Chunky Cod and chips cooked fresh to order was crispy and delicious. Staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of seating inside or takeaway service. Definitely worth a try.

We ate in and it was excellent food and excellent service, but most of all good value for money. Now need to fill up to a hundred characters

Have eaten in twice during the past 9 months (ie 2023 into Jan 23). Both times in the late afternoon on our way home from visiting family. The cafe was quiet with few other diners in sight. We ordered cod and chips (with mushies for me too) and tea. The fish was a good size, looked fresh and tasted delicious on both occasions. The chips were enjoyable too, cooked just right with what seemed fresh oil. It wasn't cheap but prices have been going crazy since Brexit and in that context is felt like fair value for the money. Service was fine too. Maybe the place has changed hands? What we experienced is worlds away from some of the experiences people have had on the past. I hope the quality we enjoyed is maintained without above inflation price increases.

This was terrible. Chips were the worst I’ve ever had, would fin better in a freezer. My saveloy sausage was brown which I’ve never had before. Disgusting scammers

Rock and chips are amazing and even better with the lovely bread rolls they sell.

The chips have a taste of really old and used chip oil. Not a very nice taste at all. Wouldnt recommend and will never return.

Always like it here when I visit with my family. Good prices as well which is surprising considering its right by the sea front. The food is good quality as well

Undercooked chips and all I can say is several hours after eating the fish I lost a few lbs in weight. (No one else in our group ate the fish) The place isn't particularly clean either and FYI they cook in Peanut oil which isn't signposted in my opinion clearly enough.

Best fish n chips in folkestone

Had large chips which looked unappealing as they had no colour and were barely cooked as they were rushed out to waiting customers, the quality of the potatoes was really bad, you would struggle to find a chip that didn't have a black rotten bit on it which you had to constantly break off.

What a dissappintment,cod and chips take away £10 per portion. The chips were undercooked and cold, as though they had been hanging about for a couple of hours, the batter on the fish was soggy and not hot as it was supposidly freshly cooked a real let down.

One of the worst places ever! the staff were extremely rude especially the young girl on the counter, we were told we couldn't eat in even if we didn't use plates and cutlery. they didn't ask or offer salt and vinegar and the food was small portions and flavorless.

So mixed past reviews. Usual place closed so ventured into Folkestone and tried the Harbour Fish bar. Jumbo Sausage and chips twice. Hot and tasty with VERY polite service by a young lady 10/10. Witnessed a kind gesture too towards a Hungry Ex Serviceman. Much credit to the owner. We will be back.

Just in Folkestone for one night. Popped in here for a fish and chip supper. Have to say it is the best fish and chips ever. Fresh and lightly fried, very tasty, excellent. I would show a picture, but too late, all gone! Delicious.

Visited for our fish and chip dinner with my wife and 4 year old. My wife and I had fish chips and curry sauce and a battered sausage for my daughter with a few of our chips. We all had plenty and was nice.

Service was slow, food wasn't great, they limited ketchup and the place was quite run down. It might be that we went during a bad time but even so they should advise people there would be a delay.

No sugar or spoon given with coffee. Sausage in batter overcooked. When mentioned to them all they said was "sorry about that"

Living in Folkestone I can tell you this place is probably the worst and most overpriced fish and chips in town. Convenient when walking along the leas. Very unfriendly staff. Who stare at a customer blankly when they ask for water then direct them to buy it from the fridge. They messed up my order and I waited ages even though I was number 2 in the queue. 3 and 4 served before me and I was a simple order. Rude staff. Charge a lot for very little and service definitely does not come with a smile. Also it has a very greasy spoon vibe in there. Decor not updated in decades I imagine. Not sure what warrants their high prices. Maybe it’s the location. Next to the stunning icon. The Grand Burston. I’d avoid if you can. It’s a trap.

Ordered sausage & chips, was not cooked properly (still cold and hard) as they charged £7 for them we returned … they argued that they were cooked and refused to do anything, after pushing they took the tray from us and threw everything back into the same fryer … when he saw the shock on our face he told us nothing to worry, the temperature will kill any bacteria so it’s safe …. This prompted us to look behind the counter only to find it was DISGUSTING& FILTHY… we will be reporting to the council to avoid anyone getting ill …. There are so many other nice, clean takeaways and restaurants in the area we would recommend avoiding this one at all costs!!

