The Goat in Portsmouth

At 9:05 last night, my daughter and walked up to the Goat after going to 5 other places who’d stopped serving food already. We were traveling and hadn’t eaten dinner yet and my daughter was starving. The place was dead. All of the tables outside were open. To our delight, the waiter told us that they were serving food until 11. So we asked if we could sit outside. Immediately a very rude woman stepped in front if him telling me that they only serve 21+ after 9 pm. I explained to her that we are asking to sit outside where no one else is, and are definitely not ordering alcohol. I communicated that we had not eaten all day and that every other place we’d been to is closed and we just wanted food. She refused to consider it. I will never step foot in that place again. I completely understand to have a policy like that when it’s a party scene with drunk people everywhere. But when the place is completely dead and you’re not even asking to sit inside, that’s just ridiculous. They should hire people with basic common sense and social maturity to make decisions.

Es una gran sala abierta con tal vez una docena de grandes televisores montados en las paredes. La habitación está dominada por una barra central, con algunas mesas hacia el frente de la habitación. Visitamos alrededor de las 6 pm el viernes por la noche y la multitud era joven, y en su mayoría hombres disfrutando de cerveza y bebidas. Fuera de observación no se sirvió mucha comida. Esta es una habitación súper ruidosa y difícil de mantener una conversación. Decidimos quedarnos y probar la comida, el menú es lo que uno esperaría en un pub / taberna, con muchas opciones de hamburguesas. El servicio fue amable, eficiente, la comida llegó rápido. Probamos dos hamburguesas diferentes, una TB 12, que era básicamente una hamburguesa con queso y un "Sentir el Berna", que tenía aguacate. Las hamburguesas estaban bien, pero nada especial. La porción era grande, con un montón de patatas fritas, que tristemente estaban empapadas. No probamos nada más. No creo que salga de mi camino para volver a buscar comida, hay muchas mejores opciones en la ciudad, pero sin duda es divertido tomar una cerveza y tal vez ver un juego.
