Nice food. Clean place. Friendly staff

Keep in mind coming here was not peak season for a seaside town more of freezing cold half term in February, which seems like good idea to burn of some energy. So decided to grab some chippies for myself and my girls. Me thinking a large chips do my girl... I didn't think chips out do my girls🤣 that being said the chips were fresh considering how quiet it was would not expect that, fantastic lil restaurant worth checking out,

Uncomplicated place for a good fish & chips. Nice large portions.

The best fish and chips I’ve had in a very long time. Don’t expect it to feel like a Michelin Star restaurant because it has a 5 star food review, but fish is fresh and super tasty, food is not greasy and the staff are amazingly friendly.

We've tried most of the fish bars in folkestone, ( including sandys) but have found this to be the best, the home made chips are perfect & the cod is cooked just right,not to much batter like 'sandys', just 5 star

The food was very nice, we really liked the curry sauce. Seevice was nice and the owner was very friendly. Unfortunately, late evening was unable to eat in, but this was OK. However, we feel it is a missed opportunity for them even if people only sit in there eating out of the paper and boxes, it shows they are busy and would definitely draw more people in for them in the evenings. When we were in there waiting, quite a few people and families came in shows they are popular and had a nice atmosphere when we were all waiting for our food 😀

We bought cod and chips from here to takeaway. The fish was good, freshly cooked and piping hot. The chips however were almost cold and and not at all tasty. I think they must of been cooked earlier and then served with the fish. The young lady that was serving was nice but the place had no atmosphere.

Just had fish and chips with my wife at this restaurant. Staff were freindly and provided a quick service. The food was delicious and I will be returning with my whole family. Highly recommended.

Fish and batter quality not good didnot enjoy

Food was great. Service with a smile. But some of the other punters left a lot to be desired!

Disappointingly short on chips for £3.50, didn't even cover the bottom of the box considering it's the cheapest thing on the order to bulk up the meal. Good few youngsters working who might want to re-think if they'd like to be in a customer facing role, but was tasty food, apart from being very little for the price.

I purchased two portions of large chips on Sunday around noon, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. While the £5 price per portion was a bit steep, that wasn't the main issue. The chips tasted bad and had an off-putting smell. I'm not sure if it was due to old or poor-quality oil, or perhaps just bad potatoes, but the result was inedible. Sadly, the entire order ended up in the bin because we couldn't eat it.

Quite a queue of people which was good news because we had all been given a number that we were told would be called out when our meal was ready. Staff very friendly and quick on their toes, keeping us updated on the progress of our order. Piping hot, generous portions. Very busy shop for most of the day and night, a testament to the quality of food from this vendor. Will be going back there when I visit Folkestone next August. Keep it up!

decent enough chips but this place doesn’t allow you to put your own vinegar on the chips, this is totally unacceptable and i will not support a place that’s going to argue over 0.01pence worth of product.

Went here for dinner after coming to the beach for the evening safe to say will never be returning! The food itself was awful not cooked properly soggy and slimey quietly spoke to the owner and asked for a re fund he then proceed to by very up tight and refused to refund even tho he could see the food quality was shocking! The whole restaurant was dirty dusty and dropped food dirt etc all over the floor. The cooks was touching raw meet and fish then touching cooked food to place in the warmer never again will we be returning. Will always go to the other fish and chip shop down the road now no customer service or any decent food!

Absolutely shocking service, felt so unwelcomed and felt like an inconvenience rather than a customer, chips weren't salted or vinegared and the offer wasnt there. All sauces even the little satches of ketchup were not free and unfairly expensive. From when we stepped into the shop to when we left (for takeway) took 25 minutes.Definetly just go down the road to the other fish and chips place which is cheaper as well

Fish and chips don't come much better than this. Clean tables and friendly staff, and excellent food cooked to perfection. There are a few good chips shops in Folkestone but this is by far the greatest. We travel from Hastings to enjoy Folkestone and usually eat here.

