Really impressed with my first visit here. 2 gorgeous coffees, 2 amazing sausage rolls and a strawberry and cream frappe. £16 and really good quality. Will deffo be back.

Because I only ordered a flat white, and I’m familiar with coffee blends, so choosing which I wanted my coffee to be made with made sense, this place gets a 4/5! However.. on entry, it looks like a run down Greggs, with the sweet & hot bake display. Some made sandwiches in a chiller behind while you’re queuing; not sure if any were made to order? The syrup selection I saw was too extreme; I think I counted 34 bottles? Yes I stood and counted while in the queue, because that’s actually how long I had. For a decent coffee house, 4 syrup options would be plenty. Why they offer coffee blends I do not know; it felt too much for the vibe of the cafe. And actually how long are those beans in the hoppers? You can also buy bags of the beans.. not sure if they would grind them for you. It all just seemed very mix match.

What a delight to find this gem of a coffee shop. Our visit was a lovely suprise. We have passed by on numerous occasions without venturing in. Fabulous coffee & pleasant atmosphere, thankyou we will definitely visit again.

Nice little cafe/bakery in the centre of Folkestone. If you’re nearby you could do a lot worse!

I like the idea behind the different coffee roasts, especially the fact the coffee is named after Norse mythology. This cafe has a good base idea behind it, but the coffee just isn’t anywhere near the standard expected for the price. I’m a very good barista and I feel like if there was one top quality barista here it would make the world of difference. The tall blonde girl makes the best coffee but even at that the standard is only ok. I watched the older brunette make mine today and there’s just bad practice all around, the inside of the portafilter wasn’t wiped after it was empty so I assume wet old soggy coffee grounds are left in it. The group head wasn’t purged before the new portafilter was put in, the coffee wasn’t weighed, the shot pulled far too quick, and the milk was horrifically steamed, far too hot, definitely burned and the milk was a foamy mess. The shop was quiet at this time too, so there’s really no reason for excuses for skipping all these essential steps. The baristas need to be trained properly, I don’t think anyone here is a bad employee or doesn’t care, they’re just not trained properly. I’d be more than happy to come in and do a workshop of sorts on the weekend or even work a shift off the books to help the cafe, there’s a lot of potential but a clear lack of coffee knowledge from the staff who work day to day.

The tables were dirty not been cleaned the plate my husband had his food on was dirty they wasn’t helpful and the toilets were a long walk

I could take pics to turn your heads in disbelief but I will not. Food scraps over floor and looks like it’s not been mopped since it opened today. Our table had not been cleaned and plate my pasty was on had crumbs from a different meal on it, however the hot chocolate was lovely. This was my first and last visit unfortunately.

the coffee is nice and worth the price, as well as that you are able to buy small packets of the beans they use so you can make your own at home. The staff are friendly and professional.

Dirty cutlery and incredibly overpriced

Found this by chance as visiting the bookshops BUT are we glad we did; the sausage rolls are better than Greggs (a previous favourite) and with coffee a fully enjoyable lunch was had. Back here next visit in October.

Food was lovely and still warm. Can tell was freshly made.

As always, everything was freshly made and tasted great. The chai spice in the coffee was really flavourful, the sausage roll fragrant and flaky and the baguette really generously filled.

Food was decent but a bit overpriced for what it was considering it was over £6 just for a cheese toastie.

Food when I got the right items, is amazing. Didn't get my coronation chicken. The steak pastry had 1/5 meat and rest potato and carrots (I think). Sausage roll as always is amazing. Sausage, bacon and egg bap was amazing. Iced caramel and mint frappe was amazing.

I came in for a take away, it was my first time here. When I asked for information I was given rude, patronising and sarcastic comments from what appears to be the manager or owner. Like many of the other reviews, you’d expect the service to match the prices. Set examples for your staff by being polite and considerate.

Bacon really over done it was burnt. Hot chocolate was clumpy and strong :( never usually have this issue with grind and bake usually on point. The buns was lovely over all

I am at a loss. I consider myself a kind human, and certainly strive to behave like one. For this reason I give one star. There’s really no other reason. I feel badly about that. If the prices matched the service, and food, I would maybe give 2 stars. I’m sorry but you cannot charge London prices and give a Margate standard.

This place has comfortable seats, good choice of food & drink. Very clean toilets.

Over priced mediore food. Staff forgot tp provide knives and forks to eat with. No spoons with tea either, had to request them. Not the best.

Only discovered this place recently and although we don't come to Folkestone often, it is definitely a "must". Caramel lattes are second to none and the food we've had is always great. Very reasonably priced and a lovely chilled out vibe. Love it

Best Black Forest Hot Chocolate Ever!!!!!

Freshly cooked food which was really tasty, in a good location with tables well distanced outside. Ordered 2 coffees both with syrup but they were sooo overly sweet and only tasted of the syrup that neither of us could finish them.

Pizza bread was that floppy and greasy I couldn’t taste it. It was dire-sorry. Actually made me feel rough

The food was delivered cold, it was not even Luke warm, it felt like it has been sitting for a while. The cheese wasn’t melted and very greasy.

Grind and bake is a fantastic cafeteria best sausage rolls I’ve ever had for pastry and they do an absolutely gorgeous coffee

I ordered 3 toasties and got 2 toasties and 2 sausagerolls so my order was wrong but kids enjoyed it still.

There was no onion in my cheese and onion toastie!!

This is our second visit to Grind n’Bake, first time we found it by accident during the lockdown and second time made a point of going there, whilst we are in tier three. Excellent choice of delicious baguettes, and amazing sausage rolls served by cheerful friendly staff. Will look forward to be able to eat in, in the future.

I go to grind n bake every Friday morning before heading to school so that I can get some school work done. I usually sit with a cup of tea and stay there for a couple of hours before leaving. The staff are lovely and the tea is delicious. I look forward to going each week as the atmosphere is good for studying and I can enjoy a bit of people watching when it starts to get a bit busier. I even have my own reward card, which I think is a very good addition to the service

Myself and my daughter visited the shop, to eat in and enjoy a hot drink and a snack. When they were unable to provide items for a multiple item deal, I was rudely told that I couldn’t substitute another item in order to be afforded the same deal. My order was subsequently mixed up, and they tried to overcharge me for a hot drink. In light of current times we did not enjoy our visit to this coffee shop, and being one of our first attempts of heading out of the house, found the whole atmosphere cold. If you are looking for customer service I wouldn’t visit this place. The refreshments were tasty however.

Wouldn't bother to eat here again. It just looks grubby and the state of my teaspoon it was covered in stains as was the spout of the teapot. £3.40 for a small sausage in a bap with a tiny smidgen of margarine in the centre of one piece, no thanks! and a not very clean table sitting outside with all the smokers...

Good coffee and a variety of baguettes and other baker's goods to consume. Staff are helpful and friendly but always busy as the business is popular. I'm still wary of eating / drinking inside restaurants etc but each time we have been for a coffee since the reopening we have found available seats outside and enjoyed a relaxing drink while watching the world go by.

Order was never delivered. Ordered from them before so they know the address but failed to deliver anything. Poor. Never using again

£20 for two rolls and two drinks so disappointing won’t be ordering again
