Service was prompt. Nice to hear waves splashing on the beach just wish the food had been even as good as decent. English muffin was old, pancakes were tough and hashbrowns left in a warming tray 2 hours too long.

Some of the best coffee in the area and some amazing, delicious and reasonably priced menu choices - locally sourced. The staff are genuinely friendly. You can also enjoy Hythe’s seascapes (all weathers) - there’s plenty of seating outside. It’s idyllic in the summer- it can get very busy, why wouldn’t it? 😊. A truly local, seaside cafe, literally ‘on the beach’ - a gem of a place ❤️.

My friend and I are locals(not that it matters). We chose to go to Cafe on The Beach this evening. There were several tables available(albeit dirty) but were told it would be a 20min wait. While we waited another 10min we decided to walk up to the bar(we had to ask the bartender for a drink menu…he responded at 6:01 HH is over! We said, do you still have alcohol?). The 4 wait staff never made eye contact with us, the bartender never asked “have you decided what you’d like to drink? After about 15 min with zero change in cleanliness, service or attitude my friend and I left. We went to Padre Island Brewry where we had incredible service and amazing food & drink.🤗

We always enjoy eating here. The food is good, service is friendly, and it's nice being able to eat outside.

Ordered a pound of peel and eat shrimp. Texture and taste were wonderful. Our server, Nathan, was very attentive and responsive.

Had the Ruben. Very good nice hot and fresh.

You are not too far from the water, and it's a clean and fun place for breakfast. It is a well managed Cafe with a lot of items to choose from, along with alcohol. Open all-day breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Service is fast. The food is tasty and appealing. You can dine in or carry out. It's in back of the Palms motel which is a fabulous place to stay modern features.

Good food, typical prices for the area. Nice beach access and great staff. Inside and outside seating options.

Just hanging at the beach with friends and a pup. We enjoyed great service all around. Our fur baby got his own serving of water in a size appropriate bowl. The food was great. The ocean view was great.

What a great little place!! We had breakfast, it was very good and reasonably priced! I had a omelet, very good, my husband had the eggs benedict it was delicious... The coffee was the best on the island, so far!

We have been here many times and it never dissapoints. Food is great, and you can not beat earing right off the beach.

It was nice, but they don’t like if you order only like $60 worth if food (note that we ordered also several smoothies at the bar before getting a table due to the waitlist for tables). Food was tasty, wine was good, atmosphere seemed fairly nice too. But it felt a bit passive aggressive. They charged us $1.95 for the child licking a ketchup bottle, but … then they just put the ketchup back with the other ketchups for the next customers. how unsanitary. I would’ve been perfectly fine if they had told me that they had to get rid of the bottle and they were going to charge me six dollars, instead they didn’t tell me and sort of slipped in the charge and passed that unsanitary ketchup to next customers.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Cafe on the Beach! The food was absolutely delicious, with fresh flavors and beautiful presentation. The ambiance was perfect – the ocean views were stunning and the restaurant itself was cozy and inviting. A special thanks to Nathan for his attentive and friendly service. He made our meal even more enjoyable.

I've been coming here since I discovered them in 2020 during Covid. Great Food, atmosphere and View of the Gulf. 2024 : We just had Breakfast there and it's still Fantastic!!!

Enjoyed the laid back friendly vibe so much that we returned! Great peel and eat shrimp, refreshing bottle of wine kept on ice, mussels and mahi mahi tacos and fries were delicious. Our servers Irvin (Thursday) and Lindsay (Sunday) were awesome - very friendly and attentive.

Watched the moon shining on the gulf while eating a delicious meal. Will return.

Favorite place on the Island. The waiters are outstanding. Good menu. The shrimp is excellent. I live on the tortilla soup. And the setting on the shore can't be beat.

This is the first time we've been disappointed here. Still awesome service, beautiful views, but this time....poor food. We had mini Caesar salads, shrimp and oyster basket, and the mussels. The salads were pretty bland, and the lettuce was definitely past it's prime. The shrimp were good, but the fried oysters were not. The mussels were mainly broken, and there were so many teeny bits of shell that they were unavoidable. Sad. We will hope for a better go next time.

The food was great each time we went. We did go during the week right after school started in August so there was always a table. Servers were all friendly and responsive. Peaceful little spot next to the beach.

