Second time I've been here with the family and can't fault it at all food, service and surroundings all absolutely fantastic thank you to Elsie and the team

Sunday lunch for 4 people. 1x roast beef 2x roast Pork 1x nut/lentil roast. Came with roast potatoes roasted carrot,parsnip, cauliflower cheese, broccoli & red cabbage & all had Yorkshire pudding. Pipping hot, tasty & freshly prepared. A really great Sunday roast. Shared desserts. 1 x cheeses cake 1x Pecan pie & ice cream. Both really good 👌🏼 Friendly staff too. Will definitely be back again 👍🏼

Our Second visit here and we were not disappointed . The Staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. Some of our party arrived late but there was no issue raised by the Staff. The Food is great quality fresh cooked and tasty. Portions are perfect. The range of Beers and Wines make the whole experience one not to be missed. Would highly recommend a visit, and we will be returning. Thanks to you all for making our visit great.

OUTSTANDING Food with fantastic friendly service!!! We have dined at this amazing gem of a restaurant on numerous occasions with family and friends, as well as just my husband &I . The food is always first class, locally sourced produce, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented, so a massive thank you to George who is head chef ! Elsie and her fabulous team are front of house , they are so friendly yet efficient and nothing is a problem for them . The ambulance as well as the decor is so warm and inviting, in the winter the log fires roar, in the warmer weather one can dine alfresco ! On a final note ,my husband and my daughter arranged a surprise birthday lunch for me on Sunday , I was led to believe that just the four of us were having a celebration lunch together (sneakily ) when I entered the restaurant I was met by eighteen friends , balloons, beautifully decorated tables, all of the candles were lit in there sconces, I almost fled but Elsie &her team , who were clearly delighted at my response sprung into action ! Imagen 20 starters , home made broccoli leek &potato soup with soda bread &butter, Pan fried scallops,pea puree ,smoked bacon ,Balsamic, pea shoots( I choose this &omg the scallops were beautifully cooked and were scrumptious ) Buffalo chicken wings, Buffalo sauce, celery,blue cheese dip ! Only farm mushrooms ,garlic butter, rocket , parmesan, toasted sour dough ! I have no idea how they work the magic but all the different starters came out together ! As did all the main courses ! I have received so many messages and phone calls saying the food was absolutely wonderful and a couple of serious foodies who came fromLondon are booking their anniversary lunch with 8friends at the Ewe &lamb ! So I just want to say a massive thanks and a big hug for making my dayso special. Also the facet that that you are genuinely dog and Child friendly and not just tolerate 😢is a bonus xxxx

Just had a absolutely delicious meal here. The choice of Sunday roast meats is excellent. The lunch itself was including a variety of lovely vegetables ( red cabbage, broccoli cauliflower cheese & carrot )were presented well & icecreams & desserts were amazingly different. Recommend the plum & almond tart!! Staff were friendly & attentive. Will return again soon & highly recommend.

It was our first visit and although we'd read some good reviews we were taken aback by how good the food was. Full marks for presentation, quality and taste. We liked the way we and our Fox Terrier were made welcome; the service was great; prices reasonable and all together is was an enjoyable experience in a delightfully friendly British pub atmosphere.

Excellent experience at this spot in Rolvenden. Friendly service, good drinks and excellent food. I will make a point of returning here with as many as I can.

Me and my family visited this pub for more than 13 years now.We love this pub as is so close to us on and we have so many family memories,venues etc. We never been turned away like this evening when me,my partner and my child only wanted lite bites,happy sitting outside knowing they are fully booked told by waitress with black hair. I worked in this industry for more than 13 years,not even given some kind of options, even 20 minutes after restaurant was still empty I kind of find it bit disappointing. I don't normally write any kind of reviews (positive neither negative)but I felt bit mistreated this evening knowing that they could do better than that. Maybe I have better luck next time.

We all enjoyed an outstanding Sunday lunch at the Ewe and Lamb. First time we've been since new management. The food was delicious and we had friendly and efficient service. Thanks to all. Look forward to coming again soon.

Best soup we've ever had. And the bread ! Fresh, warm and crusty mini loaf, with proper butter. And such a lovely pub, and lovely people.

I and my friends and family have been to this lovely friendly pub on several occasions and we have enjoyed everything every time. Their food is always special, you are welcomed by Elsie and if you booked your name is on your table! George makes the most delicious Barnsley chops and puddings to die for! We went with a party of friends last evening. Elsie and her team gave us perfect service and George and his staff provided excellent food. We’ve been a few times and it’s always first class and nothing is too much trouble.

