Quite possibly the best pub meal I've ever had! A small tucked-away pub, with plenty of street parking. a good atmosphere, very attentive staff, and spotless. The food was superb!

I think the young and possibly inexperienced staff are a big asset. They were unfailingly positive and keen. But lack of experience or confidence means they sometimes didnt quite "gel" and so the service to customers was a little erratic. (Different servers arriving to ask the same question. Drink arriving for a different table. Pressure to make dessert choices moments after another server had provided the menu.) Hard to criticise such enthusiasm and they will undoubtedly get there very quickly. The important part is, they seem to care. The food was good. If it was on my doorstep I would visit regularly. But not a destination pub.

Apart from the pretentious Blanchbait ( rather than whitebait) the food was delicious and the staff are truly wonderful. The king prawn saganaki was superb. A memorable evening with old friends thanks to a great pub restaurant

Pleasant atmosphere and location. Parking a little limited but not a big problem. Busy fora Tuesday night , but friendly prompt service. Very good draught bitter at right temperature and a very tasty PinotGrigio. Imaginative and wide menu, far better than the average. Starters of pate and avocado with prawns were both of exceptional quantity an quality. Main course of chicken kebab was amongst the best ever. Three skewers of tender succulent chicken breasts served with rice and big side dish of Greek salad, (like being back in Crete). Did not need a sweet.Coffee excellent.

Four of us ate here last night and without doubt this was some of the best food we have had in a pub for a long while. All meals were hot and there was plenty on the plate. So full that we had to say no to dessert which was a shame. Lovely friendly staff and spent a great time chatting with Leo. This guy is very passionate about food and it shows in the menu. Although we are fairly local this is the first time we have visited, but it won't be the last. Our guests have eaten in many places around the world, but both agreed this was one of the best. Keep up the good work and we'll be seeing you again soon.

My family and I booked last minute for a mid week dinner to celebrate our eldest daughters primary school graduation. This place did not disappoint. Plenty of very helpful staff, beautiful and well presented dishes and a very happy atmosphere. The general manager and several staff members made a lovely fuss over our youngest child who just turned one. Nothing was too much trouble. I'm so glad we found this little gem. The food tastes AMAZING.

Just wanted to say a grateful thanks to Leo and his staff for a fantastic lunch for my Mum’s birthday. For Leo and his staff nothing was too much trouble and my Mum (this was the first time she had been out since October 21) had a great lunch (the food was excellent as usual) and a very special birthday. We visit here often, just the two of us or with friends. Great food and beer. Friendly efficient staff. Great little outdoor heated booths. We recommend this place.

Beautifully presented food, very good quality and incredibly tasty. A wonderful very varied menu, we had the Pork Loin and Rack of ribs. The meat was succulent, the sauces full of flavour and the vegetables cooked just right.The specials for starter included Saganaki, mussels, chicken goujons as well as the usual favourites in the standard menu catering for almost everyone including, children and vegetarians.We were especially pleased with the very warm welcome we received, even though it was our first time visiting this pub with friends. Leo came over to chat with us and Mario was very cheerful and fun. Looking forward to going back very soon!!

we used to live in the Middle East and since back to UK, we didn't found a Turkish restaurant giving back real flavours.We have now found it! Brilliant and tasty food a share platter for 4 big enough to fill 6 people. Very acceptable prices and delivered hot and on time.

First visit here for lunch with our nine month old grandson. We received a very warm welcome from Leo and his excellent staff - nothing was too much trouble. My wife had the Greek Chicken skewers and I had the Fish & Chips - both excellent. The menu is extensive with house specials on a blackboard. Highly recommended.

We really like eating at The Derby Inn when we go to stay with our son and his family. The welcome is genuine and the food, beer and wine is good. The staff are also very kind to our grandchildren.

Our recent two visits confirm that this really worth a visit. The two chefs really know their stuff and create an imaginative and broad menu that fulfils expectation. I thoroughly enjoyed the Risotto and Garlic prawns for starters. The fish Duo was very good as was the slow-cooked belly of pork and burgers. The ambience, either inside or out, is excellent and the service delightful. We will return.

