Batter was awful and didn't get many chips. Whole load of attitude from the server too which was a shame, used to love this shop! Went again today 19,10,24 and still the same.

I have eaten in several times, sometimes with friends, and every time the food and the service has been first class; and none of us are backward in coming forward with criticism. The shop was once excellent but went through several owners and some frankly very bad patches. Under its present ownership, it is certainly headed in the right direction. The atmosphere is welcoming and the surroundings olde worlde, so much the better. Highly recommended.

Very friendly staff , fair price , cod was very taste but the chips wer a bit on the cold side , ordered a steak and kidney pie but could not taste the kidney , but the shop was super clean

Went here after taking a few years hiatus. New owners...Again. The new set of people behind the counter have been the 7th in the span of 10 years. Couldn't speak English that well. The food: they hadn't changed the oil. The sausage, chips and fish had a weird stale aroma nd tasted what they smelt like. The chips were alright. Quite tasty. A bit dry. Not the best. The fish was uneatable. Slightly overcooked and the aroma was very off putting. It was literally like putting old oil in my mouth. The meat was chewy. This used to be the best in Folkestone & Hythe from the late 2000s through to about 2013/2014. Then it went downhill rapidly. I went here on Sunday. I paid for: Kids Fish & Chips, Small Battered Sausage, Gravy. This all came to £8.00. 2/5 or 4/10 rating. In fairness, if they had changed the oil and it was fresh and not mildly overcooked, it would be a 7/10. The gravy was quite nice, thick.

All chips are gluten free and there is a separate area for gluten free food prep. Definitely be going back to try the gluten free sausages and fish!

Just went in the restaurant part. The room is very small, and noisy. I did not appreciate that they let people who took take away food in the restaurant while we paid double the price to eat in. Prices are expensive for the portion you get, especially the kid cod and chips, 8£ for a very thin dry bit of fish. We paid 30£ for an adult a child, curry sauce and two drinks.I found the food was greasy, it’s been sitting on my stomach since we ate. I will not go back although we are locals, if you go to Folkestone stick to Sandy’s which is delicious

Some may remember the Little Fish Shop more than 30-years ago when it was simply superb. The good news is those days are back; decent portions, beautifully cooked and reasonably priced in a nice, slightly olde-worlde atmosphere, who could ask for more? We had and whole-heartedly recommend the Cod & Chips and the Scampi & Chips. THE place to eat in Sandgate by the sea.

This was once a nice friendly fish and chip shop when I last visited admittedly several years ago. Obviously changed hands and the quality and service is now truly awful. Like a recent reviewer we suffered upset tummy’s that night. As we walked out with our food a couple said “your brave”.

Got a portion of chips, price was competitive at just under £3. The portion size was fare and was served in a polystyrene container which I found better than a rolled up piece of paper. The chips were nicely cooked There is also a small restaurant there but it was closed when I visited. The location on a very narrow street makes parking very difficult and the surrounding streets are double yellow lined. In fairness this didn't seem to deter people as they were busy.

The restaurant whilst not large is very cozy and very comfortable for eating the good quality well served seaside cuisine fitting to the town of folkestone and extended areas by the beach, I was blown away by the service of the young man Kulraj who met my every need, overall I recommend a visit to the little fish and chip shop

I Dont know what has changed - chips no longer the same and the battered sausage was just the worse…. We tried a few times recently but every time it was not as good. maybe a new supplier of food but afraid this one is a no go now.

We enjoy fish and chips as a treat and around once a month at various places. We often order haddock for it's taste and flakiness. You know your getting a good tasty fish. We have eaten at The Little Fish Shop in Sandgate a number of time throughout the years and for most of the time had above average to good experiences. The last time we had a take away from The Little Fish Shop (March 24), we ordered a large haddock and chips. When we left and found somewhere to sit and eat, we found to our surprise, that we were presented with a medium white fish substance that also tasted metallic. It was not a haddock and simply put, it was a cheap white medium sized mushy fish. Once we finished eating most of the chips (which seemed to be reheated), we re-visited the shop and explained that they were not serving haddock. Not only could the shop not identify what we were served, when we presented it back to them, we had an awkward discussion with the chef and were told that (although he could not identify it), he did not see any problems with it. If visiting this fish and chip establishment, taste your cod or haddock and look for large flakes of fish. If it does not taste like it should, or have large flakes that fall away, you will no doubt be having a similar experience to what we had. In reflection, we should have kept the fish and had it examined and reported the matter to trading standards.

