After taking in some NYD sea air my other half and I decided to drive along from Folkestone to Hythe to see if we could stop by cosy pub for a quick drink. We parked up and wondered along to the Globe Inn. Upon arrival we received a warm welcome from the Landlady who wished us a Happy New Year and sat us next to the log fire. No food was available but we overheard the owners offering to cook Fish and Chips for a couple who had also popped into the pub. I've never written a review before but this old school proper High Street pub deserves a mention and a reminder to everyone why we need to keep our local pubs alive. An unexpected surprise and a place we will definitely drop by again. Well Done!

Do not be put off by the somewhat tired interior. We had the best fish and chips here that I have had in many a long while.Hand cut chips with cod loin perfectly cooked in a light homemade batter. The menu is short because it is all cooked fresh to order.Nice well kept beer and a helpful friendly landlady. If you are in Hythe, treat yourself to a meal here. You will be glad you did!

Ok pub with nice beers, but an idiot chauvinistic bully of a landlord, who thinks it's acceptable to talk to women like doormats!!! This guy is in the wrong business for sure as he has zero people/social skills whatsoever, unlike his girlfriend/wife who is lovely and great as a landlady!!! He should stay upstairs or in the kitchen the muppet, as he clearly impacts what could be a good atmosphere!!!

Thought we would pop in here for a quick drink before we went out for dinner at a local restaurant. The drink was fine but the atmosphere behind the bar was horrendous, we feel so sorry for the lady behind the bar if she is the landlady or just a staff member as the man behind the bar was horrible he spoke to her like rubbish. He belittled her in front of us and other customers, swore at her and used really foul language, me and my wife stood in shock at the bar and did not know where to look or what to do. We feel so sorry for you poor lady , we just hope your ok and remember nobody has to put up with being spoken to like that!! You really are worth more than the way he spoke to you and treated you.

Me, my partner and her mother have just left this pub after one of the weirdest, strangest experiences i’ve ever had in a pub. My partner had plugged her phone into a socket in the pub for all of 5 minutes, this is after spending nearly 20 quid on drinks, to be the angrily confronted by the landlord. He stormed into the bar area and demanded the phone was unplugged. Which in itself is fair enough. But the ensuing overly aggressive, angry confrontation from the landlord left us all shellshocked. This ended with him telling us all to drink up and leave with a few swear words. As I left I asked what exactly the problem was and he said something alone the lines of “take yourselves and your common noise out of my pub” I’m still in shock now none of us have ever been spoken to so appallingly in our lives. Will never ever return to this pub in my life and will tell all my friends in the area to do the same. The landlord needs to learn a thing or two about running a pub and some people skills. Horrendous experience.

We went to have a nice dinner, interrupted by the landlord flipping out for no apparent reason at the table next to us. Literally nothing to cause it, we’d had a brief chat with the table, lovely family. What a ridiculous night we walked out after his strange outburst. I really felt for the people involved. I won’t be going back! I told a girl at the bar and she said, it’s often that way! RUDE AND RIDICULOUS LANDLORD!!!

A lovely, comfortable, relaxed friendly pub. We thoroughly enjoyed the homemade pie and the perfectly cooked crumbles complete with plenty of (requested) extra custard but what really made it for us was the hostess. It is a very friendly pub, we were welcomed even with our 2 dogs we both ordered the fish and chips which were very good, better than most fish and chip shops, the batter was very crisp and the fish cooked just right. After visiting a little over a year ago, we decided to go for lunch again at the Globe as we were in Hythe for the day. What a difference a year makes. The meals were not a patch on what we had last time. I had a slice of overcooked lasagne, 2 small slices of garlic bread and a pile of spinach leaves placed over the whole dish. It was barely warm. One of our party ordered ham, egg and chips. She got 1 slice of budget ham, 2 fried eggs and 6 overcooked chips and not the homemade ones we had last time. My husband had cottage pie. It was in a ramikin with a couple of cauliflower and broccoli florets, no gravy. The worst meal had to be my son in laws. He ordered beef stew and dumplings. What he got was mince beef in s much gravy it looked like soup, a few bits of frozen casserole mix and a frozen dumpling. Needless to say, next time we are in Hythe we will be having lunch elsewhere.