This was our first visit to this excellent pub,We took a friend for lunch and from the moment we arrived we were met with a friendly smile and welcome including our little puppy! As soon as we were seated menus and the specials board were presented and drinks ordered.The menu was fabulous, full of variety and imaginative meals to tempt you.Two of us had the greek chicken skewers with lovely side salads and divine tzatziki and one seafood linguine which was full of fish, tasty and wonderfully presented.Sadly too full for the desserts.Special thanks to Jessica for her attentiveness and for the bowl of water for our puppy.Highly recommend a visit if you enjoy eating delicious food and staff that actually want you to enjoy your visit.We will most certainly be back.Thanks to everyone!

Lovely garden and great food! Visited one evening for dinner with a friend and the food was lovely. Very helpful stuff.

Went for lunch on the 3rd June, excellent food, friendly staff, & was entertained by the cocktail guy, 6 ladies, they even gave us blankets to sit on the grass, it was a fun day & they were very hospitable. Best wishes , we will call again.xx

I don’t know where to start...the food was delicious, the staff were so kind and courteous and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable with our table. The children had a lovely time playing with the climbing frame and looking at the pretty decorated barrels.The food was delicious, I had the sea bass which was mouthwateringly good! The birthday girl had the pork belly, which she loved, others had ribs, pie and chicken goujons for the children...plates were completely clean at the end of it. We would 1000% come back, we saw reviews on here which made us decide to book and I can say without a doubt, you will not be disappointed!! I can’t wait to go back!!!Oh and they all sang happy birthday to my sister when the cake came out which was just amazing, absolutely made her day ❤️❤️. Thank you

Good choice of drinks, food what can say 100% delicious, if you want excellent service this is the place to visit, owner and his team are very helpful and polite and they give you excellent service .

We were very impressed with this venue.The Staff were extremely helpful,the toilets very clean and the garden well lawned.We will be making another booking again soon.The price for our 2 courses was very fair,well presented and cooked to perfection.If you find yourself in the vicinity i strongly encourage you to visit.

We ordered a takeaway Sunday roast lunch for 2 adults and 2 children on Sunday 28th February. Ordered on the day.The best takeaway and restaurant Sunday roast we have EVER had.Everything about it was right. Fresh ingredients, full of flavour, portion size, etc.We even got two free deserts with the adult meals.Had a chat with the owner upon collection. They have been there since August 2020.Highly recommended and we WILL be back!

Had a Sunday beef roast takeaway on Sunday 7th February 2021. Absolutely excellent and good value. The meat was succulent and fresh and not overcooked. Supplied in good packaging, which we supplemented with a hot box for the collection. They do offer delivery, if required.

Wow thank you Derby Inn, had a takeaway tonight and it was delicious, bacon and cheese burgers and Greek chicken skewers. Good to see there was a 20% discount for collection I think all pubs should do this. Will definitely be ringing them again for a takeaway

We came here for the second time since it reopened and it was on Wednesday 4th November, so the "Last Supper" before lock-down #2.The restaurant was naturally packed to the rafters as everyone had had the same idea as us of getting one last meal in before lock-down.The food was really good and I personally had the Beef Stroganoff from the specials board, my wife had the ribs as they had been so good the last time we came in.What got my attention though twas the service. This is a new and very young team running service here and this is the first time I have seen this place full in the 18 years I have been coming here under various ownership. The team serving us did a fantastic job and nothing was too much trouble. They were clearly rushed off their feet but that didn't fluster them and they worked brilliantly as a team all night.I wish the Derby the all the best at what must be a very difficult time. This has always had the possibility of being a really good pub/restaurant and I do hope they come out of this crisis the other side.One tip I would give them. The location of this pub is not good and they will not get much passing trade, so make sure you market yourself well.

Just enjoyed a delicious Sunday takeaway roast. Excellent value as usual with the meal ready for collection 15 mins after ordering.

Very welcoming pub. Visited for our 35th wedding anniversary, had a lovely meal and were made to feel most welcome. We specially asked for Tournedos Rossini as it had been on the specials board on a previous visit. Really enjoyed it! Good food, lovely atmosphere.

They have today started to offer a carry-out service, caused by lockdown restrictions. I happened to be their first customer and although they were clearly still feeling their way and there was a short delay I was impressed at the standard of service, the menu on offer and the quality of food. A very friendly and efficient bunch of people. Doing business with them was a pleasure.

Excellent food available as take away or can be delivered. Beers als available and a choice of coffees. Great service in these difficult times. Well done guys.

