Had great fish and chips when we had visitors down, who were also very impressed. They informed us it's worth coming back to Deal just for their food alone! We're pleased we listened to our friends who told us about this hidden gem, and will be back. The team were friendly and full of beans, unlike the service we have received elsewhere - the staff were a real breath of fresh air. Pricing is very reasonable, cheaper than the other chip shops we've been to since moving here. We didn't take advantage of their delivery service, but will likely do that in the future.

Used to be lovely but has gone downhill. Never used to mind about the long wait but the chips were stale, fish overcooked and sausage was burnt. Will be giving this place a miss from now on.

This place knows how to cook fish and chips. Great prices, all wrapped in paper or cardboard. The quality is in the detail, this shop knows how to do it!

What a find, this is probably the nicest fish and chips we've ever had. Gluten free, not too oily and excellent chips. The staff were friendly and good fun while we waited as the fish was cooked fresh. Can't fault it. Would definitely come again.

Went here last night on the off chance as I'm new to the area and it's a lovely little chippy with excellent customer service and telling me about how it's family owned. Now I have had a few chippies from places around dover and deal and overall they not to good so I nearly did not go in here for the same reason however I was totally wrong and I'm glad for it finally a chippie that cooks chips all the way through and crunchy on the outside nice and soft on the inside not to greasey either. The battered sausages were nice and crunchy and the gherkin was very nice too only slight complaint is the egg was slightly too soft for my liking but that's just me personally. Prices are very decent too will be back twice more to let you know how it holds up and if still excellent then I will update it to 5 stars Update: hey this is now my second time here (now with pictures) everything here was a vast improvement over the last time even the egg which was so nice this time gherkins as my fiance says nice and crunchy with plenty of taste to it. My other half had the salvoly this time very nice with plenty of rich of flavour and a nich meaty taste however they did me a 12 inch bad boy sausage in batter I never seen a sausage this big at fish and chips place in a long time not since my old favourite in gravesend and that was a once off this is gonna be a regular item on the menu I got the prototype which was glorious (photos attached). Now the oh so important chips how where they on second time the main item? Staying in Deal for the weekend. Luckily just down the road from Fryer Tuck. Happy to see it had good reviews and very well deserved. First and foremost the food is great! Not greasy. Full of flavour. All the best classic options. The service was excellent. We collected in store and had a good chat with the staff. It’s clearly popular and does home deliveries. Highly recommend.

Disappointed the chips were ok the haddock was okay, the curry sauce was was more a spread and the steak and kidney pie was under cooked, I have eaten many times before it closed for a while but I won’t be eating there again 😞

I can’t say enough good things about this chippy in Deal! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and a welcoming atmosphere. The fish was incredibly fresh, cooked to golden perfection. The chips aren’t soggy and you can tell everything is cooked in fresh oil. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food you receive. The staff were friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The place is far above the other chippies in the town.

It's great to see this chippie up and running again as it does the best fish n chips in Deal. The place is very popular with reason, fast service, delivery and great quality food. It's not open every day, so check their website for updates.

They're back! This has always been a brilliant fish and chip shop. On the corner of an ordinary terrace, it's something of a "local's secret". Unlike some it won't necessarily be mentioned in the Telegraph travel guide or Conde Nast, but the Fryer Tuck consistently cooks chips which basically spoil most other chip shops for those of us in the know. But don't ever think this is a "just for locals" place - it's a family business run by owners who really care about their quality and range, and there's always a friendly welcome and a chat. It's just outside the edge of the main Conservation Area, near a lot of the AirBnBs and guest houses, and it's well worth the few minutes walk from the end of Middle Street. You won't regret it, I promise. Sadly they had to close for a while to source replacement equipment (no easy task, it turns out) but summer 2023 has seen their much anticipated return. We'd missed them, and today's chips confirmed they're still the best in town.

Simply Fantastic Fish and Chips. All cooked fresh on order - be patient as it may take a while (25 minutes in my case) but so worth it. You may not be aware that they have been closed for 14 months due to fryer issues and are getting back into the swing of things hence service might be a bit slower than normal. But be patient and love the end output - the batter melts in the mouth

My wife and I just moved to Deal and live close to Fryer Tuck. We hoped that it would be at least half decent due to it’s proximity. The fact is, it’s extraordinary. We have had takeaway from them three times and it may just be the best fish and chips we’ve ever had. What’s even more important is that the staff are so friendly, they are already starting to seem like family (the ones you want to be around!), plus, just waiting for your order is a pleasure as the place seems to be a meeting area for the best of the locals.

Fast delivery. Tasty fish. Good size portion. Arrived hot. Friendly driver. Highly Recommended.

I ordered two large Rig/Hake and small chips. They are friendly and the food was cooked in front of me. Unfortunately mine went in the bin as the oil was too old and had not been changed. I therefore did not eat mine. I chose on the basis of the reviews but sorry I won't be visiting here again.

