Used to be a favourite pub. Not been since recent change of ownership. Enjoyed sitting in sun today with lovely view. Service from staff member doing her best on her own was good but food was very disappointing. Presentation was lack lustre with dry piece ofchicken just plonked on the plate with some unappetising looking brown leeks and a pile of mediocre daphonise potatoes. Tasted better than it looked but certainly not worth £17.50. Reluctant to return. Great shame as used to enjoy food here.

Despite the picturesque location near Mercers lakes and the indisputable charm of the pub, our experience was far from great. On my way to the ladies’ restroom, what I believe was a curtain bar, near one of the stairs, fell off and slammed on my baby’s stroller. Luckily, my baby was unharmed as the stroller took the hit. The young waiter that works there saw what happened and said ‘it happens all the time, it’s a design issue’. I was shocked by the safety negligence and the staff’s dismissive response. Food - mediocre at best. We ordered a beef burger which was quite dry. Service - disappointing. We politely asked the waitresses for cutlery after she served our food to which she responded that we can find it inside near the door. The place was not crowded either, so we should not be expected to get up and bring it ourselves. Overall, I would not recommend this place and we certainly won’t be back.

Don't go here for lunch if you're expecting the choice of food as shown online. The menus shown on line are apparently their "winter menus" and all you can actually get is sandwiches, baguettes, fish and chips or 4 different types of burger. No starters of any description and none of the other meals listed on line. The service wasn't much better than the rubbish choice of food. Certainly won't be going back and I wouldn't recommend this pub to anybody for a visit unless you like fish and chips which was, apparently, quite tasty which is more than can be said for the burger.

Having been to the Inn on the Pond on several occasions as it is near to our son's house, we visited once again. However, we were so disappointed. The menu has massively shrunk and then some choices were not available. Apparently the pub has changed hands, which has not improved things at all. To add to our disappointment with the food options, when we had finished our main course and were selecting desserts, we were told that the kitchen had shut! In all the years we've been eating out, and working in the restaurant business, we had never been told the kitchen had closed half way through our meal! The chef did agree to 'do us a favour this once' and offered again a reduced selection. I cannot see us ever choosing to revisit the Inn on the Pond for a meal again, which is such a shame as it was our 'go to place'. We can only hope that others leave similar reviews and that things change for the better! 🤞

Should have paid attention to the latest reviews. Poor customer service. I'm very understanding of slow service due to staff issues if I'm provided an explanation in advance as it allows me to still make a choice. Serving lunch an hour after its ordered is poor. Even worse, one dish of the three arrived 15 minutes before so one party was finished with lunch before the others commenced. No apologies forthcoming until we complained. This after one table already demanded a full refund for a late food order with another table making a similar compliant. The situation could have been avoided with better customer attention.

Oh Dear! What a difference 2 weeks can make. 😌 My daughter (who lives in Farringdon), and I, visited on 21st April and had a lovely meal in a very pleasant environment. Fantastic, we thought, somewhere lovely that we can get to easily from Merstham station, and it accommodates dogs. So, when my daughter and her partner came for a visit on Friday 3rd May, we rushed to get there in plenty of time (kitchen closes at 20.00), and arrived at 19.15 having already read the menu and having decided on our meals. Unfortunately this was a completely different dining experience. No-one came to take our drinks order so we had to go looking for a member of staff. We found the staff having a very sociable time - with each other- but with no-one engaging with the customers to ensure all was in order. Our waiter was lovely but clearly inexperienced and getting absolutely no support from the 'team'. Two of our mains were incorrect, and after a 20 minute wait for the missing portions of chips, we decided that we wouldn't bother because we had eaten the rest of the meal. Our desserts were very obviously micro-waved - not a problem - but were delivered to our table in stages, and the final plate of sticky toffee pudding was returned because it was cold. Desserts that had been specifically ordered with custard were delivered with ice cream. 😕 It was now 21.15 and so we decided not to push our luck and didn't have coffees. When my husband, and then my daughter, approached what appeared to be a more senior member of staff, his response to their concerns was blasé and very unsupportive of his team - throwing the chef and the waiter under the proverbial bus, in front of customers, is not the best way to manage a customer service situation. We alluded to Fawlty Towers all evening, and fully expected Manuel from Barcelona to show up, but after a while the farcical humour of the situation wore very thin and spoiled our family get-together. Such a shame - but we'll definitely be swerving this 'restaurant' (unless the owners take control of the situation and engage in a very robust training session with the staff).

