A Well cooked meal, hot and well presented. The Ibex is situated in Chaddleworth, a pretty village in West Berkshire, about 7 miles North of Newbury. A good chef.

Visited with my family. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. The red wine we had was very nice and a great temperature. Also other members of our party enjoyed the Thatchers haze. The steak was very good. Gluten free options seems to be leaving out things, like no bun with the burger, no brandy basket with the ice-cream. Ice-cream being the only gluten free options but it was really nice. I had the chicken in a sauce,it was delicious but needed something to mop up the sauce, like bread. I would eat there again.

We have been going to Ibex for the last 8 years and food has always been excellent, from lunch, dinner, roast to festive menu. Staff is very friendly and accommodating for kids and dietary requirements. We always look forward to eating there. Always go for a 3 course meal and as hungry as possible to make sure we have enough space for the generous portions.

We ordered a takeaway lunch from the Ibex recently. We thoroughly enjoyed the roast beef and roast chicken. The meat, vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and gravy were very fresh and beautifully cooked. We also had a couple of desserts to share that came with small pots of ice cream - very good. Really nice people running the pub and we will definitely be back for more! We can’t wait for the pub to reopen properly again.

We went for a mid-week lunch. The pub looked great but were surprised to have to tread over cigarette butts on the door steps down into the front door. Inside the pub is lovely inside and the bar staff were welcoming. We decided to sit in the garden, however, after treading in it we noticed dogs muck all over the grass. Also ash trays were left around full of cigarette butts again. The food came and my wife was disappointed with the salad as it felt like if hadn't been washed properly. I had the sausage and onion sandwich which fine (only it could have been improved by serving it in thick hand cut bread or something). So in summary its a lovely looking pub inside and out but the owners need to concentrate on cleaning up after the smokers and the dogs that roam the garden before the public come in for lunch.

My family and I came here for lunch a few weeks ago and left feeling disappointed. At first, we tried to sit outside as it was a lovely warm day but there was piles of dog poo in the grass and loads of wasps. Inside the pub there were so many flies but decided rather than travel somewhere else as we were short on time, we’d stay. The food was poor quality and overpriced. The salad with my jacket potato came covered in a salad dressing. There was no mention of salad dressing on the menu so I couldn’t eat it as I dislike dressing. Food was very bland. The only positive was the service was ok.

Have eaten here several times and have had Sunday lunches, lunchtime and evening meals here. Everything has great, the food arrives hot and well prepared and presented. Most recently I took my teenage children who were happy at the generous portions and good wifi access but said the halloumi bites were delicious (as were the meatball starters). Main courses were great and the staff were happy to modify the dishes to the suit my son's taste. Although we were very full it was so yummy we had pudding too. Service was polite, friendly and unrushed - we felt very welcome. Also if you're walker or have a dog you are very welcome in the Ibex with muddy boots and paws!

Feeling guilty that we’d not visited for ages we chose today when they were awaiting deliveries due to a sell-out over Christmas! However, a very warm welcome was followed by fantastic sandwiches and a couple of soft drinks (which we’d have ordered even if beer had been available). Top quality pub food and we want to try a Sunday lunch (despite the recent review I’ve just seen) as the impression is that this will be good home cooking and great value.

They could not have been more welcoming and friendly, so score highly on that front, and there is a good selection of beer and an even better selection of interesting soft drinks, which is also a significant plus point. However, we were there for Sunday lunch and all six of us thought our food was poor. Basically, everything was overcooked. Small leathery bits of fish in the middle of the batter for those who had fish and chips, and dry tasteless slabs of meat for the roast. I could not have distinguished pork from turkey with my eyes shut. Roast potatoes were fragments of white in a hard oily dark brown shell and green beans were wrinkly flaccid strips of mush. If somebody had told me it was all reheated from the day before I would have believed them. Apparently there was some sort of village party the night before so maybe we hit an off day.

I've been arranging or joining occasional runs/walks in the countryside between Peasemore and Lambourn, in the delightful Berkshire countryside north-west of the M4/Newbury, over the last few years, and when I started The Ibex was closed. So it's a pleasure to know it's open again - sadly The Stag in Leckhampstead has gone the other way - and offering good value food alongside its beers and other drinks. Our group had a most enjoyable lunch in the sunny garden after today's 'ramble', and full marks to the Ibex team for getting over twenty orders out in quick succession, so nobody had finished before others started eating!

