This is a REAL English pub. The food is Really good and the Guinness is quite good too!

What a great find! Called in just for a drink and made a general enquiry about eating options. We were shown the main menu plus a 'special deal menu' which was for two. Well I have to say we had two times the special menu as there was four of us. The food was superb. We will certainly be going back and our family members that came with us that live locally will be going back too.

Great pub, very friendly and welcoming to strangers. We had a lovely Indian meal upstairs and a few drinks in the pub downstairs. Perfect evening.

A very spacious pub. The Landlord was very friendly and obliging. My Wife has a gluten allergy and the Chef prepared fish and chips in gram flour, which my Wife enjoyed very much. The menu is Indian street food based, apart from fish and chips, or scampi and it was very good. Cask ale was also in good condition. A very friendly and welcoming pub, I would definitely visit again.

Great real ale. Pub was packed for both football and rugby. Safe atmosphere.

Popped in the other day for a beer, the chap on the bar was really lovely and told us all about their restaurant too. So hoping we will get in for some food soon. Quiet but we were early. Child friendly too which is good (didn’t bring my kids but other children were in).

Awful food. Nachos were obviously made using cheap squeeze bottle sauces. The tasteless cheese and sauces was coagulated before it arrived at the table. My partners fish and chips were heavily salted (without consent) and he found the fish unpalatable. He compared it to cheap frozen products. Although my partner was refunded his money, no one was concerned enough to check my meal was ok. Won’t go back.

Poor, run down, smokey place. Where we were seated, the floor was covered with food and looked like it had not been vacuumed for a week. Some staff appeared to be disinterested in our order, didn't listen and subsequently got it wrong!!

Popped in on a Sunday evening (around 9:15pm) and was quieter than I expected. Lovely location, managed to bag an outside table to view the harbour at sunset. Good draft lager, and the barmaid was great and attentive. As I said was quiet so the atmosphere was a bit subdued but been passed here before and it's been much busier and seems a popular spot so will be back. Pay and display parking right outside but spaces limited, but a short walk from the harbour arm with more parking available.

Quiet day due to the weather, but a warm welcome at the pub.

I was here 3 years ago was great but just recently visited again and it's gone down hill a bit dirty facilities beer was poor

Visited a couple years ago with a mate on the way to Dover. Bloke behind the bar was doing two for one scotch and cokes, vibe was immaculate.

Nicely placed overlooking the harbour,the pub was nice and clean, as were the toilets. Great real Ale, the Doombar was the best I have had anywhere.The lady serving at lunchtime was welcoming and friendly. I will certainly visit The Mariner again next time I am in Folkestone.

Mariners is my favourite local pub. Good clean pumps and beer. Toilets clean. Landlord friendly and inviting

Nice pub but what makes it the most expensive pub I visited that day, I visited 6 different pubs, £9.80 for a pint of bitter and a pint of cider.

Wow what a face it is a must to visit

Out for a walk in the September sunshine with my parents. Got back to Folkestone harbour, standing by a bench outside, the barmaid (Kia/h) walking over already and greeting us, very friendly too. Knew the drinks list and told us what they had. Chose our drinks and sat down, no time at all had passed and she returned with our drinks and the card machine. Paid and the drinks were lovely and refreshing, she returned shortly after asking if we wanted to have another round.Never been in before but felt very valued by the bar and Kia/h. We were very impressed by the bar and her customer service. Will be sure to go back in next time we're down.

Our group stopped here for a drink after walking from Dover. We were welcomed briskly, and our beer was poured efficiently, but there was no attempt at further interaction from the staff, even though the pub was almost empty. We left after one drink.

No children, no food, BUT if you are into good beer then this is the best! Always a great selection of ales, always perfectly kept. Very friendly and a great place to enjoy a superb pint. Even better in the summer sitting outside looking over the harbour.

Went to the mariners to see a band. Staff in here are so polite. We had a great time. Watched the band drank lots. Fabulous. What was even more amazing was the fact it was rammo in there so many people but the bar man remembered the round. There were 9 of us and he just remembered it. It was great. Just what a real local pub was like. Superb recommend this pub to anyone who is in Folkestone and wants to drink in a real traditional pub. Loved it. Had a great time.

Stopped by for a drink after walking round the harbour. Made to feel very welcome and visited again for the next two nights. Reasonable prices and pleasant company

Visiting Sandgate nearby so popped in to watch the match on TV. Full of locals (it was a Sunday) but very welcoming and some excellent ales on draught.

Really disappointed to be told that only one glass of tap water would be served and then I would have to buy a bottle of water. I bought a pint for my partner and I asked for a glass of water to start with. We would have stayed all evening with both of us drinking alcoholic drinks but instead moved to a water friendly pub just a short walk away. No need for this attitude from landlords.

After a long trip down to folkestone from Leeds. We walked from our hotel to this pub hoping for a nice drink with the family. The pub was quiet with about 5 people in it. Walked to the nice lady behind the bar and askes if we were ok with children with us..NO i was told .....to say Folkestone is suppose to be a family welcoming town. This pub definatly is not. I will not come back to this place again..

Very nice pub with a great and friendly couple that run it. We popped in for a few afternoon drinks and stayed to watch the football on Sky Sports I’d recommend if you want somewhere in the harbour for a few drinks

The mariner is a welcoming regular pub.WE only had the breakfast but it was poor.My main concern was the room.Meant to be en suite but the toilet shower was outside the door passed an office and very separate !!! the bed was very uncomfortable and the room was small.We would not go back.Not value for money.

Outside seating is available. Beers were good. Didn't try the food though. Enjoy your beer with a sea view!

We were at The Mariner last night for the Champions League Final - a packed pub on a hot evening. The bar staff were amazing - attentive, helpful and friendly. We never had to wait to be served and they even brought drinks over. We have watched a few matches here and would thoroughly recommend the pub - both for football and for other occasions when you can sit outside and enjoy the sun and the superb view of lovely Folkestone Harbour.

Had an absolutely wonderful day her today it was a bit breezy so didn't get to sit outside but it was fantastic inside and got to look out over the harbour. My food was delicious one of my new favourite places to eat absolutely wonderful service was amazing and the atmosphere of the place itself was relaxed and sociable. Perfect on so many levels. Couldn't be more chuffed with today's visit. Will be back again in due course

A beautiful smile she has. The bar maid gave me perfect service. I couldn't take my eyes off of her.As she was pulling my pint, she flicked her lush smelling hair and I got a feeling I had never felt before. The beer was lovely, only because she pulled it.I would highly recommend everyone to go to this pub and be served by hedi.

Booked a table as had heard and read good reviews but was slightly disappointed. The food was ok but the roast potatoes were more like boiled with a slight tinge to them. Vegetables came separately and needed to ask for some separate gravy as only a drizzle on the meat.

Wow, how good was this. 38 guests and all food from starters to desserts came all out on time and really good. The staff were really nice and very friendly. We had the restaurant all to ourselves and we all had a fantastic time, recommend this for any event

We have had Sunday roast here twice and it's fantastic food , restaurant manager is superb accomodated our request for a sea view if possible , can't fault the food , pate starter perfect and roast are plentiful and cooked to perfection , a well run restaurant by a great manager , can't understand people's comments on it being expensive it's a very reasonable price , faultless , ,☺☺

Four for lunch on a warm and sunny October day. Cosy upstairs dining room with a table next to open french window overlooking the harbour. Good food, attentive staff and very reasonably priced. Thoroughly recommended.
