The Coddy Shack in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Great fresh fish and chips take away. The regular fish is large enough for me and I can eat a fair bit! Wife had a small fish and chips which was enough and only £5! We have had takeaway and also eaten here on several occasions when on holiday in the past before it was rebuilt and great to know it’s as excellent as before! One point worth noting for dog owners if you want a sit down meal here and have a dog with you, you need to be gone by 5pm. Best fish n chips in the area!

A lovely venue and great atmosphere. Sadly vegan options are the same curry that seems to appear on every menu. Please start doing a battered banana blossom or something! I promise you'd draw in a big crowd xx

Couldn’t wait to bring the in-laws back to their favourite restaurant whilst they were visiting, sadly we feel the new establishment doesn’t have the charm of the old restaurant. Visited on a Saturday early evening with my in-laws, husband and four children. The acoustics unfortunately were awful so conversation was difficult, the restaurant was very busy which wouldn’t have helped. We were seated fairly close to the door and my husband had to keep his jacket on as he was nearest so every time a new customer came in he was getting hit with the cold draft. The waiter struggled to understand we wanted to split the bill so we kept to the same bill which then caused a difficulty with a different member of staff at the end of the meal meaning everything had to be recalculated and two separate bills created then at the till. The food itself came very quickly which is great when you have hungry kids. The portions of the children’s meals were fab. My father in law loved his burger but unfortunately would’ve liked more chips. The regular cod and chips were an ample portion but my husband was slightly disappointed with the portion of chips he received with his large cod especially as the curry was was so lovely he wanted to make the most of it. In our opinion the portion of chips he received was the same size as the one we received with our regular cod. We ummed and ahhhed about dessert but for us these were a little over priced, although I felt the children’s waffle price seemed reasonable. Sadly for us we more than likely won’t revisit the restaurant but would definitely come back for takeaway.

We have always been regulars here and loved the food and service and couldn’t wait to return now it’s re-opened after the fire. However our first experience at the new Coddy Shack wasn’t a good one! Whilst I appreciate it is busy 45mins wait for takeaway for 4 people seems a bit of a joke! The guy vomiting everywhere outside the restaurant was a wonderful scene when dining with 2 young children what a delight! Not what you expect at 5pm in the evening! Unfortunately the food wasn’t great either and it seemed like non of the staff really knew how to deal with a busy evening and no one seemed to be in charge. Such a shame as this used to be one of our favourite places to eat!

Takeaway fish and chips….. We were recommended this place by a friend who frequents Looe regularly. Business building was fabulously decorated following a fire last year. We had 2 cod&chips 2 cheesy chips and a chicken burger. Oh my days - fish and chips was superb. A solid 9/10. Son and daughter had cheesey chips which were a hit and the chicken burger was a double breasted affair which was made to my fussy son’s spec. Amazing quality and quantity of food.

First time here as we have always sworn by Kelly's in town. But we've been missing out!! The best cod we've had in a while. Also the scallops were amazing, staff lovely and friendly. Definitely our new favourite for when we visit again!

Big let down this week been going every week after the reopen. Seems things are going down hill. The reg cod and chips I had was far smaller than the past and my wife's curry sauce was only luke warm and had been stored in the warmer before sale. The fish was covered in soggy batter with loads missing. Ashame as it's been along time waiting for what should be some of the best food in Cornwall. The pictures are one earlier and today's visit.

Absolutely delicious meal! Scallops to start, Chowder for main and Trio of ice cream for desert! Food was delicious, well presented and perfectly cooked! Staff were friendly and professional! So nice to have this place back!

So pleased that The Coddy Shack has reopened. My partner and I went for lunch and were not disappointed. Their menu is lovely and their Chowder was LUSH. (Just as it was before the unfortunate closure) The service was friendly, attentive and despite the numbers on the day; the meal was served prompt and hot. Excellent.

Excellent food and very friendly staff. Squid, prawn and deep-fried Brie starters excellent. Lots of fishy main courses..we had some of the best fish and chips! There is plenty of stuff for non-fish lovers too. Drinks choice was good: well kept beers, nice Shiraz and a wide selection of gins were sampled. We’ll definitely be returning.

A party of six of us including two children had booked to celebrate a significant birthday and we really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the courteous attention of the waitresses. The food was excellent and piping hot and thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. Four of the party live in France and were impressed with this local cuisine.
