Went there on a Saturday nite live music, which was very good, lots of choice on tap , service behind the bar was good considering how busy it was

Bar girl constantly on her phone no sky or tnt tv on display just sums up maidenhead town center it's crying out for more. To many unaffordable places to live good luck good luck maidonians

This is probably the best pub in a town which is seriously short of decent pubs. It's a fairly traditional town centre pub with a decent pub atmosphere, although there is a large TV screen which seems to show a constant stream of adverts for the pub and its products, on a loop, which is a little annoying. On the bar, they have a good range of ales available: not a huge selection but they have been very well chosen, almost all from smaller local breweries such as Windsor & Eton and Rebellion. There is an interesting menu which is a little different from the bog-standard pub fayre. They offer a range of burgers and wraps but the house speciality is the chicken. You can have a quarter, a half or a whole chicken or skewers or wings. We all chose chicken options and they did not disappoint. They come with a selection of sauces which are baked onto the chicken (or you can have it plain). I opted for a half chicken at £11.50, probably about the right size for me. It was absolutely delicious, beautifully flavoured with the sauce and lovely and succulent. Prices are reasonable, but do not include any accompaniments. If you want, for example, some chips, that will set you back another £3.30. There is an outdoor courtyard to the rear and they host live music on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Nice, lively pub in the centre of Maidenhead. Had a live band - playing some cool tunes from the 70s and 80s. Good selection of ales, IPAs and beers on tap. Had four Jaegers for £10er. Would go again.

Celebrated my birthday at this place. Horribly dirty glasses, disgusting tasting pot of scampi, and rude staff definitely made my day. I am not ready to recommend it at all.

We have been there today with friends with few people coming a bit later. There is nothing special about food (rating 3 is for over grilled/a bit burnt burgers and chicken, probably even that is too generous), drinks selection is generally very standard. However, staff was rude and service substandard because: One of our friends coming later was very hungry and tried to order food, but was told that kitchen is closed for next hour(it was few minutes into that closure hour). She got a sandwich outside, and order drinks in the Maiden's Head, and was eating this sandwich with beer waiting until kitchen opens (again, nearly one hour before it reopens). She was in rude manner told to stop eating it, etc and no one from staff even apologised to kitchen closure nor tried to find a reasonable solution. So, this pub gets rating of 1 for service (they claim to serve food, have food menus available, but close kitchen in the middle of the day). (hint - reprint your menus and put this information there, it is not difficult and not even very expensive, single sticker(at least that is the only one I saw) on one of doors to smoking area is definitely genius approach) and rudeness (hint - you knew that kitchen is closed, and didn't even attempted to apologise to your customer. Also, although for some people it might be debatable - if you were attempting to provide good service you should have either let her eat sandwich - closing kitchen is YOUR problem, - or figure out how you can provide her with food she was ready to order). This is a very rare case when I personally regret that we were not in the US - you guys would get 0% tip vs usual 20%. Overall summary: quite ordinary pub, with average (but edible) "nothing special" food and poor service. Update to a response: 1. I do not want do get into argument, sort of pointless, I believe we all will stand where we are. 2. Re: burgers - I am sorry to say, but if beef in the burger is crunchy and burnt on edges, that is not a great burger. Though, I will confirm that pickle on it was surprisingly good. 3. There was only one noticeable sticker on one door about kitchen opening times (door to area where smoking is permitted). 4. The only smell I remember what smell of tobacco smoke when someone opened the above mentioned door for several minutes, so 'smelly' argument is sort of empty. (point being if I can smell tobacco smoke, I certainly can smell smelly food someone is eating less than a meter from where I am) 5. Your staff was acting in a manner 'stop eating because I told you so'. Not even single attempt to apologise for inconvenience caused and find a solution. 6. And finally: your kitchen being closed and lack of well noticeable signs about it - your problem. Overall, my goal was to write here what really happened and my experience as a customer, and this is what I did.

Sorry I didn't put anything for the food as I only had drinks, but what can I say? The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Good selection of drinks and plenty of seating in and out side. Thank you for your hospitality.

Really nice vibe in this bar. Beer is very safe....and it is and yet it's served in tip top condition and champions local breweries. Fine with this. Hence upping a star. Odd shaped glasses. Like this!