Got 3 small sausages an 4 chips an an 2 large battered sausages an come up to £29 then wants extra for sauce when eating in, battered sausages were not nice an there batter was soggy won't be going back here

Food is cooked in peanut oil and they didn't allow our friend who is allergic to come back with other fish and eat with us.

Loved it here, well priced and staff were friendly. Good size portions and seemed to be clean and hygienic.

had a lovely meal yesterday here and the service was very nice and friendly, all was going well intill the rude gentleman came close to knocking me off my chair as he passed ( did not apologise) and sat there thinging he owned the place, he was very rude to the kind young lady who served him i could clearly see she did nothing wrong poor girl hopefully the gentleman dont come back as you dont need rude customers like that, apart from that the bar is very nice and friendly i always visit and the service is always top notch 5 star.

Came here on August 17th for my favourite chip shop go to Rock and chips with a buttered roll . Served in good time and really enjoyable and tasty.

Everything. EVERYTHING about this experience was bad. But the worst was the actual fish and chips. They managed to overcook the fish but undercook the batter. The fish was discoulered and was not cod as advertised. Unless you are starving and everywhere is closed. No not even then. It's too bad. Eat some sand or something

Bought a small bottle of water as a take away cost £1.50 bit on expensive side, but go with that, but when I asked for a small plastic cup cost went up an extra 30p........

I couldn't believe the prices! & 11 for a small fish, cod, and chips! It was cooked fresh to order. Place looked clean. Radio in background was not tuned right and was very annoying while you're trying to enjoy your food.

If you ignore the run down area this gem of a chip shop was more than I would have expected. Courteous and helpful not to mention how fresh the food was. Definitely a go to takeaway. Hope the area will gain some regeneration in the near future.

Awful food. Ordered small chips, small sausage and a can £5.50! Chips were dry and tasteless. Sausage was just disgusting mush in the middle. Binned the lot. Seemed very unprofessional.

We tried to come here for fish and chips but eventually left without ordering. There was no one else waiting to order when we arrived, 4 members of staff who ignored us and every time we tried to order we were told 2 minutes. We waited 20 mins and left after they then decided to serve a family who arrived after us.

Cheapest possible sausage, inedible and grey inside. My friend had plaice and chips, arrived in thick soggy batter, dripping with oil. Overpriced and not edible. Disgusting

An interesting experience, went with my mother as she used to remember going there as a child and had fond memories, I also remember her taking me when I was a kid, always loved it, different owners now of course, cod and chips is £11, pictured is what I got, dunno whether it's me being greedy but this kinda looks like half a portion? Or at the very least not cod. Batter on fish was not crispy but chips and curry sauce were lovely, staff were also fine. For the price I'd say it wasn't worth it, something like this should be around £7.50 IMO. Would love to give this place a higher review to support it but it isn't the same as it once was. 2.85/5

Really surprised but the cod and chips were fab. Freshly cooked to order.

Decided to take my mum for a quick bite in there as she used to visit years ago, and she has some fond memories from her old days. Big mistake that was. On entering I wasn't particularly optimistic, there were a few tables with customers leftovers on, the remaining customers weren't looking very thrilled, most were poking at their food rather than eating it. Our experience was quite awful truth be told. Considering the place was maybe a little under steady in terms of customers we had an almost 20 minute wait for our food. When it did eventually arrive it certainly didn't add to the experience. It was dry, bland and half overcooked The staff were sullen and irritable almost to point of seeming angry at the fact they had to be there and serve customers. I was quite put off going to the counter to purchase another drink. In the roughly 45 minutes I was there I didn't see a single table cleaned or old plates/food taken away. All in all I'd definitely give this place a miss. There are far happier and potentially cleaner places in Folkestone to visit.

Amazing fish and chips, definitely worth a visit

Waited 40mins for food but customers were coming in ordering food & was getting it before we had got our food , the girls behind counter just stood around talking & then 1 of the went for a fag & as she walked out she put her hand down the back of her black leggings & fiddled with her bum ! Hopefully she washed her hands before she went back to serving !! When we did eventually get out food it really wasn't worth the £40 that it cost ! 3x battered sausage & chips , child's meal & rock & chips which was more batter than anything else, ! Definitely won't be going back there again !!

Though the view out is uninspiring, the fish and chips more than made up for it. Not at all greasy, lovely chips and lovely crispy batter on the fish. Yum!
