I'd been with my partner a couple times before; July '21 for dinner and Feb '23 for a roast which had both been very enjoyable, both with atmosphere and food and so chose it as the restaurant for my birthday meal with family this year. Now, I'm not sure if it's changed hands in that time but unfortunately, we were really disappointed this time round. The veg was hard, totally under-cooked and the Yorkshire puddings were rock hard and chewy, seemingly microwaved rather than fresh. This means we will definitely NOT be returning for a roast, but also consider eating elsewhere generally.

We visited for Sunday lunch and sat in Meade Hall. (2 adults and 2 kids). Me and my two kids had to sit and wait for 20 minutes in the restaurant, as the car park was so rammed my husband had to wait in the car for people to leave. Fortunately I’d come armed with colouring and one of the conscientious waitresses offered the kids some bread to tide them over. Not the best start and for this reason, we wouldn’t come back on a Sunday. Apart from the hiccup at the start, we had a nice time. We ate the carvery which was delicious and portion sizes were huge. One of the kids ate off the kids menu which was equally as nice and a great portion size. The atmosphere was really lovely. It’s a fantastic space and very cozy, especially with the fire on in the background.

Our dinner was amazing. Booked a heated pod outside for our family of 6. Our waitress Nicky, what a delight. Very friendly and not over the top, genuine and prompt. Our food was great! Love this venue and location

We booked Meade Hall for our Wedding on Thursday 19th September and the whole process from start to finish was incredibly smooth and we honestly could never have imagined our day just being as perfect as it could possibly have been but Megan and Natalie literally went above and beyond! Nothing was ever too much trouble and the service/food and venue was complete utter perfection. I honestly cannot say a single bad word about either of these lovely intentive & kind ladies. Everyone complimented the venue, Darren the DJ (Awesome) the food/drinks as everything truly was of high quality!! We feel we got so much more for our money celebrating at Meade Hall compared to a Boutique Hotel. Honestly we cannot thank you all enough and cannot wait to return year after year for our Anniversary. All of our love Mr & Mrs Russell :)

Was very disappointed with the latest visit to the Crown & Cushion. Server rushed us to order drinks before we had even taken our coats off and asked us if we wanted to order food before half the party had even arrived. When we finally did order our drinks, they took ages to arrive, drinks were missed and then the replacements took even longer to arrive - this was a reoccurring theme throughout the evening constantly having to leave the table to get a server to ask where our drinks that we had ordered were. The food arrived and it was underwhelming, the salads contained unwashed leaves so they were all gritty and unpleasant, disappointing soggy leaves with minimal dressing. My friend ordered a steak and again, had to chase to just get a steak knife. The 12.5% service charge added automatically to the bill was a surprise, considering we didn't actually have that much service either. Overall a very disappointing experience and will not be back in a hurry.

We had a lovely lunch at the Crown & Cushion for a special birthday lunch. Delicious food, great atmosphere but the biggest shout out goes to our lovely waitress Rebecca who was wonderful, very attentive and gave great recommendations from the menu.

An excellent Sunday lunch can be had here with plenty of staff to attend to the table. It is advisable to book a table as it looks as though its a popular eatery.

Go here almost every time we want to go and eat out at a restaurant great place.

Wonderful Pub Restaurant in the south of London We had a great time with beer and fish and chips Some issues with the very young waiters, they were very green but extremely friendly

I chose Meade Hall for our wedding as it was local to us and we’d actually been to a function there before. Natalie has been absolutely fantastic throughout the whole process, made everything a breeze and I couldn’t have asked for a kinder and more welcoming events manager. On the day the I had the pleasure of Polly, who helped run the day and made sure everything went smoothly. She was so incredible and the venue looked perfect, even better than I had ever envisioned. Staff working our wedding were polite, friendly and professional. The food was on time and delicious! My little boy gave it double thumbs up (the gold standard). I would like to offer personal thank yous to everyone who helped make our wedding so special. Resident DJ Darren was amazing and had us on the dance floor all night. Highly recommend this venue for any celebration, 10/10!!! Love Lucy and Ryan

Nice restaurant, lunch menu was small but what I had was lovely. Was busy and loud, thanks to a rowdy 20 people table but our server was a lively lady and all was as we ordered. Also wasn't rushed to leave at all.

Good food, although the selection is a bit same old. Nice polite staff. The pub area lacks atmosphere and is a bit noisy with the wooden floor.

There were around 30 cars in the car park. Plenty of seating inside and out. We were ignored on our way in and managed to catch the attention of someone to be seated with menus. We were left 20 minutes unattended. Each time we glanced at someone and tried to flag them down they looked through us. Eventually, we had to get up and get someone to place our order. An apology was received for the lack of attention. Our table was cleaned as it was dirty. After that, there was a short delay and another apology. The food was served with a smile and we enjoyed it. Further delays followed. The bill was incorrect and listed an item we did not order. At that point the waiter removed the service charge which was appropriate and appreciated given the lapse in service. They could do with a separate non-smoking seating area outdoors as some cigarettes have an awful smell! Somewhere we have driven past for 10 years and wanted to try. Based on the experience, we will be unlikely to return.

