Had my mums 50th birthday party here on the 20th of September, the staff were so helpful on setting up the venue and the buffet was fine beautiful, staff entertained with karaoke and music and was amazing with the children who were at the party also, would definitely recommend, great pub with lovely atmosphere ☺️

I came here today for lunch with family as I live locally. Supporting local buisness, I am saddened by recent defamatory reviews left. The pub is always clean, the food is always amazing and staff have always held themselves professionally and friendly. I would highly recommend and please do consider trolls and uneducated people with nothing better to do than attempt to ruin a small business.

We chose this pub because of the reviews on Tripadvisor. The pub itself had never looked appealing from the outside but we thought we’d give it a try. We’d booked, although no one responded to my voice message so I had to phone again the next day. Our table was not laid up ready for us. Service was very friendly but amateur, ie, the cutlery was dumped on the table for us to sort out at each course, and plates were passed down to the end of the table afterwards so the waitress could stack them. Food was ok and service quick: Sunday lunch - very big portions, prices £28 for 3 courses. Our pork was good but son’s beef very tough. The pub needs an Alex Polizi: it was untidy: we sat looking at boxes of stores throughout the meal. Plastic flowers. Toilets poor, not clean, garden uncared for, lots of weeds, and unkempt. Have to say we won’t be back when there are plenty of good pubs in the area.

We opted for the steak meals on their grill night and it was absolutely amazing. The steaks were cooked to perfection (not always the case for medium rare!) and every single thing on the plate was fresh and very tasty. In fact it was the best steak meal we've eaten out for a very long time. Highly recommend

Had a lovely traditional Sunday roast here with our son and his family, who live in Preston. The food was really delicious and the price was very good. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We regularly have Sunday lunches back home in Wales and would rate this lunch very highly. We will certainly return during our next visit to our son, whether it be for another Sunday lunch or evening meal. Please support your local pub - use it or lose it!

Spontaneous Friday evening meal. Opted for salmon, with prawn with spinach and creamy mash from the specials menu went down a treat truly delicious. The starter I had scotch egg which was talk of the village originally so had to try and it didn't disappoint, Nice portion sizes also was too full after starter and mains. To try the desert.

Had the jerk chicken wings lamb roast dinner and banoffe sundae😍 absolutely amazing! Lovely waitress Sophie, and amazing atmosphere ! Thankyou for a lovely Easter 🐣 x

Visited our local village pub for Sunday lunch today. What a fab meal we had. The pub was buzzing and the food smells as we walked up the front steps, made our mouths water. Both our meals didn't disappoint. We had the prawn cocktail and garlic mushroom starters followed by the lamb and pork roasts. My only regret was that I couldn't finish it all. From the meat to the gravy, the Yorkshire puddings and roasties were all delicious as was the cauli cheese. We'll be back. Thank you Dean and Kelly.......and of course Will!!

Met friends today for lunch and was not disappointed. First visit for food since the new chef started and it was worth the trip. Starters were lovely, followed by a beautiful Sunday roast. The service was good as was the atmosphere in the bar! We will be back very soon.

We have just had Sunday lunch. Four of us, one had lamb, one had pork belly, one had beef and one had chicken. It was all amazing. Well cooked very tasty. The staff were very attentive and polite. Will definitely visit again. We are looking forward to the Grill Night on Tuesday as the menu looks amazing. Thank you

Great family pub with a new food menu, which we tried tonight for the first and certainly not the last time. Scotch egg starter, steak and ribs for main and home made cheesecake for dessert 👌🏻 very happy customers look forward to returning soon.

New menu, new chef Mixed starter for 2, delicious and plentiful. Fish & chips, spot on. Sea bass, beautiful. Parmesan crusted chicken breast tagliatelle, top notch. Highly recommend.

Being a mum with a child with additional needs can be really tricky eating out. Here at Half Moon and Half Stars went above and beyond, from seating us in a quite space to the chef plating his dinner just right. Great value for money and the food was amazing! Be seeing you again soon

Went for dinner here last night. New chef started this week, who clearly knows what he's doing. Really properly good pub food. Homemade scotch eggs, huge racks of slow cooked ribs from local butcher, Jerk Chicken wings, burgers etc - it was all top quality. I really wanted to try the creme brulee, but was way too full by then! Portions fairly epic. This pub has seen a transformation in the past 12 months, with great hosts Dean and Kelly, and friendly staff. As well as amazing food, it's also a proper drinking pub, and has great live music some weekends. So good to have such a good local pub now, as haven't had one for a while. More subdued lighting in conservatory dining bit would be good, but we had a great time and really recommend this place.