We visited the Globe Inn last Saturday for a late lunch as they served food up until 6 p.m.unlike many which stop at 2.30 p.m. I ordered a fillet steak and it was the most tender steak I have had this year in a variety of establishments. They were also amenable to amending the accompaniments to suit my needs. The food was well cooked and delicious. My cousin had a rump steak which was also excellent. They checked that we were happy with the meals not once but twice. They also stocked the local Shepherd Neame Whitstable Lager which was served cold and to perfection. I went to this pub on Saturday evening the 4th of June with 2 of my friends to watch the live band. We arrived at 8 and the band started at 9 so we sat at the bar and ordered some drinks. We had been there for an hour and the band was about to start when we were told by the landlady that we had to move from where we were sitting at the bar because it was reserved for her friends that would be in later, I enquired if you could do that in a public house and was told in the most abrupt manner that she was the landlady and she could do what she wanted so we left the pub and never got to see the band. We were glad we did. On a cold wet day it was lovely to see a real fire. We ordered lunch for ourselves and asked if it was ok to give our 8 year old Downs Syndrome grandson his own food. Not a problem. We were told we would have a while to wait as all food was cooked to order. Although the portion sizes were not large, what we had was well cooked and presented. We had such a nice time at the Globe Inn following a family day out on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway that I feel really guilty for taking so long to add this review as the visit was in July!My Wife, daughter and grandson (aged 10 months) were looking for somewhere for lunch following a trip on the RH&DR. We came across the Globe and the Landlady and staff were very welcoming and friendly - the landlady even provided some fruit for my grandson from her private supply which she cut up (to ten month old bite size) for him.We had a really nice pub lunch in the courtyard garden which was perfect and sheltered from the slight breeze that was blowing that day.It was good to find that pubs still exist where there is good beer, good food and that are well run with friendly staff. Thanks for an enjoyable lunch and sorry for taking so long to give you the positive review you deserve!

After taking our orders the barman came back and apologised as the kitchen did not have some of the ingredients. After changing our order and waiting for what seemed an eternity for our food we were shocked as the meals appeared. Firstly they looked like child portions, some of the food was burnt, the presentation was disgraceful and the steak and stout pie was broken up, and had 3 pieces of dried up meat inside! After returning the meal with the pie, an older man came out (landlord?) and tried to tell us that the pie was satisfactory and the portions were ok. When we said there was only 3 pieces of meat he replied "yeh but they were big pieces" His attitude was extremely rude and instead of offering an apology he simply wanted to rant at us for sending the meal back. Having had numerous pub meals over many many years we have never come across such disappointing food or rude customer service. These people are obviously in the wrong profession. How unfortunate to come across this kind of behaviour in this otherwise beautiful town.

I popped in to the Gobe as I passed through Hythe seeing I heard great things about the food, I walked in and felt instantly at home thanks to the attitude by the bartender, I ordered the sirloin steak with all the trimmings and had a great pint wilst I waited, the bartender warned me that it may have been a little wait as all the food is home cooked and not frozen which was fine and on commenting on the ale I was informed that it was infact the landlords passion having great beer and determined to keep his cellar one of the best of the Shepard neame pubs, I was served my steak which was full of flavour... I was surprised when the cook (nicki) came out to check on me but I was reassured it was because she feels strongly about the food being right, but take it from me she has no worries. To sum up amazing food, amazing service and beer, I have and will carry on recommending the globe to everyone I meet as I believe it is a great pub!!