Went here today with my 4 grandchildren & nephew. They were absolutely fantastic & patient, the lady that served us was absolutely lovely. Will definitely be going back soon 😊

Wasn't very busy staff didn't seem interested and didn't seem to know what they where doing. And the chips where very under cooked

Have eaten in twice during the past 9 months (ie 2023 into Jan 23). Both times in the late afternoon on our way home from visiting family. The cafe was quiet with few other diners in sight. We ordered cod and chips (with mushies for me too) and tea. The fish was a good size, looked fresh and tasted delicious on both occasions. The chips were enjoyable too, cooked just right with what seemed fresh oil. It wasn't cheap but prices have been going crazy since Brexit and in that context is felt like fair value for the money. Service was fine too. Maybe the place has changed hands? What we experienced is worlds away from some of the experiences people have had on the past. I hope the quality we enjoyed is maintained without above inflation price increases.

The delivery time kept changing. It went from 17:45-18:05 then finally turned up at nearly 19:00. The food was cold and the haddock we ordered was small and looked like a piece of frozen fish, not freshly cooked!! Really disappointed having eaten in the restaurant and ordered from here before. Never again!!

Habour Fish Bar used to be superb whats happened? Fish (Cod) had skin left on it, the batter was tough and heavy? Chips were almost cold and potatoes not peeled properly?

Rock and chips are amazing and even better with the lovely bread rolls they sell.

The chips have a taste of really old and used chip oil. Not a very nice taste at all. Wouldnt recommend and will never return.

Honestly the best fish and chips we've had in a long time (well since we last ordered from here!) Delivered on time and piping hot.

Undercooked chips and all I can say is several hours after eating the fish I lost a few lbs in weight. (No one else in our group ate the fish) The place isn't particularly clean either and FYI they cook in Peanut oil which isn't signposted in my opinion clearly enough.

the pie was absolutely inedible my husband could not eat it, rock hard and a funny taste.my saveloy was cold and tasted watery, I was absolutely disappointed at this fish bar as it is usually spot on, for five pound a pie and three fifty for the saveloy I would of expected better from them.

Best fish n chips in folkestone

Had large chips which looked unappealing as they had no colour and were barely cooked as they were rushed out to waiting customers, the quality of the potatoes was really bad, you would struggle to find a chip that didn't have a black rotten bit on it which you had to constantly break off.

What a dissappintment,cod and chips take away £10 per portion. The chips were undercooked and cold, as though they had been hanging about for a couple of hours, the batter on the fish was soggy and not hot as it was supposidly freshly cooked a real let down.

One of the worst places ever! the staff were extremely rude especially the young girl on the counter, we were told we couldn't eat in even if we didn't use plates and cutlery. they didn't ask or offer salt and vinegar and the food was small portions and flavorless.

So mixed past reviews. Usual place closed so ventured into Folkestone and tried the Harbour Fish bar. Jumbo Sausage and chips twice. Hot and tasty with VERY polite service by a young lady 10/10. Witnessed a kind gesture too towards a Hungry Ex Serviceman. Much credit to the owner. We will be back.

Just in Folkestone for one night. Popped in here for a fish and chip supper. Have to say it is the best fish and chips ever. Fresh and lightly fried, very tasty, excellent. I would show a picture, but too late, all gone! Delicious.

Visited for our fish and chip dinner with my wife and 4 year old. My wife and I had fish chips and curry sauce and a battered sausage for my daughter with a few of our chips. We all had plenty and was nice.

Classic seaside fish & chips shop. Great food and customer service.

Service was slow, food wasn't great, they limited ketchup and the place was quite run down. It might be that we went during a bad time but even so they should advise people there would be a delay.

No sugar or spoon given with coffee. Sausage in batter overcooked. When mentioned to them all they said was "sorry about that"

Living in Folkestone I can tell you this place is probably the worst and most overpriced fish and chips in town. Convenient when walking along the leas. Very unfriendly staff. Who stare at a customer blankly when they ask for water then direct them to buy it from the fridge. They messed up my order and I waited ages even though I was number 2 in the queue. 3 and 4 served before me and I was a simple order. Rude staff. Charge a lot for very little and service definitely does not come with a smile. Also it has a very greasy spoon vibe in there. Decor not updated in decades I imagine. Not sure what warrants their high prices. Maybe it’s the location. Next to the stunning icon. The Grand Burston. I’d avoid if you can. It’s a trap.
