We were staying at a nearby campsite and went into New Romney to get some dinner. The dog friendly pubs we visited all stopped serving food at 7pm so we wandered down the high street and stumbled across The Coachouse tucked down a little alleyway. Although the dogs were not allowed in the restaurant they had outside seating and the owner said we were welcome to eat there. What a little find! The food was first class , owner was the chef. The husband and wife team have got this place spot on. Friendly and professional service. Music playing was right up our street and we had an unexpected lovely evening at this great little establishment. Would throughly recommend and the moussaka and Halloumi fries were amazing.

This is my first tripadviser review and i felt compelled to come and write , especially after reading the other reviews. We came for lunch, but we were too early, and it was busy with diners having breakfast which i have to say looked amazing. we sat in he sofa area and waited, had the most smooth tasting well rounded coffee, kids had milk shakes. The staff were attentive and checked on us regularly when were eventually guided to a table that became free. We had moussaka, a sicilian pasta, kids had southerfried goujons and chunky chips from the children's menu, a chicken souvlaki pitta but we opted for the one off the main menu and Chicken pizza, also from the main menu. The waitress was friendly and really helped us choose. We waited around 15 mins for the dishes to come out, and when they came you could see the freshness in which they were cooked, and my goodness the flavour was incredible. We were checked on a couple more times and had another round of drinks, this time I had a Draught beer and my wife had a glass of wine, milkshakes and soft drinks, too. We couldn't fault the staff or the food, the only let down was the other customers who were extremely rude to the staff, many of them ignoring the sign at the door alluding to table service and then the abhorrent nature in their responses when asked to take a seat. You could see the frustration in the batista having to step away from doing other diners drinks to tell people it's table service after walking past 3 signs stating so. If you're reading this please let the staff do their job, you'll have a much better visit and you may enjoy it as much as we did.. We will be back in the next half term, what a fabulous place.

This morning, I had the pleasure of starting my day at The Coach House with their delightful Greek breakfast. It was the perfect blend of creamy Greek yogurt, warm pan-roasted peaches, and crunchy walnuts, simple yet absolutely delicious due to Fredi Papadopoulos little twists on this classic dish! And of course, I couldn't leave without indulging in one of their freshly baked croissants, a must-have every time I visit. I know I've mentioned this before, but if you haven't tried The Coach House yet, you're truly missing out! Make sure to stop by and treat yourself to an unforgettable breakfast, lunch, or supper!

We just parked up in New Romney and went shopping. As we were walking back we felt a little peckish and could hear music and observeda coffee shop called The Coach House. I won't go Into too much detail however I had a meal called the apollo which chiabato filled with cranberry sauce. grilled houloumi, lettuce, and southern fried chicken filled. It was absolutely gorgeous to taste. I would recommend this restaurant to all people young and old. Regards, Dave.

My partner and I ate here as we wanted to grab a bit to eat whilst enjoying the sun and we were both stunned by the food. The chef has got his flavours absolutely nailed, everything tasted amazing and the dishes were the type that you’d expect at a high end restaurant. This being said, the prices were still very affordable and the portion sizes are generous - so much so that I walked in quite hungry and still couldn’t finish my plate. The only criticism I have is that we waited upwards of 20 minutes for our food, but I’m more than happy to look past this as it was very busy, the food was well worth the wait, and the staff were attentive and checked on us regularly. If you’re Kent based and haven’t checked this hidden gem out, please do!

For transparency I am a regular customer in the Coach House, but there's a reason I am a regular customer. Thier food is freshly prepared from scratch, incredibly tasty and refreshingly different from the big chains that seem to fill the High street. Today I popped in for lunch, it was absolutely rammed and I was lucky to get a table. It was the New Romney Fayre in town so much busier than usual, Fredi and Hazel had put on thier shortened lunch menu to ensure they could cater for the extra busy lunchtime service. This didn't mean reduced quality though, I had the spicy Chicken thigh Souvlaki Pitta with seasoned fries, oooh and the Ay Verde sauce, all that coriander , garlic and chilli really does pack a punch. I have always found Fredi Hazel and thier staff incredibly friendly and helpful. I would add that they have worked incredibly hard to create a strong sense of community in thier restaurant, this has previously included, free school dinners during the holidays, and more recently I have enjoyed thier Waxworks DJ set nights. Five star recommended from me. Give it a try.