.Apart from our server Jessica who was oustanding, the rest of our experience was terrible. The host/manager had to be reminded how to wear his mask. Non of the tables had been removed for safe distancing. The bar was busy with people sitting at the bar, so no table service. The only employees wear a face mask correctly were the young ladies. We felt very vunerable during our visit. The food was ok but nothing that great. We will never go back

This place is fabulous. I have never been so welcomed or well looked after in any restaurant I've ever been to. The lovely owner and his staff go completely above and beyond (big thanks to Jessica too for the wonderful service). Now the food...just wow. We tried a variety of dishes and all were delicious. The seabass (recommended by Jessica) was the best meal I have had in a VERY long time. I am not one to leave Tripadvisor reviews (this is my first) but I couldn't not leave a review after the visit we had. I genuinely cannot recommend this place highly enough - it surpasses every expectation of what a village pub and restaurant should be and we're very lucky to have it on our doorstep.Please also ignore the completely false review by Tripadvisor user Matt C who makes it a habit of posting false and scathing reviews on establishments - including those he has never been to. Do not let his fake review put you off this absolute gem of a place.Thank you again to the entire team at the Derby Inn for making our visit so special. We now count ourselves as regulars and will be returning time and time again.

Had my Birthday meal at the Derby with my family. What an absolute lovely meal, food was outstanding in every way. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. The beer served was at a high standard too. Would highly recommend, well done The Derby Inn!

We stopped in at The Derby Inn for lunch on our way to London. As we were on a relatively set schedule I contacted the Inn the previous day to ask if we could pre-order our food so it would be ready more or less when we arrived. They said this would not be a problem and were so accommodating, saying we could phone the following morning to let them know. They were true to their word and our food arrived on time. The food was delicious! We ordered starters of Pâté, Golden Visited Brie and Cheesy Garlic Bread followed by Fish and Chips, Steak and Ale Pie (one with mash and one with chips) and Mushroom Risotto.The staff were very welcoming and polite.This place is just a few minutes off the M3 junction 5 so also ideal if you are looking for somewhere to stop to break up your journey

Visited for lunch with mother, not at all impressed with the service, wanted a decent ale with my food, very disappointed with the selection, the guy sitting next to us, his beer looked cloudy and flat, as a CAMRA member didnt bother to ask or taste one, had a soft drink instead, food was bland and unexciting, waited ages to order, eventually after nearly walking out a member of staff appeared, arrogant and rude, was going to have a three course meal, just had a starter, paid an over priced bill and left, why do people visit this establishment, whats all the fuss about, NEVER AGAIN, go somewhere else

Incredible food with a variety of different dishes for all. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. A breathe of fresh air compared to the pubs around the area, just a genuinely awesome place now. 10/10

A couple of minutes from the M3. We visited for lunch enroute to London. Staff where friendly and welcoming. Service overall was excellent. Good choices on the menu at very reasonable prices. The food was beautifully cooked and presented. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Derby Inn.

Had two meals here the week. Fillet steak and Salmon steak. Both spot on. You could not get better in mich starred place. Staff are just great. Kaleb is the best cocktail mixer in hampshire! Cannot recommend highly enough.

Well where do we start. Excellent,Excellent,Excellent Food amazing. All staff very friendly can’t do enough for you. John had the apple & sultans crumble today & said it’s the best he’s ever tasted 10/10. Such a great atmosphere too. Leo you are doing a grand job. Credit to you and your staff

One of the best and finest pubs I’ve ever met. All the staff (Leo, Jess, Alex, Frances and Emily) all did a brilliant job at keeping me and my table happy. They never stopped with the fantastic customer service and checking we all were okay. The food was of high standard and absolutely beautiful! I would seriously recommend you to visit this pub and enjoy the company and good food. Pub atmosphere at its best! I had the prawns to start which was cooked to perfection then sirloin steak with chips for main. Finished with the special of Mille Feuille. One of the best desserts I’ve ever tasted!

this pub has a great atmosphere. The staff here are more than welcoming. The owner, Leo hosts great hospitality making every customer feel at home. Caleb the bar manager makes the best cocktails i have had. The waitresses and waiter's which I have met (jess, Francis and elex) have done a superb job and I would highly recommend. I have eaten from the main menu and also their Sunday roast which have both been exceptional. Everything from the veg to the meat is amazing. The pub is super clean, warm and the atmosphere is great. I will recommend to everyone and where I can even strangers. Spot on this place deserves to go far

Visited the Derby for the first time after reading good reviews on trip advisor, we were not disappointed, we had an excellent lunch served by the equally excellent Caleb, who took time to impart friendly knowledge of beers and food. We look forward to returning soon.