We attended a wedding reception here a couple of weeks back, and ended up with a dicky stomach. Also went in the pub today and had the moodiest bar staff ever!

We love the Crown and Cushion. The food is generally very good, especially the ribs. The staff are friendly too. Tonight however was a disaster. We arrived at 17.45 and the restaurant was quiet. Initially the service was good. As time went by, the service became almost non existant. After our main meal was delivered, it seemed we had been totally forgotten. I had to go to the till to request further service just to clear the table. When the table was finally cleared we were given a promise that the desert menu would be with us straight away. It wasn't! I even had to go back to the till to request the bill. No excuse, but the restaurant became very busy whilst we were there. A dissapointing meal.

We had our wedding at the Meade Hall in August 2024 and it was perfect! Natalie was our main contact and was very helpful and understanding throughout the process and we were lucky to have Polly as our wedding coordinator because she is such a lovely person, managed the day very well and decorated the venue so beautifully which really exceeded our expectations!

Our server Jacky (permission given to name her) was excellent. Service was timely on a very busy evening. Food was freshly cooked and very tasty. I had a free bottle of prosecco as it was my birthday. A very pleasant evening and good value.

Lovely out of the way pub and restaurant. Has huge function room available for hire if you need. Food was really good but don't sit outside by the entrance drive as there are smelly drains! Inside and outside at the back are great. Lots of parking.

We had dinner last night having not visited for more than 2 years and it didn’t disappoint From the moment we arrived were seated in our outside hut 3 waitresses came over greeted us introduced themselves Then our waitress Nicky came over took our order and couldn’t of been nicer, so refreshing when often service these days is questionable she continued to look after us all evening until we left..so lovely a credit to the place Our food was equally wonderful Thank you we shall definitely not leave it so long until we return next Btw the ribs are still the best we’ve ever eaten highly recommend

Nice enough place to spend an afternoon/ evening for a wedding but the food was absolutely god awful. The worst wedding food I've ever had by some margin. Bland, undercooked, uninspired, and miserable.

Always enjoy coming here. Food, service and atmosphere is all great.

Outside seating here is ideal, heated pods that let you sit outside but stay warm. Food is excellent as is the service. Reasonable prices as well. This is my favorite go to pub for eating.

Party of 3. 2 x bubble and squeak, one chicken ceasar salad. Service was great, bubble and squeak was good, sadly the chicken in the caesarea salad was over cooked and inedible.

Having driven past on many occasions and always seen a busy car park I thought it must be worth a try - especially as an early lunch on a Saturday we’d beat the rush. It’s an interesting building with a quirky decor and with an army of staff evident you’d be hoping for something special. Sadly not. On the food front I’d consider my order to be the blandest burger I’ve ever had the misfortune to order: “Ultimate burger” suggests something special but 3 flavourless patties with greasy, soggy bacon and a congealed lump of bland, melted cheese in what felt more like a stale (possibly a low temperature attempt at toasting) burger bun all heavily reliant on the served sauce to give it flavour. The absence of “skin on chips” for generic frozen fries the final insult alongside a beer whose taste suggested the pipes haven’t been cleaned for some notable timeframe. I thought I was just unlucky but my kids, having opted for other burgers from the main menu, asked halfway through theirs “can we go elsewhere please” - a first from them! Service was fair but frustrating: whilst a lot of staff members are evident those serving indoors equated to 2 staff members sat in a booth death-scrolling whilst another two were clearly run off their feet. Result being having to constantly remind staff for items we’d ordered. When it came to paying I was tempted to make an offer toward the cost, reflective of the quality and experience, but it took so long to get the bill I just wanted to leave. Overall, just wish I’d gone somewhere else.

I go to this pub regularly as its lovely and great food. we arrived at 7pm my friend and both our teenage sons. drink and food orders were taken quickly and we got starters and our drinks quickly. However after our starters were taken away we had over an hours wait for our main meal. During this time nobody came to check on us, we tried to get somebody over to order more drinks but nobody came so in the end i went to the bar myself. it was only when i said to the barmaid could she put the drinks on our table she asked if we were already seated and i replied yes but nobody had bothered to check on us so id ordered myself that i noticed the manager go and have a quiet word with the staff that we then had service and had it explained our food wouldn't be much longer. mains were fine although my sons steak was incredibly fatty and half had to be left as it was inedible ( i checked it as i was angry he'd not eaten a £26 steak and he explained why and he was correct) and then another really long wait for pudding. 3 1/2 hours we were there in the end most of which was spent waiting for food or drinks. i wouldn't say the restaurant was excessively busy being a Tuesday evening and no apology for the long waits at the end so we will be avoiding this pub for a while sadly in the hope the service improves.

