This is a excellent place to take the family, the Sunday lunch was absolutely fantastic, and the staff were very attentive.

Lovely ambiance cosy seating great ales. Fantastic menu, could easily enjoy the starters as a main. New additions to menu always welcome . The Crown continues to entertain and surprise with unusual yet delightful courses. Can’t fault this pub, definitely recommend and will return.

We were looking for somewhere to meet friends between Long Melford (Suffolk) and Hickling (Norfolk) and plumped for this pub. What a find! Service was really attentive and the food was first class. No downside with fair prices for what we had. Already planning on returning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch at The Burston Crown. It's a cute little country pub and the staff were all **delightful**. For me it was a treat to actually have a roast on offer, as a veggie you all too often get left with curry or risotto so this made a delicious change - really tasty, loved it! Yesterday we visited this pub for dinner for the second time. As previously, the food we were served was exceptional. We understand that the chef remained after the pub changed hands recently, and it's lucky for us that he did! He must be someone who really cares about food and has great cooking skills. A local pub with restaurant quality food and great front of house staff. Simply put for the minimal money of the bill, the food and experience outweighs it ten fold.

Found this pub completely by chance when out for a drive with friends around Suffolk and we got a bit lost 🤣 popped in for a quick drink, lovely place, friendly welcome, we sat outdoors as the weather was amazing and it was extremely peaceful. Will certainly be returning.

Visited for lunch with friends, the service was fine but the food was very poor, unseasoned, tasteless, what a shame as it has been one of our fav places to meet in the pass, but no more.

Visited today for lunch and thank goodness they fitted us in. I have visited once before which was excellant so as new management in situ wondered if it would be the same. I need not worry from the telephone call to enquire re a table to the time we left all was sublime. We arrived at 12 and sat outside in the sunshine. The waiting staff are all very cheerful and willing to make your stay as welcoming as possible. The food I had roast pork my husband roast beef was delicious fantastic vegetables and the roast potatoes excellant. Feeling full we paid and left but I feel we may become regulars, well done.

Revisited this local pub under new management. We had the 2 x fish and chips for £25 special on a Friday lunchtime. Good sized portion, fresh fish and lovely chips. Homemade tartare sauce was a lovely touch. Waiting staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Thank you team.

Although the food was ok, it was a shame that the service was very poor. Despite making a booking, there was no table ready and the service was slow. Unfortunately when our mains arrived, one of the meals was not what we had ordered. We accepted it, because it would have meant waiting for the correct order to be cooked. Suggest a bit more attention to detail and read back the order, to ensure it is correct.

Fabulous food service and atmosphere under the new ownership. Really good food and a beautiful garden for a summer day perfect with a glass of something refreshing and a couple of quirky small plate bar snacks. Can’t wait to go again.

My wife and I decided to visit for dinner on the last evening before lockdown.The pub was warm and the staff super friendlyThe fire was roaring away as we sat with a lovely bottle of red wine studying the food menuThe food is always fantastic with lots of flavour. One of my local pubs and providing an excellent track and trace led by Bev ... felt very safe and interior was extremely clean . Superb outside covered space provided for those who like fresh air ... ideal for drinkers . As for the food ! Wow !! We both chose a tapas style menu ... 3 small plates at £22 ( £8 each if you have a smaller appetite) . The chilli beef is excellent .. applause to Steve ! We also had prawns with chorizo , dirty nachos , seabass with curry essences , katsu chicken curry and a very light fried haddock . All superb .. more than enough food . Thank you both and staff , who all knew recent covid rule changes . Felt thoroughly safe as well as having a great lunch !

Visited with friends for an evening meal. Quite a chilly evening but we were in one of the 'beach huts' which had heating, fairy lights and the use of a blue tooth speaker to listen to our own music. You can tell the whole experience had been carefully thought through and service was impeccable. All of the dishes were beautifully cooked, imaginative and super tasty. I believe it was the proprietor who served us and she could not have made us feel more welcome. A delightful evening and look forward to visiting again.

Very welcoming , extremely safe & clean, visiting anywhere during co-vid restrictions can be concerning but not here, everything sanitised, tables distanced, track & track, one way system, this public house was extremely on the ball with regulations but at the same time friendly, helpful & relaxed atmosphere , highly recommend a visit for a very safe & enjoyable experience

We were excited to try the new garden menu experience.It was very clear how much thought and effort the owners have gone through to ensure that everything was totally clean, safe and an enjoyable experience.The food was exciting and so tasty( we had the risotto, chilly beef and fish & chips. They were all perfect washed down with a chilled bottle of rose.We are so lucky to have this pub open again after lockdown. I came here with my boyfriend Laurence and was so pleasantly surprised by the whole experience! The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were so friendly and smiley! Also a great food and drink selection at a really reasonable price. Such a lovely wholesome experience thanks guys!