The best pub i have ever been too hands down ! Hats off the manager Leo I have never felt more relaxed and welcomed into a pub in my life. Can't wait to try the roast Sunday and looking forward to the great service from the excellent staff!!! Fantastic well done guys

Never been a fan of this establishment, heard it had new management so i stopped off for a pint, to give it another go, just generally an unwelcoming atmosphere as entering, staff seemed pleasant enough, disappointed to see Andwell Brewerys tasteless beer on tap, there were many drunks in here using foul language, NEVER return again sorry, seemed like a sketch out of "Shameless".

We visited to celebrate a belated special birthday that had been put on hold due to the pandemic. Everyone at the Derby Inn helped to make the occasion really special!!! Lovely food and a good selection of gins! What more could you ask for?!

Visited this restaurant once before and it was good. Went again last weekend and it was even better. The staff (Emily-Rose, Jess and Caleb) were absolutely brilliant. The service was marvellous, friendly, and professional too - a rare balance we really appreciated. They offered excellent advice about how best to enjoy the food we ordered and had great wines to go with the meal. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection as were the vegetables. We ordered little extras not on the menu and they were only too happy to oblige. It was a fantastic time and heartily recommended.

Had a meal here yesterday evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Having read the reviews and taken our daughter's recommendation I had high expectations of this venue 'under new management'. I booked on-line via 'OpenTable' which asks what occasion/reason (our anniversary) you have for choosing this venue. This hadn't been picked up by the team. It would have been nice if it had been acknowledged. It is worth noting that all the staff were beyond enthusiastic (in particular Emily-Rose). This was admirable, but only if matched with excellent food and service as well. After being taken to our table, we were shown the 'Specials Board' by Leo, the manager, who did a great job 'selling' the Greek Chicken Skewers. We were then left to look at the menu. Our order was then taken by Emily-Rose. We ordered the baked Camembert for two to start with, Greek chicken skewers and a quiche for mains. A little while later the waiter returned to our table to say there was no more Greek chicken left. A bit frustrating given the upselling by Leo but I chose a chicken burger as an alternative. Some 35 minutes passed and our starter had still not arrived. My wife's wine had run out and I was getting hungry as it was over an hour since we had arrived. Then my wife's quiche arrived, with Emily-Rose, but not my main, while we had to explain to her that we had not had our starter yet. Some shuffling around (mild embarrassment!) and a further wait occurred before our starter arrived. Starter eaten and our table was cleared by the waiter and our main courses brought to us. Both meals were edible but 'dry'. I guess they may have gone under the warmer while our starter was sorted out rather than prepare fresh ones? Frankly, I was a bit underwhelmed by the whole experience at this stage. We had more than enough time to observe what was going on while waiting for our starter. The communication between the kitchen and the front of house staff appeared poor. We were informed that the regular chef was not on duty which may account for this? Equally, there did not appear to be any real consistency between the waiting staff attending our table or that of others. The result of this was that we were asked the same question more than once. Given that it was busy this doubling up highlighted inefficiency and something the team could well have done without. May be numbering the tables and ensuring the same waiter/waitress attends you throughout would assist with this? Ultimately, the responsibility lies with the Manager and the Chef to ensure the customer experience leads to patrons returning. As the saying goes 'You only get one opportunity to make a first impression'. The Derby Inn, won't be on my list of recommended local eateries nor will I be concerned with returning a second time. There are better out there.

