. They were very fresh and cooked very well. I washed it down with a pint of shandy which was made perfectly for me. It's dog friendly for me. That's a good thing. I'll definitely be back for the tender lamb again.

Lunch time snack stop, a firm favourite as London Pride ale always top notch, and food consistently good. Wraps and BLT very tasty and good quality. Service very attentive and not over bearing. Best pub in GWQ !

Dropped in with 5 friends, for a few beers and decided on having burgers. All were cooked well and hit the spot. Lovely historical surroundings.

Very well located, great front and rear drinking areas and generally speaking a nice pub, BUT... where it all falls apart is the shocking queues for any drinks. 1 tiny central bar, no system, not enough staff, too slow to pull anything with 2 taps, the slowest Guinness you'll ever order, and the urgency of a sloth waking up from hibernation. Quite shocking, but not surprising that I nearly witnessed 2 fights in the one hour I was there over this debacle of a disorganised queue 'system'. Sort it out.

We had a family celebration in one of the separate rooms of the restaurant. All the staff were very responsive to my enquiries beforehand. On the day, the service was excellent. Despite being a big group, we were all served very promptly. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. The food was lovely and good portions. Everyone enjoyed, the atmosphere was nice. Would definitely come again for a celebration!

Worst roast dinner I’ve ever eaten I sent it back initially as it was stone cold for them to bring it back out about 3 mins later being told it’s been microwaved to ensure it’s hotter ! my partner had burger which was also awful and left most of it as full of fat and gristle ! Both of us have been unwell today and suggestive that the food was the cause Would genuinely recommend avoiding !

Nothing bad just nothing a bottle of Cornish cider was £6-90 there steak was in the £30 bracket but no mention of what cut it was ,very little if any atmosphere I got the feeling it was pretending to be something it isn't or likely to be but that's just my opinion others may think otherwise

Me and my mum came all the way from London and we stopped by at this unique and friendly Pup to have a couple of super tasty drinks and amazing food. They have lovely atmosphere, lot's of space, lovely cushions and great staff!! Would definitely recommend for anyone who passes by to simply TRY! The salt and pepper squid was a bit too crispy but was greatly complicated by the exceptional IPA, that is crafted only 7 miles away!

We ate in the Old Customs House during a recent stay in Portsmouth. The building itself is quite atmospheric, although the rooms themselves are somewhat soulless. Service was pleasant, and we didn't have to wait too long for our meals. Mine, I ordered the pie of the day, was fine, and hot and more that sufficient. My wife, who ordered the Crab Burger, was very disappointed, and realises now that she should have said something at the time. However, what she got was not a burger shape, but rather a lot of batter strips with small amounts of crab in them. So why call it a burger, when clearly it isn't. We wouldn't return, and wouldn't recommend either

We were a party of 6 visiting at lunchtime. The welcome was good and we were shown to the table. First thing we noticed was the top of the table was sticky, as were others in the room. I assume that cleaning the table had removed the varnish protection. In any event we ordered drinks and the meals. It just seemed to take an inordinate amount of time for the meals to be served. There were young children in the party and the wait was unacceptable. The meals themselves were well prepared