On holiday in the area, put an order in by phone and it was ready when promised. They have a good selection of dishes, my Haddock was cooked well, and they fry their chips perfectly. All serving crew are friendly and efficient.

Went in at 8.18, shop closes at 8.30, had no fish, no fish bites, no gravy, ended up getting pattie chips n peas, potato in pattie was raw, disgusting service

Visited twice this summer and wasn’t disappointed! Huge portions, friendly staff, yummy food and gluten & dairy free options. I often worry eating out with intolerances but was reassured with the knowledge and practices of the staff about the separate gluten free fryer & wrapping of the food. Gluten free batter on the fish is light & crisp. Chips are perfect! Will definitely be visiting again and telling friends & family to visit!

Never mind best fish and chips in Deal, best I've had anywhere. All fish is freshly fried; none of "this was cooked 5 minutes ago". Just the right amount of batter, which tastes great. And the chips? My word! Don't waste your money on triple fried truffle nonsense we have in London. Just proper, traditional delicious chips. All served up with a smile and old-fashioned courtesy by the young man owner (whose lovely mum was watching on with pride). So if you're a tourist to Deal, like me, just skip the ones on beach front and walk on ten minutes up High Street till it becomes College Road. You'll be licking your fingers for more

Just in Deal for one night. Spent a long time deciding on best place to go for fish and chips. So glad on my choice. Fantastic. Great fish and chips at a very good price. The portions are enormous. The fish was excellent and great batter. Clearly busy with locals. The guy who runs it is passionate about what he does. Very friendly. The world would be a better place if there were more people like him.

This place has the best batter, the best banter and the best menu selection I’ve ever come across in a fish & chip shop. It was so good, I went back twice during a weeks stay in Deal. The menu is modern (amazing Gluten Free batter - truly awesome), with vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options all on offer. The portion sizes are more than generous and every single member of staff makes you feel welcome and at home. This is a neighbourhood corner stone that should truly be celebrated, and judging by the amount of local customers it seems to be! Do yourself a favour, if you’re in the area, make sure you visit and experience it for yourself. A true gem. An easy 5 stars from me, - The “Glutenated Glutenator”

Perfection! Everything about this place and the people. Every chip was crispy, the fish was flaky and batter was light and the vegan battered cheeseburger was beyond. Best curry sauce I've had. Away for the weekend in Deal, we found this tiny chippy in a back street close to the seafront. It was brilliant. Orders were flooding in and the staff were run off their feet. But, that didn’t affect our experience or our order. Freshly cooked haddock and chips, very good value with huge portions. I wish I lived in Deal so I could become a regular like Roger.

My first experience of gluten free fish and chips, the portions were huge. The batter was was light and crunchy the fish was fresh and moist the chips were delicious. My wife had non gluten free and was equally impressed. We took advantage of the delivery service , they arrived on time and everything was piping hot, paid the driver with a tap on his card reader , a excellent service. Local chippy. But so much more. Enthusiastic, young staff with positive energy and attitude. You can get gluten free F&C (fried in a different pan with no gluten in the oil from other batter). Excellent food (the fish is sourced from Billingsgate /Grimsby) and the cod is certified. They also do excellent pollock. Always busy and long may it be so if you are in Deal, don’t go to the ones on the front, walk 5 minutes and get a much better offer in College Road. But beware! The portion sizes are enormous. If you were tempted to ‘go large’ on chips, the portion would probably feed an entire family!

My friend and I stopped at the fryer tuck on the last evening of our stay in deal. We ordered 2 pieces of fish, which were duly cooked whilst we waited ( not long) the family that run the shop are very friendly and efficient. It's nice to find a lovely family concern that care about the customer,the produce that they sell,and have time to chat with strangers! The fish( haddock and cod) was beautiful, and the batter not too thick.we did not purchase chips, but I have to say they looked very yummy!! Pity we were returning home the next day, we would have gone again!!

Fantastic friendly staff that were extremely kind and helpful to us and the locals, knew the names of all of them. Plentiful amount of chips and we enjoyed the Savaloy sausage.Chicken nuggets for a fussy eater were scrumptious.

We’ve had fish and chips just twice from here. The staff are really charming, friendly and eager to please (the first time we ordered medium cod and they only had large so gave us large portions for the cheaper price). They’re chatty but not intrusive. The batter is marvellously light. I’ve no idea what they put in it but it’s not glutinous or stodgy like some fish batter can be. The chips are tasty, crispy and well cooked. My only ‘warning’ to other customers is that the portions are huge! So great value for money. They even seem to be friendly to the DFLs. We’ll continue to go back and will recommend to others (as it was recommended to us). Will also take friends who visit. I now rate it more highly than The Middle Street Fish Bar...