We had family Sunday lunch for a group of 8. The welcome was warm and particularly caring towards the elderly and disabled in our group. Service was friendly, attentive and efficient with good information given on the specials - waiting time between courses was spot on. The Sunday roast is excellent, beautifully cooked and plenty of it - despite our best efforts we were unable to clear the generous portions of accompanying veg. Will definitely be doing this again soon !

We visit here frequently as the food is always excellent. Elsie, George and the team are always welcoming and friendly. The food is of a very high standard and the menu has plenty of variety with a few different 'specials' thrown in each week which add a bit of extra choice and usually reflects what's currently in season or sourced locally. On this occasion we visited with friends for Sunday Lunch, who have special dietary requirements and these were catered for without any issue. The pub is also very dog friendly and has a lovely, cosy, warm atmosphere. I would highly recommend a visit!

Went for food last week and the menu was very limited and the food wasn’t what I would call value for money so that was a shame.

This is a great pub, serving great beer, great wine and excellent food. The specials of the day, Scallops for starters, and Mutton stew were superb. Also Scampi and chips were great. Great choices for kids as well. The whole idea place is what you want from a Kent pub and I cannot wait to go back. If you’re in this area it is a must.

Came here for lunch before going on to Hole Park to walk Jasper, our Dalmatian. I had the devilled kidneys to start, followed by fish and chips in a curry sauce. To finish Apple and Plum crumble. My Wife had cottage pie, followed by almond and plumb slice I think. All of which was superb. All the staff are pleasant and the Land Lady Elsie was most welcoming. It was all so good, that I've booked up for Sunday lunch and will be introducing my sons to this fine hostelry.

We joined the seafood evening and what a wonderful meal. George & his team are a superb team in the kitchen with Elsie & the front of house team always very friendly, attentive & professional. We are local & never disappointed when we eat at The Ewe & Lamb. Great to see stools fir locals at the bar too. A well frequented local pub.

My wife and I visited the Ewe and Lamb recently for an ad hoc dinner meal and some drinks. Food and service were excellent and we felt very welcome. Plenty of interesting choices on the menu as well and specials, interesting and really great quality fresh food. Good choice of beers too, local and big names. Nice relaxing place, and lovely people, proper village pub but good for everybody, local or otherwise.

Just returned from the perfect lunch experience. Charming old pub full of Kentish character. Hops on the ceiling, low beams, an open feeling yet cozy with nice table space. Wonderful Landlady who was a super host.Excellently stocked bar for every taste. We had a family meal for a memorial to our grandmother who lived next door, so a happy time and good food and service was what we hoped for and we got that in abundance.I had an incredible rump of lamb. Big portion and cooked perfectly how I asked for it, medium rare and crispy on the outside. It melted in the mouth. Clearly quality sourced meat which I found out was locally sourced.The staff were attentive and nice, coping very well with a full house. It looked the perfect place to prop up the lovely old bar as well as enjoy the best country pub food. We will return after this wonderful experience Thanks so much

Booked this at the last minute. Had the homemade Indian tasting menu. Great food and would definitely recommend. Sam was so friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Pub is attempting good things with keeping customers safe presently. It’s a place we frequented regularly over the years. However, food was disappointing this evening. Service even more so. Generally food prices seem to be £2 to £3 too high. We ordered second drinks, which never arrived. Home again within one and a half hours. Off our list now.

On holiday with my family and wanted to find a nice country pub for an evening meal came across this lovely pub and had a superb meal, good portion size and cooked to perfectionStaff really friendly and helpful.we had our dog with us and he was welcome too. Had a pint or two of Harvey's these guys know how to keep a good cellar one of the best pints I had in years.Would recommend if you fancy a good quality meal and beer.

It is fantastic that this local pub is still open during these really difficult times. We had a take away curry on Saturday and the food was really well prepared and tasty. The spices were great and the quality superb, Our son who was caught in lockdown with us said the food was better than he had tasted in some Indian Restaurants. The portions were generous and the collection wa seasy. We also had some of their famous pies and were not dissapointed, they were tasty and substantial. Support this local pub so they can pick up after these issues resolve themselves. Stay safe.

Since it changed hands a few years ago, I feel the standard of catering has deteriorated. Last time, I had the smallest portion of green veg imaginable. They had obviously run short. My fellow diners had plenty. I was annoyed, as staff did not compensate me.The dishes sound good but actually what you get is not good value considering generally inexpensive ingredients. However, it is all home prepared. Portions not that large.The ambiance and decor is lovely and tasteful.