We went to half moon for our sons 18th birthday, such a welcoming pub with the friendly staff! Nothing was to much trouble they decorated the table played happy birthday song to him, was lovely! The food was amazing, all cooked fresh and perfectly to what we had asked! Huge selection of choice, something for everyone! Would 100% recommend to anyone. an amazing meal with lovely staff! We will definitely be returning to try more of your amazing menu 💗

Had a fantastic lunch this Saturday with my family at The Half Moon & Seven Stars. All cooked fresh and tasted amazing! The menu has lots of variety whether you want a big or small plates, it caters for all. Kids menu is great too offering a variety of good food which even the fussiest of eaters will find something. Can't wait to return to try more!

Went with the family and a couple of friends to try the new menu and it was brilliant. The new Chef has clearly put a lot of thought into the menu and it was all beautifully cooked. The waitresses were brilliant and really attentive. It was a great meal all round!

Went to visit the giant and Sheila for steak night and belated birthday with family . Lovely country pub great landlords . Well trained pleasant staff. Service great Tuesday is steak night great steaks and pepper sauce fantastic value for money . Great indoors and outa door garden parking on site . . Would recommend Tuesday steak night 2 for £17.95 and feel totally relaxed away from the hectic work load and well looked after .

Dave and his wife Sheila, great publicans. Make you very welcome from the moment you walk in. They both always have time to come over and say hello and to stop for a chat. Great atmosphere for a proper pub with gardes too. OOooooh and great food too..

Walked to this nice local pub for a drink as we were staying nearby. Sat outside in their pub garden in the sunshine. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and service was good.

Fabulous, fabulous food! Still thinking about the creamy garlic mushrooms now... Every meal our group had here was delicious.

This is our local pub and thank god for them during lockdown with their take aways. All their food is excellent. The roasts are amazing. Good sizes we have had take aways and also eaten at the pub. The welcome is always friendly. Please do not give this a miss.

Went for lunch this week. We had fish n chip and a scampi lunch. Chips were great, scampi and fish were ok. The land lady was an excellent host. Couldn’t ask for more from her service. It’s a great old fashioned pub with some great locals. If you want great gastro pub food this isn’t your place(head to the dog in Wigham) but if you want a no nonsense pub food you will enjoy it here. I bet they do a great roast on a Sunday! when we are back in the area will certainly pop back.

Had a lovely meal for my birthday. Great service and excellent food quality. Lovely friendly waitress who made sure we were happy. Which we definitely were. All the covid measures were adhered to and we felt very safe going for our meal. Can't wait to go back again. Keep up the good work Dave, Sheila and team.

Absolutely superb meal.Best I have had for ages and I go out for meals frequently. Highly recommend this place.The chips..wow the chips.You won't have tasted chips like this before.Well done that chef well done.Will definitely re-visit.I strongly recommend others do too.

After lockdown I'd love to give a glowing review and support any pub, but alas I can't in this case. Service was fantastic but they served up terrible food unfortunately. It may be that we were a very large party but the food had all the hallmarks of having been pre-prepared and then hastily reheated and cobbled together. The crisp bacon burger was a minging beef patty in a limp bun, no salad and a floppy piece of bacon that was way more fat than meat. Alas it was inedible. Hardly anybody else was happy with their food, so it's not just me being a food snob. With 4.5 stars perhaps we were unlucky, or the other reviews are locals trying to bolster the business?

Well decided after lockdown to treat the wife to a belated birthday meal. I called the pub weeks before and booked a table . When we arrived it was fairly quiet but it soon got busy. We sat in the conservatory to eat our meal and were joined by two other couples in time . The meal was cooked to a treat and very good .

Went for a Birthday treat after lockdown not really knowing what the new normal is going to be like well let me tell you. It's just like before but with a little common sense and distance but this does not change the fact that the Half Moon and Seven Stars is a proper old English style country pub with a mix of modern and old parts of the building Dave,Shela and their team are great hosts and the locals are friendly to it have a cosy feel and friendly atmosphere the beer was great and the food superb and reasonably priced.In summary Proper Pub, Proper Food,Proper Service, Proper Friendly top job everyone thank you again .

Just wanted to thank you for delivering a fabulous service to the community, with Fish and Chip delivery's in the villiage. The half moon and seven stars is a must for reasonably priced and incredibly well executed food. Dave and Shelia are just fantastic and every time I go the food is always spot on. Pleasant atmosphere, always warm and welcoming just a lovely pub.

