The Cook's Table in Shepway

I took a friend for lunch and said how unique and lovely the food was, well, what a let down. We had a BLT and Bacon on brown, the bread was so thick it was ridiculous and then we tasted it and hardly tasted of anything. We took the top of the sandwiches and saw the meanest portions of bacon ever, 1 small piece of streaky bacon on each half and on mine a trace of lettuce and tomatoes. The server asked if we enjoyed our meal and I said "no, not really, the filling was the meanest portion I have ever seen" (something along those lines) and the server looked shocked and said "sorry" but nothing more. I have today looked at the reviews and know exactly what they are talking about. The sandwiches were not that cheap at £7.50 for a BLT and £7 for just bacon. We won't go back.

Sadly I have to agree with the other posters here. This used to be our go-to cafe in Hythe. We appreciate that times are hard, but the portion size has been massively reduced. Three tiny pancakes spread with lemon curd were served with no more than ten blueberries. My eggs benedict went back, as the hollandaise was cold. My wife had finished her dish before my replacement arrived. The sauce was now warm at least. I was told that the sauce should be served at room temperature, which is as maybe, but not cold! It was interesting to compare the pic of the same dish that someone posted here before, with herbs and a garnish. Not any more. Come on Cook's Table - raise your game. To be fair, the benedict was removed from the bill without my asking.

Very good service but that's about it. The portions were smaller than other places we've been to and the quality was also lacking.

The Cook's table used to serve really good breakfasts. But this morning 4th February was a real let down. The Welsh Rarebit here was until recently a fantastic dish. This morning it was served on packet bread rather than sourdough. It was undercooked with no skin on the hot cheese and with only two slices as the ' grilled ' tomatoes. The three chums I was with had various cooked breakfasts. All the paid for extras such as mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, fried potatoes and scrambled eggs were tiny child like portions. We did mention our dissatisfaction this morning and the staff apologised. Come in 'Cook's Kitchen'.. improve your offering or we will go elsewhere.

We received as a present a Cream Tea, we had a lovely and delicious sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, shortbread biscuits and several different slices of cake. So if you are looking for a delicious cream tea this is for you.

We are regulars to Hythe but had yet to try this place out. We stumbled in on the off chance and were pleasantly surprised. There was a a good array of usual fayre - sandwiches, paninis, wraps etc - and cooked foods eg omelette. The todays specials were varied too and we went for a simple quiche and side salad. Ours was served just the right temperature and salad dressed with oil and vinegar. We were offered condiments which hadn’t been sitting around in the heat all day and the table service was quick and efficient. Definitely to be recommended.

Not been in since it became the Cook's Table until today. The café was pretty full and we got a corner table. Perfect for us as we had the dog with us. Only had a coffee and a toasted tea cake but everyone seemed to be enjoying their food whether it was breakfast or one of the many specials on the board. Will definitely go again.

Prompt friendly customer service, simple menu with a specials board and afternoon tea options. Todays special was homemade butternut and lentils soup which lived up to our high expectations 👌🏼😋. Poach egg & salmon on sourdough- again simple but delicious! Lovely latta & tea too. The afternoon teas appeared popular and looked delicious!

I had a delicious brunch here last week, avocado and poached eggs on toast. It was fresh, well prepared and delicious. Also a complete bargain as there was a discount on the Tuesday I was there so with a cup of tea came to only £6.30!! Highly recommended.

A pretty ordinary cafe along the High Street in Hythe, although it seemed very popular so must have something the locals love.

Just returned from our first trip here with my family ordering brunches, ham egg & chips and eggs benedict. All were so tasty, surroundings were spotless and staff couldn't be more helpful. We used a groupon voucher and just had to pay a small difference which was well worthwhile. Will definitely return again 😋

Bought a Groupon vouched for two for afternoon tea for my birthday. Also paid for two others to have sandwiches, non Groupon. Was met by a disinterested staff member not a smile in sight. With regards to afternoon tea, not asked what sandwiches or which cake we might prefer. This was a treat for myself and my family but I was underwhelmed by the whole experience. Will not return.

Would not honour a Groupon voucher that was perfectly valid without us paying extra. There was nothing on the menu we could have had with the voucher without paying extra. We were told that they were having a disagreement with Groupon to try and have the wording changed. But we were not told this on booking, or on seating, only at ordering. I told them we had a groupon voucher on booking. Restaurant was dirty with dirty plug sockets hanging from the wall and dirty window sills.

Although are pushed for space the service was excellent and the lunchtime deal was great value for money. My wife and I both had the Eggs Benedict which I would recommend.

I got a groupon voucher for my birthday and was very much looking forward to a lovely lunch with my friend. As we walked into establishment two other couples walked in after us, they were both handed menus and their orders taken even before we were handed a menu witch I found a little rude. The lady that eventually gave us a menu and took out order was quite rude too it was like because we had a Groupon voucher they really weren’t interested in us at all! I did also notice that the table next to us ordered what I ordered (chicken wrap) and realise they’ve got a lot more on their plate than what I did. This is now put me off buying anybody a Groupon voucher and definitely will not be returning to cooks table!!

I went here with my cousin who had pre-booked a table. The service was friendly and the food was nice and very affordable. I will definitely be going again the next time I am in Hythe.

I wasn't very impressed from the whole booking process-finishing our time there. When i first queried for afternoon tea, it seemed too much trouble for them and everything seemed to be a chore to them. When i arrived they said 'Are you Louise?' they knew...

Went here today got very smiley and friendly service the cappaccino and English breakfast was nice too :)

We used a Groupon voucher for the Brunch deal. The food was fantastic and the staff were very helpful. They were happy to accommodate changes and all food was fresh and hot. The cafe was clean and friendly. Our dog happily sat under the table...

The coffee in here is perfect, the machine is really clean and rinsed through and there is no dreggy taste just pure clean coffee! I had a brownie it was good! Service was great, Poppy is very friendly and attentive! Will be return again!

Out walking in Hythe we stopped for a takeaway lunch. We had bacon brie and cranberry baguette and bacon bap. Excellent quality and exceptional value!

We have just had the Sunday Roasts, which was Home Delivered. We had the Chicken and the pork. The meals were lovely and tasty. We have only just discovered this restaurant but will certainly be using them again.

Stopped by on our daily walk yesterday, great coffee, food was brilliant and reasonably priced. It makes all the difference when the service is friendly too. We’ll come again!

I ordered a 2 course Christmas take away for collection and was very impressed with the quality of the meal and the care taken to prepare it. Well cooked roast with all the trimmings and a tasty dessert.

Great menu with high quality,tasty ingredients. Cooked well. Good service. Would happily recommend to friends.