Full marks for our lunch today at The Coach House, celebrating a friend's birthday. We were a mixed group of diners, including two vegans and a vegetarian, and although this isn't a dedicated veggie menu, we each found a delicious and well-cooked choice from the pitta menu - two falafel and one halloumi, both served with salad and incredibly tasty seasoned chips. Our server was very attentive, and the chef came out personally to check that we were all happy and that the food was good. Very reasonably priced, and a decent drinks list. Thank you Coach House, we will be back soon! 🙂

The best part of our mini holiday to Camber Sands. I am sorry we only discovered this place on our last day here as we had the best food ever. As soon as we got out of our car, Fred welcomed us giving us change to pay for the car park as it was before 6pm. Hazel made sure we were happy with everything and brought us a high chair for the little one as we encountered a very strange experience the day before where we were denied access with the baby in a pub/restaurant in Camber. Had 2 moussaka , drinks and their fresh made cakes. If you are as disappointed as we were by the food in Camber sands and the restaurants around, this place is only 15-20 min away by car and I promise you won't regret it. The food is fresh made and the atmosphere cosy and intimate, perfect for couples, families or friend groups. A massive Thank You to Hazel and Fred for welcoming us to your gem of a restaurant and delighting us with your amazing food!

This place was okay. A little weird the gyros were out at a Greek spot, but I see from some other posts that they might’ve just misplanned as a result of a trip or something. Food was okay, service okay, the decor and flavor of the food was bland even though the seasoned fries look seasoned they taste bland and not fresh. Not sure what the food service standard are over here as I’m an International traveler, but Hazel was eating with her fingers behind the counter and I did not see her wash her hands. Unsanitary and a bit weird. I understand everyone has to eat but as someone who worked in food service for close to 8 years I have never done that myself. With the extended access to CCTV and the lengthy responses, I am sure I’ll be getting the most professional and calm reactions to this as a paying and honest customer who has nothing to gain from this— much like anyone else who makes a review. Consider myself prepared to get scalped 🤩🫡. Edit: Point made, folks. This is such a strange response. Not normal. If this was a blatant attack I would’ve started it at 1 star— not three. But, given again the professionalism and the combination with multiple other experience I should give this place what it deserves.

This place is very cute. The inside is nicely decorated and it looks like they have invested a significant amount of money into the kitchen/front of house. The blonde server we had was amazing and she was running that front of house like it was no one's business. It was disappointing to find out upon arrival that a Greek restaurant known for their gyros were out of their gyros. This was fine, we decided on one of the lunch sandwiches instead. Overall, the food is fresh and for the most part beautifully cooked. However, the chicken tasted overcooked and oily which was not balanced out with any type of acid to balance. Honestly, the dryness and greasiness of the chicken would be manageable with some type acidity and sauce been added. The fries were bland and didn't appear to be made in house. I could be wrong, but they did not taste fresh. Overall, it is a cozy little spot with great staff. Definitely not a bad stop, but if you are looking for something full of flavor this might not be the place. EDIT: After taking a longer moment to read through the reviews, I am expecting the owners to treat me with the same professionalism and respect they have treated other criticisms of their establishment... which is with none. A shame owners are too quick to defend and insult valid criticisms rather than listen and be open to change.

A Hidden Gem in New Romney: The Coach House My wife and I are not frequent diners, but when we do indulge, we seek out venues that offer great cuisine at reasonable prices. The Coach House in New Romney has consistently exceeded our expectations, earning the title of the best dining spot in town by a long shot! What sets The Coach House apart is its dedication to quality. Every dish showcases ingredients of the highest caliber, with a focus on sourcing locally whenever possible. From farm-fresh produce to succulent meats, each bite is a testament to the Freds commitment to excellence. It's disheartening to see recent reviews that fail to recognize the value of this small, local gem. These criticisms seem unjustified and out of touch with the realities of running a business like The Coach House. Perhaps these individuals would be better suited to the food and environment offered in a less classy establishment, but for those who appreciate genuine culinary craftsmanship, The Coach House is a true find. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Fred and Hazel for their tireless dedication to delivering exceptional food. Their commitment to quality and passion for food shines through in every dish, making The Coach House a must-visit destination for anyone with an appreciation for fine cuisine. Thanks to Fred, Hazel, and the entire team for their continued excellence!

