The New Fox Inn in Ashford

Great pub with lovely food and fair on prices. The staff are what keep you going back as well, all of them are really friendly and personable. We have been a few times, the odd occasion at lunch time and also when the Euro’s were on, the atmosphere was buzzing and even though it was packed you didn't have to wait for more than a minute or two for drinks. Ethan is one staff member we know by name he's always very friendly and chatty, he's a top barman too! Highly recommended pub with gastro pub type menu.

We booked for a Sunday roast. When we arrived most of the tables in bar area were busy, but we were seat and our drink order was taken quickly. I had the beautifully cooked lamb shank, my wife had the roast beef and my daughter had the chicken. None of us were disappointed. Well definitely be back.

I took my family for lunch. This is my second visit in a week! On each occasion the meals were amazing. Large, well cooked, hot portions made to order and at an extremely reasonable price!! Will definitely be coming back.

Us 'Girls' always enjoy our monthly lunch here.. All the staff are always friendly and efficient Mel cooked us a lovely lunch today and as always service with a smile and banter from Ethan. Would definately recommend

Fun bar with live music most weekends

Me and my mum had hunters chicken..when it arrived..we couldn't cut into the bacon on top of chicken..also chicken was tough...but the young lady who was serving was so nice and polite..she didn't charge us for our 2 dinners..we did have dessert which was OK.

Had a wonderful Mother's Day roast , food was superb and the staff went above and beyond to make us welcome. Top notch food at good honest pub prices. Cannot praise Tracey and the team enough

I experienced a nice clean and cozy afternoon environment. The bar staff were very friendly and even came to my table to take my drink orders. Despite the "no dogs' sign on the door, I was overjoyed to see a couple of dogs inside. Dogs make any place a lot better! (and they're way more hygienic to have around food than kids!).

Lovely get together with family. Large portions of pub grub. Very friendly.

We were treated with fridge , helpful staff. The service was quick, but we didn’t feel rushed. The food was very nice. We all had roasts and were all very pleased. There was plenty on the plate. A great variety of veg all cooked just right. The meat was all good nicely too. Will be visiting again

A proper pub! Something of a rarity these days. Welcoming atmosphere, great staff, good pub grub at a very reasonable price, guest ales and lots of beer/cider choice. Sports and bands on regularly.

Sunday roast chicken is the best. Not only the portion is better than other pubs and restaurants but the taste is also good. Specially the vegetables in cheesey white sauce. The place is well maintained. Service upstairs takes a while but it's worth the wait.

Warm, inviting local. A lovely pub. I'm treated like royalty in here. Great staff. Well kept beer. Great food. If I was to really nitpick, the only things I'd mention would be the decor (just the walls) could be a bit warmer and more homely. It's a bit white/beige. It could be made to feel cosier. It needs an open fire and a few big armchairs 😊😊 A fab pub, my favourite place to drink. I hope it continues to do well in the future.

Had lamb shanks - delicious meat that fell off the bone, just like it should. Mash, peas & grave good, but I would have loved more veg and roast potatoes! Apparently one gets that on Sunday - will have to go back for that one Sunday! Good parking, though we went when it wasn't peak times. Excellent service!

I visited here with my best friend, for lunch. The staff were polite, responsive and smiley. The decor is a little 'cold', it felt like a well decorated industrial unit, it would benefit from some warming soft furnishings. There were two, very rectifiable issues. It took 30 minutes for our meal to come. Every table(3) was taken, but only one tables meal came out before ours, so it wasn't delayed due to the lunchtime rush. We ordered 3 burgers. If every thing was frozen it doesn't take 30 mins to cook. I must say it didn't taste frozen. What it did taste was dry, like it had been under a heat lamp? So maybe kitchen time management was the problem? The serving staff should have been aware that our meal was late. No member of staff was aware of the delay, we had to raise our concern. And, staff were unloading boxes through the front door during our visit. No! Don't do this through the bar during lunchtime . Take it round the back. As I said rectifiable problems, which the charming staff I'm sure are more than capable of improving

Went today for Sunday lunch. The staff were all friendly and service good. There was a wait for food but it was very busy. The lunch was excellent well cooked,hot and very tasty . I had the vegetable tartlet with vegetable gravey. Nice wine. All very well priced . Will definitely eat there again.