Please don't eat in atrocious service.. Order 4 meals for 3 adults 1 child, only 3 meals turned up and no one to speak to just left in the restaurant on your own. Portion sizes were small, one meal was meant to be a large and it was the same size as a medium. Sme number of chips and cod was pretty much the same size. Restaurant was cold. Just a sorry but everyone had finished eating by that point.

Food is ok . Nothing special but definitely not bad. However there are excellent fish and chip shops in Folkestone so this one doesn't come close...We were in the restaurant . It was a cold day and there was no proper heating...The small heater thing didn't make a difference..

Booked a table for 10 on Xmas Eve and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Chips were cooked perfectly and fish was excellent. Well priced beer menu and friendly staff.

Waited 45 minutes after booked delivery time. We are regular customers but not now. Chips were dreadful - greasy remnants of end of shift. Fish was ok but batter greasy. Far below our previous experiences. Thankfully we have another chippy in town - not angel lane as lost faith in standards

Called in on the way home after a long day out as I’d heard they did gluten free. YES! A gluten free cooking zone and delicious batter on fresh cod and proper chip shop chips. Parking is challenging to say the least, but I parked up a side road.

This always used to be a great British chippy with crinkle cut chips back in the day but the last 2 or 3 times I've been in here I've not been impressed, had to ask for my change after they took my money and closed the till, they put vinegar on my chips without asking and I can't stand the stuff so they did give me a fresh portion this time but through most of them away the last time they did it and my savaloy was cold and skin all split so all in all not a very good experience this time hence feeling the need to rite a review. Will I come and try it again well that's arguable and unsure if I will I mite of given some leeway but I was the only one in there !!!!

Delicious cod. Fish & chips is always a treat but rarely remarkably good. Dinner last night was excellent and 3 of us felt it was exceptional.

As usual the fish was cooked to order and was very good in size, quality and freshness. I must admit the chips were a bit tired as though they had been cooked a while and left in the hot compartment for too long.

Disgusting! We ordered 1 jumbo battered sausage and 1 normal jumbo sausage and received a normal jumbo and a small normal sausage… We also ordered 2 cans of drinks which were stolen by the just eat driver apparently. The lady on the end of the phone was rude and argumentative and did not offer to rectify the situation. The food wasn’t very nice either, rubbery chips and tasteless sausage. Never ordered again!

This has always been a very good quality fish and chip shop/restaurant which we visit about 5 or 6 times a year, this week we were disappointed to note that their high standards have dropped. Though the quantity was provided the quality wasn't. Regrettably the fish and the chips tasted as though they had been fried in oil that was long overdue for a change. The tang and aftertaste was not too pleasant. There were different staff attending so maybe it has changed hands and not such stringent attention is given to the basics, the cost of fresh oil should not be an excuse as the cost of the portions has of course increased significantly. I hope it has returned to a higher standard for our next visit, otherwise we shall go elsewhere.

Really enjoyed our gluten free cod and chips this evening. Cooked in a separate fryer to avoid cross contamination and clearly marked on boxes. Was shown the ingredient list for the gluten free batter. Batter was crispy, a little thin but tasty and chips were lovely too. Definitely will return.

Freshly cooked fish and chips provided by this establishment. We have been critical in the past but it has returned to it's very high standard. The front of house young man was excellent and the fish and chips superb. Very good value.

A lovely lunch time treat eaten in the restaurant. Cod was cooked perfectly, and the chips too. Really friendly and helpful staff. Menu was varied too with lots of traditional puddings. Will definitely return when next in the area.

First try of this fish shop for a period of time due to poor food in the past; however this visit was an improvement. Fish cooked while I waited & was beautiful. Chips could have been hotter. Felt they'd been on the shelf a while, but will try again. Difficult finding parking nearby, but a little walk never hurt anyone now did it.