One of Maidenheads primary nightly hotspots, pub atmosphere often live and lively music (small groups and solo performers) in the bar area with back room areas and beer garden for those with more sensitive ears and interest in conversation.

First visit week vibrant pub with good staff and a live band on return chicken skewers were to die for bit pricey but you pay for what you get

Good menu offer for a pub, we enjoyed the grilled chicken options and the local cider. Different sitting areas indoor & outdoor. Staff were nice and helpful. Seems like a good place for groups.

The Maidens Head, a wonderful little pub with a great selection of food and drink. Plenty of outdoor seating. Great service from the bartender Lewis. Fantastic and entertaining live music on a regular basis. Good place to watch sports. Would highly recommend.

I came here on Monday for the first time in YEARS! Wow what a fabulous improvement...!! Staff very friendly and took the time to talk to me and my baby. Really nice environment to have lunch. Food was great and really quick service. Will definitely be back.

The restaurant is located in the small downtown area of Maidenhead. The atmosphere was lively, especially during the holidays. We had some delicious burgers 🍔, and you get to choose which type of fries 🍟 to have with them. Both options, regular and spicy fries, are really tasty (they have different names that i no longer remember, but i do remember that the first one is the normal one). Next time, I'm thinking of tacking the spicy one! 😋.

A pub had stood here for generations and has changed hands many times and had many different names. The last landlords did a good job with renovations. The interior is very smart and well maintained. The bar staff are pretty friendly and attentive. The bar offers a good range of decent ales and lager. You won't find the lower tier Australian and American lagers served here. The food menu is simple and straightforward as expected of a small kitchen. The burgers in particular are well made here. At the rear of the premises is a very nice out door/beer garden area, which is often heaving in the summer. Most Saturday nights you can expect to see a live band preform and this often draw quite a throng so be aware of if you are planning quiet Saturday night drink.

We had a wonderful experience here the other evening. We were a group of 5 adults, 4 children and turned up after bowling. The bar man Barry went the extra mile getting us seated and comfortable. The food was perfect, delicous and generous . I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. It was just so refreshing to actually enjoy all elements of going out somewhere... Food, service, atmosohere ( and music as was open mic night).. Five stars, we will be back

Absolutely superb pub and I've been in enough to know a good 'un when I see it. Fabulous beer, wonderful vibe from punters and staff alike. Oh, those complimentary pork pies were delicious. Highly recommended.

I had 1 pint and then the next pint tasted like washing detergent so I complained at the bar. I was given half a pint back as I had tasted. I went to get another pint but I was refused by the staff saying I had too much and was intoxicated. The short time I was in there the barman had coughed over fifty times into his little elbow which was lazy. Too young to work in a pub like that. Talking to a person in the way he did and the size he was I thought he must do jujitsu or something. Won’t return to have a pint or pick up the flu

We have been to the Maidens Head numerous times in the past and the food has always been good. But unfortunately last night was not so good. My husband ordered Peri Peri chicken wings but he said they were very salty and not crispy on the outside. Almost like they had just been dipped in the sauce. We both had fries and they were not fully cooked. My chicken bites were fine. No one came over to ask us how our meal was either. Disappointing.

Popped in for a meal before going onto the Coronation Concert, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had the Chicken Breast with BBQ sauce, spicy rice, rustic chips, corn on the cob and coleslaw. Everything was very tasty and the chicken was beautifully cooked, good sized portions and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

We popped in about five thirty and it was almost empty so its difficult to do a full review. Its an old pub with, I would imagine, a lot of history and when full a good atmosphere. There is a, tarmac I believe, beer garden so you can sit out in the sun. I have no idea about food or the service as we only had the one drink as we were waiting for the bus. I'd like to go back again and then I might be able to improve my rating.

A proper pub! Well presented, clean, very friendly - good mix of people (older vs youngsters), live music and fantastic atmosphere. Food is good and very reasonable too.

Fantastic Food, Brilliant Service and Great Atmosphere. Varied selection of chicken options and flavours. Burgers were full of flavour and would highly recommend for lunch or dinner.

