I was passing on my dog walk and fancied a bap to take away, the lady who greeted me whilst I was waiting to be seated, was so lovely and accommodating. She invited me and my pup to take a seat whilst we looked through the menu. The service was fast and she offered water for my puppy which is so thoughtful on such a hot morning. Beautiful and relaxing set up outside and very friendly staff with lots of food and drink options available.

I agree with the unfriendly part! I witnessed the owner of the cafe being incredibly rude to a client and from what I saw was completely unprovoked and horrid attack. Not somewhere I would recommend if you want to be treated with a smile.

I love the garden and the view and the quirkiness and have been numerous times over the last few years. In general the food is basic but good value. And previously I have highly recommended it and well reviewed it. But on the last visit the ladies in charge were very unfriendly and abrupt and I was embarrassed in front of my SOuth African friends to see such rudeness. plus ladies , PLEASE change your sausages. They are extremely unpleasant - recovered pork?

Great food! Friendly staff. We both had burger and cheesy chips, with a portion of onion rings and drinks. The food was made to order and was delicious. The cheesy chips were the best I have ever had - the cheese was layered throughout the chips and not just on the top! I can highly recommend and will definitely be coming back here in the future. Thank you for a lovely experience xx

I come to the Mad Duck as often as I can find an excuse to, whether it's meeting a friend for breakfast, working from Cafe (WFC!) or just dropping in for cake after walking along the river. Wonderful place - justly deserving of all the awards!

We went as a group of walkers after a walk through Purley and back along the river. Having booked for 10, 17 decided they wanted to visit the cafe, so I phoned Mandy and she reserved 3 tables in the garden for us. When we arrived, we ordered our food and drinks, and everything arrived promptly, freshly prepared. A mix of cooked light lunches and sandwiches. All very reasonably priced.I visit this cafe regularly and am never disappointed. Well done Mandy and team.

This is our second time here travelling from Sutton Coldfield to celebrate with my sister-in-law and her lovely husband. We had a wonderful welcome and sat in the sitting room area which is so relaxing. I fully recommend you book this table and then brouse the free library. The food was yummy and all the staff made our experience very special. Will definitely visit again.

This is a favourite cafe of ours and four of us went recently to celebrate my special big birthday. Each of the four of us chose something different: everything arrived freshly-made, hot and delicious. Lovely friendly staff and a really quirky place. We sat on the stage next to the brimming bookcases - 'help yourself!' We did, and will take some books in next time we go. Table games on each table. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere...

Not sure about writing the review it truly deserves -will get too many people coming! It's already much better than last year. Lovely welcoming staff, nothing is too much trouble, even when busy with February half-term crowds of kids. Food is is 'homely' in the best sense and incredible value for money. Even satisfied our usually 'picky' grandchildren. Maddy and Donna deserve a medal for filling the gap left when the Mapledurham Lock cafe shut with somewhere so much better.

We stopped for a much needed rest and refreshment break while walking. We had a very warm welcome and were made to feel at home. Only had a drink and lovely slice of homemade cake, but we're impressed with the simple and very reasonably priced menu. Will definitely be going back.

A lovely, unpretentious cafe cooking honest, well priced food in a lovely location. Was a brilliant stop at the end of a riverside walk. More cafes should be like this.

I normally write my reviews straight away but I’m late uploading to Trip Advisor. We had been to the races and called into this pub after. A quirky pub. Great ambience. Ordered sharing bits and the food was excellent. Will definitely return again when back at the races.

This is just a charming Pub with a wonderful menu. The food was excellent we dined two nights and each enjoyed a different item on the menu each night. The large glassed in addition and the venue out in the yard create great spaces regardless of the weather. ( although apparently we lucked out with great weather) I must say we had a wonderful time at the old Boot Inn. The hosts are warm and friendly. A very inviting place. We plan to come back again!

Lovely sunny garden with plenty of seating and shade. Excellent varied menu from which I chose the smoked salmon and then a ribeye steak. My partner had pigeon and then monk fish all of which arrived piping hot and was very tasty - we cleared our plates! Definitely would recommend this pub both for a drink and for food. The garden is lovely, they are dog friendly and the interior has had a stylish makeover which makes sitting inside a pleasure

Never been here before but liked the idea of the pies. Absolutely blown away, outstanding. The good old boy was lovely. Shame I hadn’t visited before. Will be back. Well done.