A reborn village pub is a wonderful thing. A good reborn village pub is a rare and wonderful thing. Fortunately, the Ibex is exactly that. You know what I mean: nowadays pubs need their food trade to survive. Sometimes that means you pop in to a place for a pint or two and then get glowered at when you decline the menu. Sometimes your dinner is spoiled by the noise of giant screen Sky TV football watchers swearing away. The Ibex gets it exactly right; civilised without being, well, ‘too-fancy-pants’ (TripAdvisor vetoed my original phrase there). It’s a great place for a few pints. Cracking beer too, the Indigenous Brewery is in the village. It’s also a very (very) good place to eat.

We are a local family of four who have dined here previously and despite some of the reviews on here, enjoyed our meal at our newly reopened pub very much. Very pleased to see our pub refurbished and reopened. A warm welcome is provided by the new landlords, Patrick and Stuart, they have embraced this new venture with a mission to provide us with a good pub that serves great pub food.. And so we were especially excited by the new chef's arrival. Having perused the menu over a G&T; (from a large selection of gins) while my partner chose a pint of local ale ( from the village's own microbrewery!), we selected a variety of starters from crayfish and salmon to duck pate or even KFC'd frogs legs. (a quirky choice which proved a winner). These were served in good time and proved to be very tasty. Both children, who are fussy eaters, selected pulled pork burgers while my partner and I were seduced by ribeye steaks with a pepper sauce, vine tomatoes, mushroom and chips. I am particularly difficult to please when it comes to steak but was very impressed and found my main course to be delicious. Topped off with a bottle of Pinot Noir and the chef's divine lemon cheesecake we were very impressed with our meal and will definitely come back! Highly recommended

Service was so slow which considering the pub was quiet there was no excuse for and the food was pretty awful. Sausages that tasted like they had been reheated and like cardboard, I'm not sure there was any meat in them. Supermarket plastic sausages! Seasonal veg that consisted of broccoli and three peas! The Ibex has recently reopened. It has been newly refurbished throughout. A beautiful pub in a pretty village. Good food, nicely presented by polite friendly staff. Chaddleworth is a good walking area. It also has an historic church, St Andrew's, mentioned in The Doomsday Book of records and well worth a visit.

Lovely cooked breakfast, great that you can select exactly which items you want as I personally hate beans and hash browns on a breakfast, so could easily avoid those and have extra mushrooms and tomatoes! Service was efficient, the breakfast was freshly cooked to order. It wasn’t overly greasy and was piping hot. Very much enjoyed. Giving 4 stars only because the cutlery is absolutely terrible to use! Knife blunt and uncomfortable to hold (jabs into hands), and as the bacon was slightly overdone (I don’t mind, I prefer it this way that the other) the knife was useless for cutting through it which was a tad annoying. This said, if passing through Lambourn again would absolutely return. Many thanks.

The little skewers were nice. The lemon sole and ravioli special were satisfyinf and tasty dishes, but the mackeral was very ordinary and the crab souufle was disappointingly small. The menu offers mackeral with aubergines, but the amount of aubergines was derisory. The crab accompaniment of leeks was a thimblefull, and one should request a magnifying glass to find the tomatoes with the potatoes. The worst was the cider - we ordered half pints and got tiny portions in wine glasses. My guest is a member of the gourmet Food Writers' Guild and even she was surprised by the meanness. The service was OK, but not worth the fixed charge of 12.5%.

I had high expectations for this restaurant due to its Michelin star and excellent TripAdvisor reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing. The most serious issue was the staff's handling of my severe tree nut allergy. Despite explicitly informing our waiter about my cashew allergy, he served cashews to our table during drinks before dinner. The mere presence of the nuts caused my eyes to become itchy, though thankfully I didn't have a more serious reaction. The food quality itself was questionable. The gravy served with the roast had an unusual, unpleasant taste. The restroom facilities were also poorly maintained, according to my husband. Given the premium price point of £180+, the overall experience was extremely poor value for money. The combination of potentially dangerous allergy handling, questionable food quality, and poor hygiene standards means I won't be returning.