If you want a perfect local, this ticks every box. We wanted an easy Friday to not cook and take the kids for a bite to eat. Service was friendly and welcoming, food delicious and we left feeling refreshed. Literally couldn’t ask for more. So happy we have this pub on our doorstep. Please don’t change!!

This has quickly become our favourite local pub for several reasons... -The quality and value for money of food. -Friendly, welcoming staff. -A beautiful, sunny garden. -The Sunday roasts are delicious. -Amazing love music acts at the weekend. -Family friendly (books and board games to entertain everyone). Highly recommend this pub to anyone visiting Ashford and to locals who have yet to discover it.

Very welcoming staff when we arrived for our roast dinner on Sunday of which we won on Ashford radio. Would like to fully recommend the portions are of good size loads of meat and if you would like extra roast potatoes or veg you can order also. Will definitely be returning for another lovely meal, will like to come during week to try some of the food off the main menu.

We had an amazing lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The food was fresh and hot, staff were happy and friendly and food turned up prompt. I’d recommend to anyone.

It's usually really good food and service. However we booked an afternoon tea for 30 people. We had booked time if arrival. They had sat people at one of our tables in main pub, so we all want outside to marquee. The food cane out in drips and drabs, in fact it took over one and a half hours to bring out all the plates of food. We had prearranged for gluten free and dairy free afternoon teas , but they bought out fruit and cheese. Gluten and dairy free products are available at local supermarkets. I would not recommend large groups going for afternoon tea, its OK for small groups as they don't seem able to cope with larger groups. We did write to the venue, but no reply received. As I say its usually a really good place to meet and eat, but on thus occasion we were very dissatisfied.

Amazing value for money with Great future Potential! We stumbled upon this pub while searching for a place to eat on a rainy Sunday. Our usual method involves a quick online search, browsing through reviews. Although it didn't possess the quintessential countryside charm being in a town centre location, it turned out to be a great experience. The quantity and quality of the food surpassed our expectations and ranked among the best we've had in quite some time. While the menu may have been limited to Sunday roast options, the portion sizes offered great value for money, exceeding what we initially anticipated. The ambiance and atmosphere of the pub were a bit underwhelming, but given the exceptional kitchen, staff, and delectable food we enjoyed, adding some more décor and additional interior elements would truly elevate this place. All in all, we were thrilled to have discovered this gem and are already planning to return on a day when the menu offers a wider variety, perhaps during the week or on a Saturday. This place has a great future and we would love to see it succeed!

Had never been to this pub (even when it was the windmill) popped in by chance, and was pleasantly surprised! Tidy and reasonably priced pub with nicely-done food. I'll be coming again!

We went randomly with friends and the football was on. It was very busy but still felt safe and the staff were quick and efficient. The atmosphere was great, everyone was friendly and the outside area was clean and accessible.

Great stop over on the way back from our business meeting in Ashford. Lovely seats, and a dart board! The governor told me they also do comedy nights. And a big smoking tent in the back yard, where I saw evidence of barbecues...🔥 Good luck to the new owners, they deserve it!

Very nice well cooked food and well presented. However it did feel a bit rushed to get all 3 courses served. Left feeling quite bloated. Will try a Sunday lunch though. Quite a transformation from the old gig pub days.

What a fantastic pub/restaurant!! We werr a party of 20 and they managed to cater for us. Food was great and the staff couldnt do enough for us! Reasonable prices too! Highly recommended!!