The lovely couple who run this inn offered to open up solely for our party. We had a set meal of roast beef with all the trimmings followed by Apple crumble with custard/ice cream. Andrew, the landlord, told us that the beef was purchased from the local butcher, it was superb and expertly cooked by Andrew, the accompanying veg was abundant and delishous. Nicky, the landlady is lovely and I think she made the apple crumble which all said was yummy. A handsome young man (son?) was helping serve. Outstanding hospitality. Saw advertised steak dinner for two inc wine only £25 - so had to be sampled. Most chefs refuse or mess up my "very well done" and my partner likes rare+ yet both came together and properly cooked, mine was even moist with good peppercorn sauce. Overall, an excellent meal followed by a great late night at the bar which is a traditional proper pub with a very friendly atmosphere, and nobody cared that we're gay. We shall be back for more.

It was steak night at the Globe and it was good. It was very good. It was very, very good. Properly cooked and served with a piquant pepper sauce and chips (and wine as well) it was worth every penny. With a good crowd and excellent service the ambiance was just right which with everything else I've just mentioned contributed to an outstanding evening. Will be going back for more.......if I don't it would be a huge missed steak.

Popped in with friends for a steak night special. One of the best rump steaks I've ever had, Cooked to perfection with all the trimmings. On top of that a great night with all the regular customers. Great to find an old fashioned pub with great food. Miss this at your peril.

Went for lunch and the meal was awful as well as the miserable service. How they can call the person in the kitchen a chef defies belief!!!!! Did not notice until we left but they only scored 3 for hygiene too.

I was at War and Peace and it was 2050 and everything was closed except the Globe. I walked in looking for food. Karen cooked a meal and two days later I was a regular. I cannot wait the 35 years to become a local. I do not generally go to pubs at all, once a year is a lot. The atmosphere is great, A few locals, low music in the background, perfect. There every night telling my little stories of things that happened to me. Eggs for breakfast was great plus OJ to start the day. Karen treated me like a long lost brother when I needed a hand and a great hostess. The Globe was for me the best part of Hythe

I visited recently to sit down and eat some lunch instead of flying by for a diet coke between jobs and I was impressed. I had spinach and feta bites served with wedges in a sweet basket which was delicious, and a bountiful portion too! No pretention just good smiley service and yummy food. I think Hythe needs less snobbery and more places like the Globe.

Six of us turned up at the Globe early on an October Monday evening, asking for food. The lovely woman at the bar produced six good piping hot meals on her own in the kitchen for us whilst also multi-tasking at the bar. And there is proper hand-pumped beer there too. Give it a look. You'll like it there.

Took my wife and 88 year old inlaws for lunch at the Globe Inn Hythe on Thursday and I was bitterly dissapointed, my wife chose chickes schnitzel which was badly overcooked I had ham eggs and chips (I think they used bantam eggs) and the eggs tasted of whatever was cooked previously and my father-in-law had what was called sausage hot pot, I think it was a sausage shepherds pie as I have never heard of mash on top of a hotpot all in all very bad so we wont go there again then to cap it all I was given a parking ticket for parking a wheels width outside the white box in a deserted car park that cost me £60 on top of the £57 pounds for the meal

Popped into this sweet little cafe in Hythe, really friendly and helpful staff. Made to feel welcome and given a good choice of food and drink. Looked after and not rushed, Will definitely be calling in again.

Very sadly this pub now seems to be closed. It was shut on Thursday evening when we came past. And there was a large SOLD sign on the building. :(. (Hopefully it will be reopened as a pub someone soon )

Something different & refreshing for New Romney town. A nice looking bar, plenty of drink options, good music & comfortable seating. When I visited it was mid week and basically empty, but still a good atmosphere. A nice young lady was serving our drinks, hello on arrival, goodbye on leaving. Reasonably priced, would visit again.

Always liked the atmosphere at the master brewer. Nice location with duck pond near by and free parking. Had a really good time for a friend's birthday recently but the only issue is they were running out of drinks... To the point I had a vodka lemonade with more vodka than lemonade because they were running out of mixer. I wasn't complaining but it was a curious situation to be in. Regardless of the lack of supply the bar staff were friendly and accommodating. In the words of Arnie in the terminator... I'll be back