Visited after a stay-cation as a convient stop off on the way home and was very happy we did! Our waitress Emily - Rose did a fantastic job and I ended up having the steak and Ale pie which was one of the best I have ever had. A good selection of ales and an owner clearly passionate about food. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

Myself and a friend booked a meal here - we'd been before but now it's under new management. Right from the beginning the experience was good with friendly and fast responses with booking. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. The staff were amazing. Really friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had the best experience. Jess and Liam looked after us well and gave great recommendations for meal choices. The food didn't disappoint! I had Sea Bass from the specials board and my friend had the steak and ale pie - both so good!! Then of course, we were tempted with pudding - but we were very restrained and shared a sticky toffee pudding! This had been made earlier in the day and had that wonderful homemade taste to it! A winner for sure! Toward the end of the evening the new owner came to chat to us, and told us a little about his story and his hopes for the pub. We had such a good evening, and will definitely be back! If you are looking for somewhere a little special, where you are made to feel you actually matter, and want to enjoy a freshly cooked and extremely tasty meal - then book a table now! My husband and I had lunch at The Derby on Bank Holiday Monday. We decided to give it a try as we heard it has changed hands again and we were delighted with our meal. The new menu isn’t huge but it covers a lovely selection of food with enough choice to cater for most tastes. I had tiger prawns & my husband had whitebait to start then I had mushroom risotto & my husband had garlic chicken breasts. All the food was really well cooked and my risotto was one of the best I’ve tasted in this country. There’s a good wine list that again isn’t massive but I like that as sometimes too many choices are overwhelming. We will definitely be going back and have already recommended The Derby to friends. I really hope it’s a success this time, it was such a lovely experience.

Sadly I will not be returning as the experience I have had was poor.Firstly, there was no sign of any 'track and trace' measures in place as no personal details were requested.On a positive note, the welcome from the owner at the bar was warm and friendly.The menu was however very limited but I ordered the Classic burger priced at £12.90. The menu states a “handmade 8oz burger” but the meal I was served contained a very thin and dry beef patty within a dry bun. Having eaten many burgers in my time which are both juicy and full of flavour, and at this price point, char-grilled, sadly this was in my opinion, certainly not value for money.I would have raised this with our waitress, but we didn’t see her again as she went off on a break without informing us who would be taking over her work area.When the bill was paid by credit card, the incorrect receipt was emailed with someone else’s meal details. I tried to reach out via email to The Derby Inn management who incidentally are new owners, so I thought that they would be keen to engage with their customers to ensure repeat business but I’ve not heard back to my follow-up email. The correct receipt was eventually emailed but with no explanation or apology.This experience has left me feeling undervalued as a customer, so I cannot recommend it and will not be returning.

What an absolutely perfect evening. Went out for an evening meal with a friend and this pub was easy to Get to, just off junction 5 on the M3.Booked a table, no problem.Walked in and The the atmosphere was so inviting, staff so friendly.Looking at the menu, there was so much choice, all home made and even a specials board. Good selection of drinks.The food was scrumptious, staff on hand to offer advice if you were stuck on what to choose.Wide selection of starters, try the cheesy garlic bread, it’s to die for xMain meals anything from bangers and mash, burgers or risotto.And then the puddings, just go and try yourself, they are amazing.A big thank you to Jess and Liam who made the evening, their service was impeccable, nothing was too much trouble and they were always on hand if needed.The Eat out to help out will resume on the 7 September until the end of the month, well worth a visit. I am going back to make my way through that menu.

We got there and the place was super busy which is always a great sign. The food was brilliant and the service was fantastic. The owner was very welcoming and all the waiters were super friendly and helpful. We went to try the Derby as we had heard ownership had changed and we will definitely be going back. Being very local, it’s lovely to have such a great place to go that’s within walking distance.

Me, my boyfriend and our friends booked a table this evening for dinner and were all absolutely blown away by the food and the service. A good choice of food on the menu with the food being flavoursome and freshly cooked. The service was impeccable which help create a lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend and look forward to coming back soon!

Visited on a busy early evening being the last Eat Out to Help out day, but the service was friendly, efficient and fast. We shared a deep fried brie starter, which had 2 pieces, so easy to share, followed by 1 fish and chips and 1 chicken burger. Everything was well cooked and fresh. I will avoid the table we had, next time, as it was too cramped and small next to a pillar with not enough room to sit facing each other. The next 2 people who came in got a table for 4 next to us. The luck of the draw as all the other tables looked OK !

I booked the Derby for my daughters birthday via OpenTable some time ago for. She specifically wanted to go here. I confirmed the email and text message which came yesterday from OpenTable that we would attend. However this afternoon the Derby cancelled our booking, no explanation. I understand that circumstances change for no end of reasons such as staff difficulties, food shortages etc but having no explanation was not ideal. Even more odd is that I can still book places for tonight via OpenTable. We would happily have moved to a later time.

