The food was superb I had the sir lion for Sunday lunch and had a delicious apple pie. The food was super good and the most was very friendly and kind. It was the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had. And the Apple pie was home made so it was super tasty. As I was in holiday in Kent we couldn’t find a most wonderful place to have a lovely lunch. They are dog friendly so it’s great as finding places where dogs are allowed when on holiday can be hard. So this is a great place.

Wow!!!! What a find. We have come away to log cabins near by and could not check in so drove to find somewhere for lunch. We simply stepped back in time. George was an amazing host with some amazing history knowledge. But for me and my friends was the most amazing stunning log fire. Ladies and gents. If you are driving by please give this lovely old 17th century pub with freshly cooked and well made food a visit.

Eating out at restaurants isn’t always about being able to take a photo that you can put on Instagram. Sometimes you just need a good local pub, where we can talk to all the people in the room, and get some good home-cooked food. You know that the service will be honest, the food will be cooked with love and most importantly you will be made to feel like home… Well guess what. This is that! This no-thrills family run our doesn’t offer amazing silver service, nor will you go home telling your mates about it. But you do feel at home, you do get smiles everywhere, and the food is delicious. Proper pub food. It was hard to chose from the outstanding selection of country / game style food options, where you know it would have been shot in the next field earlier that day. But we decided on a venison pie and then I had 2 (very large and generous) duck breasts in a chefs Special brandy sauce. The only options for sides were what type of potato you had, everything came with season vegetables making like very easy. Whilst this isn’t somewhere you’d rush back to, and it’s quite easy to drive pass, I have to give this a thumbs up as it was delicious

Although as you enter this pub you might feel as if you have stepped back in time to the 80’s don’t let this put you off. The owner is very hospitable and his attention to detail is notable. The food was outstanding, great chef. We had beautifully cooked fresh cod and chips and also the double duck breast with fresh vegetables. We can definitely vouch that the duck was free range and locally sourced as there was a small piece of shot in it ( not a criticism) . Please visit this wonderful pub, such a shame it wasn’t more busy on a Friday evening. Will definitely come again when next in the area.

The George Inn has all the atmosphere of a proper traditional pub, a lovely place to be. The food (Sunday roast lunch) was excellent and the landlord was attentive and charming. The beer was good too. The pub was calm and quiet - no loud music or machines. Lovely planting in baskets and tubs give an excellent impression, and the pub is very easy to find on the road between Hythe and Canterbury.

We had a lovely evening in this cozy, charming and traditional pub. The food was fantastic and the owner Micheal is friendly and a great host. Ate at the George Inn twice during our stay locally, last week. We had really great meals on both occasions. Lots of choice and the chef cooked every thing really well. The sausages and mash, chicken and leek pie and the fish and chips were notably good. We also had some of the puddings- all traditional and v tasty. We loved the apple pie and the bread and butter pudding especially. The pub itself is steeped in character, full of nooks and crannies and lots of interesting artefacts to look at. A really lovely atmosphere. Both our kids also found the pub really interesting. Michael the landlord is very friendly and helpful and very welcoming. Will definitely be back.

We popped in for lunch and found a very appetising menu including a vegetarian dish of Farmhouse Onion. Two halves of a large onion stuffed with onion, mushroom, cheese and basil accompanied with fresh veg and a choice of potatoes in a red wine and cream sauce. Delicious and good value with great hospitality from Mike the landlord. Other people ate while we were there and their meals looked equally appetising. There were a number of cars in the car park when we arrived but the pub was empty but this was soon resolved when a group of walkers arrived from a walk and nice to see they had all booked for lunch. We will return.

Thanks to the chef also! The only thing to bear in mind is that it is only open at “traditional times”. So when we thought that it was “Open” - it wasn’t! This pub was just the ticket after getting wet and wind-blown from a country walk. Most people probably speed by on the busy road without even noticing the George Inn and they are missing a treat by doing so.The landlord was very friendly and gave us a nice welcome. It was a shame that there weren't more people in to give the place extra atmosphere but at least it meant that we could enjoy the classical music that was playing! There were plenty of delicious sounding meals on the menu and specials boards and it was hard to choose what to eat. I went for The Pepper Pot which was a lamb and bacon stew with dumplings and a side of bread roll and butter. The perfect meal for a cold day!I was very pleased with the flavour and size of portion, there was lots of meat and plenty of liquid to mop up with the bread roll. There was only one ale on offer but it was a good brew from Hopfuzz brewery in Hythe. There are lots of walking routes in the area and I will be back for another meal soon.