Ate here with a couple of friends and the food was really tasty and great value. Definitely going to head back here soon. It is just a really friendly and welcoming local pub that does good food with great service.

Made to feel very welcome. Excellent Sunday Roast- one pork, one beef. Faultless meat, spuds and veg. Nice desserts. One gluten free meal and dessert, options explained well. Very good malbec wine too. Not in main dining area, quiet but a bit too secluded.

My family recommended half moon and seven stars - we loved our time here, felt so welcome, great atmosphere and the food is excellent! four of us had steak and they were all cooked exactly how asked! Can’t wait to come back!

Enjoyed our visit to this traditional pub fro an evening meal. Car park at rear is a reasonable size, with a path to enter the rear of the premises. A nice welcome on arrival from the bar staff, with a good selection of beers along with other drinks available. The menu was not extensive, but, enough choices along with the specials on a board on the wall. The service was attentive and friendly, the food was nice and well presented. There is a smoking area outside at the back of the pub with seating, lighting and heating. We would not hesitate to recommend a visit to this nice friendly pub.

Lovely food,amazing steak pie cooked to perfection. Similarly for the lamb pie. Best chicken goujons i have tasted in a pub. Waiting staff were attentive and friendly, especially the young man behind the bar. Looking forward to trying out the Sunday roast on our next visit.

Absolutely delicious lunch here with friends. Melt in the mouth slow roast belly of pork with crispy crackling. Vegetables fresh and perfectly cooked, generous portions, meal piping hot and delicious gravy. Excellent value for money. Will definitely be going again

Wow great little pub .. welcomed by the landlord and landlady who were just lovely and couldn’t do enough for us . The food is wonderful , there was fun and dancing until late in the evening . I recommend this lovely little Kent pub

Had a meal in the quintessential country pub. Home made Steak and ale pie was 1st class, complimented by chunky chips . Great atmosphere highly recommend if you are looking for top notch food in an unspoilt country pub,with great hosts.

As usual we felt very welcome at the Half Moon. A recent meal for four of us was excellent. Sea bass was cooked to perfection, chips were exactly as chips should be - indulgent! Pork dish was very tender. Good portion sizes. Service was also extremely good (thank you to Max who served us).

We have just moved to Preston and were still unpacking at dinner time. We had seen the pub in the village and went to get something to eat.

Great atmosphere and really nice and friendly staff. Had a lovely Sunday roast and as usual the food was great. Always look forward to eating here. A really nice touch was the decorations and balloons that had been set up for one our parties 70th birthday.

First time here,and the place and food are ok,nothing special,but certainly the service was very good,and the food was about what you expect for the price range.

We wanted to attend a music evening at this pub and booked in advance. We were informed early tables advisable as there was Live music on this night. We had beautiful food and service in a lovely conservatory area at the rear of the building. Will definitely return soon.. Was so surprised to see the report on loud music? Maybe they missed the party. Perfect night in a country tavern. Shame it's not our local

We were on holiday in the area and eight of us met here for a family get together last week. Food was good, typical pub fayre done well. The conservatory restaurant was lovely, and has a ramp entrance which is really handy for disabled access.

A very nice Sunday roast, beef was really good. Plenty of food with a lovely gravy. You have to have good gravy!!

Ate here last Friday having booked a table via Facebook. Lovely friendly local pub with a good selection of beers and pub food. My husband had the fish and chips and I had a steak. When I explained that I was on a strict diet they were more than happy to serve it with a jacket potato and salad. The steak was very tender and well cooked. I think that they also do a takeaway service. Would recommend

If you are out in about around the Grove ferry , Wingham Area then drop into the Small village Preston. it has changed little in 50 years except for yet another Housing Development. There is this Pub a Free House , run but a Family and sells local Ale along with lagers and Soft drinks, try your hand on the pool table or a game of darts.

A perfectly cooked steak dinner for 2 (to include tomato, onion rings, mushrooms and chips) plus a very acceptable bottle of Chilean merlot - all for less than £23.

Steak night at the Half Moon and Seven Stars was a great night.we shown to our table very promptly which was very nice,the waitress was also nice and took our order and brought the bottle of wine as part of the deal,this was nicely chilled.The Steaks were great and as we asked them to be.the steam pudd I ordered was also suppurb.

We ate at the Half Moon & Seven Stars in Preston last night. We do live in Preston but had not visited the pub, I am ashamed to say, for many years.

