Idyllic setting for a meal. If the sun is out then dining al fresco is a great experience. Plenty more room inside the pub. The crispy beef salad is amazing. My partner opts for this every time we visit. It's like crispy chilli beef you get at a Chinese restaurant but it's mixed with a meticulously sliced salad and topped with roasted cashews. Highly recommended. It's a big menu so it's easy to find something that you like. The bar had a couple of session bitters on when I last visited.

Wonderful place in typical old English design. However, the food was nothing further and really high priced with no taste delivery. Going there to drink is recommended but the food gives a lot away so take it elsewhere.

Came here for a late lunch and the first issue was the parking as we were a disabled person and looked for disabled parking, which had 3 spaces, all of which were taken up by non disabled badge holders, so not managed well from the restaurant point of view, even though we mentioned it to staff. We were shown to our table which was located downstairs and very close to the other tables, so when people were getting up from the other tables or going outside by the side door, I was constantly nudged so not ideal. We then had to wait ages for the service staff to come and take our drinks order even though we had to ask them to take our order. We then had to wait again and get the attention from the service staff who were more interested in talking to each other about what they were going to wear out than to take our meal order. Again we waited ages for our food to come out, even though the food was excellent quality that was about the only positive point to this experience. Service was so very slow and they had to be prompted by us. This place is great food, but is let down by the service.

The place is nice, and the food was really good however the service was very variable unfortunately which led to a bit of a poor experience. We ordered relatively quickly, and got our starters within a reasonable timeframe however it then took over an hour for the main courses to arrive. We were told they would take a few drinks off as compensation but that didn't happen either and since we ended up being in a rush to leave we didn't have time to argue about it. We had two kids with us and the delay made things hardest for them really. Shame as it's a lovely place but hard to give it a great rating after that experience

We went to The Mill House for Mothers Day; we knew we had a 2 hour sitting, however it took 10 minutes to get us seated and then we had to wait 20 minutes for our starter & a further 30 minutes for our main course. This would have been a 4 or 5 star review as the the food was lovely (although could have been hotter) but at the end of the main course we were told they needed the table back & would have to sit outside if we wanted anything else. We expressed our disappointment as they had wasted an hour or so with the service, but they didn’t care!

We used to eat at the Mill House regularly years ago but stopped and we couldn't remember why. We booked a meal recently and came with high hopes. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived but after a short while we were seated. Little did we know that this was the start of waiting. It took nearly 2 hours to get a starter and main course for 4 people. Of those 8 meals, 4 were incorrect as they were missing at least 1 thing on the menu. We corrected one meal but didn't bother with the rest because we had waited so long and our children were getting restless. At no point did anyone ask if our meals were okay or come and ask if we wanted more drinks. We gave up getting a dessert because we couldn't catch the attention of a waitress or waiter, no matter how hard we tried. We were also worried that desserts would take another hour to come. Sadly we will not return. If you want a quick meal, or a meal that will take less than half a day to receive I would say this venue is not for you

Lovely venue, let down by the food! The venue itself, is lovely and quirky, the staff friendly but the food leaves an awful lot to be desired. We ordered the starters of pork belly, Camembert and hummus. The Camembert was undercooked, so not soft in the middle and the hummus had stale little slices of unheated seeded bread, not the nicest. For the mains, we ordered 2 burgers which were dry and tasteless and were served with cold chips and salmon & smoked haddock fishcakes, these were overcooked and finished off in the microwave so they were heated through. The outer shell of them was as tough as an old boot and the salmon content was hard to find. Overall not great. Would revisit for a drink in summer, but skip the dining experience next time.

Very disappointed - waited to be served at the bar we were next in the queue, one barman serving, second barman stood filling up his water bottle looking at us, didn’t speak or ask us our order, we assumed he was on a break, instead he put his bottle down outback & came back out and went on to serve people who arrived after us! Then first barman finished serving his customers, ignored us and served again people who arrived after us. After deciding we are clearly invisible we left disappointed, having gone to the Mill House on good recommendations. Awful service.

The Mill House is a beautiful building on a number of levels (unsurprising for an old mill house) - I particularly loved the piece of glass floor above the mill wheel where you can see a torrent of white water flow beneath you - it has a real feeling of age and former purpose about it. The food was delicious, well presented and decent-sized portions without being over-facing - I had haddock and salmon fishcakes and my husband had the shoulder of lamb. I was also delighted, as the driver for the day, at their range of non-alcoholic beverages - the Wild Life Botanicals sparkling wines are a lovely alternative to prosecco. All the staff were welcoming and efficient and provided good service, even though we were there as a party of six on a Friday lunchtime. We very much enjoyed our first visit here and will definitely return, even though it's a 40 minute drive from home.

We were promptly greeted and escorted to our seats in a small nook area of the multi tiered restaurant area. The waitress was friendly helpful and knowledgeable on the menu. All needs were catered too in an unflustered way. The food arrived piping hot and excellently presented. I am no chef but I know a good steak and ale pie when I taste one!! All feedback from the rest of the party was very positive and all meals were consumed eagerly with little or none left uneaten. The portion size was perfect. Very impressed with this location and thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Make sure you book and take into consideration that hidden gems like this will be popular!!

Set on a lovely little pond the Mill House sits on top of a water wheel which you can see from inside the pub. In the summer I bet this place is stunning. Enough about that, the atmosphere, food, service excellent. We had the camembert to start, lamb and pie for mains and banana waffle to finish. Plenty of parking and impressively the menu boasts 6 low alcohol beers and ciders. We've already booked another visit. Might be back again for the dog walk (3rd Saturday). Just off Hook J5 on the M3. Everything was piping hot and cooked perfectly - especially the chunky chips! It really is incredible how everything came out so hot for such a big table all in such quick succession - a very high and professional restaurant standard. Friendly, warm and welcoming, perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. The menu has a great variety of hearty options, and the portions are generous—definitely great value for money. Thank you to Sue who served us, and was polite and professional!