We were just passing through the village when we came across The George looking for somewhere for lunch having found the Tiger in Stowting closed. To be honest, from the outside, we weren't sure what to expect - the parking and garden area could do with some attention. But the welcome was very warm and the meal was delicious: the three of us chose the steak and kidney pudding - what a treat. Clearly homemade, each the size of a small bowl, the suet puddings were crammed with beautifully cooked steak and generous chunks of kidney in a rich tasty gravy. The vegetable selection served separately was equally delicious though frankly surplus to requirements. All for £9.95 excluding drinks. Service was quick, friendly but unobtrusive. Really yummy meal - congratulations to the female chef who cooked everything on the premises. Definitely a place to return to.

We were on holiday and staying just down the road in Elmsted. We passed this place when we drove into Canterbury a few times as its on the main road. From the outside it looks a bit run down with one of the letters missing on the sign but i was drawn in by the claims of alehouse. Sadly when we went in there was only one ale on, but it was a local one I hadn't had before so happy enough. I ordered the steak and ale pie, but everyone else chose something different, the fish, (battered), fish cakes, sausage and mash. For me the steak and ale pie was the best I have had, full of great chunks of steak and home made. Everyone else was happy although the sausages were a bit small(3)for my ever hungry son. Our host and owner was very welcoming and served very good real ale. Ordered two meals one of lamb chops which were served covered in mint sauce ( should have been served in a sauce boat). They were over cooked which made them rather tough. The other order was of "chefs" beef pie. The whole was so over cooked that it was impossible to put a fork into some of the meat, cooked for much shorter time we think it would have been very good because the flavour was good. We suspect that this dish had been reheated possibly more than once! The vegetables were also over cooked and minuscule proportion. We couldn't believe that "The Garden Of England" could produce such food.It was the worst meal we have had in England.

Popped in on the off chance while driving home to Canterbury. Decor is a bit suspect, although the fireside chesterfield was nice. But the rest is a bit like a beachfront coffee shop festooned with nick nacks. Landlord was wary at first, and stayed that way. Not exactly welcoming.Food was average, not particularly hot and somewhat dried up at the edges. Still it was relatively cheap. However, that night both me and my partner had decidedly dodgy tums, this carried on for a whole 24 hours.Shame really as with a character injection for both pub and landlord the location could yield a very nice country inn experience. In future we will drive by.

The standard of the chef's cooking was excellent for a local pub. One of us had cod, chips and peas, while the other of us had salmon. Both dishes were first class, and as the price was fair (just under ten ukp each) - we shall certainly be coming again. The pub has not been open for long, under this new owner, and we expect it to attract more visitors as it becomes better known.

Given that this has apparently re-opened only recently....the owners/landlords have certainly hit the ground running. Food is served until 2:30 on the Sunday, but most places would not be overjoyed to see a dozen hairy bikers pull in at 2:15. However the staff were very welcoming and we were soon seated with one of their superb beers in hand. Que a 3 course set menu (the whitebait was some of the freshest and tastiest I have enjoyed) and we were happily on our way by 3:30. The roasts were perfectly acceptable and the vegetarian options equally well recieved. All in all, a good country pub with comfy chairs and a warm fire. I wish them well over the winter.

What a treasure this place is, the atmosphere is relaxing and e inn has been refurbished beautifully, the food is superb, a great choice and all really fresh. The absolute star of the show is the chocolate baileys cheese cake, totally homemade, no frozen rubbish.Enjoy this jem but don't tell everyone or it'll spoil it

Had a meal with friends and family here It is a nice country pub with a welcoming landlord, food was great with good variety but it was only the chef and the cook that worked there, if there was a waiter or waitress to help it would be perfect, would visit and recommend

I can hardly believe that this is the same pub that gained a couple of duff reviews. My wife and I had had our anniversary lunch there today - our first visit - and were greatly impressed. The ambience was delightful (and I would imagine it would be even more so on a cold, winter's day, sitting in front of the fire), the landlord was friendly and helpful, and the food plentiful and delicious. One small criticism: I'm not a fan of background music while I'm eating anyway, but the way it was presented - a CD player connected to a bright TV screen - was out of character with the rest of this charming Olde Worlde pub.

