We chose The Cosy Tea Rooms to hold the wake after a friend's funeral at the nearby St Mary's church. Sharon was extremely helpful from the start, guiding us as to what menu would be suitable and made the whole process stress free. Everything was really delicious on the day, so fresh ( especially the cakes!!) and we all had a lovely time chatting together about our late friend while tucking in. We recommend The Cosy Tea Room on any occasion and thank them for a super wake.

We stayed with friends at the pub across the road as we were all going to a wedding nearby. The pub doesn’t provide breakfast, so 8 of us descended on The Cosy Tea Room at on a Friday morning, unexpected and we were looked after brilliantly! Bacon sandwiches, scrambled eggs on toast and beans on toast with plenty of tea and coffee were quickly offered and hugely appreciated. The lovely lady running the shop asked if we wanted to come back on Saturday, to which we immediately said YES! and specially arranged to have a full English breakfast ready for us all on Saturday, including hash browns; a special request. Thank you for looking after us! Highly recommended.

The Cosy Tea Room is a lovely little place with amazing freshly cooked quiche and cheese scones. Obviously there is more to eat but everything is fresh and tastes amazing. The coffee is lovely and my wife really enjoys the tea. We actually go there 2 sometimes 3 times a week. Extremely friendly and welcoming.

We called in today mid-way through a slightly soggy walk. We each chose the really tasty red potato and butternut squash soup with a cheesy roll. The soup was probably the best of its type that we have ever tasted and the warm cheesy roll complemented it perfectly. That was followed by an excellent coffee and a warm brownie. The latter was made by the owner’s daughter, a trainee pastry chef - she’s got real talent!. All this at a reasonable price with very friendly service! Next time we're in the area we will be back!

We have been here several times as we are local and pass through the area frequently. It’s a lovely, pleasant place to sit, relax and refresh. Overall it is good. Friendly staff in a quiet, clean and cosy cafe. The teas and coffees are good. However, their website advertises they use produce from local farms. They do not. It is from Tesco. As local award-winning food producers ourselves, this was a big let-down. It’s not hard to buy local goods, support the local economy and get excellent ingredients for good value. I say that from our own experience and knowledge. An easy, obvious win here has been overlooked and missed. The Cosy Tea Rooms don’t allow dogs which - for a place in the heart of countryside walks - is disappointing and means we visit less often than we otherwise would. For a comfy stop-off, The Cosy Tea Rooms are nice and I’d happily recommend for a tea break, snack and rest point on a long walk or cycle ride. But if you want to experience quality local produce and a true taste of Kent, you’ll need to go elsewhere. (The opening times advertised on here need correcting. They open at 10am not 09:30.)

This used to be my go to place when taking my mum to lunch, it lived up to its name being very cosy, quaint, welcoming with lovely home made food. It has recently changed ownership, what a shame. The new owners have obviously decided to put their own stamp on it. It is no longer cosy, all bright yellows and turquoise. Gone are the flowery tablecloths to be replaced by stark white waxed cloths emblazoned with the cafe name. No more pretty paintings on the walls, or tempting little nic nacs to buy, The food also has changed. The salads, quiches and pies are no longer made on site, the display cabinet showed an array of dried up unappetising looking pies/sausage rolls, no tempting salads at all. We opted for jacket potato, my Mums favourite. The potato was ok, but the accompanying salad was much smaller than previously, three slices of cucumber, three slices of tomato, scant dessert spoon of coleslaw, a few leaves, and the smallest amount of butter imaginable. Previously the accompaniment would have been three tasty side salads (homemade) cherry tomatoes, cucumber and green salad, and a decent amount of butter. They seem to be focusing more on branded teas and coffees, possibly some sort of promotion deal. All in all a very disappointing visit, which didn’t warrant the 30 minute drive each way. Probably time to find a new venue.

Very disappointing. We chose this place for breakfast as opposed to the hotel next door expecting a home cooked breakfast. We did wonder if they were prepared as it was 9.00 ish? The tea had an odd smell We live in Kent and the water can have a chemical smell. It needs to be filtered. The poached egg in toast was bread not toast so soggy, the egg wasn’t great with a small yolk and the poaching watery, bacon was hard and chewy. The staff were lovely and friendly. Such a shame.

