Friendly little community pub. Great place for a quiet beer and a chat.

A delightful micropub, which consists of a couple of rooms and a small courtyard garden. Everything was faultlessly clean and most important the beer and cider were excellent, with a good range. Could perhaps get a slightly larger variety of soft drinks.

Niel and Scott were fab and the pub itself and the Citris Haze I had was bloody delicious. Spent the weekend with my Auntie who had lost her partner so the vibe and community at the Firkin was really wonderful!

This place becomes very noisy when it's busy. The acoustics are poor with nothing to absorb sound. After an hour there my ears were ringing. Much better to visit in off peak times or move to the small lounge area behind the bar.

Not just fantastic ale but great cider too. Don't miss out on the cheese board, it was a really pleasant surprise and the perfect accompaniment to a couple of pints. Nice locals and friendly owner, fully recommended.

We had been ordering the third drink on the menu all night and saying “number 3”. My friend went up there and ordered, only to get a different pint (because bar man had changed the signs around). Rather than tell us, he gave us the wrong drink, and then wasn’t kind enough to offer an alternative - but said we need to pay. For a “local” and “friendly” pub - I’d have expected friendlier staff / better service. Won’t be coming back !!!

I am never disappointed with the ale here - great ale, ciders and a selection of wines and alcohol free beverages with a good regular crew. Today tried the cheese board with biscuits and chutney - very very nice. Just got to remember to turn the phone off.

Love this place. Think that's the 3rd location it's been at since I started going a few years back. There's not a lot not to like. Didn't try the food, but no doubt they got snacks.

I really enjoyed this micropub. I like micropubs and this is one of the best I have been to. There was a good selection of ales from microbreweries and craft beers on offer and mine was in good condition. There were a few customers and a pleasant buzz of conversation even though I visited in the middle of the afternoon. Very reasonable prices

Friendly landlord and locals. Recently moved across the road to a larger premises and it looks excellent. The cask was really well kept. Lovely Kent brewery beers. Lovely cosy lounge area at the back and bright open and relaxed front of house. The whole place felt very welcoming. Only stopped for a short while and time seemed to pass by very quickly here.

Apart from the place moving next door..... This location remains my goto place for the best ales in folkestone! Always been looked after by Neil and made some amazing friends over the years he's been trading!

Lovely place. Small and personal. No slot machines, no noisy music, no nothing. Just a room with tables and chairs and an outstanding offering of real ales. These change constantly so you never know what's on. Bliss. Beers are super cheap as well. What's not to like...

Popped in for a quick pint on a Friday day time between Christmas and New year. Hoping was just an off day as lacked any atmosphere.

Bijoux ale house. Excellent, perfectly conditioned and constantly changing selection of ales and ciders. No entertainment and a strict silent mobile policy (£1 fine for noisy devices). Neil (The owner) is a lovely bloke who really takes pride in the place. Really friendly regulars

First Micro pub in Folkestone. Neil runs it well and gives a friendly welcome to his Customers. Always serves a good quality pint of ale. Range is always changing and varied. Often when doing a pub crawl of Folkestone the Firkin has served the best pint of the night!

My friends and I call it Neil's pub, always the first port of call for a night out. With a constantly changing selection of great ales, you just can't go wrong. It is small, being a micro-pub, but I have hardly ever not managed to get a seat. In good weather there are a few tables outside too. Service is friendly and very quick.

A micro pub with four tables with the beer stored in the room behind and brought to your table by the barman. There are around four beers available at any one time and my pint of Tonbridge Blond Ambition was excellent. There are also a variety of ciders on sale, many laden with fruit. If you are keen on real ale this place is a must if you visit Folkestone.

Popped as it looked interesting, nice ambience and friendly service. The selection of beer, cider and wine was good and our choice was very tasty.

We've spotted this pub a couple of times and made a mental note to visit, and now we have! It's a great little place, lovely décor, nice atmosphere and friendly. The owner is very proud, which shines through, he's clearly taken pride in developing this cute pub. The prices are brilliant, if I remember correctly we paid little over £5 for a pint of ale and a glass of wine. My partner was pleased to find somewhere with real beer! We will be going back, some of my family have expressed an interest in coming too! Maybe next time we'll try the snacks, there's a lovely sounding cheeseboard - local cheese of course!

Great little micro pub run by Neil , a man with principles . If your phone awakens there's a fine so TURN IT OFF! Good selection of ales which are poured from the barrel in the room out the back. This is a place that generates good conversation, a place to make friends with like minded people .Real ale lovers. Ladies this is an ideal husband crèche while you shop til you drop !

I visited on a Saturday night fairly early. It is a typical micro pub with a range of ales but also serving cider and wine. It was rather quiet when I was there which in my experience is unusual for a micro pub but the barman and one or two regulars were friendly.