Came in for impromptu lunch after recommendation from my wife studying nearby at SMAE Institute. I had to travel down from the Midlands to collect her due to train strikes but I’m glad I did now! I was only really looking for a sandwich but ending up with a great value deal of £6 which consisted of Nando’s style chicken drumstick, thigh and chips. You get to pick spice level on the chicken (I chose peri peri) and Cajun chips. Both of which were delicious! However it’s not just the food that makes me recommend this place! Customer service is excellent! I am currently with a walking stick due to a relapsed slipped disc and the lady at the bar noticed this when I went up to the bar and asked for a menu. She carried my pint over twice and also my shopping bag! She went above and beyond and I more than happy to recommend this place! Will be back next time in Maidenhead. Oh and the beer is rather good too. Real ale and local Marlow Brewery. Very moorish ale indeed!

We both had the Beef Sunday Roast Yesterday. It was excellent. Massive yorkshire, loads of veg, great roast potatoes and very lean tasty beef and plenty of gravy. First time we had the roast and will definately be having it again It is difficult to go out and get a good roast but Lee (The Manager) cooks the roast and he did an amazing job yesterday. Don't take it off the menu too soon please Lee !!! See you again on Sunday.

Not much of a pub, really. No atmosphere n closed early

They were really friendly and accommodating when we had a large family booking today. The food was insanely good. We ordered chicken wings which were cooked to perfection, the burger was one of the best my brother had in a long time. The roast looked amazing and all of this was inflation busting value. This is definitely a hidden gem in Maidenhead.

6 of us slept at the pub. It was close enough to the city centre and the rooms were pristine. Strongly recommend 👌

Great pub, good live band. Unfortunately, the obnoxious bouncer (the older one was fine) on Friday night was very unnerving. He appeared to be looking for trouble and frustrated there wasn't any. He wasn't directly rude to us or any other customers, but looked to be spoiling for action. He harassed the young bar staff. We won't come in again if he's on the door.

I called in here before going to a football match on a Saturday afternoon. The pub is nicely set up with wide range of good beer. The landlord and all of the staff were really friendly, as were all of the locals who made me feel very welcome. I would defintely call in here again if I return to Maidenhead.

We go to the Maidens Head all the time but we have never reviewed the food. This pub is the best pub in Maidenhead. Lovely staff, great management and best of all the food is fabulous. We had the lemon & garlic chicken and piri piri chicken last night with rusic fries and homemade coleslaw. Absolutely delicious as always. Chicken fell off the bone it was so tender. Try their burgers they are also great and the starter nibbles.

They found my bus pass and kept it behind the bar for me to collect!

This is one of the oldest pubs in Maidenhead. We dropped in on a fairly quiet Thursday night and had a couple of pints whist sat up at one of the barrels. Great to see a good selection of craft beers some of which are from the local Marlow Brewery.

The best chicken I’ve ever had! I’ve been going to the Maidens Head for years and only discovered their chicken last year and wouldn’t go elsewhere for a chicken meal. The service is brilliant, the food is out of this world and my family are now hooked on eating here. Staff and management have a laugh, always ask how you are, very professional in what they do, it’s just a friendly environment which is always clean. If you love peri peri chicken look no further. The landlord/lady who run it are very friendly and having entertainment on Fridays and Saturday is an added bonus. There is not many pubs I can say are ‘perfect’ like I can with this one. You will not be disappointed. Lastly, your spoilt for choice of alcoholic beverages. I am proud to call this my local. Can’t wait to have chicken there again in 2023!

Best chicken wings in town - delicious - Love this place! Lee and Lou are brilliant! I work around the corner and come in at least once a week for a pint and some wings with the lads and ladies. Always welcomed with a smile and a good bit of banter. Can’t recommend this place enough - wing and wraps are perfect and reasonably for a lunch time bite. Can't say enough good things about this pub. Great selection of beers, wonderful staff, and the grilled chicken is awesome. Our favorite Maidenhead pub. Update 9 Oct 22: the pub has just added a Sunday Roast to the menu on Sundays. I have to say, I was not a fan of this British favorite, but since I had the one at the Maidens Head, I am now a fan. I was very impressed. I'll be back next Sunday.

The maiden, head Is a really great place to visit the staff are friendly the food is great and there is a really great selection drinks so I would really recommend it as a place to visit if you are in the maidenhead area