Stopped in on way back from camping trip in New Forest. Super convenient, only 2 mins from M3.We had a really friendly young staff team looking after us outside in the garden. We were in a group and with kids wasn't the easiest to take orders and deal with chaos but they were so helpful and took everything in their stride. Food was all freshly made and all fab. Vastly exceeding expectations after a poor experience the day before elsewhere and tbh we weren't expecting too much having chosen location for convenience, but that's not doing it justice as it was really superb..We took advantage of last day of Eat Out to Help Out, but would have happily paid full price and we'll definitely be factoring in a stop next time we are planning routes down this way.Our main waitress, whose name I unfortunately didn't get, mentioned the landlord is continuing to fund deals himself into September - he definitely deserves your support if looking for somewhere in this area.What a great find.Highly recommend.

Dropped in for lunch when travelling on M3, great service. They were busy and the waiter let us know the mains would be a while to manage our expectations and suggested a bread basket to keep us going. Food was lovely and well worth the wait. So convenient if travelling in the area would definitely recommend

Went for Sunday lunch to meet friends who were travelling up the M3. I'm very pleased we chose The Derby. Really friendly staff and lovely food.

Having not eaten out for a while, we've been making use of the Government Eat Out to Help Out scheme in recent weeks. Generally we've been impressed with the measures the places we've visited have had in place to keep us safe. However, we were disappointed that the Derby Inn did not match up to the other places we've eaten in this respect. There was nothing majorly wrong, just various little things (no staff were wearing masks - but were getting very close to take orders, tables seemed very crammed together, staff were not following the one way system when showing customers to their tables), all of which meant that we didn't feel particularly safe / comfortable.We were also disappointed with the food. We both went for the Salmon and Asparagus quiche, but found that the cheese in the quiche overpowered everything and it was impossible to taste the Salmon or the Asparagus.It wasn't a bad evening, but it also wasn't a good one.

Just returned from a fantastic meal out. We took advantage of the eat out scheme but would happily pay full price. Had the best steak I have had for a long time and our waitress- Emily Rose- was attentive and delightful. All the staff were polite and welcoming which created a lovely atmosphere and we will definitely return.

Had a lovely evening here. The decor of the pub, both inside and out, is cosy and attractive. The food was delicious and the staff, without exception, were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be coming back. Really pleased to have another great local pub to choose from.

We have been waiting for this pub to reopen for a while as we have been searching Hook for a good local for far too long.The new manager and his staff give you a genuine welcome on arrival (not like other pubs in the village) and we were shown to our table. Garden has clearly been cleaned up and in a lovely space to dine in.Served at the table and the waiting staff were very attentive. Food arrived hot and well presented and was absolutely delicious. We will return soon and hopefully people will support the new management they deserve to succeed.

We reserved table for 2 people, we were greeted at the bar, shown to our table (was a beautiful evening so we were seated outside) staff polite, courteous. We both ordered steak & ale pie......both cleared our plates....the food absolutely delicious. Highly recommend we will be back

I hope this will be taken as constructive feedback. Had seen great local reviews and wanted to support local businesses so we booked a table. Upon arrival we ordered drinks and advised we had a table booked, our name was not not taken or a credit card requested.We were shown to a table outside and told our order would be taken at the table. Nothing forthcoming so we went Inside to order. After waiting for 20 minutes at the bar, (due to only one person doing the drinks and food order, despite other members of staff standing around), we were advised there was an hour and a half wait for food,, the place wasn’t packed. We decided we had had enough and left (others also leaving) As we had had drinks, we went to the bar to pay but we’re advised drinks were on the house due to the issues we had encountered, appreciated but disappointed this was necessary.There were plenty of members of staff but no-one appeared to have specific jobs, tables were not cleared of glasses/plates. Also it appeared staff didn’t know which tables to go to, maybe a numbering system would help?There needs to be more organisation and systems in place.Difficult to rate the food when we didn’t have any, so have gone with average.We will return but will give it a few months when hopefully service etc will have improved.

We visited for lunch, I had the vegan mushroom risotto, my husband had ribs and my son had the quiche. We all enjoyed our food very much. Staff were very friendly. Only day six of opening. Good luck to Leo and Dina on your new venture.