Update: We returned for a mid-afternoon Sunday lunch and to watch the Arsenal Tottenham match. Yet again the management and staff were most friendly, efficient and accommodating. Sundays is roast dinner day and we both decided on the lamb shank, this was an excellent choice. The meat was tender, moist and very tasty. It was served with assorted roast and steamed vegetables and topped with a Yorkshire pudding. A boat of piping hot gravy and mint sauce followed within a minute. Quality was excellent and great value. We had a bottle of the Australian Shiraz which was very good. The pub had added a third wall-mounted screen for World Cup which made viewing an even better experience. I'd point out that this is a family pub and only some of the guests were there to enjoy the match. The commentary was therefore not set loudly and this was absolutely fine. This pub had achieved a great balance between younger and older clients; sports fans and those just there for a drink and possibly a meal. Updated 18th Jan 23 What a great Friday-night experience! We'd not used this family friendly pub since it had been refurbished and rebranded as the New Fox Inn. We phoned on a Friday evening and booked a table for supper with Rachel who accommodated us, at short notice, in a most friendly and polite manner. We arrived at the busiest time, around 18:45 when both the bar and the garden were heaving. Our table was reserved for us and, despite the many folks present, we were able to quickly order our food and a bottle of the great value House wine 'The Guv'nor' which was served at our table. Our starters of whitebait and calamari arrived quickly and both were excellent, crisp and piping hot. There was a bit of a delay for our main course, but that was fine as we'd had a starter and were able to chat and enjoy our wine while watching the Arsenal game on the two HD wall-mounted screens. The main courses were also both excellent, with large portions. I had the steak and ale pie which was the best I've had in a restaurant with masses of exceptionally tender, fat-free beef and great pastry top and bottom; a proper pie! My wife had the Hunters chicken which was also great with plenty of chicken and bacon and with a delicious cheese sauce. Our chips too were ultra-crisp and piping hot. Well worth a bit of a wait for such a great, freshly prepared supper. Again, despite the busy Friday evening, staff checked in with us several times to ensure that we were happy with the meal. Great service, exceptional food and terrific value. Will definitely return.

Sunday lunch was very poor. Went for a family birthday and there was 11 of us. Waited1 hour 15 minutes for dinner and they were cold and had to be sent back some more then once. Gravy stone cold had to be returned. Our server was lovely and couldn't fault her but something needs to be done with kitchen staff. Not only was it cold but potatoes were inedible vegetables over cooked and Yorkshire puddings could bounce off the wall. Won't be going there again.

Generously portioned Sunday roast @ £9:95 is very well priced. Roast pork was lovely, good crackling ( a must!) and plenty of vegetables. Others in our party had chicken, gammon /turkey and one went for the mixed meats which was a huge portion. This was our first visit and look forward to our next one!

Nice pub and garden , Roast dinner was ok , although the service was very slow,we waited half hour for our food.When we finally got our food we were asked if we want more drinks, we placed our order and after finishing our food gave up waiting for more drinks.

Not good at all. :( I've ordered steak pie with mash and peas. Food looked great, on pictures even fabulous, but it had no flavour. Gravy was store bought and tasted like literally nothing, mash tasted like worst instant powder putty. My husband got salad with bacon and chicken and it was not cut properly, some lettuce chunks were very big and in general quality of veg was poor. Two stars because garden was nice and clean, but what a disappointment. :(

First time I've been in since the big takeover, I only live up the road so should use it more. Went in for a pint and lunch. Nice friendly welcome and good food. Just what is needed with pubs these days trying to be restaurants and overdoing everything. Keep it simple works well. Will be back soon enough.

Wow! We went to The New Fox Inn on Wednesday night (Mexican night) and the food was amazing! The bar staff were chatty and friendly, we were served at the table and the food arrived piping hot. We’ll definitely be coming back and can’t wait to try the roast if it’s anything near like what the Mexican was.

I've found a little jewel with the new fox Inn also the desert was absolutely gorgeous...the young lady who waited the table was a delight cheerful polite and nothing was too much trouble...well done 1st class.

I don’t understand why this place is so quiet! There are precious few decent pubs in Ashford, less with good food. After our first visit, we made a point of coming back. Same again, great service, good food (the lasagne is superb) huge portions (actually too much) good prices. Again, why isn’t it packed out? Recommended

Lovely place food was great, well my parsnips were a bit over cooked but considering they were fully booked service was great & the rest of the food was great. Love the new decor & I had breakfast a while ago that was lovely even had vegetarian sausages 😊