Staff seem to be struggling to get their heads around dealing with customers amid the pandemic. We were sat in what would best be described as a storage area despite several other tables being available. Surface of the dining table unhygienic as the varnish was all bubbled up. The radiator was filthy and there were open storage shelves next to us. Both were unhygienic. Food very average. Risotto tasted more like rice pudding made with cream. We were given two cold side plates to eat from. Felt sorry for the staff though, as they were clearly overwhelmed by the regulations, unlike other pubs in the area that we visited.

We have had a few take away meals from Burston crown through the covid-19, they have been great. This Sunday we tried the Sunday lunch, great value for money, all fresh food and lots of it. Highly recommend

This was our second visit to The Crown at Burston. We were impressed the first time, some 3yrs or so ago, with everything about The Crown. The building itself, the atmosphere within, the staff, the food, the beers, the service . What I wasn't impressed with were the car parking arrangements. Very very poor, very small and tight.The suggestion to revisit The Crown met no resistance so off we went. If you have read any of my other reviews then you'll know how I appreciate a proper English pub. The Crown is a proper English pub. Its part of, probably heart of, the local community. Dog friendly too.On our arrival this time to my delight we find a big new car park, woo hoooo!We were greeted and lead to the table we'd reserved by the freindly staff. Rocco, our Lurcher x Scottish Deerhound was made to feel comfortable by being given a bed to sleep on. Between us we had the Lasagne, Cheese sandwich and ham, double egg and chip.All very nice and tasty, good size portions and clearly fresh ingredients.A couple of coffees and a pint of cider later and all was good. We had had another good experience at The Crown. I will mention the two ladies who showed us to our table and the served us at the table. I didn't get their names but they were just lovely.Thanks and see you again hopefully before to long.

Met up with some friends we hadn’t seen for ages picking a halfway driving point. The reviews for the venue had been great so when we arrived the low key environment surprised. Until we got served - by lovely people- and then got fed and the food is really great!!I had squid and then battered fish and both were tremendous, the others went the read roast beef and loved it.All in all a cracking venue for us to add to our foodie list

Our first visit last night and there's always the expectation that a pub restaurant you haven't tried will have the usual Brake Bros based menu. This hasn't and the patron is a star not just in producing such good food but turning it out promptly. Place was very busy (and noisy) but service was excellent.My wife (former AA rosetted chef) said the gravadlax was as good as she used to prepare and her sea bream and especially the vegetables could not be faulted. Katsu curry was a new dish to me with really interesting flavours.Since returning from France we've ceased eating out very much as Mid-Suffolk is a desert for good food and we eat better at home.A comfort to know that we now have two restaurants (Fox & Goose if you're asking) within easy reach of home.

Slow service, poor quality of food, owner indifferent to complaints andrude, won't be going there again.

We went tonight for dinner, and is was really great.You just feel so relaxed and the food is perfect. My wife tried the Goat curry ( which was hot with loads of flavour and so tender) while I had the steak. We sat after the meal with coffee, chocs and dessert wine. This pub is fantastic in summer and winter and is how all village pubs should be. Thanks we always enjoy our visits which are now becoming very regular.

A birthday lunch, a treat from my girl friends (ladies of a certain age). We were offered a really warm welcome and served by a very friendly and attentive member of staff. I think she had been warned that we might be other than quiet. Two of us had asparagus and Parma ham to start with which was delicious followed by the moistest and most tender chicken breast served with crushed potatoes and even more asparagus. Our friends pronounced their haddock and chips superb. All food presented looked good, was hot and tasted good. Some of the ladies just had to test that the sticky toffee pudding was as good as the pub suggested.....the verdict.....we must go back and try it again! A wonderful welcome and service, good friends and very good food. What more could you want? Thank you.

Our first visit for many years and we certainly won’t leave it so long before our next visit. My wife had the haddock and chips and I had the pie of the day which was ham and chicken and came in a lovely gravy and sumptuous pie crust.

Norfolk villages are very strange. You find really random things in the middle of nowhere; a huge Bed centre, a local swimming pool, an alpaca farm and then The Burston Crown.

We visited this pub twice. Very welcoming landlady and staff. The food was excellent and good value.