Warm welcome on arrival at this lovely village Pub. What an English Pub should be. Great looking bar as you walk in and an attractive eating area too at the back. Staff were lovely and provided a separate Vegan menu for two of our party. Very helpful in checking dietary requirements with the Chef and when the food arrived everyone said how tasty it was. I'm not a Vegan so I had the seafood platter and pie of the day which were delicious. All meals on our table were beautifully cooked , very tasty and nicely presented. Service was great throughout and the bill was reasonable. Nice cosy ambience in the Pub . Highly recommended and so nice to find a venue with a dedicated and tasty Vegan menu. We will return.

Excellent food, varied children's meals at a great price and portion sizes were perfect for my hungry kids. Lovely ambiance with the open fire near by to our table. Boardgames also available so kept the kids entertained.

We often pop in for a few drinks and a bite to eat with friends. Always made to feel welcome. The staff are friendly and the landlady is equally as pleasant. On a few occasions she has gone above and beyond for us when we’ve ordered bar meals way past the cut off time. Even when busy she has made an effort to cook us what we’ve asked for. Simple things like that go along way and keep us coming back. Absolute 10/10 for Tessa and her great bunch of staff. Lovely country pub with open fires. Highly recommended to anyone in the area. Sadly, I’ve noticed a recent negative comment about the Ewe & Lamb and I can confirm that it is so far from the truth. Tessa is a wonderful landlady with Dan who is an extraordinary chef along with great bar staff.

This is our second visit in six months. The ale pies were tasty and the service friendly and efficient. The calamari starter tasted like fried bits of batter and was not worth 7.95. I guess we will be more careful to question the food choices in more detail

Popped in with friends for lunch, had passed a few times and thought the pub looked nice. It didn't seem very busy when we arrived which is never a good sign but we thought to give it a chance. Ordered our meals which took a while to arrive and when they did we found the food to be lukewarm and several of the plates were chipped. We also noticed that the pub was rather grubby. And don't get me started on the state of the toilets. When we complained to the waitress she just shrugged and didn't seem too surprised. A very disappointing visit. Poor food and surly staff. We definitely will not be back!

We went there on a Sunday afternoon to try the carvery after an overnight stay in nearby Cranbrook. As we eat out often I can honestly say that the food here was excellent and very reasonably priced. The staff were also very polite and welcoming and we will definitely return if we are in the area again.

We booked a table for 2 two weeks in advance as part of an anniversay celebration. As there were 2 sittings we booked for the earlier one at 12.30, on arrival we were seated by the front door which was left open making it too cold for us. We asked if we could move and were seated closer to the bar.We ordered drinks and starters.At the time we asked when we could go to the carvery and were told they would let us know in the meantime more and more people were coming into the pub,all of whom were sent to the carvery before us. By the time we were called there was very little left a few tail ends of beef and gammon. I asked them why and was told we were the last of this sitting and thats all they had left, although we were the first in the pub.

Friendly welcome good real ales & reasonable selection of wines. Delivery problems meant that all fresh fish dishes were not available on the night of our visit. Although good value for money and the service was good, the food served was at best average.

We have recently moved to the area and wanted to try out some pubs. Looked online and this one had a great reviews. We booked for the Friday night, pub is lovely as you walk in and staff very friendly. Food was brilliant and also catered very well for my little boy who has allergies, nothing was too much! The young lady who served us was brilliant. We enjoyed it so much, decided to head back for Sunday dinner with friends. Great welcome again and food lovely once again!!

Rang late morning and booked for my wife and I as we hadn’t been to this pub for a few years.

We’d been to the Ewe and Lamb when it was under its previous management. But it seems much more vibrant and friendly now. Huge range of wines by the glass, good guest beers (and Harveys always seems to be on), plus hearty food and big warm fires in winter. The landlady is making a big effort with events too - they deserve local support and they seem to be getting it. The pub was fuller than I have ever seen it before... cheers

Choice of 3 meats, ample vegetables, all superb quality and cooked to perfection. They called us up table by table after a short wait. Very full and satisfied. Quaint kentish pub restaurant.

