The Coffee Cabin in Portsmouth

I was out and about with my camera trying to make some good photographs, when I happened across The Coffee Cabin on Southsea common. The gentleman who served me was pleasant and made me a nice coffee. There are bench tables you can sit at to enjoy whatever you’ve purchased. The place is dog friendly. They also run a loyalty scheme where you get a free drink after purchasing a specified number of drinks. I will be returning. Some of my reviews may seem unforgiving but I come from a time when everything was not “Awesome” and “near enough was not good enough”. So, if I say something is “Excellent” that is because it is somewhere better than most others… and well worth considering visiting. I hope this review was of help, please consider following my travels & reviews in the autumn of my life.

We stopped at this cafe before the boys played in the splash park and park, very reasonably priced, fresh produce, excellent customer service, friendly helpful staff. The perfect chicken salad sandwich was awesome. Definitely will be returning thank you

This place is well hidden in the common behind the Tennis Club. The cakes look amazing, and they have a good selection of New Forest Ice Cream. The coffee is really nice too. Jess and Tilly are friendly and make sure you want to go back. My 4 year old (Emma) really liked it there, she would have stayed all day if she could!

Throughout the pandemic, we have tried hard to ensure that our custom is spread as widely as possible. This vendor has only just recently reopened and so we gave it a go. Honestly, the poorest coffee we have tasted in the past year. See the attached photo of what purports to be a cappuccino. Weak, foamless and full to the brim - so much so that I burned my hand removing the lid! We will not be returning.

My wife and I stumbled across this little gem in Southsea Beautiful coffee and cakes ,swift service with a smile also, Can thoroughly recommend ,delicious .

Went to the coffee cabin for the first time today and, like the previous reviewer, I must comment on the horrible lemon drizzle slice I purchased with my coffee. The cake was inedible, dry, tasteless, not sure what it was made of, binned it. Please change supplier! The espresso however was very good and the Covid safety measures seemed appropriate.

Went to the coffee cabin in Southsea for the first time today. First appearance was really good. I ordered a hot chocolate, a slice of chocolate and banana loaf and chocolate chip shortbread. When the young guy was making my hot chocolate he used his bear hands to put marshmallows on it.. not sure if he’s seen the news on corona. I didn’t have the balls to say anything at the time as I had my baby with me and didn’t want to stay longer then I had to. My hot chocolate turned out to be cold. On my way home I decided to eat my chocolate and banana loaf... this was inedible! It was so stale and dry, made me feel sick. I got the shortbread for my husband which he is still to eat, I do not have high hopes. Real shame as the place looked really good. Feel the cakes are overpriced for what you get, my loaf was £3.50Bwhich ended up in the bin. Will stick to what I know and just go to Parade Tearooms from now on, never disappointed there.

Couldn't believe how great my jacket potato was, full to the brim with toppings pipping hot fluffy and crispy, will be back, should change the name to the jacket potato shed as its clearly their best dish, super spud super coffee and now super excited to return!!! Just wandering where you get your potatoes from? Must be some heavy soil to give them the perfect texture, knowing the cakes are home made, I wouldn't be suprised if they grew the potatoes themselves. Must be an Irish family recipe Many thanks to all the staff and the service you provide

Very disappointed with this shop. Advertised jacket potatoes. In the past 3 weeks this is the 4th time I have visited for lunch (1 oclock) and each time no potatoes. Why advertise if you havnt any. Will not be visiting again.

You can get a good coffee here with a good selection of pastries, cakes and savouries. Right on the beach and easy parking (though you need to pay).