Food is good. Manager was being rude while people were just washing their feet on shower they provide for people.

Nice small cozy & quaint place looking over the beach. Excellent margarita's, Lobster tail and peel & eat shrimp. Aaron, was a great server, thank you. You're inside with open air seating. You'll have to chase of a few flies, but they don't overtake you. I will eat here again!

Love this beautiful little cafe. Great food with some daily specials. They have a good happy hour margarita too. Be aware that it can get pretty busy on weekend mornings.

Great location on the beach & yummy food. My Reuben was so stuffed with goodies I had to eat it with a fork. Nice service, too! Lots of entertaining grackles around.

After waiting 15 minutes to be served ,from standing in a queue from kiosk window I noticed people who had gone into coffee shop after me , being served . I decided to try my luck at ordering inside shop. I am physically disabled and struggled to gain access to counter in cafe because of lack of room and the cafe full of customers. I was met with a very rude woman who said ,What do want…Not can I help! I replied would like to order please . She said can’t order in here go to outside window. I stated I had being queued outside and had Not be served. She replied, we are very busy. I was embarrassed and turned around left the cafe struggling yet again to leave the cafe because lack of space because of my disabilities. I will not ever again use your facility ,or will not recommend it to anyone I know. I live in this area There are lots of coffee shops and eateries which are more welcoming with better customer services in Hythe.

Best restaurant on the beach for ahi tuna, grilled red snapper, sweet potato fries, drinks and of course the ocean.

Love this place. We go here for breakfast whenever we visit SPI.

Frozen food like chicken tenders and fries are less expensive. The rest of them are expensive and the quantity is less. They could have installed Misty fans for outdoor seating.

This had a medium sized wait, but I'd say it was worth it. The view of the beach is so amazing and you can go on the beach and swim. The food was amazing(I got breakfast). I would recommend this place when you look for a bite to eat.

Best dog friendly place on South padre! They were. Kind enough to offer water to my dog immediately after we arrived.. food is very good so we’re the cocktails! Good choice for a laid back evening or for a special occasion..

The pineapple coconut dipping sauce with the coconut shrimp is so addicting 😋 This spot is perfect for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!! And you can't beat the view being right on the beach 😎 A must try 👌

A friendly and welcoming cafe situated on the promenade in Hythe with a beautiful uninterrupted view of the sea. The menu is full of regular and imaginative choices and the tea & coffee is the best in the area (I recommend the poached eggs-always cooked to perfection). The staff and owner Vicky make a visit here a pleasure, so much so that we are now regulars!

The service was very good and quick. Our food got here promptly. The taste of the food I ordered was so so and needed lots more seasoning. I had the shrimp tacos. It was very bland I had to add lots of salt and pepper. The tortilla soup that came with my tacos was pretty good as was a very small portion of coleslaw. My wife had the teriyaki chicken sandwich with fries. She enjoyed hers alot. Also be aware all seating is outside. No indoor seating.

Took my daughter because we wanted fried seafood. Probably some of the best we have ever had. The combo was awesome. Jeicy O was our waitress, she was awesome with the most warming smile.

Cute spot, has everything you need for breakfast, lunch, dinner and bar. Parking is limited for the cafe since it is connected to The Palms Resort and beach access.

I had the eggs Benedict which was good except the muffin was so tough I couldn't even cut with a knife!

I highly recommend the place. The location makes it perfect. The service is attentive. Prices can vary, but the food is always well-served. I ordered a spinach and cheese omelet, and it was delicious. I ended up spending $40, not bad at all.

It's a must-go if you stay nearby or stumble across it while walking on the beach. Great view, open air, great food, fast, friendly service

As usual, poor service from staff, rusty tables and chairs outside the cafe and over cooked, over priced food. Basically you only go here if you have no other option. Hopefully one day, they will sort themselves out and improve the facilities and their customer service. But I doubt it. More likely they will reply with some kind of passive, aggressive statement or plead the family run route.

Beautiful ocean view! We love coming here for that reason and the beachy vibe! The service is great and the food comes out fast, hot, and delicious. Definitely recommend trying this place out and making it part of your rotation!