I am a 64 year old male and have never done a review in my entire lifetime, I always thought people that gave negative feedback were just whingers. We were a group of 9 adults and 3 young children, it was Easter Sunday and had booked a table and pre-ordered our food several days before, for 1 pm. ( That's the good bit done) We waited and waited , asking several times if the meals were on the way, the children getting hungry! We were finally served at 5 to 3 nearly 2 hours later , the plates were stone cold and one meal consisted of a burger and 6 small chips, the food itself was passable, though after waiting so long we would have eaten anything! When we finally got the bill we were overcharged £34 for two extra chicken roasts that were never ordered, or received, we had to go through the whole receipt saying what we had individually had, eventually they could see that it was their mistake, but we're not offered an apology ( make sure if you are in a large group to check the bill before paying) , I don't think we will be going back!!

When we mentioned this to the young gentleman, he asked did we want to speak to the chief which we said yes, however when he came back he said the chef was too busy to speak to us. The unbelievable bit was that there was only one other table of a couple that had already walked out after complaining about the food!! So we have just visited the inn, we are local and are very pleased this has been taken over and not made into an alternative establishment. Visited here with my husband and son, service good, lovely polite young man, didn’t catch his name but he was good, friendly and attentive. Food, starters, we ordered all 3, pate, nice, served with a chutney and small side salad (not enough bread, asked for more) chicken wings, lovely, and salt and pepper calamari, fresh and tasty. Main courses, hubby and I ordered the roasts, me beef, him the 3 roast option, son, fish and chips…..Course arrived swimming in gravy, looked ok, one large whole parsnip and carrot roasted, 5 large roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, cabbage/broccoli/green beans underneath two huge slices of beef. It actually looked quite appealing, but meat was so chewy only got through one slice, ate the greens and a bit of the potatoes, but gravy was cold and very gloopy, such a shame was really looking forward to a nice meal. May have been better to give the gravy on the side. No Sauces offered. I had to ask for horseradish. My husband wasn’t offered, Apple sauce/mint sauce or horseradish for his 3 option roast! Whole meal was cold..ordered wine, wasn’t offered any wine list so had to ask. My son said the fish was dry and over cooked….A real shame. We didn’t complain as it’s very early days for them, but I hope they read this review and take note. Of course we will be back, it’s our local!

Not one to usually complain, just felt I had too. We went here for lunch 1/11/23. I ordered the chicken salad, I had to send it back as the lettuce was brown, it looked disgusting. The waitress said that it was the sauce from the chicken ! the chicken had actually been grilled and did not come with a sauce. I also requested not to have the dressing, yet when it arrived the dressing was all over the salad The waitress took the plate of food back to the kitchen and retuned to the table stating the chef said it had oxidized!! it was clearly rotten. My sister ordered the fish and chips that also was returned to the kitchen, the batter was soft and not at all nice. The waitress did ask if I would anything else to eat. I declined as unfortunately the other options came with salad or chips. Why would I order salad again which was clearly inedible. We asked for the bill, however, when the waitress bought it over it read £35 minus my £12.50 salad, no actual total was on the sheet of paper, not really a bill at all, she went away and provided a itemised hand written bill on the till roll. Apparently, the pub has recently changed management. We will not be returning and would not recommend.

My daughter ordered an alcohol drink and I noticed there was something black floating in it. On closer inspection it turned out to be a dead fly. I spoke to a member of staff, who did apologise, but said she forgot to check the bottles like they are supposed to do. We were a party of 8 so did spend quite a substantial amount of money. The staff were very friendly and the food was nice enough but a very limited menu. From reading the reviews I understand it has recently been taken over so maybe this is just a blip.

A great stopover on our return from France, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. A place we will go back to on future trips.

New people running it who don't really seem to know what they're doing. We gave up waiting and walked to Merstham as we decided it would be quicker.

I don’t usually go drinking outside of Reigate, however I’m sure to make Inn on The Pond a more regular pub in my rotation. Good selection of lagers, although I’ll be hard pushed to go anything other than San Miguel. The pizza was fantastic and...

Fantastic little pub with lots of walking or cycling routes nearby. Stayed overnight in our motorhome on the level car park with 4 other vans. Food and service was excellent and very reasonably priced. Definitely on our list to return to in the future

Spent £48 in total for two people and was really disappointed, food was same as you would find in a cheap burger joint and took half an hour to come. Asked for triple cooked chips and wasn’t given them but still charged! Pub was empty at 7pm on a Friday night and service was still slow. Really sad as it was meant to be a date night and has spoiled the whole experience. If you’re going to charge £16 for a burger it has to include cheese and at least be better than a burger van.

Great pub with friendly staff and a banging Sunday roast. Bit on the expensive side but we were allowed to stay over in the van in the car park so it made up for the cost.

We got the serving times wrong and arrived late for lunch. The staff went out of their way and served us anyway. The food and drinks were utterly delicious! A very relaxing and friendly atmosphere with great music too. Thanks!!

A warm welcome awaits. This is still a locals pub with food available. Very friendly, good atmosphere and lots of events. October beer fest coming up, look forward to a bit more Shakespeare next year. Panto this Christmas and A Christmas Carol