What a place in a small village, great menu, quality food, such a lovely landlady, chef exstrordinaire, sensible priced meals, decent beer and wine selection, steak nights, live music, quizes, the place must be the jewel in the Diss area

Can't say a bad thing about the place,food is first rate in the restaurant or in the bar always fresh and great ingredients. the crispy chill beef starter is just the best !! i had it for starters and pudding. all washed down with a great pint of whatever you choose from the great selection of beers.i look forward to my next visit and i hope they do too !!!

I was part of the group having Sunday lunch with Sarah recently and fully agree with her accurate review of our experience - my beef was gristly, Yorkshire puddings over-baked... However, it was even more disappointing that the owner described my friend's comments as 'unnecessary' and did not take the feedback more constructively.

it is not often that the desire for a full on Sunday lunch hits me but that's what I decided to have at our visit to The Burston Crown on Sunday.

Stopped off for Lunch on our way to Norwich, I had the Mussels as a main with fries - delicious!

Such a disappointment after such glowing reviews. Sunday lunch where the pile of roast beef was 70% fat and much of the remainder was chewy, the roast potatoes were hard and the Yorkshire was overcooked. We were asked twice if everything was ok and twice we said no it wasn't. We were just told that they leave the fat on for flavour (fat cap was 2cm thick!) and that nobody else had complained! On the flip side,our male server was very attentive and charming and the sticky toffee pudding was very nice although when we asked for a drop more cream, that's exactly what we got, it barely covered the bottom of the jug! I won't be visiting again.

A very atmospheric rural setting. A warm welcome and taken straight to our table. Well presented and cooked food arrived at just the right time. Quite a small menu but something for everyone and of course cooking and presentation were excellent. A lovely Valentines night experience.

Although not a stranger to this pub I was particularly impressed by the way Jenny, who was by herself, managed to keep the beer flowing, the food served & the phone answered all with good grace & genuine banter to make us all feel welcome. It's when the chips are down that a pub shows it's true character - nice one!

Once again an amazing meal at the Burston Crown. The jerk chicken pitta is my go to lunch meal. Amazingly tasty with gorgeous salad. And very crispy chips. I look forward to the next.

You need a sat to find place and we were very lucky to get the last parking place! they are doing a new car park so that will be good.

As soon as you walk inside the vibes are good and the staff are all very friendly. There is a good choice on the menu.

Having been at The Burston Crown again last night I felt obligated to once again give a rave review.Best rib-eye steak to be had but I think that about every meal I have ever had there.Tried the onion rings for the first time and addicted already!

Nice pub and restaurant. Food was good for pub grub. Nothing to rave about but was good. We sat next to a table with a very annoying iPad goon over the same noises 8.30pm by this point. We asked if they could ask them to turn it down but only told us that we could move into the bar area which we did and sat alone which kind of ruined the atmosphere. Won’t be rushing back but food was nice

Went for lunch on Saturday,first ones there so got table no problem,we were told food will be about 25 minutes..... 45 minutes later it turned up.

We were staying in the area and rang the Crown to get a table for 9 people after reading other reviews. Everyone was very welcoming from the moment we walked in the door. A variety of food was ordered both from the bar menu and the restaurant menu, it was great to have the choice of both menus. Everyone commented on how nice their food was. Sticky toffee pudding was amazing! Would definately revisit if we are ever in the area again

We popped in hoping for a tasty meal and we got it, the whole meal was cooked to perfection, a very tasty and perfectly cooked steak with home made chips with were crispy and soft in the middle. My other half had fried haddock and chips, again perfect, very freshly tasting and perfect chips. We had our favoite Adnams Broadside and all was served up by friendly and polite waitress.

Lunch here with friends during a Classic Car Event on Sunday. Two delicious Gordon's Gin and tonic in up-to-date Gin glasses - very impressive! My partner also chose a Merlot 250 with his lunch. Ordered two Ribeye Steaks which cost £21.50 each, which were superb. Also ordered a Special Chicken dish at £14.70 which was equally delicious. My sirloin steak was served with the most excellent and perfectly cooked vegetables; red cabbage, carrots and the best roast potatoes I've ever eaten. However, my steak was extremely disappointing, tasteless and very grizzly and we complained. However, the restaurant redeemed itself as the manager deducted the entire dish, for which I was most grateful. All kitchens have the occasional disaster and because they handled the complaint so well, I'm rating the overall experience as very good. Finished the meal with 3 cappuccinos and total bill was £85.70.

Went here for lunch after making sure it was accessible for me after broken ankle. Good communication and when we visited for lunch, good food. Don't expect fast food as they cook to order. Delicious chips.

This Pub is fantastic! It's Been standing since the 16th Century and has the most endearing wonky walls and low beams and fireplaces.