Cafe on the beach is one of the nicest places to meet up along our lovely seafront in Hythe. Not only is the food tasty and the coffee delicious, the staff and owner Vicky are the warmest, friendliest and most welcoming people you could wish to meet. Every day is busy for them but particularly at weekends, but we as regular customers know how hard they are working, both with inside and outside customers. When I read the review Maureen wrote it was pretty damming and uncalled for, on that particular day it was the Hythe bay triathlon and Vicky and her team opened up the cafe at seven am, two hours early to help support and cater for the participants, the cafe was the busiest I have ever seen it, but the staff were just their usual smiling selves and working as a great team, despite being run off their feet! Well done Vicky and all your cafe on the beach family ❤️

I'd really like to counteract Maureen from Maidstones review....I meet here every sat and sun (also midweek when I can) with my husband and friends. COTB offers a warm, friendly and nutritious welcome to locals and visitors alike. Furthermore it has recently won a Community award for its contribution to the locality. Food is homecooked and imaginative, and coffee the best around. Staff and owner (Vicky) are welcoming and friendly...they could not do more to make you feel at home. Maureen.....give it another try, I'm sure you will have your mind changed. Sometimes we need to look beyond a few mere crumbs on a table, to the yummy jammy doughnut centre....there is where we find the true heart and soul of COTB. xx

The corned beef hash is a must try!! It’s made in house and delicious.

A great spot but the service is bad. My toast didn't even have a colour and put in a paper bag, although I was sitting at a table. The table weren't cleaned, the staff are scruffy and no one seems to know what they are doing! This could be a great business if managed properly. So disappointing. Won't be using again 😔😔😔

We really wanted to dine there and after reading some reviews we thought it was considered pet friendly, but when we came with our small dog, we were not allowed in the vented open patio area, but only sit outside in the heat. Too bad, we left. Not so pet friendly.

Lots of flies. Had to fight them for our food. Management need to addess this problem.

What a hidden gem! Small little cafe right on the beach. The food was delicious . We had the grilled red snapper both entree and sandwich. Shared a cup of seafood bisque which was yummy and the beachside salad was to die for! Would definitely go back.

Great location facing the beach. All seating is outside, but there are some great shady spots. Got the seafood bisque and the red snapper sandwich and both were very good. The seasoning on the red snapper was spot on. Great place!

What a hidden gem. Definitely put this on the list of places to try for breakfast! Dinner was good too. The pancakes were so fluffy and delicious. The Beachcomber lite was perfect.

Food was not as good aa expected, especially for the price. Enjoyed the atmosphere even though it was too hot, sat under umbrella but sun was still hitting my back. Server never came to offer refills unless refills are not available. I was there for breakfast, right before lunch. Possibly lunch and dinner are much better.

Our server was absolutely awful, he said "let's get this over with" when we told him we were ready to order (and not in a joking way either). Took 7 minutes for us to get our first drinks. Never got a refill on our drinks and never checked up on us. There was a hair in our chips. The cheese curd was burnt for the salad. Other than those problems, the entrees were absolutely stellar (except for the Ruben, when shared around the table it was a mutual consensus that the meat tasted awful), but we would never go there again purely because the service was so disastrous.

Just left. We got there before 11. Host took our names. Sat down at 10:58. Waitress came over took our dreams & came back to tell us “it’s 11:04AM” we stopped serving breakfast… wow great we didn’t wait almost 30 minutes to be seated & could spare 4 minutes ok .

Nice little spot by the beach that we walked to from our off-site accommodations. Simple breakfast is what we had and it hit the mark.

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was ok for a place right at the beach. But what brought my rating down, is that we were brought the bill without us asking for it. We were actually talking about getting something else, when the bill arrived at our table… so I guess our presence was not to their liking? No one was waiting to be seated, so why the rush? I’m sorry, but in my book that is plane rude.

Was so good we went for 2 meals. Dinner, and the breakfast. Plating was a nice touch. Key Lime was a nice treat. Ambiance was good, could use table fans to chase away flies. So good we went twice, family of 6 pleased both times.

They went above and beyond and gave our dogs treats and water without us even asking. The service was impeccable and we all loved the food that came out quick.

The fried food is very full of oil, it seems that your fryers lack temperature. The burger I ordered was quite dry, the meat was quite dry and the bread was also half old. The service was suddenly good and fast, but then the waiter disappeared for a long time If I come back and things go better, I'll give the place more stars.