We went for dinner tonight and were very impressed. The new owners, Leo and Dina, have only been open for a week and they’re doing so well! The food was excellent and the waiting staff efficient and friendly. We had lots of banter with Caleb and Emily-Rose. We shall be back!

Recently re-opened and did not disappoint. Bar staff very welcoming. Ordered the Calamari, Brie and bread board...delicious! It was very quiet (Saturday) as everyone is taking advantage of the August eat out campaign.......We will be returning soon! Newlyns farm shop is next door and you don't want to miss a quick mooch around there either!Thanks to all and we will see you soon!

Called in just for drinks, ordered Chardonnay served warm and a rather poor example, staff pleasant, bar clean and tidy. Really trying hard but need to improve on deliverance

After a long day out with young children we had little hope of finding anywhere to eat at short notice outside, but a table was available and they said they had just opened 5 days ago so we’re eager to please. We appreciated they were still finding their feet with orders and it wasn’t perfect, but they totally made every effort and rectified any mistakes swiftly and with every politeness. The garden was family friendly and the children’s had a great time on the swings Good food at good prices, the sausage meal was a proper winner! Will defo come again, good luck guys in your new venture!!

Re-opened ... wow with a big WowTurned up on Thursday eve the garden was quiet full but restaurant was not busy but that was due to the weather ( Stunning )Had a couple of drinks then ordered food ... steak and the Cod both very nice and service was excellent. The new owner Leo is from the steak house in Farnham and I have been there also both very good but Leo will go further and beyond to please u .... good vibes about the place now and from my experience he will do good there because he is very experience not like the other clowns they have had over the last 4 years ! We enjoyed a wonderful date lunch today. Very friendly service without being obtrusive. Food was excellent, local produce and very well cooked. Great real ale. Although I advised them to do Hophead rather than Green King IPA. Owner is obviously passionate about service and local good produce. We will be back very soon

King prawn starter was actually tiny cooked prawns in a sauce. Lamb chops were ok but a bit chewy. Rice was really salty . It was edible and ok but no way the best Turkish food experience with is a shame . Not many people there . Average

We heard about this place after a visit to their sister restaurant in Lasham. The food is amazing, and that’s coming from someone who grew up in the Middle East! The staff are really friendly without being overbearing and the Turkish wines (especially the Chankaya) are delicious. Great to have a restaurant of this calibrate in our neighbourhood. We’ll be back!!

We had lunch here today with friends and were all pleasantly surprised by this new version of The Derby. We were aware it had recently changed to a Turkish restaurant so decided to give it a try. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overly pushy. The menu was extensive with mostly Turkish food but some steaks & burgers. We all had something Turkish and loved our choices. The beer choices were limited but the Turkish bottled beer my husband had was delicious. We chatted to the waitress at the end of our meal and she explained they also run The Golden Pot at Lasham which is very successful. All their Turkish food is sourced from Turkey but their steaks are British. We will definitely be going back and will recommend it to friends.

This is no longer a steakhouse although claims to still do steaks on menu, however the staff fail to mention this or that it’s now a Turkish restaurant (Istanbul Restaurant)when booking for a family lunch. On arriving, no atmosphere, 1 other table in use and no lager or beer on tap, only expensive bottles of warm Peroni (£6 each). Ordered food, then told no fillet steak but if we chose a kebab it was the same meat. Waitress rude and blamed chef for everything. Paid for drinks and left.

Been to the new incarnation of the Derby, now Istanbul restaurant. What a transformation, just amazing.

