Cafecafe in South Norfolk

After a nice walk around the lake...it wa nice to stop at the Flint. Its been revamped this year and looks much better as well as being easier for the Staff, snacks were all that we tried but there was plenty of choice on offer for those with a bigger appetite. Service was quick, and Staff were very polite as usual. Plenty of seating, upstairs, inside and outdoors. Thank you.

This place has changed quite a bit over the years, still a nice cafe inside and more structure to sit outside on level ground. Dogs are allowed in the outside part and there are toilets inside and a new block outside. A nice place to grab a coffee and some bird food.

Absolutely wonderful service and brilliant products.

We were in this cafe today. Everything was delicious: roll with brie, tomatoes and rocket; pastry with cheese and onions; pastry with beef; croissant, tea. I especially liked the coffee. They serve local coffee. I really liked it. The cafe is clean,staff is friendly. Dogs friendly as well)

Very clean with a nice choice of snacks and drinks. Good to see that profits go towards the upkeep of Whitlingham Country Park.

Food now by Bread Source so now lovely sausage rolls , however do they think everyone likes cheese as nothing but cheese in the rolls and I HATE cheese. Please understand not everyone likes cheese and variety would be good

Very nice indeed, great coffee and scone and lovely people working. Service a little slow perhaps.

Pleasant cafe, good for a quick snack, not a hearty meal. Serves coffee and cold drinks and a Small food section of sandwiches, Sausage Rolls, Soup, cakes etc

Had a capachino and mocca, very nice staff who were pleasant and service was quick, had ice cream tub which was nice, sat outside as it was nice, there is alcohol available, toilets were clean same for the outside toilets on the carpark, parking is a little dear £4.50 for 3hrs you can pay for 1 to 2 hrs, all day is £6.00, perhaps a £1.00 an hour would be good.

We arrived at the cafe 10.15am paid for 2hrs parking £2.80. In plenty of time to try their full English breakfast as advertised the web site. Went and asked for a menu, but was told they didn't have any, but he could read off the lunch menu, but I said it was the breakfast menu I wanted. In reply he said they have stopped doing it as the board with the breakfast menu on was turned around, they must of run out or something. Then he offered either a sausage roll or a pastie (unfortunately not what I had in mind for breakfast). I was not impressed. No breakfast and paid for 2hrs parking which I didnt use. May I suggest that you get some menus printed, so customers can decide what they want without having to queue.

Lovely little cafe. Lovely cheese scone and hot chocolate. Massive bits of brownie. They also do dog ice cream. There is a panoramic view of the broad from the inside seating area via a big window and there is also an outdoor seating area. Shame about the kitchen being right in the middle. The walls are flinty.

The cafe has a nice ambience in a converted flint built barn and wasn't too busy. Quality hot chocolate served at the perfect temperature. Nice walk around the broad immediately outside.

Much improved from our previous visits. The quality of the food has definitely improved, including a very nice sausage roll.

Great sausage baps and good service

Ran out of filter coffee at 2.00 p.m. and wouldn't make more! Couldn't have scones with clotted cream as it was frozen! Not a good service or attitude from the older lady at the counter who acted like she wasn't intetested. However the young girl who served us was lovely. They could do with more staff like her.

I regularly walk my dog at Whitlingham Park and more often than not stop off at the cafe to undo all the good work I’ve done for my waist line! As a disabled customer who relies on his Assistance Dog the team are so accommodating and welcoming it always puts me (and therefore my dog) at ease. Sue deserves a special mention. How she manages to stay calm in what is often a pretty busy place and still manage to take the time to check on the customers is beyond me.

Great that this place is dog friendly, the food is average but it is always very busy when I have visited.........staff members are a little sharp when ordering, you are treated a bit like sheep/cattle rather than a customer, so that could be improved upon, the coffee is very good, the views & atmosphere is fairly good, all in all maybe worth a visit depending how you feel about customer service.

Just a side note, the baby changing 'table' thing is hilariously close to the floor, and angles down so you have to kneel on the floor and hold your baby on with one hand. Risky business!

Lovely lunch with family staff friendly and attentive 👍

I received a reaĺly friendly welcome, staff went above and beyond to help me during my visit. A wide selection of homemade baked treats was on offer, a good selection of drinks and the location is just perfect for a walk by the beautiful broad.