Coming from just down the road, I decided to try out the Cosy Tea Rooms' Big Breakfast. It was very good. Nice variety of about six different elements. Bacon nicely done, scrambled egg perfect, and hot baked beans served in a small dish separate. My companion suggested they did that, so that the baked bean juice did not make the toast soggy! Very good idea: I'd never thought of that. Just one niggle. They brought four slides of crisp brown toast. Fine. They also brought two pats of butter, in foil, on a plate. But most of the table, and the butter, was in the sun. So buy the time I unwrapped the butter, it had melted, and had to be poured out onto the toast. Perhaps a dish with a china cover, or carefully leaving the butter in a shady part of the table, might have solved this.

I visit this tea rooms quite frequently and would say that the staff are always friendly and welcoming, and there is plenty to choose from on the menu. They serve all day up to about 3.30pm. You can have anything from tea and cake to an all day breakfast with much inbetween! They offer a selection of homemade quiches, pasties, sausage rolls, sandwiches (toasted if you like) and jacket potatoes. All of these come as a meal with lettuce, cucumber, tomato, potato salad and coleslaw, also spiral "crisps". For a lighter option you can have beans, egg or cheese on toast. The food is served on pretty bone china crockery, some of which is also available to buy in the gift shop which forms part of the tea rooms. There is plenty seating available with a variety of large and small tables in cottagey-looking pine. The tea rooms have a nice atmosphere and cater for walkers, cyclists, passers-by and locals who want to drop in for a quick coffee. I believe also they provide a takeaway service. All in all, a great place to visit.

Also appreciated was the chocolate cake. The café is lovely and the staff helpful and friendly but the food fell short of expectations for a mother's day afternoon tea and was not good value for the money. There were not enough cake stands for us all, really not enough food, only a few really small sandwiches, very small scones with jam and cream and a choice of some cake afterwards of which the chocolate one was very dry and stale, we had to order extra food and the bill came to over £70.00. We wish we had gone for a roast dinner in the pub across the road which would have been much better value for money.

We stopped off here for lunch based on the reviews on this site and sadly won't be going back, even though its local. Service was slow, to be fair we did follow in a big group of cyclists, though equally plenty of staff around. I ordered homemade quiche and salad, my wife jacket potato with well-done bacon and beans. I enjoyed the quiche, my wife had bacon barely cooked and cold beans. Following that we had drinks and cakes - half good! My wife had chocolate cake that was several days past being fit to serve, my coffee was weak, tasteless and undrinkable. The herbal tea and scone which made up the rest of this part were fine. Sorry, but not good enough.

I knew it as the old post office when I lived in Elam and what a lovely surprise to find it had become the most gorgeous tea room. It is indeed very cosy but the food is the winner! Having holidayed in UK for 5 weeks I finally found the best fruit scones ever, which is my criteria for a good tea shop. They have a range of yummy cakes, speciality teas and even a refreshing ice tea when its hot like last week. They have a useful booster seat, kids toys and enough space in the toilets to change little ones, perfect for my 8 month old. Food is, of course, all homemade so it is a really nice touch when you're not up to hosting guests yourself. The Cosy Tea Rooms is aptly named as it gives off a feeling of comfort (furnishings), warmth (from the staff) and relaxation (drinking tea). This place is a great stop not just for walkers exploring the countryside around Elham but for anyone passing through. There is plenty of car parking either in the High Street or in The Square by the church. The staff are welcoming and service and presentation is excellent. There is a varied choice of cakes, sausage rolls (I like these), scones (my husband says the cheese ones are lovely). They do light lunches but we have not tried any although the quiches look good. The tea cups are beautiful (like Grandma's) bone china and add to the quaintness of the tea rooms. Sadly, I shall not be returning for a third visit.