Decided too try one of the Ewe and lambs famous taster nights and I must say the food was brilliant bruschetta too start with then ravioli risotto arancini ball lasagne came away feeling pleasantly full Great company great food and great staff

I scored this pub Very Good on account of the food, which was just that. The chef's specialities are his pies an they are indeed very good - wonderfully light shortcrust pastry, and a welcome change to find a pie actually full of steak/lamb/chicken as billed on the Menu

Lovely meal thank you. I was unable to manage a pudding which was a great shame as I was looking forward to it. The starters and main filled me so much. the food was absolutely gorgeous and the staff simply couldn't do enough for us. Cant wait to go again.

Really enjoyed our evening at the Ewe and Lamb. A very friendly local with good food and Harvey's beer in excellent condition. Clearly a focal point in Rolvenden Layne, where local people meet and chat. Pity it's 25 minutes from Kilndown - a bit far to drive home after an evening out. But we'll certainly go back.

Treated mum and dad to the Japanese taster night for birthday/father's Day. They were a a bit apprehensive as they hadn't been in 20yrs and previous taster nights at other venues had been lots of money with little food!

Decided on the spur of the moment to stop in for lunch. We found the service friendly and attentive The menu and specials catered for all needs My Steak and Ale pie was particularly good with soft tasty meat, mash and gravy with perfectly cooked veggies

We were staying at a local Airb&b; and had a choice of different places to go for a meal but liked the look of this ones menu the most so went there and were not disappointed! The staff were lovely, very welcoming and the food was absolutely excellent, compliments to the chef! Such a good atmosphere would definitely recommend.

Just come home from eating at The Ewe and Lamb in Rolvenden which we normally do at least once a month. Never have we been disappointed with a meal or the service here, always first class food and always service with a smile and a sense of humour. The main menu never disappoints and the specials are always to die for! The chef often comes to the table to tell us what he recommends before we order and the staff are always smiling and cannot do enough to for us. Highly recommended, you will struggle to find a more pleasant atmosphere or delicious meal in the local area. Thank you all so much!!

Tess & Ben have now owned the E&L; for two years. Continues to offer excellent food in great surroundings. We visited on a Sunday evening and had their "build your own steaks" menu, where you can choose your preferred cut, sauces, and sides to accompany it - excellent meat and choice of options.

We went here on my husbands birthday after hearing good reviews about it.

But for TA, we would have happily travelled on to somewhere on the main road. However, over a hot chocolate in Tenterden we saw how well regarded was the Ewe and Lamb. So off we went. Good choice made all the better by a sunny evening enabling us to sit and eat outside. We had a variety of dishes from the Thai vegetable curry to the burger and from the mushroom linguine the the cooked in breadcrumb Brie. All delicious - and such friendly service!

From the minute we walked in the door, the staff could not have been more polite, professional, friendly and welcoming. We went for the carvery which definitely surpassed our expectations. What a lovely little pub. Friendly and helpful staff. Food was absolutely amazing. All fresh and the tastiest thai curry I have ever had in my life. They catered for my allergy and nothing was too much trouble. Prices were really reasonable too.

Vegan, Indian and Thai taster nights have been fabulous. Menu's have been cleaverly put together and the food and service are a standard above the norm. Can't wait for the next one. Big thanks

Lovely lunch out with hubby had the Sunday carvery of mixed meat ,Yorkshire puddings ,roast potato and numerous vegetables yummy heavy creme bridle for dessert

We just had a wonderful Christmas Dinner and met some lovely people. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere very family oriented. It was like being with family. My wife and I really fancied a proper home made meal. We often drive and explore new places and we come across the Ewe & Lamb.

A weekend away lead us to the Ewe and Lamb ( pre booked ) - what an amazing find, tucked away down Rolveden Layne nestled in between residential houses. Everything from the staff, service, atmosphere and the food was spot on. I am quite critical by nature but could not find fault from the gorgeous steak and kidney pie through to the cloud like sticky toffee pudding. As I write this I could easily drive back the 90 miles for the same again !

We’ve just had a lovely evening in this village pub having a vegan taster menu which was absolutely brilliant. Great atmosphere, nice staff, no time pressure, good prices. What a pleasure. Highly recommend for vegans as the selection and choices were very good and inventive, not at all the normal stuff restaurants turn out for vegans.

My wife and I took a short break in Rolveden Layne, using it a base for travelling around Tenterden and the local area. We visited the Ewe and Lamb on our first evening and enjoyed an excellent dinner. Service polite and prompt, food delicious, modest pricing. We enjoyed it so much, we went again for lunch the following day, after a vineyard experience at Chapel Down (separate review). Highly recommended, we would have no hesitation in recommending or visiting again.