We stayed with a local couple who took us to the pub, we are not locals. The atmosphere is great very friendly welcome and lovely locals, coming from Somerset they had Thatchers Cider even better.

We have been here before (on being recommended) and enjoyed the previous experience, so were happy to book in again. Despite there being nine of us, we were made welcome and the service was excellent. Most of us had a Roast Dinner, for which we were offered a choice of meats, although one of us had a steak. The food was well cooked and tasty and the choice of vegetables was excellent (always a good sign). We decided to sit in the Conservatory, as it has a nice atmosphere, we could talk amongst ourselves and feel relaxed, without feeling hemmed in. We will definitely be back !

Recently moved to the village and love the pub! Dave and Shirley are perfect hosts and the other staff great too. Food is of a good standard and they have some cracking events and themed nights too. Nice garden, pool table and darts board with other games for kids. Very kid and dog friendly too

Dropped in for Sunday dinner and could not have received a warmer welcome - landlady was so lovely and friendly. Staff were smiley and friendly.

We stopped by for lunch after attending a wedding just down the road, before we set off back to London. The food was excellent and really great value at £20 for two for lunch with a drink each.

Fabulous lunch for a large group. Good service. Fantastic hosts. It was a shame to have to go home, we were getting very settled! Definitely worth a visit.

I received a voucher to eat at this pub, as a birthday gift. We attended the steak night last evening - amazing value for money. 2 steaks, with chips mushrooms tomatoes and onion rings, and a good bottle of Merlot for £19.95. I challenge anyone to find a better meal for that price.

Popped in on Saturday afternoon just gone to watch the rugby. Was served by a charming man (I think his name was Roger 1 - not sure what the one is for). It seemed logical for my friend to join me for a snack there afterwards which was excellent fresh and home cooked. Would thoroughly recommend.

If you want a warm welcome and and great food your in the right place. There is a great friendly welcome every time you walk through the door . The food is always fresh and some of the best around the area . It's great if you want a bite to eat at lunchtime or in the evening . The Sunday Roasts are fantastic . If you fancy a quick drink or good food .

Well I wouldn't go out of my way to pay a visit but food was OK and staff pleasant enough. There is the possibility to eat outside in good weather.

We were staying in the little caravan site a few hundred yards away, so it was nice to be able to walk here. We had a delicious home cooked lunch, and my husband was delighted with the "real ales" The staff were friendly and made us feel at home. We were pleased that it is a dog friendly pub.

This is our local pub, and I feel we are lucky. Dave and Sheila make great publicans, and I am so pleased that we have a traditional pub back in the village.

We arrived as a party of three (family) at very short notice to be greeted by smiling faces at what I can only describe as a "proper" country pub. Hops above the bar, fire roaring and a friendly atmosphere. We sat in the "snug" which was warm and cosy and ordered the Sunday roast (choice of lamb, beef, chicken or pork - my son's choice of a mix of all four was greeted with an "of course"). The meals arrived and were perfect - crispy roasts, batter puddings, beef cooked to perfection and copious amounts of freshly cooked veg and gravy. The waitress was friendly and attentive (but in no way overbearing) and nothing seemed too much trouble. We followed the roasts with home made white chocolate cheesecake with raspberry coolie served with either cream or ice cream from the dessert menu and a choice of different teas or coffees. At no time were we rushed - we had a wonderful, relaxed, high quality and delicious meal. I'd highly recommend you giving it a try. Thank you Dave and Sheila.

Been here twice so far on a week away. First for lunch, simple but yummy baked potato. Sunday roast was gorgeous and well priced and we are trying the pie night on Wednesday! Friendly staff, quite a local feel and impressed

A refreshing change to the ponced up pubs, this caters for a pie 'n pint, nice garden with good parking. Pleasant customers not a 'C' in site. Very relaxed & friendly - will be back.

We were made to feel very welcome on both of our visits. Great choice of menu for vegetarians and staff were very accommodating as we mixed our choice of food off the set menu list. On both our visits the food arrived hot and was well cooked and presented. The staff asked once if everything was alright and did we need anything and then left us in peace. Well done. We had a Saturday lunch here - sat in the garden and had cod and chips. We were delighted that they sell Whitstable Bay Blonde too. Garden looked a little neglected - possibly because of a recent conservatory extension? Decor a little neglected too, but hopefully business will thrive (on ale & food!) and they can invest in the premises. Warm welcome, would return again.

Friendly pub, great food. Caters for gluten free. This is the second time we have visited recently and it hasn't disappointed. The new conservatory is light and airy, if a little hot.