We had a wonderful lunch at The Cosy Tea Rooms of Elham, and it certainly lives up to its name of cosy, being comfortable and welcoming. Just what you would want from an English village tearooms, friendly service, wonderful lunch menu and scrummy cakes and tea. Staff were attentive and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again on my next visit to Elham.

My friend took me for lunch here as it's one of her favourite places to eat. I had homemade leek and cheese quiche with salad which was lovely and very cheesy :). For dessert I had a slice of coffee and walnut sponge which was moist and light, it's the best coffee and walnut cake I have had.

I had visited this tea rooms back in February and wasn't that impressed as one previous customer stated the tables were sticky! As I was passing through the village I decided to give it another go and I am so glad I did.I believe the tea rooms now has a new owner and what a difference, it felt cleaner, brighter and no more sticky table. We had salad with home made quiche and coleslaw, delicious and home made cake which was the best chocolate cake I have had for a long time.

My visit was ok. Not over impressed with My table visually it looked very dirty and when putting my News paper down i had to peel it off, My plate and cup was the same. My seating was on the right side and about 10 inches from my plate was a mass of black mould which again visually was off putting. When my Full English turned up it looked like she had dropped it on my plate from a great hight just a pile of mixed up food, eggs lovely, bacon not so nice a cheap cut mostly fat, Rest ok. Position in a lovely setting.

A business associate suggested we meet here and I was very glad she did. Wasn't disappointed, and poached eggs on toast had the most lovely rich yellowy yolks I've ever tried. Visit this one, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Perfect tea, cake and crockery in the heart of one of Kent's best villages. The Cosy Tea rooms is a regular spot and we hope it continues to thrive. Definitely recommended.

A very cute little place for a light lunch and tea. Stopped in for lunch. Overheard another older couple looking for a new house in the area. The shop owner made us all feel like we were sitting in her kitchen. And the food was good too!

Cosy and friendly tea rooms with delicious cakes and refreshing freshly brewed tea, recommend. The closing time was 4pm which meant we only had 30 mins to enjoy the surroundings, a shame they didn't stay open a little later.

Expecting a nice lunch at Elham, vineyard, only to find it fully booked,we stopped at Elham for a sandwich at the cosy tea rooms. It was empty ,and we picked a table by the window. The table top was in need of a spray and wipe but no one was about.the sandwiches (prawn and ham with cheese)I ordered were awful, cut bread, fillings just not good.I'm sorry but I won't be stopping there again.

Stopped here for afternoon tea when out for a walk in the Elham valley based on previous reviews and wasn't disappointed. Lovely hot coffee accompanied by a scone, butter & jam served on pretty china plates. The staff were very friendly and I was spoilt for choice when it came to which cake to have. Would also recommend a visit if you're in the area....

We have had lunch there, we have had afternoon tea there and on all occasions we have enjoyed being there. In fact we are going there again tomorrow before walking through the Autumn colours of the Elham Valley.Good breakfasts, lunches and teas. Pleasant staff, good tea and coffee and good food, an excellent combination. Good parking as well.If anyone votes this place less than a four, I will be surprised. If you aks them nicely, they may point you to the field of orchids that is about a mile up the road...

I've seen this tea shop in passing before but never stopped - I didn't know what a great place I was missing.A large selection of at least a dozen different, and fresh, beautiful home made cakes - I had the most delightful and light yet tasty coffee and walnut sponge. Coffees are large and very hot, they even had skimmed milk available which is very unusual still, (but shouldn't be!). Very friendly service, good range of cold and hot drinks, lunches and snacks looked well prepared and tasty too - we will have to try them next time!A lovely cosy corner with sofas for a relaxing coffee or tea with a book, and plump cushions on every normal seat too. Beautifully decorated too and very welcoming, even to us on our cycle gear!Thank you.... and see you soon... very soon...

We popped in on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The service was friendly and the food was incredible. I had the Djangos breakfast and I couldn't stop eating it even though I was full. They even had lots of Gluten Free Options. Can't wait to go back.

Stopped by to grab a coffee and the place looked great, the coffee was alright. On that day the service was not the most friendly and effective. But I do understand that we all have days that we are not feeling it.