The food is good basic English food but service is just too relaxed. Lovely pub on a very busy road. The landlord is very friendly but the whole experience was just a bit to casual. Good food though.

Having driven down Stone street for years wondering what was happening to this old pub I was pleased to see it re-open. Having popped in out of curiosity for a drink we decided to book a table for 4. Prior to going I looked at Trip-advisor and saw a mixed bag of feedback with some of the adverse feedback around the welcome. We arrived just ahead of a couple and it appeared the landlord was under a bit of pressure as he had a pretty full house and was all alone on front of house. With the landlord then called back into the kitchen to serve some meals the couple behind us left without being served after what only appeared to be a minute of waiting - a potential poor review in the offing. That sets the scene. However read on because all 4 of us had a great meal and as the pub calmed down the landlord came into his own and certainly made us feel welcome and genuinely appreciated our positive feedback. I guess I suspected that service might be a bit strained and if I had one bit of advice it might be around having an extra pair of hands. That said there was a lot I liked on the menu so we will be back to try something else Michael.

We have now eaten twice at this reopened pub/Inn.We found the interior great, rather quirky & clean. The garden certainly could do with some help but Rome wasn't built in a day!!The menu is interesting and they have made a great find in the Chef full marks for the food. The Gentleman owner is a little abrupt and the service lacked any polish (suggest some training might be in order)This Inn has the makings of a good eatery if they take notice of the Chef & are guided by his ideas.

We used to like The George Inn and were pleased to see it open again. We were however very disappointed. We walked past the shabby garden with dirty tables and went into the bar. There was only one other couple in the bar and the landlord did not even greet us. We asked for a menu and he grunted an answer at us and gave us a shabby, greasy sheet of paper which had a faded menu pinted on it. We asked of there were any lighter choices and he was very unfriendly in pointing to a chalk board again without speaking. He turned away from us and did nor appear to notice as we walked out.Definately would not go there again, very unwelcoming and rude.

The George In at Stone Street is lovely. Situated on the old Roman road between Lympne and Canterbury and in a beautiful rural setting it is perfectly situated for a relaxing meal. Real old fashioned friendly service twinned with beautifully cooked food at a reasonable price is a recipe for success. It appears to be a family run pub. The welcome was friendly, the real ale lovely and the wine at a good price, I will return.

Called here yesterday, was very pleased to find it open again after passing it many times and seeing it closed. The new owner made us very welcome and it was soon apparent that he has a lot of experience at running a good pub. The real ales from a small Kent brewery were in tip top condition. The food was home cooked, good quality and fairly priced. We will call back frequently because the pub is close to where we play golf. In all a very enjoyable experience.

Lively with friendly service and hearty fare. Pricing is very fair. There is also a very charming bric a brac shop on the premises selling country plates a to vintage rifles. Altogether, a lovely stop.

Strictly speaking not new but reopened after being closed for many years, we were passing, noticed the 'open' sign and called in.The pub is a rarely these days in that it is a genuine old style pub with a bar and bar stools as well as a relaxed leather sofa area by the inglenook fireplace. The landlord turned out to be a real larger than life character and we were made to feel welcome and 'at home'. As it was lunchtime we ordered main courses which were truly superb but not expensive. The two of us paid £23 for two mains plus two glasses of wine. Very good value indeed. If you are in the area call in. It's a pub that's well worth a diversion of a few miles! It's rare that I rate an establishment so highly but this one absolutely deserves it.

Place was dirty, last persons food all over the floor. Food arrived at different times for each of us, was cold in some cases and the staff didn't wish to engage with any complaints even when food was missing. Went elsewhere in town and will not return again.

I went there after my niece's funeral and we were treated with respect by the staff. The family had a buffet in the pub garden and we were left to have our family time Thank you everyone.

Caffe La Delizia in Folkestone is a must-visit! The café is perfectly situated in the town center, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere. I enjoyed a delicious milkshake there and was impressed by the friendly and helpful staff. The café is a great spot to grab a snack or meal, and they even have charging points for your phone. Highly recommend!

Lovely pub at the end of a stiff Folkestone-Hythe-Sandgate walk. Amazing view of the sea, so calming. It's a hidden gem for sure, please support.