It was cold, where once we had a country pub with roaring fire, now an unheated space that required coats be kept on in early December. We asked if the radiators might be put on, they weren't.The music...if you can call it that, for about half an hour, on loop we were forced to listen to a largely percussive piece with no melody before suddenly the track finally changed and thereafter improved greatly; as if someone had finally noticed there was a problem.There is a lot on the menu which is not always a good sign but we had sharing plates to start which were very good, we ordered 3 between 7 of us and that worked well.Main courses were not so good.I ordered Kleftiko, described as "lamb leg, spiced and sauced, served with rice", I was given lamb shank, in gravy on mashed potato. I pointed out the error and was told "the rice is coming". I didn't want rice _and_ potatoes...for that matter I didn't want gravy, this was supposed to be a Turkish dish. When I queried this again I was told, "that's how we serve it here". They agreed to take it off the bill.My daughter's "home made Lasagne" was almost flat (?) and was served with a huge portion of chips (not disclosed on the menu) that she didn't want. My partner and my Father each had what amounted to adequate plates of stew but no vegetables. One of the kids had roast Lamb but left most of it; the roast potatoes were hard and the rest unappetising.The one dish done well was fish, a generous full sea-bass, well-cooked.Even if the food had all been good I would suggest it overpriced.Fix the ambience, there are occasional Turkish touches but it still looks like a country pub. Either really go for it or at least light the fire and make it cosy in the winter. Sort that music out...what even was that track that went on for 30 minutes?Cut the menu down to what you can do well and don't serve up a pre-prepared lamb shank in gravy as Kleftiko.Do it all much, much better to justify those prices.

We were just passing by and didn't know it was now a Turkish resturant but we weren't disappointed. They do a roast and it was delicious, the best I have had in a long time. We had the beef and it was cooked perfectly, nice & thick and most of all very tasty. Not tight on potion size, plus yorkshire pudd was amazing. We were so impressed we plan to go back to actually have the Turkish food, lots of choice plus steak and burgers if you have people who don't want local food. My husband had the Turkish Coffee too and says it was fab, plus a couple of Turkish delights to go with. All in all it was a pleasant delight, we will be back, appartley they have belly dancers on a Saturday and you need to book as not a massive resturant and we were advised to book as they get booked quite far in advance. £13.95 for Sunday lunch worth every penny. It's only been open 3 weeks and can see once people been word of mouth will get people in. Will let you know when we have Turkish food.

Exceptional Turkish food great service perfect for families friendly staff. Best meal in some time .

My wife and I popped in for a quick lunch having seen the new sign whilst driving by. They do a lunch menu but instead we chose to have a hot and cold meze and shared it all up.Really impressed with our meal, lovely food and good, quick service. Will definitely head back one evening and do the full evening experience some time soon.Give it a try!

Did not realise the establishment had changed hands and was now serving Turkish and mixed menu. Food was delicious and fresh, plenty of choices including steaks and burgers if preferred. Staff very attentive , good wine list. Will certainly return again, as will our friends.

Have been here many times before when it was simply the Derby Inn and only found out it had changed hands when we came to book for Saturday night dinner, with the food changing from simple steakhouse to Turkish. So we thought we’d still go and delighted we did. There was a belly dancer when we arrived which added to the entertainment of the evening. The food was great and service spot on. Very good range of food. Will definitely be coming again.

Visited for lunch, thinking it was a steakhouse but saw it became the Istanbul restaurant about a week ago. Huge menu, lots of Turkish options as well as steaks, burgers and fish. We had spicy sausage, kofta, mixed grill and mixed shish. All the dishes were full of flavour and the service was great. Highly recommend, so nice to have something different from the standard pub fayre.

Popped in at about 14:30 on a Wednesday afternoon, very warm welcome from the owner. Checked out the menu we could have chosen anything and been happy. We went for the Chateaubriand - what a brilliant meal, nothing was too much bother. Best steak for a very long time.. if you are passing at anytime drop in you will not be disappointed.

I wish our experience matched with so many others written here but unfortunately it didn't. We visited a few weeks ago in the height of the summer for drinks and food, we had walked from Hook so were in dire need of refreshment when we arrived. Unfortunately the first thing to greet us as we entered was a huge swarm of flies that we had to side step around to get to the bar to order our drinks. Service was fine, nothing to write home about but not bad. We started with our drinks outside (hoping to escape the flies) but moved inside to order food. It was too hot for a roast for us so we both settled on burgers, hoping as a 'steakhouse' they'd be impressive.

Beautiful menu, awesome food and wonderful people. Treated us like we were royalty and made our evening very special. That is all ❤️

What a good find, I am not sure that it should be called a Steak house, none of us chose steak , we had differing dishes, all of which were excellent. The beers and wines were good too as was the friendly service.

Quick stop off on route four lunch.the staff where charming and food as tasty and sensibly priced. My colleagues said that the beear was also good

Came for a catch up with family visiting from New Zealand, table of 6 we all ordered steaks, they were all cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic, one small hiccup with a forgotten coffee but never mind. Will return again!