The cafe is very good but get a bit crowded due to it being very popular although you can always find. Table.

Nice sandwich and cakes, a bit pricey but good

Timed it right and no waiting. Loved the sausage and bacon sarnie. Service quick and friendly. Even when they had loads come in they dealt with it quickly. It helped that most people knew what they wanted so look and decide before you join the queue.

Was camping nearby and looking forward to a full English cooked breakfast as advertised on their website. Apparently, they've not done this for a while and the staff were very apologetic even though they have to deal with complaints day in and day out despite repeated requests to get it changed. The bacon rolls bought instead were dry and difficult to eat. The coffee and cake was good.

Unfortunately the cake we purchased was stale and therefore we were unable to eat it. We were looking forward to their tasty pasties, but we were too late.

As others have said it's such a shame this café isn't as nice as it could be. Some older members of staff in particular are unhappy and unpleasant. Perhaps if they dislike their job they ought to leave and let someone younger and more enthusiastic have their role. Food and coffee average at best. This place has huge potential that is being wasted.

Haven't had any of the plated food to know the quality but cakes and pastries are decent for the cost. Dog friendly with a good amount of seating available but can get very busy on a warm day when lots of visitors to the country park.

Awful sandwich, plonked on a plate, no garnish. Dry bread coupled with my Goats cheese and roasted veg filling, containing no goats cheese, made for a disappointing lunch. On the plus side a nice cuppa.

Nice cafe in Whiglingham Broad Park. Selection of snacks, cakes etc and hook range of hot and Cold drinks. Prices reasonable. Good toilets.

This place could be brilliant, but sadly it is lacking in a lot of areas. It feels to me like they have settled for mediocrity because they know people will come no matter because of the location. I asked the guy behind the counter what the soup of the day was and he said he thought it was mushroom, went and checked and came back and said it was carrot and coriander. I would expect the server as a bare minimum to know what soup they have on today. Then you have to tell the server at the till what you have ordered. This is very open to dishonesty. They'd also ran out of any hot pastries (cornish pasties, sausage rolls, etc) someone in front was told it would be a 20 minute wait. All in all a great location that is run really poorly. I won't be returning.

We had a cappuccino. The place was very busy around lunchtime. The place needs more seating.

Some of the staff clearly missed the lesson on 'How to be pleasant, friendly and smile' !!Shame because it's a lovely set up, with lovely snacks etcetera.... Today was a little friendlier, tea was lovely.

Perfect destination for a cycle ride or a Beryl scooter trip to Whitlingham broad (Beryl bay in car park), to enjoy the waterside and tranquility. Popular with dog walkers, active people and seniors.

Great cafe and reasonably priced. Great to grab a coffee following a walk round the lake. Accessible for wheelchairs, buggys and accepts dogs.

I live 10 minutes from this place and its a nice stop over while walking round the Broad.... Its has nice sized toilets, information of surrounds, good ice cream selection and many drinks and cakes Think the food is a bit expensive but its a captive audience in the right place A lot of seating area around the barn A very pleasant place to meet up for a yabber

Service with a wan smile from tired, overworked staff. Sad to see signs that hot food availability was reduced due to staff shortages. Surely there are people out there needing part time jobs? Even volunteering opportunities? There used to be a small shop element, selling books and souvenirs - I was hoping to find a publication about the history of the area. Is this all due to council cuts, I wonder?

Busy but with good quick service from the pleasant staff. Highly recommended this cafe. Beautiful spot by the Broad.

It might be a minor quibble for some, but if you're going to sell nice chilled cans of beer, could you invest in some beer glasses to drink it from please? Swigging from the can or nasty plastic cup is never the same.

Liked this place. Good selection of home made cakes. Plenty of seating inside and out with picnic tables overlooking the open field next door.