Great place to sit outside and enjoy a tasty meal with a glass of wine. Service was a little slow but the staff were great even though rushed off their feet. From the car park it's a little deceiving, as it looks so small on the outside but is a Tardis inside, with plenty of outdoor seating around the back. A bit pricey too though we don't usually have a pudding but after watching them being delivered to others, couldn't resist! Worth it!☺️

First time…Sunday lunch… nearly cancelled having read recent reviews….but pleasantly surprised. Nice table in the garden in the shade on a hot day. Plenty of room and our doggie made very welcome. Quick efficient service - lovely rhubarb gin cocktails. Sunday roast was a bit under par - tasteless boiled veg and very over cooked beef ( but edible ) not enough snips or potatoes, gravy a bit weak. Cauli Cheese was nice. Deserts were yummy esp the home made apple crumble. Perhaps the desert chef should also oversee the mains..? Environment / Service / Drinks and Desserts 10/10. Main course 5/10.

The CC was busy , the staff were pleasant and the atmosphere was good however the food was not up to standard. Not just mine but my sister and my husbands. If you are serving prawn cocktail then make a decent one. Shred the lettuce, add more prawns and sauce. The same with the chicken Caesar salad . Large lettuce leaves, chicken that was so tough it was hard to cut , no parmesan shavings and a small portion of sauce. I had possibly the worst salt and pepper squid and my scampi and chips were dire. Also hot plates should not be handed to diners even with the warning that the plates were hot. We won't hurry back sadly

Had dinner on Friday. Squashed into corner table, almost as an afterthought. White wine never been near a fridge/chiller. French beans not cooked. Not sure make of peas but not very nice. Need to get drains sorted, awful overpowering stench when leaving.

Fathers Day - Meade Hall Lovely visit, staff knowledgeable on beverages and food. Staff were accommodating as a couple of members of the party arrived later than allotted time. Staff also apologised for not having item on the menu and reduced bill accordingly. Service was good and the carvery was very very good. I feel I’m being picky but my only real moan was that the music could have been slightly more in tune with the day in question, as rave/club classics wasn’t really the best choice of background music on a Father’s Day lunch. But it really was lovely Thank you

Have eaten here a number of occasions and have noticed the food quality to be poorer. I ordered the vegetarian enchiladas and they weren’t really cooked, and yesterday ordered the veggie burger and again not cooked properly. Will not be returning.

Visited with a work team at lunch. I chose the kimchi chicken burger which was a bit dry. Not horrible, just a bit dry. Wish I'd chosen the Mexican burger. Still, the service was lovely. Smashing staff.

The staff were great and the pub was lovely - the food was just okay for the price you pay (London prices) the size of the portions are small and the food itself is nothing great for the price. If the price was somewhat reduced the food would be fine but it’s way too expensive for what it is and I have eaten in some of the best pubs in London and paid less than this.

I had my wedding here (Within the Meade Hall) and I cannot recommend them enough as a venue, the food was AMAZING, every one of my guests commented on how beautiful the food was. The staff are fantastic too, without going into too much detail, the support we had from our wedding organizer on the day and the days following was as fantastic as you can get. I am so thankful to them for catering such a wonderful day for me and my husband.

I have been the Crown a Cushion a number of times, however on this occasion it was somewhat disappointing. It took an hour to get our food, and the drinks service was not particularly attentive, which resulted in going to the bar myself to get a drink, to be served by a member of staff who was short and miserable. On bringing the food, parts were lukewarm, and the staff failed to take empty glasses, therefore the table was cluttered. To be frank being presented with a service charge of over £20 being added to the bill left a sour taste (we didn’t pay it). We also had to listen to an interview being conducted on the opposite table, where I learnt that the staff are paid minimum wage. Surely interviews should be held in a private setting and not in the ear shot of your paying customers, simply unprofessional. I wont be rushing back for Sunday lunch.

Delightful staff and a nice venue, but diabolical prices. The food was decent, standard pub fare, but charged at high end restaurant prices. Our waitress was fantastic though, was very friendly and attentive.

Nice setting and cute little huts (although with no heaters) and lighting. Sweet date or a drinks spot but quality of food and the menu can be much improved, only a bit better than weatherspoons but premium price for the setting. Staff busy chatting sometimes and have to go find a waiter yourself so overall mediocre experience. For over £100 bill, can go to a decent venue down the road, especially for decent meat. Enjoy the evening music and desserts but generally eat elsewhere.