Thier breakfasts are just amazing, Packed full of flavour , fresh and tasty. A little bit different too, and I applaud Fredi and Hazel for sticking to thier vision to offer something fresh and new in a remote quiet coastal town like New Romney, where doing that is gonna be a hard gig. Soooo glad they have stuck with thier vision. I love thier eggs Shakshuka , and Heuvos Rancheros . Yesterday we had lunch, I very nearly opted for the Grilled Peach and Proscuttio Salad with Kentish Blue crumbled on top. It's divine one of my favourites and you should try it. I visited this morning, sat outside and ordered 2 coffees and 2 cakes. Whilst waiting we looked at the breakfast menu which looked interesting and we were thinking that it would be good to revisit. Until that is we received our 2 coffees and 2 cakes. I ordered the coffee and walnut cake which tasted very odd indeed. The sponge was dry and the cream was very hard. I asked my husband for his view and he agreed. I went into the restaurant and started my sentence very politely with “I am very sorry but this cake is tasting very odd”. I didn’t raise my voice and was expecting an offer to either replace the cake or an offer of an alternative. What I got was extreme rudeness. A man I am assuming is the chef and/or owner told me that the cake had been in the fridge and that is how it should taste. He then proceeded to dramatically lift the cake from the fridge and then cut a slice for himself, taste it and then announce loudly that it was perfect. I expressed regret that I was not being listened to and he then said very aggressively that I was wrong. All of this was very unnecessary and indeed my interaction had been polite and respectful. It is sad that what I received in return was such rudeness and aggression. I do question whether he would have been so with a male customer. Anyway one to sadly avoid at all costs.

This is a great place for lunch. I usually have a mocha (which is rich and delicious) and the Apollo Ciabatta, which is advertised as a light bite - but you certainly get your money's worth! Staff are really friendly and very efficient. They also...

Food is as always exceptional, visited a couple of times and service has unfortunately always been a little slow but food is well worth the wait and staff are always apologetic.

We had a wonderful lunch at this hidden gem of a restaurant - The Coach House in New Romney. We were seated outside by very friendly staff. The sun was very strong so  the staff kindly extended their awning creating a lovely shade. They took our orders (its table service, so no need to approach the counter) I had a BLT (with a spicy Mediterranean twist) which really hit the spot, and highly recommend 😋 and my wife had an omelette , equally delicious! We ended up chatting with the fun (and good cheeky sense of humour that we love) owners Fred and Hazel, who were welcoming and clearly passionate about what they do. All the food is made fresh on site to order and you could feel how proud they are about the quality of food and service. We chatted with the owners well past their closing of lunch service and if I could, I would have sat their drinking and chatting for the rest of the afternoon. While it's a distance from where we live (75 min drive) I'll definitely be returning. So if you're looking to try something a little different with some character then get yourself to The Coach House. I'd also suggest you visit soon before it becomes world famous and you miss out because it will be fully booked 😁

Excellent coffee and fantastic breakfast. Eggs Georgios was delicious, all fresh produce, nice hollandaise sauce, avocado, poached egg and crispy bacon. Great to have such fantastic food on my doorstep. Thank you

Wow a couple in hospitality who clearly dislike people! Sarcastic and rude. The locals told me to await a rude response and the waitress offered for me to have it out with them but I was respectful of the customers eating there

Beautiful pub. With minimal notice Emma put on the most wonderful afternoon tea to celebrate my Dad after his funeral. We had a reserved space in the middle of the pub and the care and service we were given was awesome. Thank you for creating a lovely send off for Dad!

What a lovely little find. I would usually go for cider but embraced the ales on offer and I am glad I did. The owner is a lovely man who cares about his place. You are guaranteed great service. Even if you don't like ales, there's plenty of other options.