Lovely coffee good choice of food

We like to stop here for a drink and a cake after a dog walk. It's great that you can take dogs in, and they even sell dog bone biscuit. The staff are quite friendly, and the cakes seem like they are home made and are very nice, the coffee is also nice, and the atmosphere is ok, well it is until they want you out by 3.30pm dispite closing at 4pm, they make it known you are no longer welcome at 3.30pm, they shut the roller window doors, stack the chairs on the tables, they certainly make you aware you are no longer welcome, this could be a lovely place dispite this annoyance. It seems like I'm not the only reviewer who noticed this at a different time, and it didn't feel like they were short staffed before this is mentioned.... Update 25th August 2023 returned to see if things had changed for the better, the only change is the cafe is open until 5pm apparently, this isn't the case. The staff start clearing the things up at 4.20pm and the Barn doors were shut up at 4.50pm. They even took the umbrellas down when we were still eating, there nothing better than telling you to go....

Great location, food OK but café floor was dirty and no attempt to clear food or other rubbish that had been dropped by customers.

Honest home cooked food and drinks, staff are generally friendly and the food is tasty. The savouries did look a bit dodgy but tasted good

Was served an undercooked sausage roll, now feeling unwell, service was a bit uncomfortable also.

Very poor vegan options. The only vegan friendly cake was quite dry and not tasty. Service was pleasant, friendly but a bit chaotic.

A nice place to get some food during your walk around Whitlingham. Bit on the overpriced side, but has lovely food, toilets, and outdoor seating as well as indoor. Nice little place.

Had a large breakfast here (served from 9am) and a ham and cheese toastie. Both were good and the breakfast includes a tea or coffee. On a nice day you can sit outside or there are some tables inside with a view of the water. Not cheap but worth a visit.

Fabulous cafe right On the waters edge. Had al lovely refreshments and a break after a very pleasant cycle around the area. Staff friendly and goos choice of lunch set in a flint decorated stone building. Easy parking for cars and bikes

Slightly over priced cafe but great food and lovely coffee. Beautiful area to visit and seating area good. Service was helpful and friendly but they were very busy and it was quite slow. Could do with a bigger kitchen area for popularity.

Very rude waiters told my little girls to get out of the café because they didn’t have any money to buy the food but they were just looking for a place for our family to sit to lunch in the café. Definitely would not recommend but amazing views nearby perfect for a walk. Very disappointed meant to be a café not an orphanage!

Given the location, it was disappointing not to be able to sit inside with the (well behaved) dog. Instead our coffee cooled very quickly in the wind and rain

Amazing barn but definitely not used to its full capability. Felt rushed through the queue, coffee was not great and quite expensive considering it came in a tiny vending machine style cup.

Food was excellent, but serving tea in a paper cup with a tea bag in it was very poor, would be nice in a teapot and China cups.

Love going to Flints. I'm in wheelchair, so don't always go round the lake. But it's nice to have a coffee and usually food of some kind (depending on time of day) sitting watching the world going by and getting fresh air.

Lovely cafe at the end of a great walk. Couple of vegan cake options and a nice oat milk flat white.

The cakes looked nice but we didn't indulge on this visit, the pasties and sausage rolls didn't look very appetising however, most looked under baked and falling apart. Nice coffee and a good amount of space available to sit, highchairs available that were clean and sturdy. We were served swiftly considering there was a fairly long queue.

Credit where credit due! I live locally and had been avoiding due to poor service and dry cakes in the past . But with a friend after a walk had a goats cheese and roast veg toastie , tea and a cake ! 😊Lovely friendly service from a blonde lady and food was really good . Thank you for ‘upping your game’ keep the good customer service coming it really does make all the difference .

Not the most varied of breakfast choices but OK and it's a lovely place with very friendly service.

Mixed feelings about Flint Barn today - visited at about 2.30ish, so towards closing time. Member of staff that served us was rather brusque. It did feel that she would rather have been somewhere else. However, another member of staff was the complete opposite - friendly and cheerful, offering to bring our drinks to our table.

I highly rate this place, great selection of food and drink options here. The homemade soup and cakes they do are really good. Nice vibe as well!

Very pleasant place with good food and drink, but make sure to get there at least an hour before they close. Otherwise it's pretty unwelcoming as the staff start turning customers away half hour before close and they start closing up the shutters and putting chairs away hile you're still drinking/eating. Hint to get out much! 🤣

Excellent coffee. Apple puff was very nice.

No vegan options but the staff were nice enough to make a roast vegetable panini. Coffee was fine, but the picnic area and views were superb. Lots of Pokémon Go stops in the vicinity.