A lovely evening with good food

Booked for a birthday celebration. 7 adults 4 young children. Asked for childrens meals to be served with adult starters..they weren't. Reminded them ..they didn't appear. Wait. ed over an hour for the main meal which was very disappointing. Had to ask for cutlery. One of the adults was served a child portion roast and one child's meal was wrong. At this point just wanted to eat and get out so no deserts. Could not understand why diners who came in after our party were served before us Overall a very disappointing experience

The food was excellent, and there was so much choice on the menu. But the service was super slow. We arrived at 1630, and we left at 1930. It was a bit too long, and we were so hungry.

Dined here on numerous occasions but also popped in for a drink with dog after long walks. Very accommodating, lovely venue both inside and out and provisions even for the pups.

Can highly recommend the Katsu Burger! Do download a voucher for 25% food discount from their website to be used Mon/Tues/Wed

Not dog friendly so we were ushered outside to a heated booth. Drinks took ages. I heard the place is ok inside but didn't find out

Had a great evening celebrating my friend’s birthday at the lovely Crown & Cushion, such a lovely place to dine out. Staff are so friendly and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Food & service was outstanding despite the restaurant being very busy, can’t wait to go back soon .

The food is good, slow service though.

We had a birthday celebration here with 13 of us. The pub was nice with a great atmosphere and very efficient staff, loved the cocktails. Meade Hall was wonderful, very spacious with plenty of room to move around. The carvery was outstanding. They had 5 or 6 different meats, the vegetables were freshly cooked, there were so many different types of sauces and condiments for everyone’s favourites.All the food was hot. The staff were just brilliant, it was very busy but they coped really well. They were very helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble for them. They went the extra mile. The whole venue has been very well maintained with a lovely seating area for drinks and meals and great for family’s too. The only thing I didn’t like was in Meade Hall where people had their dogs around the tables whilst eating. I think the dogs should stay outside or in the pub.

Had a lovely 60th lunch for my brother.

This is my fourth visit in a short time and every time this restaurant hits 5 stars the one thing that makes restaurant different is it is an experience not just a meal and it earns 5 Stars every visit.

Came here for my sons 1st birthday meal on Sunday. All the staff were helpful, friendly and attentive. The food was top notch and we all really enjoyed it. Thank you for lighting the number 1 candle and singing happy birthday! We requested a highchair and it was out ready and colouring set up for him. Plenty of parking. Highly recommend this place.

First time here, really impressed with food and friendly service. Will definitely return.

We went here for dinner early on a Saturday evening. Good range of choices on regular and kids' menus, and everything was well cooked and really tasty. The staff were lovely and couldn't have done more for us, including getting the kids' food out quickly to keep them occupied. The only reason I've dropped a star from the atmosphere was that there was a strong sewage smell the evening we were there, which seemed to be coming from the drains in the car park. Hopefully this is only a temporary issue, otherwise the pub itself (decor and setup) was lovely.

What's not to like. Staff very welcoming, service spot on and food was delicious. Special mention to Nicky who took our order - great menu and wine knowledge.

We had a really good meal here tonight, our waitress Nicky was absolutely lovely. All of the food was great, except I was a little disappointed that the cookie in my sundae wasn't warm. Both of us have left feeling extremely full and satisfied, and a special bonus being that we had 33% off the food. I've accidentally left my book behind so now I have no choice but to come back and eat here again, which is no shame at all! :)

Went there for Mother's day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Bit of trouble with melted icecream cos they were so busy but the manager was very good and couldn't do enough for us.

We hired the Meade Hall for my Father's wake. Elias was amazing and truly went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. The food was plentiful, fresh and tasty and everyone commented on what a perfect and fitting venue it was.

Came here Sunday on way back from holiday with wife didn't book so popped in and they was fully booked on my request for table for 2 I said no worries. But she said hold on if you order now and leave about 1later I'll can let you in So grateful to her and colleagues service and food excellent and we wasn't rushed Thankyou so much

Went here on a Sunday. It was heaving but service was amazing. They had a few trainee waitresses who were very diligent. Most of us ordered sunday roast. My roast was perfect. It was the perfect size and flavoursome. However others did mention their meat either being dry or chewy so marking it as a 4 but I would go back any day!

I have been coming here for many years with my family/ friends, love the place.. As normal place was rammed, food was a long time coming, but was as usual good, except for the Scampi which was a bit over cooked. Imagine my surprise however when I received my bill to notice that there was a huge service charge of approx £21. (Our bill was £137.00) Never seen this before at Crown and Cushion and when queried told it was a “new thing”. My partner asked them to take it off, which they did, and we then left an appropriate tip which I would much rather do. I don’t mind paying for a good service, but would rather have the choice to pay what I want.

Great service and everything we ordered was mouth watering!

My BBQ chicken burger was so overcooked and dry it needed masses of sauce just to make it edible. That said, the rest of the meals were excellent. The place is so busy and loud it is not somewhere for a quiet family or couples meal.
